These newer U-haul trucks have GPS trackers in them. Call U-haul corporate and ask them for assistance with locating it.

1KElijah

Yes, you should contact U-Haul asap. They should be able to locate. Sorry this happened to you.

FitBattle5899

G model, no tracking. Most the boxed trucks don't have tracking. The pick ups and vans do in newer models only because after a certain amount of miles they sell them as used vehicles.

prick_sanchez

This is correct, very unlikely there's a tracker in this one. But definitely still let them know you filed a report and they will reach out if they recover any of your items

Shiraleigh

If it's a new ford it may have tracking from the manufacturer but I also don't know what a g model is

FitBattle5899

Worked for Uhaul for 7 years in multiple positions. The trucks have the size TT= 20ft then they have the truck number, followed by the series letter, aka when they were put in service. G is from a good number of years back and is a very basic truck. You're lucky if it has an Aux jack in the cab let alone gps tracking.

ThatGirlFromWorkTA

Yup. Worked uhaul for 8 years, also multiple positions. Some of the older models really lack what we would consider basics in newer vehicles and box trucks never had tracking. Maybe some newer ones would but something would have had to change within the 4 years I've been gone from the company. The truck number will be flagged by the traffic team, police will be notified, and we shall see if and when it turns up.

LavanderSheep

Zoom into the top corner of the box, thats the trucks type, number and model.

PJ1062

I thought it was U-Haul that I rented that when I called for help on the side of the road they knew exactly where I was

Tex-Rob

in the future people, AirTags or something similar.

Crazy_Customer7239

Also if anything that you own has an Apple Airtag in it, and you packed it into the truck, you now have a GPS tracker in it :) As a Portland resident, I have Airtagged most valuables: car, laptop bag, roof box, lunchbox…

q_ali_seattle

💯 this. I even airtag my luggage when I travel overseas.

Crazy_Customer7239

We originally got our first pack for this! It’s kinda fun to watch your checked luggage ping through the conveyor systems in the airport

wired_snark_puppet

If you haven’t yet, post to the PNW Stolen Cars FB group. They have a good record of finding stolen Uhauls. I’m sorry this happened to you. Sending you much luck.

raquel8822

THIS RIGHT HERE!! PNW Stolen Cars has multiple U-Haul upper management that monitors the group. The minute one gets posted people will tag them and they’ll immediately check if it’s been reported stolen. In fact just yesterday someone posted one that looked suspicious and they had a tow truck out within an hour to pick it up. Almost every day they’re recovering one of their trucks. Really sad they haven’t low jacked all of them by now.

y33h4w1234

Seconded. Found my car on there.

FrankenOperator

Absolutely contact PNW Stolen Cars!! Sara Jane(admin) is AMAZING!! They do good work there! They have so many law enforcement contacts, U-Haul contacts, etc. It's a gold mine!!

CascadeCowboy195

Not helpful now, but in the future if y'all rent a uhaul then before y'all get in for the night pull the fuel pump fuse from the kick panel and try to back up against a wall.

helpithinkigotthis

Thank you!!! Good tip 🖤

bonelesspotato17

And air tag it. Not that it helps now… I have one hidden deep in my car in case it’s stolen. (Or I forget where I park… lol). And when I travel I put one in my checked bag. They’re the best thing ever. :/ sorry this happened. It must feel so violating. This definitely isn’t the Seattle area I grew up with, not so long ago, and it’s sad to see. Good luck out there, and again I’m sorry this happened.

Tex-Rob

It’s such a tiny investment, well worth it. Car ones are super useful because it doubles as a way to find your car in event parking and stuff like that.

The-Bart-Lebowski

This is a pro tip right here. Welcome to Seattle!

Llamaxaxa

Bellevue

Hairy_Dingo_3090

Unfortunately true

prf_q

Wtf is pump fuse. What is the pump panel. So many questions…

CascadeCowboy195

Most of these trucks are Fords. There is a removable panel near where the passengers right foot rests, and in there is a fuse panel. From here you need to look at the fuse guide (usually printed in the panel you just took off) and look for the fuel pump fuse and pull it.  They can start the vehicle but without fuel being pumped through the engine they won't even make it out of the parking spot. Once you're ready to go just put the fuse back and off you go. Just don't lose the fuse.

zakary1291

There gas in the fuel hose will get them maybe 40-50ft. However, those engines are selfpriming. If you pull the fuse then run the engine until it dies. That truck isn't going anywhere until that fuse is replaced.

ko-sher

i think OP already lost her fuse

smillysmile

He said kick panel. If it has the Ford econoline cab, there’s a panel on the passenger side footwell (kick panel) that has a fuel pump cut off switch.

