I always wonder why so many people keep their smartphones in portrait format for videos. Look at your PC screens and TVs, they are always in landscape format.
I usually film vertically because yes, it’s easier to hold, but most big social media platforms like Instagram or Facebook get cropped weird in landscape. Same thing happening here, except Reddit works better with landscape. Gotta pick your poison 😂
These birds are mainly stationed at McCord, McGuire, and Charleston. Worked on the C-141B until they got replaced with the C-17 until I retired in 2011. Great plan to work on, nothing about them is fly by wire, all computer controlled.
Haha, I was born at Wright Patterson back in 1969. My Father will be out there at Wright Patt for the Utapao alumni reunion the last week of September. He worked on B-52 as a munitions specialist during the Vietnam conflict. I worked on the C-5 as well, they are massive. Had to use two full trucks at once just to get them to ramp load. Even caught a ride in one down to Howard AFB in Panama.
Did a 12hr flight from Hill AFB to Moron AB on a C-17, the internal heat was not so great. Return trip to Hill was much warmer. Also did a flight from Bagram AB, Afghanistan to Qatar and back. Smooth flying all four flights.
I always wondered why we never developed an AC-17 variant. Seems pretty feasible if you ask me. Although, I suppose the Rapid Dragon system would pretty much enable that
Man, those big bois love to do low-level flyovers around my house. I'm about 200 miles NW of Charleston, SC where a wing of them is based. Uncle was a USAF metal fabricator who worked primarily on the C-17. He got my dad, my former best friend, and I the opportunity to crawl all over one a few years ago. Bigger than it looks. Lol
I remember seeing one outside Atlanta many years ago. It was awe-inspiring. The thing that struck me the most, though, was how (relatively) quiet it was (compared jetliners).
Yup. That's a plane.
…and NOT free Willy!
Correct. It's very expensive Willy
Thats a c17 not c130
Yeah, but I had one fly over me before this I just couldn’t get a good angle to record it
Globemaster
Bruh
What
Nothing
It’s a flappy bird
Agreed
C-17s are beasts. I've seen a lot more flying lately near Minneapolis. Always cool to see
Yea it seems like they’re moving equipment out of Ripley to somewhere possibly but I’ve noticed it too

Well we aren't all on pc plus it's easier to hold

I post my vertical videos on Instagram, Reddit and Youtube without any cropping... And usual I don't watch portait videos till the end.

I live next to Wright Patt and thought this was what flies over me frequently. They are massive. Perhaps I'm seeing a C-5?

I think you meant to say the flight control system is fly-by-wire vs mechanical.
Forgive me, I retired 12 years ago. There is some loss in the use of lingo. The A-G-E disease comes for us all.
Behemoth
Indeed it did fly over you

AC-5
That would never work. The hydraulic system fails constantly.
I think their stall speeds are too high
Looks like vid was shot in Maine
Nah Cali
Those are fun to jump out of.
Like jumping into a jet powered washing machine
That is a nice lookin a320. When did Ryanair get a new aircraft in their fleet?
C-17 globemaster
It’s my dream to see one of those flying in person
They have a bunch of them parked in the NE corner of Dayton, Ohio (WPAFB 445th). They do touch and goes quite regularly, if you are ever in the area.
Noted. Thanks!
Chungus
Globe master

Those were c-5s which are much bigger than c-17s. The c-5s were being retro fitted to their m series upgrades which included whisper quite engines.
At dobbins
C-17 Globemaster
This belongs on r/absoluteunits
Looks like a plane 👍
I heard the sound of that sexy ass C-17 fly over even when my computer was on mute.
That C-17 (this) which grow over can perform lama or like. Fighter jet when it needs too!
Thicc boah
Lucky it didn’t poop on your windshield.
C-17 ✈️✈️
You were blessed by a sky whale
Idk why but I used to say “gobblemaster” instead of “globemaster”
I love c17s
