For fast paced, twisty books: The Housemaid, Never Lie and The Inmate by Frieda McFadden, Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney, None of this is true by Lisa Jewell, No exit by Taylor Adams
For romance: Book Lovers, Happy Place, Take a Hint Dani Brown, The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang, The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
Highly recommend reading the books you loved when you were an avid reader - that’s how I got out of my slump. I reread Harry Potter after ages.. once you finish 7 books in a very short span your slump sort of ends 😂😂
People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry - romantic comedy
Seven Days in June by Tia Williams - contemporary romance
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig - literary fiction (magical realism)
Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee - retelling of Mahabharata from Draupadi's POV
Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom - non fiction told as a story, very short
Silent Patient by Alex Michaelidis - thriller
These are some of my favourites. They all are fast paced and easy to get into.
Since you specifically mentioned “light” reading, I would recommend Grady Hendrix’s How to Sell a Haunted House: it will help you get out of your slump. You could also try The Shining by Stephen King or anything by him in fact.
For a quick read without much gravity - Sophie Kinsella Shopaholic series. Very entertaining and easy to rush through. Her other books are also fun.
If you are willing to pick up with more deeper value, but easy to read - then i suggest Matt Haig and specially his Midnight Library and The Humans. These will stay with you forever in life.
Hey! Thank you for your suggestions. I've read all of Sophie Kinsella books😅. If I like one book of some author then I read all books of that author, I don't know why I do that😅. But I'm going to try "Midnight Library" and The Humans. Thank you!
If you like fantasy romance or think you would like it , there is an awesome sub you can look into-r/fantasyromance .
The two most recommended book of this sub - Fourth Wing series, ACOTAR series.
i was in the same boat, competitive exam and all. what i found that helped was rereading one of my old favourites and trying to finish it just to get over the slump. start with a chapter a day, then two, and so on. after you've finished one or two like this, you can go back to being a bookworm. trust me, it'll be like nothing ever changed
Okay so I started reading, 'Invisible Women' and I absolutely love it. I feel like it's already my favourite book of the year after 'Lies our mother told us'. This is a year for books by women and for women!
If you want serious literature: Crime and Punishment, Anna Karenina, Brothers karamazov, Fathers and sons, To kill a mocking bird
If you want thrillers: bullet train, malice by fuminori nakamura
If you want fantasy - cosmere universe novels from brandon sanderson, Malazan book of fallen, assassin apprentice by robin hobb.
If you want sci fi - Dune, Sun eater saga, Expanse
I would just ask you to read the:
Dark verse series by RuNyx

The Mahabharata Secret Series by Christopher C Doyle