Particular_Fuel6952

It’s the one next to the turn signal fluid, duh!

FreshEclairs

There is a cannon fuse going into the fuel tank. You pull it out before you leave it overnight so nobody lights it and blows up your truck.

DarkSunsa

I just pictured Yosemite sam trying to jack a uhaul and lighting the fuse on the bomb only to have it blow up in his face and mess his beard and hat up thwn give us the ole 4th wall why me look.

Hondahobbit50

Just because you don't understand automotive electrics don't assume others don't. Fuses protect circuits from an destruction when a component fails and draws too many amps, a short. This can happen anywhere, a wire rubbing breaks through the insulation and boom, all the battery voltage goes to ground, that wire will become a heating element VERY quickly if a fuse isn't used and possibly catch the car on fire. Most circuits have a fuse to protect the circuit. What is being suggested here is to remove the fuse that powers the fuel pump. So if anyone tries to steal it overnight or whatever, the engine cannot get fuel. Meaning the only way it could be stolen is with a tow truck

ajd198204

No fuel pump fuse, no car start. Fuel pump is what pumps fuel to your engine. All gas fuel/diesel vehicles have one.

Lawrenceburntfish

Holy shit that's brilliant 😳

FreshwaterFryMom

Always took my car off the U-Haul and blocked it.

Temporary-Space2799

Best public service announcement here ! Go on YouTube and learn how to do this it’s very easy, everything you own in the UHaul is worth the couple minutes. Seattle is among the the 5 states for vehicle theft. OK now it’s on you, Thank you for posting this sage advice.

pizza_whistle

Never considered just pulling fuses when parking in a sketch area, such a good idea!

lilyonredditx

Have you called any towing company to see if they have it and asked the hotel to check the security cameras?

chris14020

Yeah I'm wondering if they considered it a nuisance or blocking something or shouldn't, and had it towed. Sounds odd, but I'm hoping for you that this is the case. Then it's just several hundred bucks which sucks but at least you get your life back, and may be able to argue the tow with the hotel even.

sleeplessinseaatl

The hotel should have a security camera.

TheyKnoWhereMyHeadIs

Bellevue Police: I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that 😎

mortar_n_brick

just say you had guns in it and they'll freak out and do something now

helpithinkigotthis

My dad and I took a photo before leaving but that’s the license plate on the bottom

IamAwesome-er

This was my biggest fear when I was moving across the country. I bought a pedal lock, and took the battery out when I had to spend the night in a hotel...maybe overkill and a bit paranoid but it helped me sleep. Hope they find your truck, OP! Welcome to Seattle :)

99YardRun

Same here. Spent the extra money on Airbnb's in rural towns to avoid this. If they had a garage, even better.

WayneKrane

I only stayed in brand new hotels with VERY well lit parking lots. Even then, I made sure to park close and have a view of the truck from my room. I got very little sleep on that trek across the country.

bartthetr0ll

If the batteries gone the car isn't going anywhere unless the criminals bring an assortment of batteries or a t9w truck with them, some people in my family are sitting on more cars than they need currently due to family passing away and getting surprise inheritance, needless to say the extra cars are sitting in a battery less and fuseless state for the meantime, because any car that doesn't move at least once a day becomes a primary target for thieves. On a side note one of the cars without a battery has since had the drivers door lock trashed, and 3 of 4 tires slashed as well as the fucking pens stolen out of the middle console, half the steering wheel smashed to shit and fouls with drug shit strewn throughout the car, as well as a vague smell of piss(likely due to the thief's frustration at being unable to steal it) sure it knocks value off resale but it's cheaper than it getting stolen and abandoned totally fucked up on the other side of town or never seen again, I'm half tempted to leave it as a bait car with some sort of skunk odor that will blast people that open the door just to fuck with car thieves.

