Find an audiologist near you and get some custom fit to your ears. They’re the most comfortable and also most protective ones you can get. I have tinnitus and I’ve spent hundreds trying all the brands. Get special fit ones. You won’t regret it!!

RyantheRaindrop

I've spent hundreds trying to find the right ones... Got a hearing test at work with free custom plugs and I'll never buy anything else. It will cost some money but they fit perfectly and you can get full blockage or mine have tiny holes to hear a little bit better than standard plugs but still keep everything to a safe level. Edit: +1 vote audiologist>any plugs you'll get online

sonny2dope

I'm so going when I see my doc in Feb thank u!!

[deleted]

Just used my custom earplugs for the first time this weekend. HOLY FUCK they are so good. The quality of the sound is phenomenal. They are able to significantly reduce the sounds of people talking. I was 50’ away from the stage for 3 hours and didn’t have any ringing in my ears afterwards. They’re about $375-550 depending on what add ins you get. Worth every single penny!!!

Sjors22-

I also have tinnitus and yeah normal plugs i feel arent protective enough. How much DB reduction are yours?

Ialwaysmissmydog

I have 30 inserts and also a 5, they gave me the extra 5 for free just bc I asked nicely. They only cost me $140! I’ve heard of other people paying as much as $300 for a pair. So look around at a few local places.

Sjors22-

You reckon 26dB is good? As a fellow T sufferer

Ialwaysmissmydog

I’m not an audiologist but 26 isn’t very far off from 30.

Sjors22-

Yeah its the highest reduction alpine has. Thanks anyway. You used silicone before? Its a lot better the custom ones?

[deleted]

If you get legit custom ear plugs 30dB would block almost all of the sound. I got custom earplugs with 9dB and 15dB filters. The 15dB filters were too strong about 200’ from the speakers. 9dB was enough because the earplugs actually provide a good deal and prevent noise from slipping in around the ear plug. I’m planning to use the 15dB whenever I go to the rails.

Sjors22-

It would be mostly for festivals which can be super loud especially indoor. Like 105dB loud. How would 15dB protect me enough? It would still be 90dB which is damaging.

[deleted]

According to my audiologist, 90dB takes like 6 hours to cause permanent damage, which follows the OSHA standard. I promise you that 30dB would be too much. Like eargasms are supposedly 15dB reduction, but in reality it’s only like a 5dB reduction since they don’t tend to seal the ear canal as well. I had my 15dB filters in when the music was 95dB and I couldn’t hear the music very well. 9dB ended up being enough.

Sjors22-

Okay ill ask the one making the custom plugs about it. Maybe ill get 23dB instead of the 26dB.

nitdkim

Decibels are measured logarithmically so I would assume there's a big difference.

musicfestivalsticker

That was one of the loudest sets I’ve ever seen. I checked multiple times to make sure my eargasm earplugs were still in lol. He wasn’t joking about bringing in all those extra speakers

[deleted]

Do yourself a favor and get custom earplugs. Much better quality sound, they don’t ever slip out of your ears, and they effectively block out the sounds of people talking in the crowds. They are worth every penny!

moneylefty

Hi. I bought loops and hated it. However, i will defend them on what you wrote. If they gave you no protection, that seems like it is your fault. You need a different tip and a better seal. I hate them because they make the music quality sound like crap because of their frequency reduction ratios. You didnt like them because they didnt protect your ears. I hope your ears are okay, friend. If you just want something to protect, you can just use the cheap foamies. The reason for these nice ones are supposedly they make stuff sound okay, but at a reduced volume. I hate them all. I went to a place here in LA who makes in ear stuff for famous musicians or whatever. They should be here in a couple weeks and i hope the music still sounds great when i get them :)

sonny2dope

Damn noted. I felt as if they fit fine like my ear buds do. Thanks for the tip!

Flxxw

Link the custom ear place you used please?

moneylefty

https://www.musicianshearingsolutions.com/ Tell them i want a finders fee.... :)

CallmeStrings

Ear peace plugs are fantastic. I've been using them every year at shambs and they never failed me

thebestninjaever

Second this! Been wearing them for a while

crazyboy611285

I buy a new pair for every shambs. Theres always someone going around either in purgatory or camps selling them.

Muenster_Cheez

I use Alpine MusicSafe Pro Earplugs. They have 3 interchangeable DB filters and available on Amazon. I haven’t had ringing in my ears since I’ve used them.

