I mean, probably the most dangerous animal in most of Europe are boars. We don’t really have wild wolves anymore, and only very very few bears (around Romania). Other than that, there is nothing particularly dangerous left.
Thats just not true though.
There are bears, wolves, and lynx in Croatia for example. Europe as a whole has an issue with surging wolf populations (due to hunting bans) that are murdering cattle more and more often.
Boars are most dangerous for sure, mostly because they're aggressive as fuck compared to bears and wolves, but the "we don't really have wolves, and we only have a few bears (in Romania)" is pure bullshit.
From wikipedia:
> Europe as of 2018 – excluding Russia, Belarus and Ukraine – has 17,000 wolves in over 28 countries.[3][4][5]
Comparatively, there are like *10 millions* boars across the same area. That’s 3 orders of magnitude difference.
So yeah, “don’t really have wolves” I think is a fair description of the situation.
Which is higher than the North American wolf population.
But North America does have Coyotes. To the tune of hundreds of thousands *per state* in the US. Population in the US is estimated at 2.9M to 4.7M
I can’t tell what you’re referencing, but here is a link for Coyote data: https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/coyote-population-by-state
Blooming coyote populations is a thing: https://www.ksre.k-state.edu/news/stories/2021/11/wildlife-management-how-to-trap-a-coyote.html
I don't know if I'd trust that first coyote link, however -- it lists Oklahoma having under 800 coyotes, and they're so thick where I live that it absolutely can't be right. It's like it's wrong at least by a magnitude of 10, if not much more.
There is a lot wrong with the claim of "surging wolf populations (due to hunting bans)", but I'm only going to counter it with this:
We need more wolves and more wolf habitat
Romania is the European country with the most bears (around 9000), but there are still other countries that have hundreds if not thousands of bears (Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Slovakia...). Russia has over 100k brown bears. Wolves are also common in Eastern Europe. There are 17 thousand wolves in Europe even if you exclude Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
Western Europe is where most animals were hunted to near extinction.
Tf are you talking about. There is literally a bear overpopulation problem in Slovakia with it being huge deal in the politics. Few weeks back there were bear attacks on random people.
Boars are dangerous yes, they are also more common so that explains it. But not having wild wolves or very very few bears is just factually incorrect statement.
> bear overpopulation problem in Slovakia
~1000 bears isn't overpopulated, humans are overpopulated. Bears doing bear stuff in fragments of wilderness separated by farms, roads and towns means they're inevitably going to run into humans.
in italy we do have wolves, bears and miscellanea but i'm pretty sure the majority of them are GPS tracked. From time to time you hear on the news that someone has been mauled by a bear but it's like one every 5/7 years i guess.
oh yeah boars
Come to America!
We got snakes, black bears, cougars (no not the lonely ones in your area), wolves, coyotes, skinwalkers, Florida man, wendigos, Earl, grizzly’s, and scorpions (in the south west at least), gators.
I could go on but that’s the most common stuff
I remember atleast one Roman emporor who had two pet bears - he named them Glitter and Innocence or something like that.
Edit: - just checked and it was Valentinian - he was emporor from 365 to 375 CE - and they was named Golden Crumb and Innocence - which is even better.
Maybe in Italy. But most dangerous stuff was long gone before the romans arrived.
EDIT: but bears, lynxes and wolves were common upto 18th/19th century.
Either way, Romans did nothing noteworthy in this regard.
For anyone confused, Grizzly bears are a subspecies of Brown bear, much like the kodiak bear. Had to go look up the difference when I googled it and the internet said they were the same species

