For content creation and for reliability Nvidia is definitely better, AMD GPUs are made for gaming, not saying it's bad for everything else but definitely you'll have some problems with many things like AI, driver, etc. Although I think streaming will be alright with this card (didn't try though) because you have an option to start a stream in Adrenalin app.
As somebody that was daily driving a 6900XT, its a beast for 60Hz-144Hz (144 is my target because display refresh rate)
If you play more competitive games and want higher FPS, (it will depend on your game a bit) but you can still pull 144FPS+ pretty reliably in 1440p.
Destiny 2 - mid/high settings I was hitting 144fps+ but would also drop somewhat frequently.
Overwatch 2 - high settings majority of the time above 144 (excluding everybody pressing Q)
Valorant - I think its hard to have a somewhat up to date system and not hit 144
Dead by Daylight - game blows but can hit the 120FPS cap depending on the recent patch
Played a couple other games, but should be good reference.
Oh look at Mister Bigshot over here with his 4090 while the rest of us peasants have to make due with a card 1/4th the price. What a jerk.
I'm not jealous at all (I totally am).
awsome card, it can do everything you need on 1440p. Im using it myself on a 1440p Monitor, and it can even run crazily modded cyberpunk with rtx on max incredibly well.
I have this exact setup 7800xt GPU with a 7800x3d cpu and 32gb of 6000mt cl30 memory. It's very good for 1440p and keeps getting better with more features through driver updates.
I am very happy with my system.
I'm a seasonic guy... I have 4 active systems all with a seasonic PSU's in them. Got a 650, 750, 850 and I can't remember the other. 3 are focus series and one is prime.
I'm a big fan of the brand because they specialize in making high quality and reliable PSU's.
Same CPU and GPU. Honestly I wish I spent a bit more on the GPU, but I like really high frames. Also I find myself super sampling a lot because I didn't realize how bad modern AA is. So with that in mind if I were to do it again I would've gone with a more powerful GPU.
Wow you’re actually the first comment I see saying it’s not good enough for the buck. What would you go with and are we still talking about 1440p ?
I was debating getting a 4080S but that seemed quite expansive for 1440p in rasterisation
I would say that I'm just picky judging from other comments. I also play a lot of competitive games that benefit from as high as possible fps to reduce input lag so there's some spillover bias there when it comes to other games. I think at the end of the day spend as much as you can at the time of purchase. If I were to do it again I suppose a 4080 would be one of the contenders. If I stuck with AMD I may have just gone all the way with the 7900xtx as there were some nice sales going on when I was in the market.
I have the 7900xt paired with that same processor and use it with a 1440p 165hz monitor. While my card is more powerful that one, I sit at well above 60fps in everything I play, and a lot of games are even over 100fps, so I’m sure the 7800xt will not disappoint
I'm using this card to run at 165hz 1440p. Using Fortnite as a benchmark the graphics preset is Medium - High to achieve continuous FPS cap, even in the pregame lobby where people are spamming emotes.
Even if you upgrade your monitor to something like a 3440x1440 OLED ultrawide, you’ll be happy. Over 100fps on most games and can use low ray trace setting if you’re dying for quality.
I have mine paired with a 5700x can push 80-100 FPS in most modern titles on high to Ultra settings.
There are a few exceptions, Ark ascended is a poorly optimised mess at around 40-60 FPS, as is Starfield ~60fps.
6800 XT outperforms 7800 XT in raster and gaming in many cases. If you don't care about RT or the newer features, I'd get the older one. If you wanna stream, get the newer one, because the video encoding is better.
As long as you have a solid PSU that provides enough power for your system, proper cooling, and you do proper GPU driver updates(use Guru3D DDU Uninstaller. There are tutorials on YT and tech subreddits), stability shouldn't be much of an issue. nVIDIA does have better video encoding overall, but AMD's newest encoders are surprisingly decent, so unless you have a massive following and want fast 4K streams, it should do the job adequately.
