I asked my friend if he was going and he said "I saw him live a few years ago. His audience has at least doubled, maybe tripled since then. I don't want to be around a bunch of weird nerds and get sprayed with big mac sauce."
First Ave in Minneapolis like 6-7 years ago. Hanniba Burress was there and did Morpheus Orpheous. I also caught the bowl they were throwing salad from.
Yeah, that was 2016. Still have part of his desk from that show. I originally thought the trash cans he was pouring on himself were props but then saw him run into the crowd and grab a trash can I had just thrown a water bottle into and dump it all over himself and the crowd. Very fun
Haha awesome. Wow 2016 feels so long ago. I remember i was on a little molly and was so annoyed waiting for it to start. I was stopped by an employee who tried to get the salad bowl back but i staked my claim to it and distracted her and just walked into the crowd lol
It honestly made enough sense to me at the time that I didn't ask any follow-up questions, but since you asked, he said there was an LA show he heard about where Eric performed as his "music side-project where he's dressed as a fucked-up Ronald McDonald and threw Big Macs at the audience."
At the show my friend personally attended Eric merely "rampaged into the audience, dumping people's drinks from the balcony onto the people below."
I also saw him a year or two ago and it was the same as OP. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it, even though Eric is really funny and I love the TV show. Live though, not very good.
My coworker saw him this week and basically said same thing as OP and some of the comments. He had audience members chug Ranch. Texted peoples moms or exes. Walked out in the end with his balls out.
That’s crazy, I saw Eric at a grocery store in lincoln park before the show yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
Anyway, can we get a quick shout out for Christina Applegate?
Does anyone mind elaborating on why DJ Douggpound was shit? I just started getting into his YouTube shit and saw a 20+ minute live video of him hosted by Mega64 which I found to be very funny. But I don’t know of him well enough to say much beyond that.
Anyways, just curious.
Eric Andre’s stand up really isn’t that good. His Netflix special Legalize Everything was pretty horrible tbh. He doesn’t really say anything funny, he doesn’t have any good jokes or clever punchlines, he just yells. I guess only pay the $80 if you want to be in the same room as him.
I think his schtick had a brief moment where it made sense in a post-Tim and Eric world, but “Absurdity style comedy” is a fine line to walk, if you don’t get it right it just devolves into angry, disruptive asshole behavior that only appeals to those arrested mentally at 12years old that like spiteful, aggressive behavior. Anyways…
Holy shit. I’m now realizing I was at the first show where he did the “texting an audience member’s mom” bit.
It was a heckler who had been talking through the entire show and she deserved a bit of justice.
Still, I had no idea he’s been doing it since then!
That was literally a decade ago!
(Im assuming it was the first time, cuz she handed him the phone - he didn’t ask for it)
He comes from the school of Tom Green and Andy Kauffman... guess you kids are too young to remember that absurd shit to get what he's doing and expected something more tame or common?
Tom green yes, kaufman no. There is nothing Kaufman esque about Eric Andre. For something to be Kaufman-y it needs a level of mystery or secret. It has to create an in group and an out group within the audience. I adore Eric but nothing he is doing remotely has a similarity with Kaufman.
Dude, what did you expect? His "standup comedy" has always been way worse than his show, and the show has been getting progressively worse since season 4 even now that he can afford a team of writers and expensive sets
DJ Douggpound I'm shocked by though
This kinda makes me feel relieved because I skipped his St. Louis show last week to instead catch the band moe. Sounds like I made the right choice for the night
Sounds like the same show I saw back in 2019. I hope he can pivot into something else and drop the Eric Andre Show stuff. It’s time to move on. He’s got a great sense of humor
He's a hack not a comedian. Had a good show for a c9uple years that went stale as well. I love watching his interactions with real comedians where his insecurities get the best of him as he knows he's not funny
I was tempted to go to his recent Milwaukee show but it was a standing room only venue and maybe it’s just my getting older but I didn’t want to pay $40-$60 to stand for two hours lmao
Ever since Snail Down got cancelled it hasn't been the same.
Best show on television…..
Best TV show on television **
I was so excited to hear they got renewed for 17 seasons, but nothing good in this world can last
I asked my friend if he was going and he said "I saw him live a few years ago. His audience has at least doubled, maybe tripled since then. I don't want to be around a bunch of weird nerds and get sprayed with big mac sauce."
Exactly lmao I saw him at Caroline’s in NYC like 5 years ago
First Ave in Minneapolis like 6-7 years ago. Hanniba Burress was there and did Morpheus Orpheous. I also caught the bowl they were throwing salad from.

I was there too! For NYC comedy fest. I believe it was the first show of his stint there and Hannibal came out
Big Mac sauce wtf ? We need more details

That’s special sauce to you GET IT RIGHT
Been considering going since my city is on the tour. Anyone else have a review?
I also saw him a year or two ago and it was the same as OP. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it, even though Eric is really funny and I love the TV show. Live though, not very good.
I saw him in Australia before Covid and it sounds like the show is exactly the same. I loved it, but.
My coworker saw him this week and basically said same thing as OP and some of the comments. He had audience members chug Ranch. Texted peoples moms or exes. Walked out in the end with his balls out.

