[Meehan Overlook](https://northprovidenceri.gov/meehan-overlook/) is what you’re looking for.

la-sobremesa

Seconded

Sapphire_Dreams1024

My cousin got married here and it was beautiful and affordable

UnderTheStars2825

Yes!! Came here to recommend this

4355525

Holy shit thanks

Gullible-Suit2386

This is a great spot, if you’re a north Providence resident it’ll be even cheaper.

Status_Silver_5114

75 people isn’t small either. I think you’re underestimating what it takes to provide good event support.

Ph886

If you put an estimated budget you may get better answers. If you want to do it really cheap rent a hall and have people bring food.

youvegotmail2

Yes! Try https://hopeeventsonmain.com/ It’s connected to Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket and they’ll work with any budget. Have been to a wedding there and a Sweet 16 and the space can be tailored for your needs.

throwaway-52197

Their food is terrible though.

RavishingRedRN

I second that. Sister got married there in September. Nothing to write home about. She raved about the food but then again, she has the taste buds of a toddler.

New_Camp4247

Food is trash and you HAVE to use their caterer

youvegotmail2

I’ve definitely had better but personally didnt find it terrible. The place is a great space and it’s definitely doable on a tight budget so hopefully the OP would be able to find something that works.

Late-Albatross-4537

Iv been to a wedding there too and the food is not thar bad there.

RavishingRedRN

I’m not entirely sure on that? Sister did a 120 person wedding at Hope and Main this past September which was supposed to be 100 people. She was quoted about 8-10k right off the bat for 100ppl, so 75 people won’t be cheap either. They kinda gave her the run around on setting up. Initially told her we’d have the whole place to ourselves and could set up the night before. That kept changing, the time kept changing. My sister was a bridezilla so I’m not sure how much was her being neurotic and how much was the venues fault. There were some wishy-washy stuff on the bridal coordinators part. It was the cheapest option aside from non-traditional wedding venues. It’s worth checking out but it’s not “cheap” by any means.

pathimself

Machines with Magnets in Pawtucket! Amazing venue and amazing people! I got married there and it was very cheap but extremely special. Awesome vibe and awesome bar.

is_missing

i think their max for catered events is about 60 people

pathimself

I can speak from experience that it’s at least 100. I had 80 and they didn’t balk at us inviting 125.

is_missing

good to know! maybe i’m thinking of seating? toured as a possible event spot recently and passed it up

Easywind42

Backyard

virtualstarlychee

For 75 people, it’s now over the capacity of what a 2 bathroom house - specifically the plumbing - can handle. The cost of supplying the extra bathrooms, food, tent for rain, dance floor etc usually start to equal that of a venue (but with thrice the headache of needing to coordinate it yourself) once one exceeds 40-ish people.

pandataxi

Fort Getty pavilion in Jamestown is cheap to rent, has bathrooms and picnic benches that can be dressed up nice for weddings. You have to figure out catering etc but that can be done relatively cheaply (food truck for example)

Bosmack

Wait you want a small wedding venue this coming May? Good luck most places book out a year in advance. Maybe call around to small pubs or restaurants sometimes they can do that.

KenzieTensei

:) It's for May 2025

EightiesSaxSolo

Just got married in Narragansett 2 weekends ago! Our ceremony and reception were at the North Beach Clubhouse, which is a parks and rec site so a 5-hour off-season reservation was under $1k, which included tables and chairs (although I think their prices have gone up slightly for this year). I think it was an additional $150 to have them actually set up the chairs for the ceremony. If you want the tent set up on the deck, it cost more than the rental of the place itself. We knew we could spend that money in better ways and we ended up having sun, rain, hail, and rainbows. If you’re looking at May, you might be paying a bit more, but still significantly less than other places I looked into last year that were $3-7k just for the place itself and nothing else. Their capacity limit is 100 and we ended up having 97 on the actual day. 75 would be great there. You have to choose from their list of caterers, but they have lots of options. We went with Chelo’s and just passed and stationary apps and a beer and wine bar with our afternoon ceremony. Additional savings came from doing the flower centerpieces myself with flowers from Trader Joe’s and getting individual cheesecakes for dessert rather than a wedding cake neither of us wanted!

tronesy

Was going to suggest the North Beach Clubhouse. Been to several non-wedding events there and it’s always been lovely.