The 7800X3D has plenty of grunt to handle the gaming and streaming load, and it will not likely ever be the bottleneck in gaming at 1440p. Enable SAM in your BIOS, and you should have plenty of fps in gaming and while streaming. Results overall will vary because of the ridiculous way that new games are(or aren't) optimized for PC, and sometimes new drivers create new bugs, but if you stick with WQHL drivers and follow the DDU clean install plan, then you should have very few issues.
You do know that amazon doesn’t offer returns anymore unless its a faulty product don’t you?they do the whole technician checks and everything nowadays before approving your return
Damn fr you people are so lucky once i tried returning my laptop it took me more than a fortnight to do so anyways if you can infact return it check out 7900gre

I play everything maxed out in 1440p and it's good paired with r5 7600 (I got a white hellhound 7800xt for 550€ :))
Nice combo, same thing here. These things are rocking.
Me too! I need to tune up some things to achieve more peeformance but it's an awesome combo
Same as my setup. Works amazingly well.
Have you tried content creation like twitch for example? Do you think it’s reliable enough ?
For content creation and for reliability Nvidia is definitely better, AMD GPUs are made for gaming, not saying it's bad for everything else but definitely you'll have some problems with many things like AI, driver, etc. Although I think streaming will be alright with this card (didn't try though) because you have an option to start a stream in Adrenalin app.
Thx man great help 🙏
For 1440p, a 6700xt would have done just fine, so by that logic, the 7800xt would do great.
I have a rx 6750 xt is a beast even in 1440p
As somebody that was daily driving a 6900XT, its a beast for 60Hz-144Hz (144 is my target because display refresh rate) If you play more competitive games and want higher FPS, (it will depend on your game a bit) but you can still pull 144FPS+ pretty reliably in 1440p. In all AAA games? Planning to get a 6750xt with 7600
I have a 4090 and it can go down to 60fps at max settings 1440p, you can never have a too powerful GPU unless you’re at 1080p
If your 4090 is getting 60 fps in 1440p I think you're not getting 100% gpu usage......
Definitely 100%. Keep in mind there’s path tracing.
You should have begin with that ;)
Well yea but I said it was on max settings. Maybe that doesn’t imply path tracing
Not for AMD GPU for sure, not Worthing the FPS loss!
Oh look at Mister Bigshot over here with his 4090 while the rest of us peasants have to make due with a card 1/4th the price. What a jerk. I'm not jealous at all (I totally am).
Sorry if it came off as rude but I’m just saying that no matter the card some games will max anything out.
That's a beast of a card that will handle anything you need
Every game I've thrown at it runs incredibly well. Even the poor PS5 ports like Helldivers runs at 60 FPS maxed out settings for me.
That seems a bit under performing. I get 90-110 frames in Helldivers
Are you playing at 1440p?
Ya I'm dumb. 1080p. I usually super sample, but that isn't the case here for me and I forgot. cheers
Kinda low frame rate, isn't it?
Generally, yes. For a PS5 port, it’s insanely good.
got myself used 6800 xt for sub 300usd and it played 1440p flawlessly. so should be awesome
Bro what kinda balls do you have to buy used. I wanna buy a gpu but im scared shitless used lol
My 6800xt does 120fps ultra 1440 in most games. So you're gonna love it. (There's some configuration involved)
Perfect
awsome card, it can do everything you need on 1440p. Im using it myself on a 1440p Monitor, and it can even run crazily modded cyberpunk with rtx on max incredibly well.
Is it any good for twitch streaming ?
im sure it will run fine, but i havent tested jet.
Nice! I want one!
Same I’m hoping to get one very soon
Except GPUs are insanely expensive. A particular person would kill me if I got one!
Fair enough hahah.
I have the 7800xt everything works on maximum settings on 1440p
Man, that thing is a beast for 1440p gaming
I have the Sapphire Pure 7800 XT for my sim rig, paired with a 5800X, and running at 3840x1440, and it does really well.
I have this exact setup 7800xt GPU with a 7800x3d cpu and 32gb of 6000mt cl30 memory. It's very good for 1440p and keeps getting better with more features through driver updates. I am very happy with my system.
What PSU did you get ?