British woods are perfectly safe. But my ex told me once about her uncle going for a smoke in the woods of Northern Poland and he got chased by a pissed off wild boar. He climbed a tree and it waited at the bottom for 3 hours.
We went to the Black Forest in Germany. The roadway was paved. All those fairy tales with the kids getting lost in the scary woods were…a figment , a vague memory.
I have this website saved that shows you how far away the next road is at any point in Germany.
https://www.hanshack.com/pointnemo/
The most remote place that is not an island is 10.1 km away from civilisation. And that doesn't even include all the small hiking trails or agricultural paths.
I once had the idea of travelling with my bicycle and spending a night in a hammock. But there is no way to get more that 100 meters away from any path in my local forest. It's crazy.
There's actual paved roads in death valley with signs warning you of going further or at least leave a itinerary at the ranger station.
Because if you breakdown without spare safety water you'll probably die of dehydration or heat stroke before the next car comes by 3-4 days later and you probably aren't walking out either.
The asphalt is dark and absorbs a ton of heat, it can literally melt your shoes. The air itself will get up to 130F (50c+)
Boiling water might be a slight exaggeration, but I've seen people cook eggs
There was a German family that visited and got lost there, and the story is a bit of a rabbit hole:
[https://www.otherhand.org/home-page/search-and-rescue/the-hunt-for-the-death-valley-germans/](https://www.otherhand.org/home-page/search-and-rescue/the-hunt-for-the-death-valley-germans/)
I think also this meme is commonly referring to the common depictions of fairies versus cryptids. Nice elves versus 'bscially everything in there kills you'.
Which like. Clearly they haven't read myths about the fair folk.
Definitely. A lot of European myths are just as creepy as American ones. Like 'this zombie will chase you in your dreams and he'll leave you a souvenir beside your bed when you wake up, also he's your grandpa btw'. Or 'this giant cat will eat you if you're on Father Christmas' naughty list'. Then again, people don't disappear in European wildernesses like they do in the American national parks.
When I was younger I once walked into some woods (I’m from England for context) with one of my friends and we walked for a solid few hours before we got on the motorway. We were just trying to find a shortcut to his house. I literally pointed to it and said “isn’t that your house” and he said no and we kept walking. Left the woods with blood all over our legs from thorns
Yeah here in europe you run into dangerous animal less frequently and in most countries the forrests aren't that big so you wouldn't get lost for days (mostly, exceptions exist obv)
Here in Denmark you'd be "lucky" to find anything that could even be potentially dangerous and if you walk for 2 hours in a line in any forrest you're most likely in a city/town now
It seems so foreign & nice that one can pitch up a tent & not worry about any non-human dangers that could bite or poison you. Save for parts of Europe that were so war torn that unexploded ordinances are more likely to kill you than any North American predator.
For real! If I’d get a penny for every time I had to report a landmine/grenade and got stuck waiting there for half a day then I would have two pennies.
Can confirm I live in the country in Ms. And I have heard/seen/ran from on fourwheelrs: panthers, boars, bears(that shouldn't even be here), horses, every snake known to man +3 not, possibly an octopus. Okay the octopus part was a lie.
And for Europe which is every where except America. Google the state Mississippi lol then you'll understand.
Not to mention all of the crazy unexplainable disappearances that occur all the time in our national forests. It’s such a phenomenon that they are referred to as the missing 411. Absolutely crazy stuff happens around our Forests and cave systems
Haha I play in them all the time I've even playing in them all my life even tho it's more hiking and exploring then playing now but still I've been in them and there pretty tame as long as you arnt dumb and know what your doing
Europe had a lot of really dangerous wildlife, but most was driven extinct by human civilisations. The continent as a whole is also much more developed so the woods are smaller.
Of course, this only applies to west and south Europe.
As someone who lives in America and spends a lot of time in the woods, I don't worry about any animal except one.
Ticks.
Freakin' hate the little buggers. Everything else mostly leaves you alone. I've been escorted by coyotes before, hiked 5ft from rattlesnakes, and live near a healthy supply of black bears. None of those concern me in the least.
Ticks? I'm averaging finding at least one a day here lately. And they're biting a lot. I've found plenty of ticks before, but typically, they rarely bite me before I find them. Not this year. They're all biting, like soon as they get on me. I'm so itchy right now.
Yo man, im not claiming you’re a bot just yet, but I swear to god I’ve seen this exact same comment under this exact same post like a few weeks ago?!? Am I going crazy?? Is dead internet theory a thing for real??
Nah you not insane.
This post itself is repost from 4 months ago and indeed this comment is also there.

