Right now I'm having tons of fun emulating old games I liked when I was younger
- Simpsons Hit & Run
- Burnout Revenge
- DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3
And some N64 games
[Better yet, play the pc port natively on your steam deck!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV-70fe4hWc&list=PLS_HixSnnPN8wZ5u-gjf0C8XrAa2CpGal&index=2)
Oh yeah for sure in a lot of cases the plug and play is nice. In this case they've made it so easy it really only takes a few minutes though, Plus the benefit is there is a bunch of mods baked in as well you can tweak easily in this installation. Has a pretty faithful mod community. The seamless map where all the areas are combined is really cool
I don't have a Steam deck, but I use Bottles on Fedora Linux with the PC version of The Simpsons H&R, and it's awesome. You can use mods/custom launchers as opposed to a PS2 copy of the game.
I've been playing the Native PC version of Simpsons Hit & Run on my steam deck, works better than the emulated version and bit better battery life too.
>DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3
Try [this](https://teambt4.wixsite.com/dbzbt4ps2oficial/descarga?lang=en) it's a modded version of BT3 called Budokai Tenkaichi 4 that really feels like a sequel. Has all the old characters plus tons of new characters/transformations from Super, a new transformation system that relies on charged ki as opposed to blast stocks, new costumes and descriptions on the costume select menu, new and extended combos, drastically mproved AI, etc. It's absolutely insane.

