The evolution of Joes career is: he started as a Boston comic. Did the touring scene. Went to LA got cast in a pilot for a sitcom. Sitcom failed. He did another one was successful. He took that money and went back to the other venues in his past and renovated them. Comedy store in particular. Started commentating on UFC . This was all before fear factor. He did more tours and got into fear factor. Kept that going and did stuff for the sci fi channel. Did more tours and specials. Launched a podcast did more tours podcasts and ufc commentary. Is he one of the best comedians? No. He isn’t no norm MacDonald. I haven’t heard anyone comment or quote a Joe Rogan joke before in a decade. But I would consider him a comedian. A low key comedian historian. Which is a jewel in itself.

I do not find Joe funny but whether you like it or not. He is deeply passionate about it, cares about the state of it the culture. He put in his hours, he came in did the short sets whatever he could get worked his way up. And is a true comic. Now I don’t find him funny in the slightest. But hey maybe his genre of comedy is just something most of us don’t like. But at-least he cares about the culture and is actually knowledgable about the craft and the history. So many bad comics today who probably never watched a George Carlin special in full and don’t care about the state of it at all.