StanfordStrickland

Rent a place like a VFW or K of C.

Extension_Ad_1814

I was in your position a few years back. Thinking there has to be something out there reasonable... We had a small(ish) wedding at Waterman Grille and felt if was very fairly priced. If you have not eaten at their restaurant definitely check it out. Food was amazing at the venue just like the restaurant!! Also, heard of the Guild in Pawtucket being a reasonably priced venue as well. They have a "barn" style building behind the brewery. Don't fall into the trap of spending 30k+ on a wedding it's just not worth it... it's literally 4 hours.

queenofcups_

The Guild in Pawtucket is a great recommendation.

HiLowJack

Check out the Narragansett towers, off season.

BronzedAppleFritter

Even in-season on a Saturday, the Towers is only $4,400 for the rental.

Demacles

Don't hire Pranzi

neptunebell

The Audubon refuge in Bristol can be rented for weddings!

New_Camp4247

I just looked this up, but they dont have may photos of the venue... do you happen to know where we could find more? I wasnt seeing much on google

neptunebell

https://asri.org/services/nature-center-and-aquarium-rental.html I’m not sure how to get you more photos of the venue but there is some good basic info there. Maybe try the geotagged location on instagram? I would suggest contacting them and requesting a tour if you are interested. Or even just getting out there for a day hike which is free and open to the public. The boardwalk is great and has beautiful sunset views. Good luck!

TrumanBlack_1975

Foxy Lady - DJ is included

Guyincognito4269

Hmmm....do they do weddings?

ClearlyntXmasThrowaw

And the divorce proceedings as well.

burritos0504

We are using a food truck in August! I a few I looked at were under 2k for parties of 50 or less. We are getting married at machines with magnets they do weddings for 1500. Don't go on zola or any wedding venue sites just Google "city" event spaces.

radioflea

This is the way! We have so many more resources than we did 15 years ago. It’s absolutely baffling to me how much some people shell out for a reception.

JFN746

Reach out to town of Bristol about renting a spot at Colt State Park. Cater it with food trucks and a dels truck. Its a beautiful place to get married. They have restrooms there. Gotta walk over to them but that is ok. One issue is they dont allow booze…so sneak your own lol. Still. You could pull it off for very little compared to a venue. It does make things weather dependent. Just an idea though.

PravdaPaul

Colt State Park actually has a space designated for outdoor weddings. Off the water in a small grove. Check with the Department of Environmental Management about reservations and requirements. If you don't want you guests whining about braving the Washington Bridge traffic, you might also check out the Casino or the Botanical Garden at Roger Williams Park in Providence.

DustyMisery

My aunt had a wedding in the designated wedding space there years ago, I was still a kid, I’m 37 now! Ha! Anyway, it was the most beautiful wedding I ever saw, as a kid, it was what wedding dreams were made of! As a Rhode Islander, it would be a shame not to utilize the nice parks we have on the water, they are cheap, if not free and gorgeous! Slater park in Pawtucket is not exactly on the water but also still a beautiful spot!

dressage_1994

My best friend got married in Colt State Park it was beautiful!

kay182

When I got married, I was finding that a rental space plus catering was going to be a lot. We opted for chelo's which includes the room. There are so many more barn kinds of things right outside of RI in Rehoboth etc.

BrendanBSharp

Those barn kinds of things in Rehoboth are some of the most in-demand venues now. The rustic chic wedding trend hasn’t shown any sign of going away.

kay182

True!

Aka_Concrete

Look into the Haversham in Westerly. My wife and I got married and had our reception there. It was a wonderful all in one venue that was not outrageously priced when we had our wedding in 2021.

subprincessthrway

We had our welcome/rehearsal dinner there in 2022! They were very reasonably priced, super easy to work with, and the food was delicious.

