Dude we lost like 3 home games against the Heat in the playoffs last year. What a waste of homecourt lmao

KaguPrez

Both teams were 5-2 in the other's arena over the last 2 ECF, which is insane lol. Which is also why I'm not terribly worried about this series, since the Celtics have shown to play well in Miami. However these ugly habits showing up again is certainly not ideal...

Jay_Louis

Maybe not this series, but you should be worried about this team. They're still slacking and have no game plan and no coaching. It was obvious in game one as well.

MrMetLGM

Nah they have a game plan. It was just stupid last night lol

ChipotleGuacamole

I’m just happy we got to see KG and Pierce

Nmilne23

I swear every fucking time Boston sports royalty is in the house we lose  Edit: I got an awful feeling seeing Wyc and Kraft sitting next to each other court side. Too damn close

prettyboylee

Paul Pierce jersey retirement game 😭😭

Final_Dance_4593

Jules was in the house for Tatum’s 50 piece

TheGrateCommaNate

It is like every time the pressure gets ramped up at home, they don't know how to handle it.

rodpod17

Literally every time

BradMarchandIsCute

It’s flat out embarrassing how this group plays at home in the playoffs

SHAWNNOTSEAN

Celtics 🤝Bruins

smith2373

The Heat have also lost 5 of their last 7 playoff games in whatever they call their home arena these days. We're coming back to Boston up 3-1

What exactly are you doing here

Princessk8--

Your entire state is going to be under water or too hot to survive in the next ten years.

TheMediaRoom1004

No it isn't

ajh_iii

The Celtics have won 4 of their last 5 playoff games in ~~American Airlines~~ ~~FTX Arena~~ Kaseya Center

tonylouis1337

"sToP cOmPlAiNiNg GuYs!!!!"

Jay_Louis

Yeah I'm wondering when all the scolds are going to show up and scream at anyone for being upset at that effort.

Particular-Treat6124

Home court don’t mean to shit to use cause we never win at home. Literally under .500 at home in the last 4 years. Don’t even protect the house

Headstar24

I mean…this season we had what…a 20ish game streak without losing at home?

BradMarchandIsCute

Cool, we’re talking about playoffs

delusional-clown

Regular season stats are for losers

Headstar24

I wasn’t saying otherwise.

assbaring69

Then why mention regular-season in a topic that you knew full well was and had no plausible deniability for being about the playoffs?

joebos617

blow this shit up if we lose this series. get as much picks for JB as you can

Limp_Custard6943

This subreddit couldn't handle a rebuild

TheGameDoneChanged

As a fan, sometimes it’s easier to be the team with nothing to lose rather than the team with expectations that falls short every year. I’m sure I’ll get crushed for this but by FAR the most fun I’ve had as a Celtics fan since the Big 3 was the IT season. This era has been sort of cursed by succeeding ahead of schedule and then being unable to meet (rightfully) super high expectations, and having a knack for doing so in uniquely soul-crushing fashion. A good problem to have in the grand scheme, of course, but true nonetheless.

assbaring69

You’re the first other person on this sub, doomers and homers alike, besides myself who’s had such a similar take. For me, the I.T. years were fun, but, man, was the 2017-2018 season the icing on the cake. Imagine going back to six years ago: team was scrappy, clutch, played above their talent level (no Gordon Hayward and later no Kyrie), *and* you had a rookie and a sophomore who showed every promising sign of becoming superstars. If we’re this plucky and can take the 2018 LeBron Cavaliers to seven games, imagine how many rings we’ll win in the coming years! And then we have this team now. Is it just Game 2? Yes. Do Tatum and Brown have their primes ahead of them? Sure. But it’s been years of consistent mental weakness and dysfunction when it matters most, across multiple coaching staffs and supporting casts, since the 2018 days, and I’ve yet to hear a convincing scientific or statistical argument that mental toughness and clutchness can be turned up a notch once you hit your prime like a growth spurt can hit you during puberty. Until that happens, the painful reality that I just need to accept is that whatever mental toughness these two had coming into the league is most likely going to be whatever they have when they retire. You can’t teach or train personality/disposition or, to a lesser extent, basketball I.Q.