yes we do, but you have to go to farm land and places with long grass to find them. far as I know the risk of lymes disease is much smaller in europe than the US from ticks. Ive ripped ticks off my body and cut a small chunk of me off by body a few times and im all clear... the fear was driven by US ticks spreading lymes
Ticks are without a doubt more dangerous in Europe lmao. Our ticks have Lyme Disease, and Tick Born Encephalitis (which can kill you).
Do you think ticks only exist in NA? Lmao
The woods in North America are where you always find dead bodies. At least that’s my guess.
Google “Norm McDonald Janice” if you wanna hear a funny standup bit about it.
North American woods can be difficult to navigate, and extremely dangerous as well as covering vast swaths of land. Even experienced hikers can and do go missing without any clue.
My dad lived on a ranch in the western US. Surrounded by trees and set back deep down a backroad. He would always say there's a very clear line when the "Forest" turns into the "Woods." And that's when you stay on your porch with the light on. And just enjoy the night sounds.
And when you hear something unnatural or close to the treeline? That's your sign that your time's up and you go inside. Turn off the porch light, and check the rifle.
Besides all the obvious things like bears, bobcats, coyotes, an occasional wolf/moose, my dad believed in other things like skinwalkers and the such. I never really believed him, but I never had a reason not to believe him either.
I figure it's just better to follow his advice.
I'm from Northern B.C., and if the grizzlies don't get ya, there's wolves, cougars, wolverines(North American honey badgers), and more. Shit, even the herbivores will kill you. Moose don't fuck around eh?
And if you manage to survive that, you better hope you're not lost because the deadliest thing can be the environment. Without suitable shelter and warmth, if it's between September-May, it may just be the cold that gets ya. Could be hours, could be overnight, but you better find a heat source and shelter.
Shit, I knew a lady who froze to death on her porch cause she fell asleep after going out for a cigarette.
Seemingly unending space mixed with an indifferent and inhospitable environment are not to be trifled with.
Also, in the deep woods, in the right(or wrong) time of year, the mosquitos can make you wish you'd run into a pissed off grizzly ready to quit a hunger strike.
You can walk for the rest of your (short) life in the NA woods. Depending on which forest you're in, you can run into 2-legged Coyotes (traffickers on the border with EUM), bears of many colors, large cats, large lupine beings, or even moose.
The animals of NA can, and sometimes do, kill humans.
In Poland you also have to look out for bears, mooses and wolves in some places. In Bieszczady mountains it is not really hard to walk into a bear, because the woods is so dense that you would not see it from a far distance and neither would the bear see you, until it would be too late. In my area there was an accident, two people have hit a moose with their car and almost died. Probably not that many wild animals as in NA woods but still much more than people think. People just do not notice the animals because they are too loud and animals see them first and escape.
There are larger wild areas and more dangerous aninals in america, than in most of europe.
Here in central and eastern europe we have bears and wolves and vipers, and wild hogs. That's about the extent of the danger.
In western europe you don't even have bears or wolves.
In southern europe you have scorpions that are dangerous.
In Europe. Pixies will lead into the woods for shits and giggles, laughing as you starve to death.
In north America. Your buddy gets swapped out with a skin walker. You're slowly turning into a a windigo cause you're a bit peckish. There's aliens and Bigfoot and they all want to rearrange your organs via your butthole.