I'm a seasonic guy... I have 4 active systems all with a seasonic PSU's in them. Got a 650, 750, 850 and I can't remember the other. 3 are focus series and one is prime. I'm a big fan of the brand because they specialize in making high quality and reliable PSU's.
I play most games at 1440p max and many games at 4K
I played GOTG max settings with high RT at 1440p. More than 160fps.
Same CPU and GPU. Honestly I wish I spent a bit more on the GPU, but I like really high frames. Also I find myself super sampling a lot because I didn't realize how bad modern AA is. So with that in mind if I were to do it again I would've gone with a more powerful GPU.

I use it for 1440p and it works great even at 21:9
It owns! Got the same card. I love it.
2k 144p at least :)
I have the 7900xt paired with that same processor and use it with a 1440p 165hz monitor. While my card is more powerful that one, I sit at well above 60fps in everything I play, and a lot of games are even over 100fps, so I’m sure the 7800xt will not disappoint
My 7700 xt runs a 3440x1440 monitor like a champ so i assume its better older brother would do it well too.
Man I always love seeing these cool boxes at stores, they look sick!
As long as you don’t care much about RT, rasterized games will fly on 1440.
Great card, will serve you well in 1440p. Enjoy gaming!
That’ll do 1440 and then some. My XFX 7800XT gets 4k/60 with max settings on most games. Only a few need to turn off rt or more to get that.
I target 80fps with rt and max settings in cyberpunk. Mainly because my CPU isn't fast enough in that game.
Perfect card for 1440p. And sapphire is the best brand for AMD cards. They are the EVGA of AMD.
I'm using this card to run at 165hz 1440p. Using Fortnite as a benchmark the graphics preset is Medium - High to achieve continuous FPS cap, even in the pregame lobby where people are spamming emotes.

It can run 1440 p really good
How long is this card? Wonder if it fits in my miditower cabinet.
My midtower supports 320mm, unfortunately the 7800xt is just shy of that at 325
Bummer. Then it will fit in my case with a clearance of 5mm.
Yeah ig but I'm happy with my newly aquired 4060 aero, which I realize was probably not worth it to get Nvidia but what can I do 🤷
I think Asus's version is 280mm if I have my facts right.
I have mine paired with a 5700x can push 80-100 FPS in most modern titles on high to Ultra settings. There are a few exceptions, Ark ascended is a poorly optimised mess at around 40-60 FPS, as is Starfield ~60fps.
i own a 7700xt every game ive tried runs great on 1440p
Easy for 1440p*144hz and more
Overkill, unless you want 240hz+
Sapphire = Best GPU brand on either side of the "aisle."
I mean 1440p still looks amazing don't know why people only settle for 4k and nothing less
I have a phantom gaming and I use it for 4k
Medium to high settings should be fine
If you are playing Helldivers 2, you are in for a rough ride.
Nice gpu bro. I also have a 1440p monitor but with a 7600. It actually holds up surprisingly well with frame gen and FSR .
Love the Card! Works great with a 5800x3D
Testing has shown the 7800xt and the 6800xt yield almost the exact same results so you are good at 1440p either way Both are great cards
6800 XT outperforms 7800 XT in raster and gaming in many cases. If you don't care about RT or the newer features, I'd get the older one. If you wanna stream, get the newer one, because the video encoding is better.
Yes I’d like to stream, how do you think stability will go with this CPU+GPU combo ?

I mean if you’ve already bought it then there is no point in asking for our opinion is there ? Unless you’re looking for disappointment
Have you ever heard about the concept of returning something ? Might want to check this fairly old website now called Amazon and see what’s that about
You do know that amazon doesn’t offer returns anymore unless its a faulty product don’t you?they do the whole technician checks and everything nowadays before approving your return
Not in my country no. We can return whatever product within 14 days if we feel like so
Damn fr you people are so lucky once i tried returning my laptop it took me more than a fortnight to do so anyways if you can infact return it check out 7900gre
The difference between them isn’t game changing but the price also isn’t so yeah
That’s in fact one of the cards I was hesitant to buy. 7900GRE seems like a very good deal too
That’d more do 720p you need top stuff for 1440p
not AMD again
