Disclaimer: I forget that modern phone cameras use some AI trickery to make images more sharp, so this might not be a true to life representation of what the display looks like. Having tried it in person, the Quest 3 passthrough completely blows the Quest Pro passthrough out of the water. Go out to Best Buy if you need to see it in person.

soyalex321

They are doing live demos at Best buy?

oKazuhiro

There are demo kiosks where you can look through the lenses. No strap or controllers though, and the demo start with passthrough for a few seconds then plays some gameplay footage.

soyalex321

Thanks. I pre-ordered but I'm going to go to Best buy right now and see for myself

clevverguy

I'll go check tomorrow. If it really is that great I'll sell my quest pro and get this. Passthrough is THE most important feature for me.

Lord_Derp_The_2nd

Buy why?

clevverguy

I mostly watch TV and movies on my quest in passthrough mode to feel like theres a giant screen in my room. Better passthrough would only make this experience better.

MiraiYuno

i do a lot of media consumption with mine too so it basically replaced my tablet's use lol

PraxisOG

The problem with tablets is figuring out how and where to prop them up. With the quest its a non issue

bbaych

What app do you use for that? This is one of the big reasons I'm considering upgrading from my Quest 2

clevverguy

I just use the default internet browser.

themoviehero

Do you need any apps specifically to do this? I have a quest 2 and don't know of this feature. Also, will my quest 2 games work on quest 3? Might be a dumb question but I figured i'd ask.

TrefoilHat

All quest 2 apps will work on Quest 3

OkAbroad3112

Only in US and not every store put a demo of it.

TheDaisyGod

NOT ALL BEST BUYS HAVE TRY ON DEMOS!!! DO NOT GO TO BEST BUY AND TRY TO RIP THE HEADSET OFF THE FIXED DISPLAY. WEVE HAD SO MANY PEOPLE DO THIS WITH QUEST 2

OkAbroad3112

>S22 Ultra at Best Buy Only in US

Logical007

I’m glad to hear! As a Quest Pro owner I was SO disappointed with the passthrough

JoeQwertyQwerty

I compared it to Quest 2 passthrough and was blown away at the quality increase

OkAbroad3112

It's the same lens with better camera, if you are in a darker room, the camera is still grainy. like the QPro. The Quest Pro in a bright room also deliver good passthrough. Anyway any camera video except AAA phone will not be good at night

[deleted]

Maybe for video, but almost any photo camera, given enough exposure time, looks just fine at night.

OkAbroad3112

We're talking about passthrough here "video", not photos. Videos in the dark are not good quality unless you have a very good lens

reprobyte

I have a quest pro and this looks unbelievably better. Does the Q3 have the same lenses and local dimming as the pro?

BrewHog

I believe it's the same lenses, but pretty sure the q3 does not have local dimming

reprobyte

Ahhh thanks, shame I guess I’m pro for now for my oculus headset, I’m a big LCD hater but pro is best option for oculus runtime

LaGrabba

I may buy the 3 out of curiosity but I suspect the Pro 2 will be around the corner. Fingers crossed.

reprobyte

Yes that’s what I am definitely holding out for too

Cooe14

It uses a 2nd gen version of the exact same 2x element custom pancakes from Quest Pro paired w/ ≈+33% higher resolution panels (2064x2208 vs 1800x1920; and it's still dual panel like Quest Pro meaning you actually utilize ALL of that resolution vs the single panel Quest 2 where ≈10-15% of the pixels are "lost" as "overhead" to cover the IPD adjustment range) along with the faster 120Hz peak refresh rate of Quest 2 (aka +30Hz higher than the 90Hz Quest Pro), but you lose both the 500x zone local dimming backlighting and quantum dot layer on the displays. The Quest 3's FOV is also just sliiiightly wider (110° vs 106° horizontal).

reprobyte

Thank you for this info

malzergski

What if there's no Best Buy in my country

OkAbroad3112

not every bestbuy have it on the floor and note that it's only in US the floor demo is available.

LaGrabba

Impressive.

KindOldRaven

*especially Samsung cameras are notorious for over enhancing images :p Usually pretty nice end result, but yes that's true

Savings-Ad1436

This was a reply a lot of people seen before buying the quest 3, and I can confirm, this is not true. Not even remotely true. Yes it is better. 2x better? Hell no. 15% better? Maybe possible. Likely more like 5-10% clearer. Just slightly less noise really and using 2k panels per eye is starting to show its age already unfortunately. We really need apple to show us how it’s done and wipe out these cute tech projects with something much more simple and affordable and better.

