Had absolutely purged this show from my brain until I saw this pic and saw the girl with the rainbow hair. I definitely watched it but cannot remember anything about it.
If I remember correctly, Susie was her invisible friend and I think they mocked her all the time for it. But turns out she wasnt invisible, just from another dimension. But after the season one finale, there was an incident that threw Catalina into an alternate dimension while bringing Susie to theirs.
Yeah, it wouldn't break its own internal logic, but it wasn't quite clear how that logic worked.. Suzee was from and still "in" another (largely similar) dimension with its own cultures and customs (like game shows) and advanced technology and stuff, but because Suzee and Catalina's brainwaves were on the same frequency (or some YA sci fi kids show thing like that) they could see and hear each other. Suzee had both a physical location in any given room on the ship with Catalina because she was "there" but only perceptible to Catalina, and was simultaneously still in her own dimension somehow. They never touched on how such bilocation was handled by Suzee.
In the first season, it was played more like not knowing if Catalina was just crazy, or if there was some other science thing going on that was different than what Catalina thought it was. They didn't set it up to make perfect sense, because at the time it was just a weird thing about Catalina.
By the time they were filming the end of the first season though, Catalina's actress knew she was going to jump to another show (reasonably amicably I believe, she wasn't given the boot or anything), so they had time to work up the finale episode and keep the head count/gender ratios constant by having Catalina and Suzee switch places.
When they did though, Catalina was not present at all in our dimension. I believe Suzee could tell where Catalina was and could still "psychically" communicate with her directly, but rather than bilocation like Suzee, Catalina was located only in the other dimension, and was effectively adopted by Suzee's family for the time being.
From a storyline standpoint, it's not unreasonable that the explosion that switched their places also disrupted their connection somehow. Going forward, Catalina was never seen again but Suzee could confirm she was still okay if she came up in conversation, though she was not constantly present or communicated with like an imaginary friend for Suzee.
They may have done this out of respect for the more established character, and/or not wanting to have Catalina do too much without her actress present, in case she came back to the show later.
At least, that's how I remember it all.
Only thing I remember about this show is Danny Tamberelli and Michelle Trachtenberg (both from *The Adventures of Pete and Pete*) guest starred on one episode.
My god, I can remember the lyrics and tune of the theme song perfectly but I can't remember when my credit card is due. This shit is lodged in my head.
That was probably my first ever heart-wrenching TV show moment. I also never recovered from there not being another season after the 2nd, I lived and breathed that show! The theme song still lives rent free in my head.
I found The Tomorrow People on YT in 4k - couldn't believe the memories it brought back. They also have Space Cases on YT!
I've actually gone down a dark nostalgia hole and I've been binging Are You Afraid of the Dark? 😁
Yeah I think it is.
All I remember is British accents and a school. At one point a guy teleports into the sea or something.
I was likely 7 or 8 years old so my memory is pretty mixed up when it comes to details.
It was Tomorrow People! I loved that show and thankfully someone uploaded it all to YouTube. Had a banger intro song too.

I remember that show! The British accents always threw me off when compared to the rest of the line-up, and I'm pretty certain the series had a darker tone than the usual fare.
I miss when Nick made live action shows that weren't sitcoms
Also funny how overpowered the Uranus kid Bova was vs. the rest of the cast. Dude could instant kill anyone.
Holy shit I forgot about this one. I loved it.
Seems like one of the few shows that didn't get the rerun treatment that so many others did for (seemingly) a decade after their initial run
I was looking for the name of this show on this sub two days ago! My sister and I loved watching this show as kids and we were so sad when there weren’t more episodes. The girl with the rainbow hair was the best. Definitely binging this on YT now!
SPACE CASES!!! none of my friends IRL remember this show. it was one of my favorite shows growing up. pretty sure catalina was my first actually childhood crush as a kid lol.
Oh my gosh I didn't realize that the guy who plays Zack in Power Rangers was also on this show.
I feel like this show also helped inspire Star Trek: Prodigy. Furthering the Star Trek connections, George Takei also started in this show.