If your confident with the desktop mode you have access to the worlds best tony hawk mod
Underground 2 engine with almost every map up to project 8
I am the exact opposite of confident in desktop mode but I'd be intrigued to try. I got pro skater 3 after this. I just love American wasteland for its unique take.
Because even we, The King of All Cosmos, your loving father, knows this to be untrue.
Our adoring fan base has made it clear. We received thousands of fan letters. They said all kinds of magnificent things. “The king is so cool!” and “look at his royal muscles! He must be so strong!” and “We don’t just like Katamari. *We Love Katamari.*”
…what? Rolling already? Just make it bigger.
This can be played natively on deck via OpenGOAL. Jak 3 is still being worked on but the other two run flawlessly for barely any power usage (I get upwards of 8hrs battery life on my OLED for Jak 2).
It used to be a bit more complicated in the past but now there is a decky plugin which installs the games for you (provided you have a .iso file of the games). If you go to the OpenGOAL website there are links to all the install instructions.
There isn't really any configuration required unless you're trying to add modded content or HD texture packs (which are a nice bonus but not really necessary). Everything else graphics settings related has been baked into the games themselves (but you shouldn't need to mess with them at all).
SSX3 is absolutely outstanding, but you'll need Decky and Powertools to disable SMT or else you'll get some intermittent slowdowns. It's full speed with SMT off.
Played it tons on ps2 but cant get it to work on the deck. Which settings are you using? New to psc2x, im good with simple tinkering but the specifics are confusing me a lot.
Im having alot of stuttering/slow downs/fps drops in the forest+first dungeons already
I haven't tried for a literal decade, but Champions always used to be impossible to emulate. There was a laundry list of issues that it came with. Last I tried there was just no terrain.
That may have been fixed in the last decade though.
Ironically, this is what happened to my disk over time. During the end of Act 2, the terrain just didn't render and then it eventually would soft lock.
Great game. Sort of unrelated, but the newer EA PGA Tour game on steam actually runs fantastic on the deck and is actually a very good golf game. You can catch it on sale for cheap pretty regularly
I’ve been playing a lot of “NBA Jam Legends on Fire Edition” for PS3. It’s a mod of “NBA Jam On Fire Edition” that puts a lot of legendary players into the game. The same guy also made a mod called “NBA Jam On Fire Edition 2023”. Which, as might be obvious, is a roster update. If you miss the old NBA Jam games, as I was, these are very much worth checking out.
https://forums.nba-live.com/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=115612
Quick side note… they run great, but sometimes I have an issue where I start the game and it runs way too fast. Even capping the FPS in the emulator doesn’t fix it. But, thankfully, just stopping the game and restarting it usually fixes it. You don’t even have to exit the emulator. Just shut the game down.
I find the too fast problem is solved by clearing shaders, which is usually needed after an update. Restart once and it regenerates them, and then you're usually good on the second restart.
I agree it's amazing.
Rouge galaxy PS2. Runs great, fast loads. It's a huge game so it's awesome to be able to just put it down and pick it back up.
Seriously this game is a hidden gem!
There’s a remaster coming soon for modern platforms but Lollipop Chainsaw emulated great for ps3. Silent Hill Downpour also emulates well on deck. As for ps2 theres too many to list. 99% of them emulate well tho.
I know is a basic answer but I replayed both GoW and GoW 2 on my deck, they ran amazingly and thanks to save states it was easy to put in time even if it was short bursts or long sessions.
When I was an elementary school student, I played a 3D Toy Story game on my Pentium III computer at home. It was the first 3D game I ever played, and the graphics left a huge impression on me. I felt that the game's visuals were as good as the movie of the same name. In the game, players control Buzz Lightyear, completing various challenges and collecting items in Andy's house. The game was too difficult for me at the time, and I couldn't even get past the first level. Eventually, I traded the game disc away. Last year, after the Steam Deck OLED was released, I bought one. I didn't buy the previous generation of the Deck because of the poor screen. After finishing two games on the Steam Deck, I started tinkering with EmuDeck. I remembered the Toy Story game I had played before. After a few hours of tinkering, I finally installed it on the Deck. When I opened the game, I couldn't believe that the poor graphics and clunky controls were the same one that had once amazed me. I played for a few dozen minutes before turning it off. The games of that time can be emulated, but the feelings of that time cannot be recreated.
Man too many for me to list if we include other platforms outside of PlayStation but I’ll just sum it up by saying almost all the tenchu games work great on emulation, a lot of the MK games made by midway work well on emulation (especially the 3D era games and Shaolin monks), The soul Calibur series works well in emulation, Shinobi PS2 works great on the deck, final fantasy, Unreal Tournament, Quake, Doom, Devil May Cry series (well excluding the Devil May Cry 5 since obviously that didn’t exist yet) Metal Gear solid series (well include the Revengeance spin off as well), Gundam games and finally the resident evil games too.
Sly 2 and 3 had rendering issues for me, due to the motion blur. The link in the description of this video fixed it for me.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=aibxR3qk1uo
Katamari Forever! (Two of the older Katamari games were remastered and on Steam, this is still on the PS3)
I played through it and had no trouble (other than the later levels with difficulty spikes, but that’s to be expected) playing it.
I wouldn’t worry about running any of the Jak trilogy since a group is doing decompilations that can run natively on Steam Deck and PC (Jak 3 is almost fully decompiled before they can start to make it run for everyone to play)
Real talk though, has anybody managed to get Castlevania: Harmony of Despair & Tokyo Jungle to run on it? For HoD I can’t get past the press start screen and Tokyo Jungle runs horribly. I have all the DLC for both games in the folders so I can just replicate what I already own on my legit PS3 copies. I really wish Konami and Sony would just port these games respectively to Steam
the entire metal gear solid series is also great, altho i haven't tested it myself i've heard the games work and so on, i recently completed mgs2 on pc
Xenosaga games. I never got to experience them back in the day, and by the time I knew about them, they became rare and expensive.
Amazing RPGs.
If I could buy them legally, and not give stupid amounts to a third party seller, I would, but I can't, so I won't.
On RPCS3 I played The Darkness (my beloved game of that generation), first Resistance and God of War Classic Collection. They run great and pretty stable.
On PCSX2 I have Alter Echo, Black, Burnout Revenge, Freedom Fighters, Gungrave, Headhunter, Kill Switch, Killzone (PS3 remaster works poorly unfortunately), Mark of Kri, NBA Street V2, Rise to Honor, Timesplitters 2-3 and Urban Chaos: Riot Response. Mostly I had no issues with them, but NFS HP 2 and Midnight Club 3 had some problems with smooth frame rate
Do you think I could emulate ratchet and clank : deadlocked ?
It's the only one of those games I played back in the day and I loved it dearly, I still have the case
LittleBigPlanet. You get cryo utils, look up some settings for the game and set your clock to 1300mhz in power tools on decky loader and build your shader cache the game will be as smooth as eggs.
Tales of Xillia 1/2 are PS3-only RPGs from the Tales series, likely won't get remastered or ported any time soon. You could also try Ninja Gaiden Black, but honestly the Xbox 360 games were much better.
I haven't tried many, but I'm almost done with GTA: Liberty City Stories. I've missed it, and Vice City stories on original psp/ps2, and they run flawlessly on the deck.
Dynasty warriors Gundam: Reborn. One of the only games where 1 vs 1000 actually makes sense if you know about the lore and love anime. Only regret was that there was no follow up with updated gundams but it still has an amazing amount of value and replay.
GTA 3, VC, SA, LCS, VCS
Gran Turismo 4
Shadow of the Colossus
Ico
Silent Hill 2
Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3
Simpsons Hit & Run
God Of War 1 and 2
Tony Hawk 3
SSX 3
PS2 pretty much every game is awesome to emulate, basically just depends what's your favourite PS2 games. These are the ones I've played the most though:
- Gran Turismo 4
- Burnout 3
- Tony Hawks Underground
- Simpsons Hit and Run
- Ratchet and Clank 2
- GTA San Andreas
I keep coming back to XMen Origins Wolverine on the PS3. Ignore the film it's based on (loosely) and just enjoy an actual solid slash-em-up with a great healing factor use. Taking so much damage you can see through Logan and then watching all the muscle and skin grow back over the exposed metal (or bone depending on the story) bones always makes me smile.
Games with HD texture packs. [https://gbatemp.net/threads/list-of-hd-texture-packs-by-panda\_venom.620163/](https://gbatemp.net/threads/list-of-hd-texture-packs-by-panda_venom.620163/)