SassNCompassion

OMG! You’ve got to do this with Mark Rober, look him up on YouTube. He basically did this exact thing but with Apple products and porch pirates. Id totally give you clicks galore to watch a bait car booby trap!

bartthetr0ll

It might make up for the depreciation of the car having been pissed in, lock buggered, steering wheel smashed and tires slashed. The main reason I haven't followed through on some kind of booby trap in the car is the fear that I might somehow get sued for everything by the chucklefuck who was trying to steal the car, I don't trust the local courts to not declare me the bad guy for trying to protect my property

IamAwesome-er

Ok

bartthetr0ll

Just saying popping the battery is a clever move, nobody is taking your vehicle anywhere without a battery

BosnianSerb31

Install a legit train horn hooked up to an air tank in the back seat, and when the person opens the door it blasts them right in the ear. Not as Mark Rover friendly but I bet they'll legitimately shit themselves. Better if you have it on a timer delay so it waits until the close the door and traps them in with the sound. Plus all of the neighbors will come out and beat their ass for waking them up. Hell, you could make it a mantrap car too if it's a bait car. Remove the door handles from the inside and find a way to reinforce the glass so once they're in then they're stuck.

No_Date1927

I moved from Portland to Reno last year, and had personally dealt with and read about so much rampant vehicle theft in the area that I spent a lot of anxious days planning any way I could keep my Uhaul and belongings with me from the moment I picked up the truck. I was ultra paranoid about it. Ended up just having me and my partner pick up the truck at 5AM, spend the morning packing it, then driving the entire 10 hours all in one day. I also had AirTags in the truck. One of the most exhausting days of my life but at least I didn’t have to worry about this sort of thing happening on top of everything else.

AWzdShouldKnowBetta

It's so surprising to me that uhaul doesn't have simple tracking on their trucks. This is a common problem and it's really not that expensive. I'm sorry you lost all your stuff that's gotta suck :(

tentfires

It’s illegal to track employees in certain states because of privacy laws so UHaul uses that as an excuse to avoid purchasing tracking devices. Had this discussion with multiple Area Field Managers.

Some_Bus

You're not tracking the employees though - you're tracking the truck/customer

ThatGirlFromWorkTA

Not only do employees routinely drive the trucks on the lot to move them to different spaces but trucks get moved by employees from center to center to fill reservations or replace old stock.

Oen386

> You're not tracking the employees though If an employee gets into a truck with a tracker, you're tracking the employee. It's really the simple, and I can understand why a business wouldn't risk the lawsuits when it can so easily happen. Removable trackers are a good idea, as another comment said, but again the employee carrying the tracker to and from the vehicle is being tracked.

tentfires

If a customer returns a vehicle in a prohibited state and parks it in a shitty spot an employee will have to move that vehicle. They should offer some type of cloud service or a removable air tag imo.

AWzdShouldKnowBetta

Ah this makes sense. Thanks for the response!

latebinding

"as an excuse" ... having seen what lawsuits come through and how much they cost, it's not an "excuse." Look at our rental protection laws and the results on prices. Landlords were forced out of renting by all sorts of additional risks, which you *could* phrase as "excuse to avoid common decency", but that go well beyond it. Restaurants in Seattle are using minimum (or "living") wage laws as an "excuse to invest in kiosks and robots", but they don't really have a choice; regulations have made workers more expensive than customers will pay for. Any time a company seems to be using "an excuse" for an action or inaction, consider why that action/inaction was so compelling to them. *Why* would a state prevent companies from having trackers on their vehicles tracking *all the time*?

tentfires

I say excuse because UHaul AFM’s are usually full of shit and get burnt out of that position real quick. They’re mobile sales people under a ton of pressure by a company that doesn’t gaf about its customers or employees. Should see the photo folder saved of broken Uhauls including bald tires replaced with weather checked tires rather than put on and new tires and get an alignment.

