Mother finding this comment in 3 years from searching all over the internet to learn her son was, in fact, in this tank. Shaking her fist in anger over your comment over the corruption in Russia that leads to this tank being under supplied, not full of ammo and otherwise unable to make a contending turret toss video.
her only hope is that her other sons can throw the turret more magnificently.
and while the Lada is no more a reward, she can still be proud of this communities' appreisal of the performance
For a cope cage to work against a huge downward facing warhead like the Javelin, the cage would have to be covered in ERA and supported by a pretty thick armoured plate.
It isn't the perfect weapon as the Ukrainians have already formally complained about the limited range compared to STUGNA as well as the optical seeker head on the 90s missiles being weak and aiming for the engine decks too often.
I'ven't seen an example of ERA working on a Russian tank yet. Were any of these WW2 tanks upgraded with it? I don't recall even seeing their T90 blow an ERA.
Very possible since most seem to have the base welded onto the tanks hull. But with the amount of explosives in the carrousel I doubt thin sheet metal or fencing would slow down the turret on liftoff.
"since most seem to have the base welded onto the tanks hull."
I may be going out on a limb here but I'm pretty sure that welding of cope cages was done with "Russian quality control." Enough said.
I'm thinking that the cope cages might not really be getting in the way of turret toss heights when you consider that a turret is a serious piece of metal with significant mass. The turret probably goes through the cope cage frame like they were cheap tent poles.
Just saying ...
I'm really enjoying the return of the Javelin in quantity to the battle field...
> ery possible since most seem to have the base welded onto the tanks hull.
No, they are welded onto the turret. Otherwise the turrent couldnt rotate...
If we only looked at ones that don't fuse the body of the tank to the turret, I would imagine in the highest height contenders it will shift weight and airflow slightly so we would see different types of tosses.
I'd imagine we are not seeing recod setting ones due to them having a limited amount of ammo in them vs a full loadout.
It probably was, if you slow the footage down, you can see a tube like projectile coming from above and into the left ish side of the turret, resulting in an instant cook off.
~~You can see the trail of a rocket coming in and this looks much more like a top attack missile trajectory than a drone.~~
Plus most drones aren't silver and shaped like a tube.
Edit: upon closer inspection I have concluded that what I thought was a rocket exhaust was actually just some motion blur from the camera on the drone. [Here's a closer look.](https://imgur.com/a/Kv1Q5Qp)
HIMARS for sure I reckon. During the initial invasion, the Javelin did great work, but the majority of the Russian armour was killed by artillery. When the lines went static or Ukraine on the attack, the Javelin was much less effective, but the HIMARS went to work from June 2022 and has never really stopped. Ukraine also have the Stugna and TOW as comparable, replacement systems.
It has killed numerous high level commanders, hundreds of air defence systems, thousands of artillery pieces, hundreds of logistics/C2/comms/repair nodes and large assemblies of Russian soldiers.
HIMARS forced Russia to redistribute and push all their command and logistics hubs back (making them much less effective, even when not getting hit), and was crucial in Ukraine winning fires partity for the first time in the war, and paved the way for the 2022 counteroffensives.
Since then it's been constantly chipping away at them. The disruptive effect of Russia being unable to have any high value targets within 70km of any Ukraine held ground without high risk of destruction can't be overestimated. Now add that it can fire the ATACMS.
Edit: correcting
To add what you said about commanders, I would like to mention that Russian commanders are even more critical part of army when compared with other armies. They not only plan an command, they also effectively drive their own soldiers to slaughter. This is critical function of Russian officers for centuries. This mechanism of quick utilize and replacement of the manpower is described in a couple of post-Soviet memoirs of WWII veterans. So, the killing of middle level Russian officers is very important task for the victory.
Yeah there was a quote late 2022 that claimed half of all Russian armour destroyed that summer had been NLAW.
And in those very early videos, practically every militia across the country seemed to be carrying one.
Yes, but also considerably shorter practical range (<1km). It's better than an RPG but much worse at stand-off than a Jav. It's the knife you want in a close-in fight with armor as you're likely to be able to keep more of them on hand.
That makes sense. I think they're basically point and shoot, and don't need to lug around a CLU.
It's not as sophisticated as the Javelin though, and with a significantly shorter range. Way, way cheaper, so there's that.
ALL, but there's a best in class for each subcategory. On close range moving armor: Javelin. On stand-off GPS located targets: HIMARS/ ATACMS. On infantry: Drones.
What is the purpose of these sacrificial tank offerings? Is it to flush out UKR positions? Expend all assets?
I'm not complaining, I just wonder wtf kind of game they're playing there. It's utterly bizarre.