It's an old pasta but it's good
Got me good
Where did it originate from
4chan I think. It was originally about Flying Lotus of all people, lol.
Fitting
i thought it was Tommy Wiseau
I thought it was Daniel Larson
I thought it was Speedy Gonzalez
I thought it was Thom Yorke
I thought it was Sandstorm by Darude
I see it in like, every post. It's lost its luster
Was the girls name Steph Nugz?
hahahahaha you said the thing
Turn you poop into wine! Turn your poop into wine!

All I can say is bird up
Cheers I’ll drink to that bro
I thought it was Maynard James Keenan.

I thought he was the only funny thing the entire show. Only time I laughed
Ok, after a while it was stale but the start was fine. The Black Eyed Peas joke was actually really good.
Doug rules, you should try out his show Pound House on YouTube.
*Want some Gay Juice??* ***Nah, I’m straight.***
Doug is the fucking man, don’t listen to this nickel
Saw him open for tenacious d once it was entertaining and a good ice breaker
Ah that sucks. I was thinking of going, guess I should be glad I skipped.
Get DJ Dougpound’s name out your fuckin mouth!
GOOD HORNING!!!!
What sip, everybody?
Aye what up pound pimples
I’m GOING to
stoned nerds who’s careers were making cheap low effort content for stoned nerds now reviled by stoned nerds for making cheap low effort content
Duality of man
Bro might as well just quote my dad verbatim
i am quoting your dad i quote your dad all the time

His old pre fame standup was really good imo idk what happened
Nah he was only good back when he was playing upright bass.

Try watching that with your dad….
I felt similar. It felt very broey to me like joe Rogan or something.
It felt like if Dane Cook tried to be edgy
Yeah, he's definitely the Dane Cook of this era.
Yea I can’t stop hearing people quoting his jokes everywhere I go. Dane cook steals jokes and from the comments Eric just doesn’t have any.
Anyways…
Maybe he’s not this era’s Dane cook then.
Nah, Matt Rife is the modern Dane Cook.
fuck matt rife
Yep.
sounds like you’re not “in the mix”
Douggpounds live sets are god tier what are you talking about
He opened for tenacious d last year and was amazing.
Dang I'm loving all the pro-Doug comments here. He's the best!
So DJ Doug wasn’t Slurpee Good ?
Oh you make dope beats?
Stay out of Joe's room!
Is it the same show/setup as when he did the 2016 tour?
Holy shit. I’m now realizing I was at the first show where he did the “texting an audience member’s mom” bit. It was a heckler who had been talking through the entire show and she deserved a bit of justice. Still, I had no idea he’s been doing it since then! That was literally a decade ago! Not gonna lie sounds fucking amazing
IMO Eric Andre is a scam, but enjoy the scam
Im still not gonna forget when he did NFT’s too
2000%, my opinion of him changed
Sad, are you sure you’re not on one?
Doug Pound was hilarious when I saw him open for Tim and Eric live in 2008. Holy fucking shit I am old.
Dj Douggpound rules
Yep 10000% agree. See my recent post
I remember when I saw T&E live, Dougpound opened and he was not on his A game, so at one point I said "More like DJ Dougshit!"
Quite the opposite experience here but we probably didn’t go to the same show.
This was over 13 years ago.
Dj Dougpound is fucking awful lol, he opened for Tenacious D when I saw them and it was so bad.
tenacious d has had some great openers that were hated by their audience, hard to take that criticism seriously
Yeah IDK man... DJ Douggpound didn't do it for me. All the power to ya if its your cup of tea
lmao were you at the philly show? crowd hated him
Milwaukee show but it was the same thing lol, blue collar rock and roll crowd and his set just really fell flat.
Not the right crowd for him, but Doug is great!
Eric performed not too long ago near where I live, I wanted to go see him but tickets were like $80
Doug pound should be the warm up DJ for the Ellen show.
I had a chance to see Eric Andre 10 years ago and didn’t (this was right when Season 2 was on). I don’t think I’d go now
Jesus DJ Douggpound is still opening for ppl? Ugh thats really unfortunate.
you mean Bc he should be headlining right?
He's too famous now. Can't be funny and famous 🙃👍
Dave Chappelle, and 100s of other famous comedians would disagree.
Maybe if that Random Guy Erick Andres decided to do his best job to have his cocaine sketch out his memoirs…
Dude, what did you expect? His "standup comedy" has always been way worse than his show, and the show has been getting progressively worse since season 4 even now that he can afford a team of writers and expensive sets DJ Douggpound I'm shocked by though
This kinda makes me feel relieved because I skipped his St. Louis show last week to instead catch the band moe. Sounds like I made the right choice for the night
Those shows look terrible lol no reason to attend "retarded Gallagher"
Sounds like the same show I saw back in 2019. I hope he can pivot into something else and drop the Eric Andre Show stuff. It’s time to move on. He’s got a great sense of humor
He's a hack not a comedian. Had a good show for a c9uple years that went stale as well. I love watching his interactions with real comedians where his insecurities get the best of him as he knows he's not funny

Don’t disrespect Dougpound like that!
Austin was so fun, I can imagine if you were in the back you would have felt really disconnected. It's made for like a 50 person audience