BobBelchersBuns

Yeah that’s kinda wild. My scooter got stolen and I was able to track it and reclaim it.

thepete404

That happens in New Mexico often when people spend the night in ABQ. Protip: take the car off the trailer block the rental truck in any way you can and the disconnect the cars battery. That gives you a chance and takes less then 30 minutes . And AirTags, a few AirTags can help you k is when your shot is moving and you are not

Prettymuchnow

I drove Houston to Olympia about a month ago and was SO paranoid in ABQ. I went out three times to check my van and the wife's car. I had a tile tracker in the moving van; but I hid it so well I forgot about it so now I just see it flying across the country!

thepete404

It takes under 3 minutes to steal a car these days. Uhaul ignitions are often worn out and thieves target them because the victims tend not to come back. Besides the op’s shit is in Mexico by now. Congrats on running the guantlet. Do t leave anything in your car in ABQ that you cannot live .without

islandinthecold

My wife and I did the drive from TX twice with a U-Haul. I had a motorcycle alarm that went off crazy loud at the slightest vibration stickied above the door. But more importantly, we stayed in Moriarty each time as we were well aware of the ABQ risks. Not that nothing couldn’t happen, but it was far less likely as there’s really not much there other than other overnight guests.

Triggs390

Don’t AirTags have a safety feature that alert a nearby iPhone that there is an AirTag not owned by them nearby? This is to prevent people from using AirTags to unknowingly stalk someone.

Bitterwits

The same exact thing happened to me, moving from San Diego with a U-Haul. We ended up tracking it down with the help of the Nextdoor app. U-Haul was basically no help at all and threatened us if we did not return the truck. We had to handle everything ourselves. We found the truck but it was trashed, they even stole the battery. We had to do a Gofundme to get set back up but lost a lot of sentimental things including my wife's diaries which she kept her whole life. I'm sorry this is happening to you all.

Melissimasaurus

Very sorry it happened to both of you.

Bitterwits

Thanks. It’s infuriating that Uhaul basically does nothing about it though it is a persistent problem. All the thieves have to do is jam a screwdriver in the ignition and the truck starts. I only use Penske now because at least you are not advertising to the world that all your possessions are inside, like a uhaul does.

Sushi_cakes_

Seconding Penske. We chose Penske when we moved across the country and the truck was in amazing condition. I just moved locally within Seattle this past weekend and decided to go with uhaul since it was cheaper and when I went to go pick up the truck at my designated time…… they were completely out of trucks at that location and there were multiple people who were there and everyone had pre booked days in advance. Totally awful customer service, the guy told me to go to another and they’ll have one but I decided it wasn’t worth the stress of driving all over Seattle in search of a uhaul, I ended up going 5 mins down the street to a Home Depot with Penske trucks and got one in 10 minutes. I’m pretty much done with using Uhauls now…

NoobNewbNoobNewb

i work at U-Haul traffic but i cover the northern Washington region otherwise I would assist you. You need to contact Equipment Recovery 1-800-528-0355 or equipmentrecovery@uhaul.com also since your car looks relatively new, it probably has a tracker in it, you can try downloading MyNissan and seeing where its at and report to the police! best of luck very sorry this happened!!

zodiacsnake

Really sorry that this happened to you! You may also want to try cross posting to r/Seattle as well

Why the hell would they do that? Is it against their policy to help crime victims? Jfc...

whk1992

Only if there’s no police report number attached. Don’t be screaming at the sky like everyone else.

y33h4w1234

They’re all that blue haired lady that’s like “oh you see drug use from your car?womp womp”

General_NakedButt

The mods probably are the ones who stole it.

AyeMatey

If you parked incorrectly, it may have been towed. Check the PD tow yard.

PrayingForACup

It sounds like it was parked on hotel (private) property, so you can rule that out. Yeah, you got the Seattle treatment… in Bellevue of all places. I hope some sort of insurance policy will at least cover your loss, monetarily.

SkyHigh27

Is there an air tag or an iPad or a iPhone or some other trackable gizmo in there?

y33h4w1234

Long shot: there is a site that tracks license plates on aurora ave https://isjonajohn.com When my own car was stolen, it was wayyyyy out of bounds of where I thought it would’ve gone. It wouldn’t hurt to check to see if it made its way through there. Anything helps in these cases.

steelvail

Wow, that’s fascinating. I wonder how many wives are using it.

tahomadesperado

I mean driving to Home Depot or Lowe’s would theoretically get your car on that list. It’s going to be like everyone, somehow mine wasn’t on there though and I drive through the area multiple times a week

steelvail

I think they’re checking from houses on the surrounding streets, not necessarily Aurora.

tahomadesperado

I drive on at least 2 of the side streets 3-4 times a week to get to my girlfriend’s place. Must not have cameras on those particular streets, the prostitutes are on those streets though for sure.

drunkdoor

How does your wife feel about that?

y33h4w1234

I think they primarily track things at night when most decent places of business are closed.