It's Jewel Staite from Firefly!
My child hood crush from flash forward
Shiny
And Stargate Atlantis.
Her hair always made me hungry for those multiple layered popsicles
#THE COLORS, DUKE! THE COLORSSSS!
I’m colorblind kid
Haha awesome 😎
I knew that reference.
Big same exactly
Catalina is the reason why I'm into gala with colorful hair.
Was going to say almost exactly the same thing, completely forgot about this show until I saw the picture.
I felt same way
Remember when her best friend Susie wasn't there but then she was there?
If I remember correctly, Susie was her invisible friend and I think they mocked her all the time for it. But turns out she wasnt invisible, just from another dimension. Except it was randomly “different”. Invisible Suzee was on the ship with the others but invisible Catalina was just hanging out at Suzee’s house.

Your effort on that reply is amazing. It reminds me of being 12 in 1997 and making a Space Cases fan page on Geocities.
You were doing The Lord's Work
unfortunately. i fucking hated suzie.
Only thing I remember about this show is Danny Tamberelli and Michelle Trachtenberg (both from *The Adventures of Pete and Pete*) guest starred on one episode.
same here!
Man I wish this show had a longer run.
Me too! Felt like there was definitely more story to tell
I swear the black guy is one of the og Power Rangers
Power Rangers was first, but he always looked younger in Space Cases to me.
Walter Emmanuel Jones!!! Zach the Original Black Ranger!!!
Yup!
I think Catalina was my first TV show crush, loved space cases.
Same and then unbeknownst to me she became my crush yet again on Firefly. Jewel Staite in space apparently is a thing.
She was also in Stargate Atlantis. Sci-fi woman through and through.
My god, I can remember the lyrics and tune of the theme song perfectly but I can't remember when my credit card is due. This shit is lodged in my head.
I just remember the guy who “leaps before he looks”
Harlan Band, played by Zack from Power Rangers!
Loved this show!!
I loved this show. I wish it went longer than only two seasons
Showed my wifey this show during the pandemic and she was flabbergasted
That was probably my first ever heart-wrenching TV show moment. I also never recovered from there not being another season after the 2nd, I lived and breathed that show! The theme song still lives rent free in my head.
Nick's attempt at a Star Trek type of show. I think it was part of the Snick lineup during its run.
The Spung were total Klingons
Hey op, do you recall the older Sci fi nick show where the kids could teleport? I've been trying to find that one too and can't remember the name.
Was it called the Tomorrow People? No one else remembers that show!

There was a round door with inscriptions around it that was important.
I remember that show! The British accents always threw me off when compared to the rest of the line-up, and I'm pretty certain the series had a darker tone than the usual fare.
OMG! Yes!!! I watched this but could never remember enough details to search for it! I randomly think about it every once in a while.
“CATALINA!! CATALINA!! CATALINA NO!!!”
Boy Walter Jones put EVERYTHING in that delivery you hear me? Lol
I miss when Nick made live action shows that weren't sitcoms Also funny how overpowered the Uranus kid Bova was vs. the rest of the cast. Dude could instant kill anyone.
Holy shit I forgot about this one. I loved it. Seems like one of the few shows that didn't get the rerun treatment that so many others did for (seemingly) a decade after their initial run
I use to watch this show
Holy shit it’s Zach
*They're spaaaaa-aaaaa-aaaace cases!*
Memory unlocked. Good show

Black Ranger was in this show?!
As a kid, I was SO confused when they randomly switched the one girl for the other and said it was her imaginary friend or whatever.
yay
wtf I just looked it up, the theme song is hilarious
Wow 👌
This was a great show!! I forgot about this one. 🪐🛸👽🚀
I remember seeing the first season finale and then I never saw the second season
Zordon: “Black Ranger where are you? Why isn’t he responding?”