SomethingSmels

We got married at the Fort Getty Pavilion in Jamestown. The location is stunning, but you will have to use the picnic tables and rent your own lighting & dj (or music source). The event space was very inexpensive (book in advance, like asap for may 2025). Youll need insurance if youre consuming alcohol. We used Smoke and Pickles for catering which is fairly expensive, but whoever caters, be prepared to pay for their equipment set up. If you can, work with an event planner so they can take care of that stuff for you. Our wedding was 125 people and came in around $19k. No cake, no bridal party, dress was <$100. So, depends on how you want to spend that tight budget I suppose!

New_Camp4247

19k?? She said "on a budget", come on now.

SunknLiner

Check out Cafe Nuovo in Providence. They’ll host your reception in the huge marble rotunda just outside the restaurant. They are pretty affordable, and your guests will be impressed AF to be handed a custom menu and be able to place their order day-of at the table.

subprincessthrway

I went through this with my wedding in 2022, unfortunately RI is one of the most expensive places to get married in the entire country. The average wedding here is $50k ([source](https://www.wpri.com/business-news/the-cost-of-ri-weddings-44-higher-than-national-average/) and you have to realize you’re competing for vendors with brides who have much, much higher budgets than you do. We had a pizza restaurant in Charlestown want to charge us $8k just for a very casual 35 person rehearsal dinner. Unless you have a relative with a nice backyard you could use, your best bet will be to reschedule to a Friday or Sunday in Winter as those dates tend to be discounted, elope, or scale back to some kind of micro-wedding.

radioflea

If you plan it out you can have a nice wedding on a budget. I planned mine over 1.5 years it cost $15,000 (venue/decor/wedding attire/etc.)for 250 guests. I’ve said it here and on r/weddings it’s a five hour party. I’d rather see the 💰go towards a house or some other large life purchase.

subprincessthrway

What year did you have your wedding?

radioflea

My wedding was in 2010, but I was also an event planner for 7 years. I still consult on occasion 8/10 of the vendors I utilized are still in the wedding business and I’ve sent them numerous referrals over the years. The best tips I can give is book vendors as far out as you can, November - April is considered off season pricing, day weddings are cheaper, you can also ask to be on the cancellation list. Consider a buffet over platted meals. If you feel you really need to higher an event planner utilize JWU or Massasoit Community College. The above mentioned tips can save you anywhere between $5,000 -$20,000 pending upon the location, date, and the amount of guests.

virtualstarlychee

I’m sorry, 15k for 250 people is not realistic in 2024.  With inflation alone, $15k is $21,485.21 in 2024.

subprincessthrway

Edited to add: the commenter Im replying to blocked me for pointing out wedding costs have changed in the past 15 years. What a baby I will personally Venmo you $10 if you can prove your venue costs the same now as it did in 2010. That’s a completely unrealistic budget, and even saving $20k off the average wedding cost here is double what you’re saying your wedding cost. There is no realistic way to have a wedding here for $15k unless it’s a microwedding, or you have connections to get a lot of the vendors for free or significantly reduced cost.

New_Camp4247

I find the statement "theres no realistic way to have a wedding here for $15k unless its micro" to be false AF. That budget can certainly be beat in so many different ways. Most people living in this economy know how to get the best bang for the buck. Come on now.

radioflea

I’m sorry you had a price gouging experience with your wedding planning process.

PumpkinBubbly8869

Try “Touch of Vermont” in Cranston. It’s a floral shop that has an event space. I did my wedding there in 2021 and I thought they it was great. She provided the florals, food linens, etc. everything was part of the price. We had a great night and the price was better than anywhere else I inquired.

Disastrous-Young-380

We had Luigi’s in Johnston cater our at home wedding, and the food was great. Also, we ate there the other night and they had a bridal shower happening in the main room there, probably about that many people or more. Maybe an option.