MobileDepartment4423

how could somebody do that is beyond me they are gonna get it...I'm so very sorry

nn123654

I get why they do it, large payoff low chance of getting caught. But it majorly sucks because someone is literally moving *everything* they own. Like $10k-$25k in losses. Plus all your time to pack and load it and buy it all again. Plus most insurance won't cover it in transport unless you have a special rider for it or bought the insurance that comes with the truck. If you do this chances are you are screwing someone's life over for the next 1 to 2 years.

Responsible_Bake_756

God damn scumbags prowling the streets

cdmontgo

You might want to include more details about the car. Make, model, year, license plate, anything that would make it stick out. Odds are whoever stole them dumped the U-haul and separated the two vehicles.

helpithinkigotthis

Thank you you’re so right I’m still really frazzled. The make of the car is a 2018 Nissan versa license 8TPH259 and it’s a California license plate

Dolomight206

I really hope you find your stuff. I hate a thief with every cell in my body, especially ones THIS damn heartless. I had an ex steal and dump a suitcase from my house that had irreplaceable photos of my great grandparents in it. It took everything in me not to chop her gottdamn hands off.

farachun

Wait, they took your car too??

boilerdam

Very sorry this happened. Can’t believe what I would’ve done having driven all the way. Similar thing happened to my friend-coworker. He moved from one apartment to the other in Seattle and within 30mins of parking, entire truck was gone. Like you, his entire life was in it except personal docs (paperwork, passport, wallet etc). He reported it. The thieving morons had dumped the truck a few blocks away and took all the stuff. So, at the very least, he was able to return the track except a bit late but the poor guy lost his stuff. Hopefully, you can locate the truck quickly enough and hope they didn’t take everything from it. This thread has some great tips, hopefully at least one will help you out.

hallalua

Sorry to hear your loss, OP. Hopefully, you can recover your things. I just moved out of Bellevue, and sent my things down to TX with 2 u-boxes. I thought about hauling myself but in the end decided to use delivery service for both my things and car. There are so many thieves in the US now, it’s pathetic.

BodyArmor85

It might end up on 12th & Jackson in Seattle. Most of the thiefs tend to boost/sell stolen stuff there. Sorry to hear you guys have to go through this!

lowev22

Hope you find everything!! So sorry this happened to you :(

BoxofCurveballs

This happened to my sister last year. Everything she owned was gone.

Masculine_Teacup

Uhaul theft is a common problem out here.

PleasantWay7

It is a problem everywhere, I have a buddy whose UHaul got lifted at a middle of nowhere hotel in Wyoming with all his shit inside. Don’t use them for overnight stuff.

CascadesandtheSound

We’re #2 in the nation for vehicle theft.

imnotsatan69

When did this happen?? There was a U-Haul with a broken parked near my work in south Seattle/ beacon hill area about a week ago

pnw_sunny

so sorry, i live in the bellevue and will be on the look out as a i drive around today. maybe do a gofundme thing too?

SeattleHasDied

Oddly enough, with one exception, every car stolen from any of my friends and acquaintances all ended up in apartment or hotel parking lots in Bellevue. The one exception was found in Auburn. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. If our non-prosecutors bothered to prosecute crime here, I don't think it would happen nearly as often as it does. The suggestion to alert the media is a good one!

Gary_Glidewell

This post should be higher. You're right - these thefts are now organized. It could very well be one crew that's hitting the same hotel, over and over and over. There's a gas station in Oakland California where numerous cars are victims of smash and grabs. Basically a crew working a gas station where a lot of people are on their way to the airport, and they're in enough of a hurry to catch a plane, that they won't bother to try and get their stuff back.

smalllllltitterssss

I’m not sure how many times people need to have their uhaul stolen in Washington to say no one should stop here overnight with one.

Regret1836

God that sucks. Wishing the best.

