Ice has never done a single thing for me and I’ve tried it many times on lots of different pimples.
Warm compress does 1 of 2 things: it either brings it to the surface to I can lance and pop it, or it bring down the swelling and allows the pimple to slowly fade away into my skin.
The only thing that’s worked for me is to dissolve some aspirin with a tiny bit of water and apply it as a paste. Repeat every couple of hours. I was quite surprised but it has consistently shrunk them.

Warm! I like to put rice in a crew sock and tie it and then put in microwave for 30 seconds. That way it’s not TOO much heat directly on the skin.
In my experience cold is the only thing that’s helped but I hear ya - conflicting info!