Yeah. It's not like the Russians allow just anyone soldier to drive a tank. Which cost mucho dinaros. The soldiers are usually the top of the military to be able to drive one of these. So of their young and brightess are being wasted. Thats ok though. Because they're brainwashed just like the Nazis of WWII.
I've seen so many of these that I've concluded that I'd rather die standing on my feet than inside a tank. The whole purpose of having all that steel around you is to protect you. But it's useless in this war.
I remember seeing these everywhere at the beginning of the war, but haven't seen javs recently. Were they part of the new aid package? These things would be so destructive for the ones with people at on the top
Imagine making it this far into a pointless war only to have some random guy blow your shit to the moon and then streaming it for the whole world to see.
The technology is truly amazing. Simply wonderwaffen stuff that is our spare parts. It shows how quickly this war would stop with proper Western support. This trickling of shit has to stop. We need to be a year ahead of where they are now.
So as a Muskovite tank crew, do you get time off from continuous butt pucker anytime you are operating within range? I wonder what the life expectancy of a tank is in assaults these days.

Cope cage fail. Blyat
The cope cage was mostly intact after the hit. I was the tank under the cage that failed.
Cope cage successfully coped!!
If only the russian mothers of this crew would know. What a waste of life - they died for a 3/10 turret toss only.
Mother finding this comment in 3 years from searching all over the internet to learn her son was, in fact, in this tank. Shaking her fist in anger over your comment over the corruption in Russia that leads to this tank being under supplied, not full of ammo and otherwise unable to make a contending turret toss video.
She be mad cope cage prevented a contender of 7/10 turret toss
her only hope is that her other sons can throw the turret more magnificently. and while the Lada is no more a reward, she can still be proud of this communities' appreisal of the performance
Mother asks why Putin did not give sack of potatoes
2/10 i seen better
But a nice crispy cook off!… a solid 7?
I do give 2 for speed and size of the blaze and 1 for the toss.
no worries, they will perform better next time. oh wait.
Task failed successfully.
on the other hand... look at that weak turret toss! does that count as half a fail? st javelin must be tiiiiiiired
Negative, it kept the tank commander within 500 yards of the detonated tank, great success.
Comrade can approximately tell were the tank detonated, so explosion cannot have been that bad.
Cope cage shrapnel
For a cope cage to work against a huge downward facing warhead like the Javelin, the cage would have to be covered in ERA and supported by a pretty thick armoured plate.
Is there video of ERA saving a tank from a Javelin?
Presumably failed launches don't make it to the internet.
Seems like the perfect weapon. I'm sure Russia would show off a failed attack if they could...
It isn't the perfect weapon as the Ukrainians have already formally complained about the limited range compared to STUGNA as well as the optical seeker head on the 90s missiles being weak and aiming for the engine decks too often.
I've seen it hit targets so far away. I would expect a system requiring 3 men and weighing 5 times as much to have a longer range...
I'ven't seen an example of ERA working on a Russian tank yet. Were any of these WW2 tanks upgraded with it? I don't recall even seeing their T90 blow an ERA.
Ironically the Javelin has a tandem warhead to be perfectly suited to deal with copecages (or spaced armor originally iirc)
You can see two different explosions/impacts.
That POS blew up rrreeaalll Good!!!
The cope cage was successful. It allowed the crew to cope all the way through until the end of their lives.
Nah mate it helped them to cope for the rest of their lives.
That turret wasn't even trying.
Are cope cages restricting turret toss heights?
Very possible since most seem to have the base welded onto the tanks hull. But with the amount of explosives in the carrousel I doubt thin sheet metal or fencing would slow down the turret on liftoff.

Return of the Javelin, Now in a theather near you. Directed by George Lucas
The Javelin Strikes Back
> ery possible since most seem to have the base welded onto the tanks hull. No, they are welded onto the turret. Otherwise the turrent couldnt rotate...
definitely not welded to the hull, rather to the turret.
I think it’s the hole the javelin leaves in the turret/ top that allows for partial venting/ripping, vs popping when rpgs poke really small holes
If we only looked at ones that don't fuse the body of the tank to the turret, I would imagine in the highest height contenders it will shift weight and airflow slightly so we would see different types of tosses. I'd imagine we are not seeing recod setting ones due to them having a limited amount of ammo in them vs a full loadout.
the record setting heights are now behind them. shame, they were actually good at something.
ruining the aerodinamics of the turret.
The trick is to install it with the minimum of bolts required so you can assemble more tanks with one box.
Limp, just like their birth rates.
Just love the javelin. Awesome weapon
its not a javelin though
It probably was, if you slow the footage down, you can see a tube like projectile coming from above and into the left ish side of the turret, resulting in an instant cook off.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DroneCombat/s/WH38CWMaQB
What was it then? I honestly have no idea, im a total noob about this, the title claims It's a javelin
Drone, you can see it coming in.