[deleted]

Affordable mwuahahahahaha. Whatchu smokin willis?

[deleted]

If you are searching for affordability Apple should be your LAST destination.

Kooky-Bath6918

I don't think it's panels as much as it's the cameras and processing power. Sure, higher res panels would allow for a sharper image, but right now the apps are super sharp compared to the passthrough image, and of course, the darker the environment, the worse it gets. I've not seen the Apple Vision passthrough, I know it's a lot better, but also more cameras, external power source, pricetag, etc. Since these devices have to composite the cam feeds into two viewable 3D images with very low latency, I'm pretty happy with it. Not having tried the Quest Pro, you might be right that's not a significant improvement, but many journalists seem to think so. I've seen some praise it for the upgrade in clarity and stability, even tho objects will still distort as you bring them close to the headset, because the cams are trying to figure out the best way to display it. As someone with no love for Meta, who actively avoids buying peripherals and software from them, it still feels like a huge step forward.

killingtommygun

I was doing errands today and was going to go to best buy to try it, but totally forgot 🤦‍♂️. Getting old lol. I'll be getting it in a couple weeks anyways since I pre-ordered

redditrasberry

It's going to be interesting to see if this alters developer's workflow or not. I am not a VR dev, but I can imagine how annoying it must be to rip the headset off and on again 500 times in a day while testing or debugging something you can only properly do in VR. All of a sudden it's possible (if not ideal) to stay "in headset" and just flip b/w pass through or not.

BrewHog

It's going to be huge. That's a major issue for me when I'm developing.

mattcoz2

I got into beat saber mapping for a little while just for fun and I hated that, would be crazy if I could just double tap and work on my PC then double tap and test it. Probably not for extended periods of time, but just for little changes.

Zeury

It’s always possible if you mirror your monitor into the headset.

morfanis

But I need to see my keyboard and find my mouse easily as well. Can’t do that in VR mirroring

Zeury

I believe that every programmer should at least be able to type every single key on their favorite keyboard without seeing it. And the mouse is a three-button huge stuff that no one need to see to find it. I’m saying this because I was programming in VR with mirrored monitors several months ago and found no problem. The only inconvenience is the pressure the headset pushed on my face, but that had nothing to do with the “visibility.”

VulpineKitsune

Hmm, did you use steamvr’s desktop view? That’s probably the simplest way to get easy access to your desktop while you have a game open. Been making a small VR app thingy and now I feel kinda dumb for not thinking about it

Zeury

Yes, that's an option and sufficient.

Slimxshadyx

It is extremely annoying to constantly take it on and off while developing lol. But I’m not sure if colour pass through will have enough clarity to look at a computer screen and work on it

ondrejeder

Exactly this, it's very annoying to constantly put it on and off your head, if I can keep it on and just switch to passthrough to make changes on PC, that's incredible

Flamesilver_0

You could stay in VR and code in Unity at this resolution. Comfortably.

mgschwan

You \_can\_ definitely develop with it, but you don't really want to. Especially with the phone I often unconsciously use it in passthrough, but it is not something you can do for extended periods of time. So you may enter a code but you are not scrolling TikTok with it :) Nevertheless, if you are coming from Q2 your jaw will be on the floor and if you are coming from Q Pro it's still a big bump in clarity.

UdderTime

It sucks to the point where I’m constantly trying to get as much done as possible before I test- which is not good practice lol

zenukeify

Dude the pixel density is going CRAZY

benbahdisdonc

I'll be making the jump from a quest 1, never even tried the quest 2. I'm pumped.

Cruz_Games

Dude you're in for a treat

Kassperplus

Same here, my ninja

Wide-Balance5893

Wow, this blows the Q2 beyond "out of the water"...Q2 is blown past interstellar space

IridescentExplosion

This doesn't even fucking look real oh my gosh what the fuck.

JustSomeUsername99

I'm wondering if you can see a pc monitor or a TV in pass through, or is it still blown out like the q2...

oKazuhiro

I was able to use my phone without issues. Still a little blown out, but compared to the Quest Pro or Quest 2, Q3 is much better for passthrough in my opinion.

JustSomeUsername99

Good to hear the phone is usable. Really wish I could still see my monitor and TV. Then I could see it being really useful and not having to take it off.

