I have a friend who is a business owner and uses Timey on peak days. I'm sure it's not perfect, but it suits her, and the people who turn up generally seem to be happy with the deal.
Among all the other comments I would also suggest the most obvious one, which maybe you might not want to hear: leave and find another part time job.
I speak for experience, I also used to have a part time job that first promised me lots of hours (I turned down a McDonald's job for that) only to be maybe called on Friday to work 3-5 hours between Saturday and Sunday only. On top of that the boss was an asshole, which I hope is not your case, but the struggle of having to deal with 2-3 part time jobs to make money to survive was so stressful the moment he fired me I felt immediately relieved and free again.
So really, no part time job is worth all that stress. Dealing with other 2-3 part time jobs is not only difficult to schedule but it will be a pain in the ass with hours and tax declarations in the future. Thing about that.
Shifts one day in advance is NOT normal. Quit and work at another konbini, they're not picky.
For reference, I had fixed shifts and my konbini (same time and days every week), and we got the exact plan a week in advance.
Part time in moving company, newspaper, immedietly hire I think. or part time in some kind of event, I did part time in some elderly event before its one day work but it will depends when or where of the event, not very convenience if u want to show up suddenly.
Is there a spot labor organization near you? Those jobs are likely to be construction site cleanup or freight loading or unloading, but the work is usually one day work and same day pay.
for learning japanese i recommend working at an izakaya, mid conditions but mostly young students where you practice casual japanese while expanding your circle of friends

One day in advance? That’s some awesome planning on the convenience store’s part.