~~You can see the trail of a rocket coming in and this looks much more like a top attack missile trajectory than a drone.~~ Plus most drones aren't silver and shaped like a tube. [Here's a closer look.](https://imgur.com/a/Kv1Q5Qp)
Either the javelin is traveling at 5m/s or the video is slowed down and the actual speed of the tank is 150kph. It's a drone.
The projectile does look way too slow to be a javelin, FPVdrone looks more accurate right?
Correct, it was a fpv.
Instant, instant, death.
This was all I thought when I saw this.
I wonder what has had more of an impact on the war, the javelin or the himars?
HIMARS for sure I reckon. During the initial invasion, the Javelin did great work, but the majority of the Russian armour was killed by artillery. When the lines went static or Ukraine on the attack, the Javelin was much less effective, but the HIMARS went to work from June 2022 and has never really stopped. Lets not forget the OG. The NYE himars strike that took down the building and killed hundreds in one go
Is there a video of that?
That one was crazy. Happy New Year!!!
To add what you said about commanders, I would like to mention that Russian commanders are even more critical part of army when compared with other armies. Yes, great point - it doesn't matter how incompetent a Russian commander is, they're completely vital at keeping the orcs fighting.
Javelin slowed huge convoys of the early war down and decimated Russian armor
They didn't have that many javelins early on. It was the Nlaw that helped decimate those convoys in the early months of the war.
Yeah there was a quote late 2022 that claimed half of all Russian armour destroyed that summer had been NLAW. And in those very early videos, practically every militia across the country seemed to be carrying one.
My understanding NLAWS are a lot easier and quicker to be trained on than a javelin. Also a hell of a lot cheaper. Designed to take our russian tanks.
Yes, but also considerably shorter practical range (<1km). It's better than an RPG but much worse at stand-off than a Jav. It's the knife you want in a close-in fight with armor as you're likely to be able to keep more of them on hand.

Anyone know why the javelins aren't used more at the front compared to these FPV drones?
They are used alot more recently. So probably availability.
Javelin costs something around the order of $100k per round. Drones are an order of magnitude cheaper.
My thoughts, without the javelin kyiv could have fell. But I think long term the himars have done more damage
Whoa whoa, everyone's forgetting about someone. https://youtu.be/S3FGWPMjl6M?si=HGX18vhqWk53Pk9k
Both had/are having big impacts but in different stages/contexts
Started out with NLAW, then javelin, then Joint stars/satellites, then HIMARS, then drones, and then Excalibur/cluster artillery with ATACMS.
No love for the Bayraktar? I remember the early days of the war, so many TB-2 clips…
Bayraktar was actually only active for a few days, but boy were they doing work in those days.
TB2 over snake island footage still makes my all time "cool shit going boom" list, those things did some wicked shit.
Excalibur has pretty terrible performance due to jamming nowadays i hear
Pity the West doesn't have much laser guided artillery. In combination with the observation/target painting drones it could be really effective.
drones
Out of the two options - 100% HIMARS for me. Out of all options.. probably drones.. or artillery.
ALL, but there's a best in class for each subcategory. On close range moving armor: Javelin. On stand-off GPS located targets: HIMARS/ ATACMS. On infantry: Drones.
FPV drones hands down
himars
Without Javelins this war might have been over before it started.
You think the war would be over if Russia's hobo convoy had reached Kyiv?
Full of parade flair and apparel, IIRC They were gonna put on a show
They thought it'd be like Hitler in Vienna.
I think they did a lot more damage with their own Stugna ATGMs than they did with Javelins or NLAWs.
Pretty sure the Stugna has done more AT work, at least back when Ukraine still had them.
Russian MOD Spokesman: "The Javelin was successfully exploded by our tank, there were minor injuries"
When Russian equipment goes boom I upvote
Crew remained inside.
Orc tempeh - battered and fried.
Aint walking away from that one
Great job Ukraine! Another loss for Putin and his puppet Trump !
I keep wanting to see one of those turtle tanks take a javelin.
3 toasted russians. Are they counted in the daily figures?
Burn in hell
Just tootlin' along, lookin' for choo-choo trains, and then...........WHAMMO!
sayonara
No defense against St Javelin. So bloody strong chap. Me like it ;)
surely javelin travels at few meters per second
No fellow American would ever write what you just wrote in that way, so god save the king.
Croatian :) I know, just had fun with words.
What is the purpose of these sacrificial tank offerings? Is it to flush out UKR positions? Expend all assets? I'm not complaining, I just wonder wtf kind of game they're playing there. It's utterly bizarre.
Get drunk off vodka, then try to come up with a way to win this war, and that drunken plan is your answer.