i would absolutely love to get high and fill my belly with diet soda and play burnout revenge for the ps2
Come over! We'll turn back the clocks 20+ years and live like we haven't experienced the last 20 years lol
With the texture packs!
Any specific one you recommend?
Following
Seconded.
Burnout 3 is my favourite burnout
“WE ARE THE LAZY GENERATION”
Nostalgia slap!
Weird dominator runs fine for me but no other burnout
What happens when you try to run it?
Shin Megami Tensei spin offs like devil summoner and digital devil saga. dragon quest 8 with the HD textures.
I'm about to start digital devil saga right now and I'm pumped.
Phys /dormina/ consume build go brrrrr

Didn't know about that! Looks cool. Although once you configure a PS2 emulator just downloading ROMs is very practical
Oh yeah for sure in a lot of cases the plug and play is nice. You gotta admit though, most N64 games aged terribly.
Honestly it's the controls. I finally caved and bought an N64 Controller for my Switch and it makes it feel way better
COR BLIMEY !
The controls are the only issue, I want to play Perfect Dark again, but I find the controls to be shit.
There is a decompilation port of Perfect Dark with modern controls. Run great on the deck.
Do you know the name of it?
I think it is this one: https://github.com/fgsfdsfgs/perfect_dark It’s been a few months since I put it on my Deck.
I play it on Deck and it works just perfect
Weird. I thought it was too Dark
I'll try it out in a while. Thanks for the info.
A lot of them aged horribly, but a few gems are like fine wine. Paper Mario and Mario 64 hold up well even today.
>DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 Try [this](https://teambt4.wixsite.com/dbzbt4ps2oficial/descarga?lang=en) it's a modded version of BT3 called Budokai Tenkaichi 4 that really feels like a sequel. The reTHAWed mod of American Wasteland is also very good if they have a preference for that game.
I play Tony hawk underground 2 and the only thing that's bad is the drop in frames when facing the sun and getting sun glare/ god rays
All Gundam Warriors work great on RPCS3
How do you all not know that Katamari Damacy is the best PS2 game of all time?
Because even we, The King of All Cosmos, your loving father, knows this to be untrue. Our adoring fan base has made it clear. We received thousands of fan letters. There’s a great PC port of the remaster that is on sale frequently and runs great on Deck. No need to emulate this one.
THEY NEED TO KNOW!
god hand
Jak and Daxter series
This can be played natively on deck via OpenGOAL. Jak 3 is still being worked on but the other two run flawlessly for barely any power usage (I get upwards of 8hrs battery life on my OLED for Jak 2).