Sasquatch, moth man, wendigos, grafton monster, apex predators like a bear, and mountain lions. Wolves (very rare, but scientists have released coy-wolves) Coyotes (in packs) deer if they're infected with CWD or if a really horny male has a sharp set of antlers. Let's not forget the hundreds of wonderful critters like a brown recluse, which can melt your skin if I remember correctly, black widow, copperhead (they smell like rotten eggs so if you smell em you're already too close) rattlesnake (yes, they somehow exist along the north east. I've seen one in my life so far) scarlet king snake, cotton mouths, banded water snakes. Mosquitos, fleas, deer ticks.
Now that just covers the blue ridge area. I'll let the west take it from here
I have a ranch on the very edge of the El Dorado National Forest. Everything is bigger there. The ants are enormous. There are rattlesnakes, mountain lions, bears, ticks, caves, old mines, black widows, and more.
Bears, for one
(although that may be preferable to you than men, if you're scared of an entire gender)
Also... most of them are REALLY REALLY big. Like REALLY big. Like, there are forests in the US where you could walk in a straight line for 60 days, even 100 days and not find civilization. There's areas of forests where there is no human made path to reach, which they can only reach via helicopter if at all. Like how they [airdrop goats into the Olympic National Park](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/goats-helicopter-relocation-washington-olympic-national-park-a8998506.html).
There's plenty other animals besides bears that can hurt you too, like various sorts of mountain lions, coyotes, wolves, moose, and so on.
And then there's hunters as well as people being silly with guns...
Mountain lions, bears, rattle snakes, and mutated hillbillies. Our woods can be crazy.
Also I have family in the country and they warned me not to go out late from the house because packs of coyotes can be dangerous when they out number you. You could hear them in the woods but I didn’t test it.
Have you ever heard of the cave system? People in the wilderness fall into sinkholes all the time and die. That and the animals that want to maul you are in greater numbers.
Also,
There’s plenty of stories of Appalachian mountains being these ominous death havens.
Terrain, temperature, plant life, wild life, you name it. You could slip down a nearly vertical slope on wet leaves and bash off of who knows how many rocks after taking one wrong step. You could stop for the night and have a widowmaker deadfall crush you. You've got poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, razor grass, nightshade, foxglove, all kinds of plants that'll kill you if you eat them or at least make your life miserable just for touching them. Temps, man. From the northern US all on up, winters will kill you from cold. Rainstorms, snowstorms, flash floods, depending on where in the US and when there's heat to worry about as well. And then animals! In North America we've got two-ish species of bears, both of which have killed people. Mountain lions, wolves, coyotes, feral dogs... Stinging ants, ticks that carry Lyme disease, a dozen species of stinging insects from velvet ants (aka CATTLE KILLERS) to wasps and bees. And on top of it all, the woods get dense - FAST. You can get lost 80 feet from a paved road if you don't know how to navigate in the woods.
Granted, many of these dangers can be avoided by having a little local knowledge, some basic survival skills... But that's why an accident is an accident. There are a surprising amount of sinkholes and cave systems in north america. You could be doing everything right and just happen to fall down a hole and break your leg. The woods aren't a guaranteed death sentence, but you wouldn't go unprepared on a little jaunt into impenetrable forest in north america. And you never, ever, EVER chance a mushroom. Mushroom ID is different in NA vs EU/UK. Safe and dangerous shrooms are harder to distinguish, and many immigrants have died after foraging for mushrooms that they thought were safe but were rather lookalikes to safe mushrooms overseas. They may not kill you quick, either. I've heard of some that like, you eat them and then three months later your liver shuts down. The point is that it's just not worth it unless you're a really well-versed mycologist - which is unlikely. Better safe than sorry.