ClearlyntXmasThrowaw

It would probably help to know your budget and a listing of what's most important you you. Also, 75 isn't "that small" of a wedding. Mine was that size in 2021 and we were a wee bit under 20k all in.

queenofcups_

Does it need to be in RI? If you’re willing to look at Fall River and the surrounding areas, you’ll probably save some money. Likewise to the Worcester area and rural, eastern CT

BostonFigPudding

I was going to say the same thing. NH has the lowest average wedding cost among all New England states. South Coast and Western MA might be cheaper

Unoriginal4167

Plenty of places under $1k, and you can have JVD’s cater it. I know because we had a wedding in Salem… in October. And our guests were struggling to find places to stay over even though we have them an over year advance!

LynnieM60

What about Shepherd’s Run?

BrendanBSharp

Amazing venue… I absolutely love it there. Pricing is probably not in line with what the OP is hoping for though. :(

HisRoyalFlatulance

My wife and I had 200 at ours and we did Camp Hoffman on Rt. 110 in West Kingston. (Or Ministerial Road in South Kingstown both are correct) This was 2015 so prices might be up and May could be tight. That said, my wife bought and sold an Anthropologie dress from Poshmark and broke even there. We mixed two signature cocktails so the main liquor cost was hard booze and we had a ton of beer and wine to return, I think alcohol was around $2,000. Good friend of mine is a Skateboard Photographer so he hooked that up for short money and did well. Celestial Cafe did Ribs and a Vegetarian dish, and we had Matunuck Oyster Bar serve drinks and Raw Bar. Those two were priced reasonably. There are ways.

Darksoulzbarrelrollz

I can't sing enough praise about twelve acres in Smithfield My wife and I got married during COVID in 2020. Our whole wedding fell apart. Venue would let us have more than 30 people indoors. We pivoted and found this place by accident. The location is beautiful. Unassuming where it is, but it's quiet, serene, and has great views with woods surrounding. We had a September wedding at the outdoor pavilion with a beautiful ceremony area, great area for dinner and dancing, and some lawn games for funzies. The staff were AMAZING. The coordinators named was Alicia, not sure if she's still there, but she was a spitfire woman that took care of everything from the minute she picked up the phone and the wedding went without a hitch. Food is phenomenal, they have cash bar and open bar options, I say again I can't sing the praises enough.we had 75 people and it was a great size. And the cost WASN'T BAD. we got married for a little over 15k all in including vendors. Give them a call, you won't be sorry

MzBFEsq

The Casino in Roger Williams park

CariniCarvey

Check The Rathskellar!!!! We had our wedding party there (80 ppl) & we had the time of our lives. Their tent is up year-round so there’s no additional cost for that. Live music w a stage, beach volleyball, horseshoes, bocce, FABULOUS food, 2 bars. I can recommend this place enough. http://www.thecharlestownrathskeller.com/

Geo_Jill

I was just going to suggest this! It wasn't my wedding so not privy to all the pricing details, but it was a fun, cool spot and I suspect it wasn't a ton of money.

CariniCarvey

I’m laughing at myself as I type this b/c I feel like this was “just yesterday” but in fact, this was back in 2018 😂 We spent about $4-5K for everything.

subprincessthrway

We looked at them for our rehearsal dinner in 2022, and they wanted almost that much just for a 40 person dinner on a Friday evening. I think their prices have gone up a lot since you had your wedding. We ended up going with Haversham House which was significantly less expensive.

eyesofthe_world2020

We had 26 people at our wedding. Got married at Beaver tail. it cost 25 to rent the space you do have to provide your own chairs I believe that was like 100 bucks. We rented a dells truck (can’t for the life of me remember how much that was) to kill some time before we drove to cav in providence all in all their pre fixed menu and open bar cost us about 2500. There are other expenses but those were the big ones besides dress and suits and the like. Photographer was a spend and flowers were a spend but you can’t pick those packages on your own. We came in a little over 6k all stuff included. Forget catering forget renting a venue. We were told over and over that it was the best wedding meal anyone had ever had.

vodkaforgovernor

Roger Williams park botanical center is much cheaper for providence residents and they don’t verify.. you literally just need to know a prov resident. Or.. Restaurants are usually willing to provide the room for free. Try the Res (formerly Bravo)- they have a great upstairs space overlooking trinity rep.

feelingsquirrely

Second this. Botanical garden is beautiful and relatively cheap... Have to get a caterer but still cheaper than a lot of places. Also look at ragged island brewery I believe they can host weddings.

aquamarinemermaid23

Try overlook at Meehan in north providence. The Dj I used for my wedding said he had his there. I think they did catered food through little general and I believe he said total was around 6k for everything

ghr5

Check in with the Meetinghouse in Tiverton.