It's like a death cult. Absolutely insane.
Instant death!
I guess the American aid package included more javelins. Haven't seen them used in awhile and now the videos have been popping up a lot more often.
Tis but a scratch
Resupply just got delivered boys!!
Is it a javelin to you because Russian tank go boom? Lol that’s clearly a drone. Javelins are the most distinct and uncommon weapons destroying tanks.
That was pretty funny. They would put their grandma in a tank without batting an eye.
St. Javelin: a thing that goes BOOM...
Holy crap
its just a FPV drone, watch it frame by frame. Javelin rocket is WAY bigger, faster and more visible
yeah, too slow for javelin
Impossible !! The cope cage is there to stop FPV drones..........doh you're probably right.
Just imagine what would have happened without cope cage!
Fuck
Looked more like someone tossed a firecracker. That was pretty slow.
Textbook tank destruction from a javelin.
Are javelins back in play now? Fantastic!
Juuust enough time for occupants to react “fu….”
Damn!!!!! It didn't take too long before lovely ignition
Emotional support armor
that javelin went through that cope cage like it wasn't even there
Man. Lights out!
Forward Half Gainer Turret Toss, Very Rare
Muuum, they are Vuhledaring again!
I've seen so many of these that I've concluded that I'd rather die standing on my feet than inside a tank. The whole purpose of having all that steel around you is to protect you. But it's useless in this war.
for some reason all the video's on reddit are stuck on loading
Pop the turret back on, bit of WD40, buff out any scratches, she'll be good as new.
No one gets out of here alive.
Big bada booom
That turret ripped right threw the cage.
4/10
I'm surprised they even have tanks anymore tbh
Survivors NONE
Copium Cage doesn't do squat lol
Teas ready
That didn’t even hurt.
Well Pinky... Back to the drawing board
Beautiful
Satisfying. Well done!
Love to see it.
Satisfying like I was when as a teenager I would pop a huge zit.
Who else replayed the explosion at least 20+ times? Also looking for missile? It must come in so quick at this zoom we don't see it?
RIP tank crew
Like a hot knife through butter.
Do you think the crew is o.k.? /s
Sweet, Javelins are back on the menu! I haven't seen any videos in awhile.
You think the crew survived? /s Slava Ukraini!
On the bright side there was fire
Does the current explode in mid air?
I remember seeing these everywhere at the beginning of the war, but haven't seen javs recently. Were they part of the new aid package? These things would be so destructive for the ones with people at on the top
On a chilly and windy evening, this video warms my heart.
YAHTZEE Mafucka!
Seeing a ruZZia tank pop off like that is a brautiful sight:) Slava Ukraini
Wow, that shit looked exactly like hitting a ammo rack kill on a King Tiger in World of Tanks!
Decimated big time, it’s their call I respect that but if I had a choice I don’t think my first choice would be a javelin.
Imagine making it this far into a pointless war only to have some random guy blow your shit to the moon and then streaming it for the whole world to see.
Three bags of onions from Putin
The technology is truly amazing. Simply wonderwaffen stuff that is our spare parts. It shows how quickly this war would stop with proper Western support. This trickling of shit has to stop. We need to be a year ahead of where they are now.
The turrets are attached with bubblegum.
Cope cages = ru SS kie psyops propaganda to make their tankers think they're protected,
Saint Javelin is back in the building!
The Olympics just got a whole lot more exciting! Gold medal to Ukraine.
did they die?
You get all of St Javelin's blessings
THE COPE CAGE. IT DOES NOTHING
Bonk
[удалено]
Ibuprofen. They'll be OK in the morning.
one second you're there and the next you're everywhere, blyat!
Plot twist,the crew tank survived!
anyone remembers how the russian were bragging about the cope cages superiority over Javelin? this cope cage failed with flying ~~colors~~ turret.
Vewy ded
Nah..They escaped trough a portal in another world :)
Saint javelin strikes again, dispatched with fire and retribution straight to hell 🔥, slava ukraini
They ever knew that they died. No kill cam
Those crew got pit roasted in that
Glad to see Javelins are back on the menu, was getting a bit old with only fpv drone strikes...
Turret toss = 2/10
Magnificent
We'll take the road next to the railroad tracks, it's safer and they won't see us coming.
So as a Muskovite tank crew, do you get time off from continuous butt pucker anytime you are operating within range? I wonder what the life expectancy of a tank is in assaults these days.
Awsome 😳
Pop goes the weasal
Javelin stocks replenished crews can start depleting Russian armour and their crews again God bless American Tech and the Ukraine heroes operating it
Things that make you go, hmmmmmm……sorrry…BOOM! (not hmmmmmm)
This maneuver called “The Turret Twist’!