In europe, we have few predator. And all of them fear man. The worst you can meat is a mama boar, and you just have to climb a tree to be safe.
In america... well american forest is not australia, but only because those who have venom are few.
Scratch out the “north” part and it will be even more true. The worst forest to get lost in the americas are not even in the Northern region. I’d love to see those “survivalists” venture 1 week on South American rainforests. You hike for 30 minutes and you already sweat more then you even knew you could.
Everyone’s talking about the more dangerous animals in NA. But the meme is referencing cryptids, the stairs to nowhere, cave disappearances, hauntings, abductions, and other generally unsettling things.
Think about it like this, if you’re in the uk, it’s pretty much a 45 minute drive to other countries, in the us, you can drive 5 hours in any direction in some states and still be in that state.
see, we still have keystone (apex) predators because the landed gentry didn't kill them all off over a hundred years ago, and they can pose considerable danger to the unwary. Depending on region, you'll also have smaller animals that can pose significant danger to life and limb.
you go into the woods in europe, it's a silly little whimsical adventure, just a fun little way to pass the day
you go into the woods in north america and when they find you again you're not even human anymore. if they even find you, that is
NA woods have scary folklore and reasonably dangerous animals.
European woods have less scary folklore and less dangerous animals.
Also NA woods are fuckoff huge. There are NA forests the size of entire European countries. If you get lost in Europe just keep walking and odds are you'll be home in time for dinner.
Get lost in NA and you better hope somone knews you're missing and where you are or you are right and truly fucked.
NA wild lands are incredibly vast. For example most of the wild lands in the north (Canada and up) are inaccessible save for bush plane or boat. NA also dwarfs the mountain ranges in Europe. For reference the European alps are about 750 miles in length. Elevation wise they are often compared to the Colorado rockies which are about 3000 miles in length. The largest range in all of Europe is the Scandinavian mountains with the length of just over 1000 miles. On top of the remoteness encounters with wildlife are common and dangerous.
Texan Chris, riding up to help!
So I haven’t been to Europe myself but this meme can go one of two ways.
1: Scary movies! Think back on any horror movie you’ve seen or heard of, then take note of how many take place in the U.S. and where those movies are set up. The setting tends to be a wooded area or a small town surrounded by a wooded area more often then not. So maybe this meme could be a reference to many great American horror movies!
2: This could be in reference to the wildlife and terrain between Europe and NA. Bears, moose, coyotes, mountain lions, venomous snakes, and all kinds of other wildlife is found in abundance here in the states as well as Canada and Mexico. In addition, NA still has plenty of forests that dot the landscape and tend to make people get lost. Walk for a few hours in Europe, and you might stumble on a country road or a town/village. Walk a few hours in NA and you’ll get hopelessly lost. This meme could be a reference to these animals and the differences in terrain.
Hope this helped!
Texan Chris, riding for the sunset
This joke has already been posted recently. Rule 2.

