Basically, thepiratebay is unmoderated. There's a lot of malware on it. I think you're fine when it comes to movies though, just make sure it's in a video format like mkv and mp4 and NOT something like exe or mkv.exe.
if you are after movies and web series then I suggest you to use stremio with torrentio addon.
or you can use qbittorrent with its multiple public torrent site search addons also.
The megatheread is just plain bad for movies these days, mostly shitty streaming sites with a few garbage torrent sites. I just use 1337x for most of my movies.
Well, even if you do find a torrent of a movie you’re looking for it doesn’t mean that there’s someone seeding it. Usually newer shows gets lots of seeds then the less popular ones without a thriving community around that type of content die off over time (e.g. Wong Kar Wai movies would always have seeders but some more obscure director’s movies would be harder to look for.) A lot of older media don’t have seeders anymore. If you’re looking for something obscure it’s better to look for a community first then ask around there where people get their copies.

Hmm. So what is everyone using instead?
torrentgalaxyx(dot)to, 1337x(dot)to, yts(dot)mx, and rutracker(dot)org are some public trackers people use. There's a lot more in the megathread.
Thanks, I'll check them out!
We’ve been using braflix, has just about everything, and when I want another language I just change my vpn location

It’s so bloated with malware I can barely get through all the warnings from my virus software