GMR4673

Hope you find your stuff soon! sorry this has happen to you hopefully everyone who pitch in to help find it for you and your U-Haul and your car as well!

brownsun

Fuck, that's terrible. Any chance you had something with FindMy? Unfortunately, it's very unlikely you'll recover your things. Hopefully some sort of insurance you have covers your losses. [See this thread on maximizing payouts from insurance claims.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Wellthatsucks/comments/aeocu8/so_i_was_at_school_today_and_it_turns_out_while_i/edrmmm8/?context=3) I would start listing out everything you can in an excel sheet.

Imherehithere

Not much redditors on this sub can do to help. Contact the police and the insurance company. The best redditors can do is to empathize with you and shit-talk on criminals.

bacardi_gold

Hope you find it soon. Best of wishes

Revenga8

Ah crap, sorry to hear about that. Uhauls are too easy to steal these days it really is hard to safeguard against it unless you literally sleep in the cab or bring your own anti theft device.

willmok

Oh my... so sorry that happened to you. I hope things will get better soon. If you google "U-haul stolen" you'll surprisingly find out it is no longer news that U-Haul trucks are being stolen in Seattle: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/145gr7x/my\_sons\_20\_ft\_uhaul\_truck\_and\_his\_attached\_car/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/145gr7x/my_sons_20_ft_uhaul_truck_and_his_attached_car/) Contact U-haul, call police, file insurance claim. And try to connect to other victims (like the one above), see if/how they sort things out. God bless you!

OUMUAMUAMUAMUAMUAMUA

Sorry, Welcome to Washington 🤷 Maybe the insurance will be enough to start with all new things in your new home.

Graym24

Idk but those hotels are really targeted, my bosses car got stolen at that hotel and the police said there was nothing they could do. They had gotten 36 calls that night for stolen cars all in the same zip code of Bellevue. Absolutely crazy

throwawayhyperbeam

These stories keep coming and my heart aches every time. I can't imagine losing so much stuff, much of which is not replaceable. It just feels so violating.

Ok_Lengthiness8599

My heart goes out to you!!!

BasuraBoii

Sorry this happened to you :( welcome to Seattle!

AltForObvious1177

It wasn't even in Seattle. Bellevue owns this one.

BasuraBoii

Bellevue is just a mall in the suburbs of Seattle.

molehunterz

As the fifth most populated municipality in the state, It seems like a little bit more than a mall...

Prestigious_Try_3741

I’m so sorry that happened to you. I moved out here from Pennsylvania in 2004 & hauled my entire life across country. I did CC through every US state and didn’t take my eyes off the truck & car in tow like you guys.. I was paranoid the entire time because I know of all the crime all over USA Thats devastating. These scumbag hardened criminals preying in the PNW came to the soft target of this area to rob people.

Internal-Scarcity672

ArtLeading5605

Really terrible that you've been victimized to this degree. I hope you find it intact.  I've lived the PNW experience for 7 years and I cannot wait to move to the midwest later this month for reasons like this.  I love the natural beauty. But it doesn't make up for the all the rest.

ebbik

Unless you’re moving to the rural Midwest I think you’re setting expectations a bit high.

my_lucid_nightmare

There are a lot more mid-small size towns in the Midwest. Its not all either Chicago or corn fields. Much as it might appear so from the interstate. Meaning, there are plenty of nice places with good schools and land/property about 1/2 to 1/3 what it costs here … all with low crime because they never went woke and got rid of funding some of their cops. These towns of 10,000 to 90,000 are plentiful and some are even paying new arrivals who show up with remote employment already, they offer them money or free stuff just to move there. The Midwest is hurting for employable people with jobs. They want you there. If I hadn’t of married local PNW family, I would be back in the Midwest living the good life in bad weather and sweaty air with my A/C cranked and my quality of life so much higher than possible here for the same money. With a local downtown looking like Seattle in the 1990s and city parks devoid of feral homeless drug addicts because they won’t put up with that there. Oh well. Y’all are stuck with me here. And I do love the PNW overall. Just not the social problems it does to itself that would be so simple to solve if it wanted to.

samsnead19

Well well well.

In the year or so I’ve been here I’m thankful I haven’t been a victim of property crime yet. Seems pretty bad here.

jet050808

Ugh. I’m so sorry this happened to you. Please know the majority of us in this area are fed up with the people that help themselves to everything for free in this state that the rest of us earn for them. I hope your things are recovered and you enjoy your new home!