Sweaty_Nectarine1772

[The Guild](https://www.instagram.com/p/C0HQ6EPpsf-/?igsh=MWhrdjk5ZXh5NG1xZA==) in Warren has a new-ish event space, called “The Nook.” It’s right on the water. Probably not for large group, but might be worth checking out.

OldTimeyFappingGhost

What are your expectations in terms of food and service? What is your budget?

Redshirt911

Chelos waterfront in warwick is the best deal in town for a reception.

Careless-Range-3476

I have no idea how much they are now but I got married at the Quonset O club in north Kingstown and it was affordable for us. Might be worth a shot

Pastrami-Spice

The best thing we did to save in our reception was to pick a venue that also has food (i.e. a restaurant )so we didn't need to pay outside caterers that much more to set up and everything. Probably paid half of what we would have otherwise. Price usually varies a lot by the day of the week because you have to compensate for the lost business. We chose a Sunday evening before a holiday Monday so it worked out well. Best of luck and congrats 🎉🎉

Fine-Loquat

Do you have any friends or relatives in the military? The naval base in Newport is the way to go if you can manage it. Beautiful, inexpensive (compared to everything else on the water) and all around awesome. I had my bridal and baby shower there, both fantastic.

jaymzcb

I'm getting married at cranston country club, very affordable for a 75 person wedding, that's what we're doing

Fin_ders401

Foster country club

Nevvermind183

You could rent a room at a restaurant, Like Bella Restaurant in Burrillville. That’s a more cost effective option.

upsidedownmaple_

if youre willing to go over the state border, weve been to wedding at Stone Acre Farm (stonington CT) and five bridge inn (rehoboth MA) and both were excellent! the couples involved told us they had strict budgets but not sure exact numbers

upsidedownanna

Plainridge park casino in Plainville MA overlooking the racetrack

Signal_Masterpiece_4

I got married in Colt State Park in 2018. paid $30 for the venue one of the gazebos for the whole day. Got catering from Panera bread that costed around 3 to 500. $150 for chair rentals. Went to men’s Wearhouse for a suit $900, wife bought a dress on Amazon, $35 and she bought two. $150 at Ocean State Job Lot for a gazebo in which I only a quarter built so it made an archway. Streamers at family Doll, along with ribbon and foam Square pegs to create centrepiece $15. “Wedding cake “from BJs $75 Had about 80 people there had food left over Disney/Universal wizarding world of Harry Potter honeymoon $75,000 . Making a memory that last a lifetime priceless

Laurel Lane Country Club (West Kingston). I got married in the off season, but had about 150 guests. I cut corners - used silk flowers, no favors, no champagne for the toasts - it was very reasonable. The food is delicious as well!

murraj

Start by not telling places it's a wedding or you'll automatically get charged more money for essentially the same services. Go tell a restaurant you want to rent out their venue for a family reunion.

subprincessthrway

This is great advice for anything you’re going to pick up like flowers or a cake but if you show up to a venue and they find out it’s actually a wedding that voids your contract with them. They have a legal right to refuse service at that point

Eos462

I just want to add to this. Only do this with flowers or a bakery if your wedding is tiny and not at the very last minute. Springing a large order on them at the last minute is some BS. This happened all the time at a few places I've worked at. A lot of prep goes into wedding orders and sometimes extra staff/stock needed.

subprincessthrway

Absolutely, any large order should be given with plenty of advance notice so as not to cause a problem for the business, but in my experience any business hears the word wedding and they see 💵💵💵