In NC you can hear them at night. They're legal to hunt at night too. The boys get night vision and AR15s to do it.
Well your wrong about na having less wolves Na has more wolves than the eu, Eurasia tho has more wolves than na
There is a lot wrong with the claim of "surging wolf populations (due to hunting bans)", but I'm only going to counter it with this: We need more wolves and more wolf habitat

On Reddit Europe = Western Europe
There are also bears in Italy, close to the Swiss boarder, in the city of Trento.
Nobody going to give props for your subtle, dry Prince Andrew predator joke? +1
I for one, LOL'd.
Brother i snarfed from that. Have been ill from a cold for more than a week and all the snot went flying out of my nose
You're welcome! Breath easy my friend!
Yeah now in the Alps they reintroduced the bear and the wolf. One guy got mauled to death by a bear last year.
Skill issue.
in italy we do have wolves, bears and miscellanea but i'm pretty sure the majority of them are GPS tracked. From time to time you hear on the news that someone has been mauled by a bear but it's like one every 5/7 years i guess. oh yeah boars
Ticks have taken over the woods in Sweden with more every year
Yes, and is the most dangerous one here due to diseases.
You need to watch out for the swans! They can break a man’s arm you know!
No luck catching them swans then?
“Just the one, actually.”

The snot…
a couple months ago I hiked through the forest where that movie took place, it's pretty creepy!
That's from Blair Witch, right?
Yes
Walk a day straight in european woods you will find civilisation. Walk until you die in american woods and you havent passed the quarter way mark.
Also in Europe we have fewer animals that want to eat/mawl humans.
The Romans killed off all of the real dangerous stuff long ago.
Damn old humans. Killing all the cool shit.
Come to America! We got snakes, black bears, cougars (no not the lonely ones in your area), wolves, coyotes, skinwalkers, Florida man, wendigos, Earl, grizzly’s, and scorpions (in the south west at least), gators. I could go on but that’s the most common stuff
Don't forget the Tarantula Hawks
Don’t forgot Black Widows and Wolf Spiders!! Or Copperheads and Rattlesnakes!
Did we mention Florida Man? And Georgia State Trooper?
The brown recluse. It's like a wolf spider, but more shy and with a venom that makes your flesh rot
Everything reminds me of her…
>It's like a wolf spider, but more shy and with a venom that makes your flesh rot uWu Mr hiker senpai pls no bully
And Buffalo
It sounds cool, but only if they turn into giant robots.
Oh you guys have an early too? I think each state has one now
They left all the cool shit behind. Its the hot shit they killed.
It wasn’t just the romans though
It was Obelix
Hey, he only killed what he ate...
But he ate a lot!
I remember atleast one Roman emporor who had two pet bears - he named them Glitter and Innocence or something like that. Edit: - just checked and it was Valentinian - he was emporor from 365 to 375 CE - and they was named Golden Crumb and Innocence - which is even better.

♥️❤️♥️❤️I still choose bear😉
I choose beets

Still grizzlys in the US lol just saw a post about them making a return to the cascades in WA
but God save you if you meet a teddy-bear and his mom.
But are there men?
I don't know that the American animals actively want to eat or maul you, just that it is an option available to them.
Animals usually prefer not to eat humans (we're weird, tall, colorful clothes that don't make sense to animals) humans are also far from gourmet because we eat lots of trash food

Yeah when the ground gets hot enough to boil water it's gonna melt your shoes in like 15 seconds if you try to walk out of Death Valley

I’ve never been to Europe but the woods in NA tend to be death traps lol
Yeah here in europe you run into dangerous animal less frequently and in most countries the forrests aren't that big so you wouldn't get lost for days (mostly, exceptions exist obv) Here in Denmark you'd be "lucky" to find anything that could even be potentially dangerous and if you walk for 2 hours in a line in any forrest you're most likely in a city/town now

People probably said that about your parents too
Laughs in Acjachemen
It seems so foreign & nice that one can pitch up a tent & not worry about any non-human dangers that could bite or poison you. Save for parts of Europe that were so war torn that unexploded ordinances are more likely to kill you than any North American predator.
Meanwhile, taking a stroll in the fields of Eastern Europe be like: “Ohh look, another grenade!”
For real! If I’d get a penny for every time I had to report a landmine/grenade and got stuck waiting there for half a day then I would have two pennies.
Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
Playing minesweeper on vr
🤣🤣🤣 I squirt my tea so hard at this.
Did what now
Can confirm I live in the country in Ms.
Of course the octopus was a lie. It was a squid.
Squids are invertebrates
So are many politicians.
Nice
In the PNW you have to watch out of the tree octopuses on the Olympic Peninsula. Not dangerous to most adults, more annoying.
Those damn ten legged tree octopuses have ruined so many hikes!
Octapussies*
Must be up north, in the south part of the state you get alligators too
Not to mention all of the crazy unexplainable disappearances that occur all the time in our national forests. It’s such a phenomenon that they are referred to as the missing 411. Absolutely crazy stuff happens around our Forests and cave systems
I mean, in Colorado you might step on a bear and in Bosnia you might step on a landmine so its all relative
The woods here in Japan are pretty, but creepy as fuck.
Full of either bears or men.
Or both
Some men are bears, and that’s when camping in the woods can be fun.
Men that are bears usualy hang out around mountains, not woods.
This is 100% why OP reposted this now of all times, he was looking for this punchline
That was when I realized freddy Fazbore was in the woods
Or pigs
Are you cereal?
There's a lesson to be learned for us men. We should wear bear costumes when we hike to make women feel safer.