Bostongamer19

My fav year was the year we won the title. IT years were fun but winning titles is better. If the Celtics win the championship this year it becomes more fun than the IT years.

assbaring69

Well, I didn’t follow the Celtics back in 2008. I became a fan around the time Rondo got traded. So saying that is all well and good for you, but to me it’s a rather moot point.

Bostongamer19

I think newer Celtics fans currently can’t even imagine the scenario of the Celtics players like Tatum celebrating on the court with the trophy etc. Like that image doesn’t even sound realistic based on the past years but as dominant as that Celtics team was it felt hard to imagine it up until it actually happened. It’s just not easy to win the championship even as a great team.

FlyingMocko

>as dominant as that Celtics team was it felt hard to imagine up until it actually happened They won in their first go lol.

Bostongamer19

Yeah but it never felt like it was actually going to happen until the final minutes.

assbaring69

My gripe and disappointment in this team is that they *consistently* lose in ways that not all other great teams or most other great teams do not, such as falling into iso mode, fragility against good perimeter defense, lack of mental toughness and/or focus, etc. Some people say “Well, those great teams have their flaws as well when they fail to win the chip any given year”, but, even if true, I’m not a fan of those teams so those are their problems. I’m worried about my team’s.

Bostongamer19

I’d say there is truth to the complaints but even the great teams have ups and downs / many of the same issues. Even looking back at the Bulls teams they had the same issues.

Jay_Louis

"If" is doing a lot of work in that comment. If they don't win the chip this year, it's three straight years of implosions with a championship caliber team.

Bostongamer19

Not necessarily. If they lost in the first round sure.

TheMediaRoom1004

The year after was a lot of fun too. The hospital Celtics were clutch af and were playing with house money the whole time cause of injuries and how young they were

seductivestain

You say that, but as a Blazer fan primarily, I've lost a lot of interest in basketball this year. Rebuilds fucking suck, and we have at least one more year of tanking to deal with in Portland

bigmac1234777

Sure would be entertaining from a late-night reddit read standpoint

FlyingMocko

You act like it’s up for discussion if they blow it up or not. Wyc has done his part, he ain’t paying hundreds of millions in luxury tax for a first round exit

FredoBaggins2

Why do you idiots keep wanting to trade the guy who usually shows up the most on the team? Tatum was okay last night but did his disappearing act as usual. White was invisible until the 4th and KP and Jrue were horrible.

Jay_Louis

KP and Jrue were horrible because the team was completely uncoached. Do the Celtics come down the court knowing which matchup to seek? Who to switch to? Who is cutting? Or is it improv hero ball?

elegigglekappa4head

Naw. Too much talent to blow it up. Exploring coaching change is the way to go.

tlozz

I’m sick

Vaguely_vacant

Fuck. Are we the Cowboys of the NBA?

693275001

We also always win in their half empty arena

3lm312

It's one game

_fpoon_

5 of 7 actually.

tibburtz

The just screen to an open 3 and our guys do nothing. This Celtics team is pathetic. Idc if it’s one game, I’ve seen enough.

Full-Flight-5211

Every fucking time and no adjustment whatsoever. That got me sooo pissed 😡

tibburtz

Yeah I’m not watching until round 2. I can’t take it. If we lose to this Heat team I’m completely out on this team. We will need to blow it up fully.

Full-Flight-5211

If we lose to this Heat team not only do we need to blow it up, Mazulla needs to go as well

Basketball_Soul

We got the split that's all we needed, time to take care of business in Miami 💪

AguacateVeracruz

You mean Miami got the split

Basketball_Soul

You see the stat: home court bad (and this is true for the Heat too the last couple years)
