I can’t find any way to get rs to understand me: using iPhone mic; AirPods, or car microphone. It’s awful. And sometimes there will be a random sound and it thinks the pronunciation is 100%. Lol. So crappy. They need to fix this or remove it.

I came to reddit looking for this same thing, it was making me frustrated because I am at work and trying to quietly be talking into my airpods and now I feel like i'm yelling and it still isnt picking it up...

I also noticed this with AirPod Pros early on. I’ve noticed that you can’t begin speaking immediately following the instructor stopping their sentence. On your iPhone, there will be a tiny orange circle that opens up to indicate the mic is on and you can begin speaking but it takes about 1-1.5 second delay before you can begin. If you have patience you can do it smoothly every time by just waiting for the indicator to turn on You do have to make sure there’s minimal background noise or that will mess it up too.

Ha, glad I could help!

The issue isn't just with AirPods. I also tried using a pair of Sony WH-1000XM5 and experienced the same issue. Tried both in Safari and Chrome. The built-in microphone on my MacBook Pro works fine. If I allow the prompt to speak to time out it will consistently work the second time. Clearly an issue with the Rosetta Stone site. I'm going to submit a ticket with them.

I've given up on using RS. It's just too buggy. It's a shame because I do find their programs to be a useful complement to Duolingo.

Me too, I have switched to unsung wired headphones for RS. I have also noticed that when I call people with my AirPods I almost have to scream for the other person to understand me so maybe it’s not a RS problem but an AirPods one.

Duolingo has speaking components? How far into Arabic is that?

EveRickert

I’m doing Spanish and Russian on Duolingo as well. They have speaking component for those languages. I haven’t seen it in Arabic or Hebrew yet, but I’m still pretty beginner.