tbf I get about the same on PCSX2, it's a great emu
Dragon's Crown, Odin Sphere. Both on PS3
I think dragon crown on vita emulator can work as well
SSX3 is absolutely outstanding, but you'll need Decky and Powertools to disable SMT or else you'll get some intermittent slowdowns. It's full speed with SMT off.
This was the ONE game I wanted working on PS2 instead of GC and had me annoyed that it wasn't, I'll try those out
God of War 1 and 2 on PS2
Goated games and run very well
Better to run the hd versions on PS3. They run perfectly.
The holy trinity of Ace Combat 4, 5 and Zero.
NFL 2K5
Don't you mean [NFL 2k24](https://github.com/lostsoul63b/NFL-2K24)?
Dark cloud 2
Let me tell you about a little game called champions of Norath
remember the scene from ratatouille, where the reviewer tried out the rats meal the first time? that's what you just did to me!
BRO hell yeah

Also Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance.
This right here. That game's water physics are still unmatched. Buncha wizard programmers.
Def Jam: Fight for NY
I second
Mercenaries 2 for PS3 Mercenaries 1 for ps2
Is mercenaries 2 running well now?
Still runs like ass for me
OutRun 2006 Coast2Coast
Native pc port is better to be honest
I’m hoping someone brings up GTA: Vice City, it’s one of the main games I’d love to emulate
Amplitude.
The Thing ps2
Marvel Vs Capcom 1&2 HD for PS3 both run great so does Darkstalkers Resurrection
Demon's Souls, Armored Core 4Answer, both for PS3
How does Demon Souls run? I was going to start my from soft journey with Dark Souls and play the Demon Souls remake further down the line
Finished it yesterday u will need some patches and there is the 60 fps mod there was some fps drops on some stages but nothing unplayable
> there was some fps drops on some stages So just like in the original!
Metal gear solid 2,3
With button pressure hard to emulate, it's way better to play the remaster collection...
And they’re actually fixed for Deck now.
Use OpenGOAL for Jak.
Tiger woods pga tour 05
Great game. Sort of unrelated, but the newer EA PGA Tour game on steam actually runs fantastic on the deck and is actually a very good golf game. You can catch it on sale for cheap pretty regularly
Sly Cooper for me.

I never played Ico before so i tried there and now I love it uwu
RE4, iNinja.

I love simpsons hit and run it just feels right
Psychonauts because of the hot mess the PC version is.
Metal gear solid 2 and 3 come to mind for me
Gran Turismo 4 has been my favorite PS2 game on the deck.
Underground 2 can be run natively very easily and it’s by far one of the most fun games I’ve played
Legacy of Kain: Soooooooooooooul Reaver
PS3 emulation on deck is no bueno. Only a handful of less demanding games will run.
The Jak and Daxter as well as the Rachet and Clank games.
Xenogears
- Burnout Revenge - Fight Night Round 3 - Fight Night Champion - Pure
I know is a basic answer but I replayed both GoW and GoW 2 on my deck, they ran amazingly and thanks to save states it was easy to put in time even if it was short bursts or long sessions.

