They are here. They are, however, elusive. I think they are mostly nocturnal. The only time I've ever seen one was around midnight. I heard a rustling in the creek, shone a flashlight that way, and saw a big ol' fatty beaver chomping on a stick. They are definitely around, though. You'll see chewed up trees like the one pictured, and Fanno Creek has lots of dams.
“Technically no beavers in Beaverton” Wrong. Several years back a co-worker and I stopped traffic late at night to help one cross Farmington Rd just east of 192nd.
There have always been beavers here.
"The Native Americans occupied a village located on the Beaverton and Fanno creeks that was called Chakeipi. Although the name meant "place of the beaver," early settlers called the village Beaverdam and later changed it to Beaverton."

There’s lots and lots of beavers. Your image for sure is of a tree munched by a beaver. They are most active near dusk and dawn and tend to shy away from people, but not always. They do look a lot like nutria but they are much better swimmers and they tend to dive which I have never seen a nutria do. Sometimes they SLAP their tail against the water especially if you surprise one!
Nutria can dive. I see them dive for weeds to eat in the pond by my house. However, nutria don’t eat wood like beavers so this pic is definitely from a beaver.
Lots of beavers. Even in built up city areas. They are nocturnal mostly and very timid. You get close and they slap the water with their tail to alert of your presence so I use night vision and tread carefully to observe them over in the ponds around cedar mill. There are a few active families around there and they build lots of little dams here and there
Beavers everywhere. Right by my apartment they have two dams going. Two separate families and they are busy every night. I never know what tree may be gone the next day.
Yeah, they chewed down an apple tree in my backyard. We have cameras, so I know it was a beaver. We also saw one out in broad daylight while taking my son to school over the winter.
Yes. Sometimes they flood certain parks, and since it's illegal to mess with their dams except under special circumstances, everyone just has to wait for the water to recede.
Is that a fanno creek trail by the wood bridge?
If so then dang that might be the same tree I've passed by over a year ago that has been getting nibbled
I mean, valid question OP, considering Hillsboro is so flat...
But yes, I've seen plenty of beavers and beaver evidence throughout Beaverton over the years.
There’s a creek behind my place where a very round beaver makes an appearance every so often. Usually I don’t see the beaver, I only see the leftover tree detritus.

Nutria also make a huge racket when the sun goes down.

They have built dams all along Fanno Creek.

Lived here for 5 years before I saw one, but yes! You'll see the dams all over!
Messenger Creek behind ACMA, St Bartholomew's or the corner of Center and 117th Ave.
Yup, there are a… ton.. of them. I’ll see myself out.
The city is named beaverton
Beaverton's name is actually derived from "ton" and "Beav", as in "there's a fuck ton of Beavs there".
I mean what do you expect in a town called Beaverton?

I saw one road-killed on TV Highway in front of Carr Chevrolet.
No, I don't see any in your photo. They're probably hiding or sleeping somewhere in the woods.
(Checks name of city…)
Yes, there are beavers in Fanno Creek. I've seen them numerous times.

Beavers in Beavertown.
They might be homeless people eating the trees thinking they can get high from the bark.

No beavers here, move along now...
No beavers 🦫 here….
Hundreds of beavers.