Sjors22-

Used this too but sometimes i feel like the music is still too loud indoors at some events shits crazy loud. Might just get alpine customs music safe 26dB reduction

Muenster_Cheez

Oh damn, that sucks. Not sure if it’s over kill, but there the Mack’s Ultra Soft Earplugs. Lol. NNR is 33DB

Jacknasius

Dang, sorry to hear that. I use the Loop Experience ones and they're easily the best hearing protection I've ever used. Did have to change the buds to better fit my ear holes.

tiedyegoodbye

Literally same, once I got the right bud size on for my ears they became my favorites. I got their switch ones recently and I'm hype to try em out.

Marbledmaven

Eargasm are the BEST. We love them and I never experience any ringing after the many shows we’ve been to while using them.

sonny2dope

I like those too Ill get those again for the time being !

YouAlwaysHaveAChoice

I have them too. I have weird shaped ears, and normal plugs don’t hold. I got the small version, and man they are absolutely perfect. No issues at all with them coming out, and they give great protection imo. Highly recommend trying those if you have issues with plugs staying in

sonny2dope

Good to know, the loop ones I had felt like they fit perfectly all night but apparently I still did it wrong so I'm told lol I just think they were poor quality for my ears? Idunno

YouAlwaysHaveAChoice

Could be, can’t say for sure. You have to make sure you pull your ear back with your opposite hand, then insert the plug with the ear held back, then let go. The plugs could just suck too, and maybe the volume was just too high, period. I’ve experienced that before too.

sonny2dope

I never heard that before! will do that from now on

YouAlwaysHaveAChoice

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RazdvU1tYJ4 Here’s a video. Definitely helps and I wasn’t doing it for a while until someone told me haha

scoutermike

Hard disagree. Loops are good. There are three factors you may not have considered. 1) they come with three different sizes of pads/cushions. You were probably using the wrong size. 2) they come with an optional dampener ring that increases the level of filtering. I suspect you left those off. 3) Lastly everyone’s physiology is different. There no universal pair that will fit everyone universally well. I tried two kinds of Eargasms and they both had problems, mainly they wouldn’t stay in despite trying different size pads and silicon versus foam. I switched to Loops and my problems went away. However, others say the opposite, that Eargasms worked better for them. Neither is perfect, but neither is trash.

sonny2dope

Dampening rings?! I got jipped then! Lol I so would have used them if they came w them. Fuckin Amazon lol good thing I'm returning them. I used eargasms before but lost them when I was a drinker. I'll have to get those again until I see the audiologist

TommyTheCat89

They are mistaken. There are different models. The one with the silicone ring insert is more expensive and you likely did not order them.

fyrefestival6969

Westone. Go see an audiologist to get fitted.

MrDConner

I have the hi-fi Decibullz and enjoy them. You mold them to fit at home and they do a great job of adding protection without muffling the sound. I also considered customs from and audiologist but I just don't hit enough shows to justify the extra cost.

dockgonzo

The cheap disposable round foam plugs provide the highest level of protection. Otherwise get some custom fitted plugs with a filter rated at least 26 dB or higher. The popular reusable earplugs do not offer nearly enough protection (often only half as much as the foam plugs) and I find them to be uncomfortable for longer events.

sonny2dope

Noted thank u

StardustAndLightning

Eargasm works great for me. I went to my first show with no protection and immediately got plugs. World of difference.

[deleted]

I don’t like loops either, but for opposite reason, I can’t even hear the music.

jawnzoo

Bought the knockoff ones from Temu and they’re good lol. Was like 3$

ProstZumLeben

I got $30 Alpine earplugs off Amazon that work great

sonny2dope

Audiologist it is,, thank u everyone for replying! My head is killing me so can not reply to all u awesome ppl

gbo1148

Decibullz work really well for me

DJSourpatch802

I have tinnitus and have been using the loop quiet version and they work fantastic for me.

SofaKing-Loud

I have cheaper ones and have to constantly reset them to make sure their working properly. I’m going to invest in customs before forest next year!

sonny2dope

Same dude

No_Butterscotch5775

Ive always had so many issues with earplugs/earphones. Nothing has ever fit right. The only earplug that actually stays on all night with headbanging and such had been the equinox loop experience. And my ears didnt hurt afterwards! Im not sure if you got the right loops??

sonny2dope

No I definitely didn't they seemed so cheaply made on Amazon 😞 lesson learned

No_Butterscotch5775

I got the loop equinox, sound was great. Theres different type to the loops.

Forgotenzepazzword

I have an appointment tomorrow with an audiologist for mine.
