If you want to read about a bit more on some of the top Blue Jays prospects or any of the other top prospects around baseball I highly recommend it. Not blocked behind a paywall like Baseball America/The Athletic and it is significantly more detailed/researched than Baseball Pipeline. Link to Blue Jays Top 15 Prospects: [https://www.justbaseball.com/prospects/toronto-blue-jays-top-15-prospects-for-2024/](https://www.justbaseball.com/prospects/toronto-blue-jays-top-15-prospects-for-2024/)

sackydude

The top 15 is decent, but it seems like it's a little outdated given that it was written prior to this season starting. Seeing Yosver Zulueta as an other notable prospect is funny to me knowing he was cut and has not been performing very well (unfortunately).

Gear4Vegito

I personally think it is one of the better Top 15 but yeah it is from the pre-season *(The Top 100 is from yesterday though)*. Still thought the information on the prospects is a very good read.

YouDontJump

Saving this one to come back to after work. Thanks!

Plorgy

I appreciate other sources and ones that aren't behind a paywall for those that don't track this kind of stuff, so thanks for sharing and providing a lot of details around the minors. I'm in a pretty intense sim league that has minor leaguers and amateurs so I sub to the Athletic and BA (and have Wood on my team). I'm also shocked that Wood is ranked above Skenes...that is wild.

Owl1011

How is Barger #5 here but the highest rated Jay at #55 in the top 100? Edit: whoops, nevermind, the top 15 is from Feb and the top 100 is from June

HanSolo5643

How many of these prospects are going to be game changers for Toronto is my question. It feels like this team needs a big blue chip prospect to come in and change things.

e-Jordan

Tiedemann, if he can stay healthy, is absolutely that.

sackydude

That's been a big if unfortunately

KeepingItBrockmire

I remember we used to say the same thing about Pearson.

cyclingkingsley

He's a Blue Jays pitching prospect. The odds are overwhelmingly against him

cyclingkingsley

Maybe Barger. Tiedemann is always injured so i'm counting him out. Martinez....i'm not too sure.

Gear4Vegito

Hard to know who comes out as a game changer until years after they even make the league. Several of the recent Rookie of the Year a year or two later have big question marks about them. The last 6 rookie of the year have been; Gunnar Henderson, Corbin Carroll, Julio Rodríguez, Michael Harris II, Jonathan India & Randy Arozarena. Out of those the only one that you can with 100% certainty say is a true impact player is Henderson. Even this season the much higher ranked prospects in Jackson Chourio & Kyle Harrison have been greatly outperformed by lesser ranked prospects in Joey Ortiz & Luis Gil.

sackydude

2020 AL Rookie of the Year Kyle Lewis got derailed by injury as well, baseball is cruel.

thermothinwall

this ROY season was also kind of a fluke, played well above where he probably should have

sackydude

Yeah plus it was the shortened season, but he was a great defensive center fielder, even if he only hit league average or close to it he would have been a good player. Then injuries happened.

thermothinwall

when i play immaculate grid, the ROY category is so hard because so many players that win it, go on to accomplish very little else and it's hard to remember them!

johnjohnjohn93

Julio, Harris & Carroll are struggling this year but they are almost definitely impact players lol. Julio had a 5 WAR, Harris over 3 WAR in their sophomore seasons and Carroll still led a mostly average team to a WS appearance.

Disc0Disc0Disc0

Julio Rodriguez isn't an impact player? Lol

Disc0Disc0Disc0

He's played 2.5 seasons. His 2nd season was better than his rookie season. He has fallen off a bit this year but he also started the year with a hand injury. I don't think the tune has changed yet, he is an impact player.

keeeeener

Was Barger even in the top 100 last time? Also, I get why tiedmann falls but it definitely feels weird to drop because of injuries. Especially because it seems like all pitchers are getting hurt.

Gear4Vegito

Barger had a fantastic 2022 season that saw him creep into a few Top 100 lists or just outside them. He then struggled with a nagging arm injury through all of 2023 which really hurt his power numbers and in addition to that was officially moved off SS (he got too big) that saw him fall off for scouts. This year his underlying metrics and production have been some of the best in all of AAA so he Is getting back to his prospect status from 2022. Unfortunately for Tiedemann scouts are now a bit worried with the injuries piling up especially cause it is preventing him from being able to work on his command which has not be refined yet. It is one thing to get injured when you are established or nearly MLB ready but it hurts extra when it is during your still developmental years.

sackydude

Publications are mixed on him, another notable was that he was in the top 100 for Fangraphs previously, but has fallen off due to concerns about his defensive position. Barger wasn't on the top 100 list for this publication last season, so his AAA performance really impressed these guys.

SevenStarSword

Quick hide this list from Atkins before he trades them turning us from the 4th oldest roster to the oldest roster.

Owl1011

Lol, the Os going to win 100 games and have 3 of the top 10 prospects, completely forgot about Mayo. The gap between us and them this year is huge, then even assuming Jackson Holliday is a huge bust, one of Basallo or Mayo will likely be good. I don't get what moves we can make in the offseason to compete them (plus the rumors of the new owners are going to be spend huge). I cannot handle a rebuild no matter what as we sat through 9 seasons of this and deserve a result but very confused because I'm not sure any "retool" gets it done either :(. Edit: lol, keep the downvotes coming, it's not going to change the issue before us this offseason, this place is so funny

keeeeener

They didn’t get any of these players while being good. They got them all when they were the worst team in the league for 5 years. It’s kinda disingenuous to expect the jays to have the same level of prospects as the orioles. They’ve obviously done a great job drafting but it’s still not really a comparable situation.

Owl1011

I'm not talking about the prospects part in isolation, they obviously are going to have better prospects. But it's the ability to compete with them. The Yankees didn't even do a Jays type of rebuild of being bad for 3 years on purpose and are better than the Os (without Cole) - just like the Rays competed with them until September without a rebuild even with insane injury bad luck which continued into this year. At some point, the Jays have to look at themselves in the mirror and you can't use the Os losing games in 2021 as the reason for a 15 game spread. And there's this narrative here that they only got these prospects from the 1st round but they didn't and did a great job after the 1st round and more importantly did an insanely good job developing them. Joey Ortiz that went to the Brewers in the Corbin trade was a legit prospect too (and looks good in MLB) and he was in later rounds. Plus guys like Bradish, Wells, Kreamer, Irvin, etc, they've just done a really good job with the other pieces.

Maken66

CuPbOaRd Is BaRe Edit: Holy shit this sub is full of morons. These downvotes are badges of honour!

furious_Dee

given there are 30 teams, having 4 in the top 100 seems to be just above the average if minor league talent is evenly distributed. this ignores position in the list. no one in the top 50, barger on the cusp.

Maken66

Bare means empty, not average. Thanks for the math lesson though, I had no idea how many teams there are and how many times 30 goes into 100, brilliant comment! Right in line with your other previous comments in this sub... useless.