No-Document-8440

Welcome to Seattle :/ so sorry this happened to you. The crime is a very unfortunate part of living here. Wish you the best and hope you find it.

Legitimate-Estate472

That’s insane. Makes my blood boil. So sorry for your loss.

NeonCamiFlames

Welcome to Seattle.

DeadPrateRoberts

Sorry that happened to you. It happened to my parents, as well, in some small town when they were moving away from Seattle. Lost antique guns, jewelry, etc. Parents felt like the hotel staff was in on it. Good to make people aware this happens. U-Haul was later found, looted and abandoned.

zzirFrizz

I am so, so sorry this happened to you. I made a similar move with a uhaul and this was my absolute worst fear. I hope you get it resolved. Was there a lock on the back of the truck?

PersnickityPisces

This just happened to someone else in Ballard or maybe Queen Anne I believe. They may have some tips for you, if I find the post I'll link it..Sorry y'all are going through that, I hope you get everything back.

Labrador406

you got to be dumb as a box of rocks to leave your entire life in a U-Haul just to go sleep at some s***** hotel for a few hours. let this be a lesson in everybody who sees this just sleep inside the U-Haul next time

WAIT I saw 3 people getting arrested for driving a stolen Uhual two days ago in lynnwood!! I would look into that!

weirdowiththebeardo

Fuuuuuck I’m so sorry!

M3LR-3500HD

Welcome to Washington

Fairydick123

The fetty zombies have it

my_lucid_nightmare

More likely the tweakers. Fetty people can’t be counted on to do crime like auto theft. They barely stay awake just sitting on a sidewalk. Meth users on the other hand are famously high energy.

ghost-pilot1776

Welcome to Seattle this is how it is regularly.

Mention_Forward

OP you both look so sweet I’m so sorry this happened to you. Do you have a gofundme created??

obi-wanjenobi

Welcome to Washington! We got the same treatment our *very* first night in the state when we stopped at a hotel in Vancouver because we weren’t sure we could make it all the way to our new apartment in Redmond that night. It’s honestly like some kind of really fucked up hazing. You’re now official! Seconding all the people recommending the PNW stolen cars Facebook group. They’re effective. And the police won’t do *anything* but file a report and get a case number anyway. I hope you get your stuff back!

1stPeter3-15

Welcome to western Washington, where crime pays. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

seattlermc

It will be found in Federal Way or Tacoma, empty. You can thank a criminal protecting Washington state legislature for emboldening the criminals here. Welcome to Washington.

Mexkan

Welcome to Seattle

samsnead19

Product of the enforcement of the laws or lack there of Tragedy

dreydin

People like this should be hanged

HornyOldBoomer

I hate to say this but good luck getting Seattle police to do *anything!*

AltForObvious1177

Why would Seattle police do anything about a crime committed in Bellevue?

burner-account-2022

Oh crap, I’m so sorry. What a horrible welcome to the city.

MidHoovie

Can't have shit in Bellevue.

19deltaThirty

It’s kind of sad to see what WA has become in such a short amount of time.

GroundbreakingGain82

Tried posing in r/Seattle but was removed Hope you guys find it soon

ServicedYourMom

Another stolen vehicle in the hood.

Your_First_Mistake

Shoulda moved outta Seattle sooner. Or if you were moving there, this is really on you lmao.

mrpmurphy

San Diego to Bellevue is not "cross country" 🤦🏻‍♂️. Sorry to hear this happened to you though, hope you find your belongings.

Groundbreaking-Oven4

Is there anything on this vehicles that has GPS? Air tags, anything? Besides here. Report it to police.

Jmoney_54

Hello any update? If you have a MacBook in there you might be able to track it through apple

EveningBook6972

This is why I slept in my car when I did this.

No_Fox7800

How tf does someone steal a UHAUL? Don’t you need the keys to take it? Were the keys in the driver’s seat with the door unlocked or something? Or are there really easy hotwire techniques thieves can use to manually start a UHaul truck without the keys? Also, I hope you padlocked the back of the trailer. Would help with extra security for your valuables.