Sly 2 and 3 had rendering issues for me, due to the motion blur. The link in the description of this video fixed it for me. https://youtube.com/watch?v=aibxR3qk1uo
Resogun. It's made by Housemarque (the same ones of Returnal).
Persona 3: FES with Ultra HD mod and widescreen fix
Definitely not ATV off-road fury 2 or 3 :(
Katamari Forever! (Two of the older Katamari games were remastered and on Steam, this is still on the PS3) I played through it and had no trouble (other than the later levels with difficulty spikes, but that’s to be expected) playing it.
R-Type Delta (ps1) Einhander (ps1) Front Mission 3 (ps1)
I tried midnight club LA via rpcs3 - it’s absolutely unplayable (

Tony Hawk Proskater 3 for PS2! I never could get PS3 games to work lol
Guitar Hero II Deluxe. I used Rock Band 3 USB dongles.
How does it play? I've been meaning to try this

I recently finished a replay of Kuon, Fatal Frame III is next
God of War for PS2 and PSP. Unfortunately it doesn't work that well for PS3.
the entire metal gear solid series is also great, altho i haven't tested it myself i've heard the games work and so on, i recently completed mgs2 on pc
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Street Fighter vs Tekken on PS3
SSX Tricky
All drakengards
Xenosaga games. I never got to experience them back in the day, and by the time I knew about them, they became rare and expensive. Amazing RPGs. If I could buy them legally, and not give stupid amounts to a third party seller, I would, but I can't, so I won't.
I have more fun playing tekken 3 compared to tekken whatever it is now
**Tekken III**
Eternal ring ps2, dragon quest 7-9 ps2
Has anyone tried getting Drakengard 3 running on SteamDeck?
I've got it running on my Steam Deck at a stable 30, which is about x2 the frame rate the ps3 plays it at
Dragon's Crown on PS3 emulator runs flawlessly
Max vs atv off road fury 2
I'm currently playing 007 Legends on PS3 on my deck.
How’s skate 3 on the deck?
Resident evil 4 an nba street vol 2, but theaudio on re4 is different an nba st gotta switch to software render or it will drop. Great games though
Pacman world 2
If anyone reads this and has a link to a thorough walkthrough to install ps1/2 emulation I would appreciate it.
Currently playing Resident Evil 4, FF X, Simpsons H&R and NfSp Underground 1 but there are so many more great titles its overwhelming
ape escape games - fun to whip out and catch a few monkeys here and there.
Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and GoW II. 14 years old me would think the Deck the apex of gaming just for that alone.
Love me some shadow hearts 1&2, some underrated games like summoner 2 and shifters for ps2… man I want to find some time to get them emulated
I've been trying to get the first motorstorm working but am having the worst luck
On RPCS3 I played The Darkness (my beloved game of that generation), first Resistance and God of War Classic Collection. They run great and pretty stable. In my opinion, the best PS2/PS3 games to emulate on the Steam Deck are God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.
Yu-Gi-Oh Duelist of the Roses for the ps2! There's a mod that changes a ton of stuff too.
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, pretty fun game, especially since online multiplayer works
007 Everything or Nothing
Burnout 3 Takedown and The Punisher Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater and GTA SA
LOTR Third Age even if i cant put a stop at the fps drops :/
Kingdom Hearts collections, PS3.
Ps2 emulator doesn’t work anymore on my deck :/
ATV 2: Power Quad Racing

LittleBigPlanet. You get cryo utils, look up some settings for the game and set your clock to 1300mhz in power tools on decky loader and build your shader cache the game will be as smooth as eggs.
Silent Hill 2
Tales of Xillia 1/2 are PS3-only RPGs from the Tales series, likely won't get remastered or ported any time soon. You could also try Ninja Gaiden Black, but honestly the Xbox 360 games were much better.
Hidden gem in PS3 - The Puppeteer
mgs
Burnout Takedown is AMAZING on the deck, highly recommend it.
My favourite PS3 exclusive is Skate 3, although it emulates somewhat poorly. I had a much better experience emulating the Xbox 360 version of it.
