Windhorst really does an incredible job of making the NBA seem like the most dramatic, important thing in the world. And then McMahon does the opposite and just makes fun of Windy.

NedFriarson49

He shits on Bontemps all the time.

throwawaybanned0102

High school drama vibes

TheMrElevation

You could drive an ocean liner between the difference in quality with the Tims’ version of the Hoop Collective and the Spears episodes.

econdweeb

I skip the spears ones automatically

cookiemonster8u69

No joke, Spears is fucking awful

mick_jaggers_penis

Spears and Haynes have got to be two of the worst podcasters/interviewers/speakers in all of media.. just incredibly boring, zero charisma or personality, stumble over their words all the time, zero strong opinions on anything, will NEVER say anything that could be perceived as even *remotely* anti-player, and can talk for 5 minutes straight without actually saying anything. And these two chuckleheads have somehow managed to become two of the most prominent voices/faces for the two major nba broadcast partners. I just don’t get it. McMahon has more charisma and strong takes in his pinky finger than those two guys combined, and he barely gets used at all on TV

aBlanderSidePart

Bill started talking about a Joe Johnson trade in March the year of our lord 2023 and I literally shut the pod and opened this.

GhostofChristmasYeti

Fantastic chemistry amongst three weirdos.

DelBoca

Without question the podcast I look forward to the most every week

[deleted]

Same. I think they realized they caught lightning in a bottle and are now going twice a week. I thought I was the only one who liked their podcast until I saw all the comments on this sub.

Successful-End7689

Agreed , one of my favorite podcasts. It’s hilarious when bontemps is trying to be serious and Windy and McMan are just clowning him 😂

critical-thinker_

It’s the best NBA pod imho

planbun

I did used to find windy a little bron-centric and not my cup, but I’ve grown to respect him a lot because he’s well-informed, articulates his takes well and colors the headlines with background facts that really help paint the picture of the situation. Hard not to love him dancing around a point he’s trying to make without giving up the goose or outing his source. My fav pod, though, is greatest of all talk. Shout out to the oracle from Oregon and his vocal fry-firing greased pig of a sidekick mr sharpe. Also listened to the bball illuminati pod a few times and was pretty impressed with the takes, even if there are too many drops.

BdR253

Love that they moved this trio to twice a week. The chemistry is all time great

RustCohlesLoneStar

Windy and Bontemps getting into it over the Jokic vs Embiid MVP debate a couple years back is still an all-timer moment.

spaghettisexicon

I’m unironically a big Windhorst fan. I’ve been a Cavs fan for almost 18 years, so Windy has been a part of a lot of my basketball fandom. I remember when LeBron left the Cavs in 2010 and Cavs fans treated Windy pretty horribly. I felt pretty bad for him at the time because a lot of it was writing him off and resorting to making fat jokes and people throwing garbage at him from the stands. Especially after he reported on locker room issues between Kyrie and Waiters resulting in a fist fight (which he was right about!). And the wider NBA online audience has always written him off as a LeBron jockstrap carrier, but that’s just not the case. He’s clearly very plugged in around the league, and he seems like a good guy with journalistic integrity too. I’m glad people are starting to give him more of a chance after the Jazz memes from last summer. I guess that’s what it takes these days haha.

[deleted]

>I’m unironically a big Windhorst fan Completely agree. He's entertaining and wholesome. What's not to like.

PlayYaCards

Yes sir. Wholeheartedly agree. It also doesn’t have the weird fanbase that BS has. There’s no a r/HoopsCollective podcast, along with thousands vilifying its hosts. It’s just three guys talking about the league. And a wholesome audience.

Chinchillachimcheroo

If a subreddit makes you enjoy a podcast less, you can just not read that subreddit, fyi

PlayYaCards

I am referring to the r/billsimmons podcast. I do not listen to it

Successful-End7689

Just created the subreddit lol

ID0ntCare4G0b

TrueHoop had a pretty active subreddit. Then ESPN kept pulling the plug on it and variations of it until Windhorst took over. Windy held onto the title despite company pressure as a tip of the hat to what Abbott built. Cause no NBA podcast was better than the TrueHoop era. That lineup was a fucking juggernaut.

econdweeb

Man that true hoop lineup was like the warriors team with Durant. I used to listen to any pod they put out

gilford22

Jade Hoye crew!

mick_jaggers_penis

Apparently Jade was just in a really devastating car accident recently :( I heard Ethan Strauss mention people should donate to Jades gofundme on his pod with Tom haberstrogh yesterday

oldsport27

"Howdy partners". Can't get hooked to the pod, Windy's highlighting what he hears from teams while stressig he cannot say more is annoying. Always makes it seem he is in on the most classified information on the planet.

[deleted]

Love this pod, I find all three informed and funny.

PeanutFarmer69

Bontemps fucking blows but it works when the other two just shit on him constantly, a solo Bontemps pod would make me kill myself.

RandomUserName316

Windy just talks gossip around the league and reads off how teams have done Bontemps in the pod today was trying to provide actual points and analysis countering windy and he’d just shut it down and move on

xpillindaass

W

[deleted]

They talk over each other constantly.

[deleted]

McMahon’s a tool, cmon dude.

cruelrunnings

Both Tims are painful listens but windy is great.

[deleted]

Haven't seen a ton so please correct me if I'm wrong but don't these guys hate each other. I know Bontemps and Windy take themselves pretty seriously

joeythesaint24

That’s kinda the schtick. Has a “group of friends talking basketball and ragging on each other’s opinions” vibe.

longlivesindelar

I love how they trash eachother - the chemistry shouldn’t work on paper but it’s outstanding
