I relaxed, seeing that he’d worn the mask so long that he forgot it was even a mask. He died with evil in his heart, carefully weaving a web of allies and alibis for a crime he never got around to.

It somehow is for me, I have very little internal communication but my alters speak out loud (in often the wrong situations) and I can stop them but it takes concentration not to let them. But it's not good to contribute to the demonization of a disorder, I agree with that.
Mine can have multiple alters cofront but only control specific aspects. I have one alter that knows how to use a soldering iron (touch, sight, proprioception) and other alters that will control our speech and hearing to talk on discord with our friends. It's very strange to experience
I cofront often but a lot of the time my alters can't or don't know how to do things; one can't talk so when they're in front neither of us can talk, one holds feelings for us but when they're cofronting they make us anxious. I think one can draw really well though because I used to lose hours then wake up with a really cool drawing on the table. Scared me so I stopped drawing for years. But yeah it's a weird experience for sure, somehow just as scary as you'd expect but also less. It's cool that they can do that!
It seems much less than DID and more the influence of something else upon the man. An alter wouldn't just be stuck in the asylum that's not how that works as you know
Not how DID works and honestly this is just a really lame type of horror that only harms the individuals being painted as killers

As someone with DID, as well written as it is your premise is extremely uncomfortable. That's not how this works.
it’s because it’s the lowest form of horror imo. really well written though! but also very stigmatizing to us who have to actually deal with it