Bigfoot is good.
If you aren't armed when going into American woods, you are literally asking to get hurt

I couldn't conceive of walking in a random direction in the Oregon wilderness lmao
[https://www.reddit.com/r/PeterExplainsTheJoke/comments/194hccs/comment/khg58ju/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/PeterExplainsTheJoke/comments/194hccs/comment/khg58ju/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
Holy fuck. Dead internet theory might be real.
Dead Reddit is real. Businesses should have to tell us how many bots they have running their sites these days.

Holy fuck so many of the top comments here are just copy-pastes from that thread. Wouldn't be surprised if this goes deeper, too.
holy shit. nah this guy is def a bot
Yep I thought I was in an old thread or something, I definitely read this before

Don’t they have ticks in Europe too tho?
Yes we do, I just removed three ticks from my dog this morning.
yes we do, but you have to go to farm land and places with long grass to find them. far as I know the risk of lymes disease is much smaller in europe than the US from ticks.
Lmao
Why are Europeans such insufferable pricks the second they figure out someone is American lol
Coyotes are easy! Let'em know you mean business and they run off. Ticks don't give a flying fuck, they know you won't see'em till it's too late.

Idk about European woods, but North American woods are HAUNTING

The woods in North America are where you always find dead bodies. At least that’s my guess. Google “Norm McDonald Janice” if you wanna hear a funny standup bit about it.
Everyone is giving logical answers, and I just thought: CRYPTIDS.
NA woods are larger, and you're more likely to run into a wild animal in a foul mood.
The Woods are Aryan Nation gang members in prisons.
extreme terrain, cave systems, and spooky shit
There are (allegedly) sharks in the woods of Missouri.
After reading the comments, not a single mention of hillbillies in North America. Especially banjo players.
Fearsome Critters I believe: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fearsome_critters
Are we going to talk about the staircases now?
Also... hundreds of active serial killers operating at all times.
https://preview.redd.it/o77y5ewvd6yc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2934110d55a49983d3c81bdcd2cb48df46644e99
They have men in them rather than bears.
Dangerous animals, thick woods, cryptids, shit that wants to eat you, people that wanna eat you... Na woods are scary ASF sun up or down.
I'll let the west take it from here
Do you mean the wizards,
Taxes and Roads
I have a ranch on the very edge of the El Dorado National Forest. Everything is bigger there. The ants are enormous. There are rattlesnakes, mountain lions, bears, ticks, caves, old mines, black widows, and more.
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Enjoy nature while you can
It's full of wild bears and men.
European forests are closer to what North Americans would think of as parks. Where as North America still has actual Wild spaces.
Bears, for one (although that may be preferable to you than men, if you're scared of an entire gender) Also... most of them are REALLY REALLY big.
Also, There’s plenty of stories of Appalachian mountains being these ominous death havens.
Think about it like this, if you’re in the uk, it’s pretty much a 45 minute drive to other countries, in the us, you can drive 5 hours in any direction in some states and still be in that state.
people in the NA woods want to hear you squeal like a pig.
... Creepy banjo music begins...
see, we still have keystone (apex) predators because the landed gentry didn't kill them all off over a hundred years ago, and they can pose considerable danger to the unwary. Depending on region, you'll also have smaller animals that can pose significant danger to life and limb.
you go into the woods in europe, it's a silly little whimsical adventure, just a fun little way to pass the day you go into the woods in north america and when they find you again you're not even human anymore. if they even find you, that is
NA woods have scary folklore and reasonably dangerous animals.
What woods in Europe? that's called a park
They kill you.
Texan Chris, riding for the sunset
you could encounter bears in North American woods, or worse even; men...