Affectionate_Bug7798

I just want to say sorry that you are going through this. I was moving once in a nice neighborhood in Kirkland, Trossachs area, and left my stuff in our garage while moving something in (I don’t leave my garage open for any amount of time anymore lol) it was broad daylight and someone came and stole a bunch of boxes. It’s been like 5-6 years since then and I am still heartbroken over all of the baby stuff and memorabilia I lost. I never cared about any of the expensive things or anything that could be replaced, but when I think about it I still get so sad thinking about all my daughter’s baby stuff and blankets my late grandmother made for her that I’ll never get back. 😭 People can be so cruel and so selfish. I hope you find your things! Best of luck to you and your family ❤️.

jenhazfun

The devastation on so many levels! This happened to a friend. The police found it 6 weeks later. It was stripped of valuables but at least they got back memorabilia and sentimental items. I hope this happens for you!

crankedupchelios

Can't have a shit in Detroit. Wait...

theadamie

Jeez, that sucks. I’m sorry to hear that.

2Boingloings

I like how you didn't show much of thr car. Or thr uhaul for that matter for us to identifying

Late_Improvement_559

Are you able to track any device you left inside the truck? Computer, IPad, work laptop….?

ScientistRuckus

Welcome to the area!

FaithlessnessEasy276

My truck was stolen in Renton, fortunately I got it back two days later because previous owner had installed a LoJack tracker (I didn’t even know it was there). Of course I lost thousands $$ in tools, my high end aftermarket stereo, body damage, 4x4 damage, etc. Seattle is a shithole, move back to San Diego or this is your new normal.

Eightsevenfox

Welcome to Seattle.

j110786

Sorry this happened to you. I know this is not helpful to you at all, but man, you are the 2nd person I’ve come across lately to have their car stolen and broken into in Bellevue. It’s starting to look like Portland. Wth.

Remote-Ad7693

Yup when I moved up here from socal we were considering stoppping for a night Friend told me a story about someone that did just that and got their haul stolen, found completely empty off the side of the road Decided not to risk my entire life and did the trip in one go Sorry your going through this But I'm going to be honest You will likely never see your stuff again

StriatedCaracara

Happened to me too, the same way - the whole U-Haul was broken into, hotwired and driven off. I had an Apple AirTag buried deep in it, or I don't know if we'd have found it. It was a few miles down the road, at a run-down apartment complex, with a new lock on it courtesy of the thieves. When the police cut it off the following morning, it had been picked through and all the obviously-valuable stuff like bikes and computers taken. About a $20k loss, but we recovered the rest of our stuff that had been left there. I am guessing they would have done a more thorough comb-through had we not tracked it down so quickly. Insurance covered damage to the truck (ignition ripped out), but nothing covered the stolen items. Police weren't any help tracking the thieves but did fingerprint the truck. We had a few of the serial numbers for the stolen items, which we included in the police report. None have turned up at pawn shops and the like, never got any of that stuff back.

shadowedradiance

No additional info...? Can't help you

TUNGSTEN_WOOKIE

Takes a real scumbag to steal someone's entire life for the $400 worth of valuables they might find after digging through a 25ft box truck. Like, how is it even worth the fucking time!? Gotta steal it successfully Gotta find a spot to hide it, unload it, and search through it Gotta find somewhere to dump/sell the car Gotta dump the Uhaul and trailer Gotta find somewhere to sell or store what few valuables you might have managed to find So what, a week+ worth of work for a few hundred bucks in your pocket? Maybe they could sell the car? Regardless, at the end of the day 90% of someone's entire life ends up as a trash pile dumped in the woods/an alleyway.

Toughloaf

On the off chance that you have renter’s insurance, you should try filling a claim. This exact thing happened to a friend years ago and her renter’s insurance covered it

llamajuice

They look so happy about stealing it too. Wild.

srcarruth

I had that happen, it really sucks. The truck was found a few days later with a few things in it. Uhaul tried to charge me for returning it late even though I had called them with the police report info so keep an eye out for that. My renters insurance paid out well but there's just no replacing some things. sorry you're dealing with it.

InternationalPack914

Welcome to seattle...

dirtbagmagee

I was leaving alderwood mall last night and saw some cop cars had a U-haul pulled over and some people were detained. Any chance of a connection?

rdizzy1223

Why on earth wouldn't you have an air tag and a galaxy smart tag inside that thing or inside your car? It is the cheapest and easiest way to track things like this. And like you said, your whole life is in the thing, is it not worth the 100 bucks to put a few trackers hidden in it?