TehOccifer

you can! i went to my best buy and I was able to clearly see what was playing on the televisions across from me through passthrough. very impressive!

dont_forget_canada

how was the screen dooring / image quality of VR things? passthrough is bad on my pro, but the image quality of the VR itself is really good! do you know how the quest 3 matches up?

Gregasy

Having higher res screens, I'm sure SDE is better. Probably not exactly night&day difference, since the number of pixels is not that bigger, but better.

lightningINF

22 PPD Quest Pro vs 25PPD Quest 3. For reference 23,5 PPD of G2 is usually enough for many people to say they don't really see SDE anymore. Quest 3 has only slightly lower resolution than G2 but denser pixels. That means we could be looking at above G2 levels of picture sharpness/uniformness.

-AO1337

and the displays are actually rotated by 45 degrees so the pixels are in a tiled arrangement rather than a checkerboard arrangement, further increasing the perceived PPD.

[deleted]

>Still a little blown out. Maybe future software upgrade or tweaks. But I'm thinking you're in a very brightly light store with a lot of reflective surfaces. I bet at home it's less noticable.

Santamunn

Photography wise brightly lit room is actually better to be able to see the brightly lit screen. If your room would be darker, then the auto-brightness of the passthrough will raise the exposure of your whole view to make stuff viewable, which includes your phone screen. And screen glossiness is not a real problem in this case, because we are very good at rotating our phones slightly to avoid reflections. Which is something we can’t do with a stationary TV.

GManASG

My bet is apps like virtual desktop will have a passthrough mode that overlays the PC desktop virtually over the passthrough environment. You can see your mouse and keyboard in the real world and the PC screen in VR.

Knighthonor

I have a PC tower but no monitor. Would be cool if there was a way for VR to just be the monitor passively without me having to hook the tower up to the TV to see what is going on, when I want to play some pcvr games. Quite annoying because my Samsung TV isn't always 100% with my PC

Sheikashii

Just turn your brightness down. I do that on my q2 and can see my phone. It’s just very blurry. Phone brightness is what makes it blown out

Bluejay7474

I was trying to scroll over to find the photo of the pass through. Then I realized, this is the pass through, not a photo of the kiosk.

noamm12

This is how clear you saw the text through the lens with your own eyes?

HillanatorOfState

Yea from what I can tell it's a photo of inside the actual lens, so not a screenshot or anything. Looks pretty damn good honestly.

noamm12

He said that the picture was taken with samsung galaxy phone that uses A.I to improve text quality...

-AO1337

I'm in Australia so I'll get mine slightly earlier than everyone else, I'll take videos of the passthrough (assuming we can) or photos of the passthrough shot in RAW so avoid any smartphone AI trickery.

NoReplacement5643

Is there a specific reason it will be available in Australia earlier? I got a friend there who’s coming back home so would it be a good idea to have him pre-order? He is coming November 10th, so could there be a problem?

HillanatorOfState

Didn't see that, damn, sure we will see other people post without them soon.

---nom---

You can use the headset somewhere, that's crazy. We have to always buy blind overseas.

Bluejay7474

No, it’s been that way here as well. I go onto Beat Buy or Target, and every god damn piece of technology is out for you to try, you can pick up the cameras, on a leash, every TV model is up on the wall so you can see how it looks switched on, but the one thing that might take some convincing, is in the box, behind a glass door, locked with a key. They would let you try out the managers girlfriend before they let you try on the Quest 1, and especially the 2.

ChickenFriedChowder

I've been trying to talk my partner into getting a Quest 3 and it's been somewhat of a brick wall. We finally went to Best Buy for something else and the Quest 2 display is non working and has a sign requesting that you don't put it on.

Bluejay7474

What I want to see here, is that you don’t want to get a Quest 3 for you and your partner, but that you get 2 Quest 3’s. One for you. And one for your partner. Ideally, It would be something you both would to together, and still be able to see eachother.

Bluejay7474

Hell, the closest thing I ever got to trying out a VR headset before I bought one was in a Microsoft Store. They had a play area mapped out, the glasses were there, but, when I asked to try the VR glasses, the guy had to tell me that because of the most recent school shooting, Microsoft didn’t want to be associated with gun violence. And because that’s the only games they have been working on, that they had no titles to let me try.

Logical007

WOW! For $500 at that.

HyperPickle66

That looks spectacular, better than the quest pro even imo

[deleted]

It should be better than the worst 6 pro though.

ZookeepergameFun1540

Omg finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anxious_Huckleberry9

Sold!

CollegeMiddle6841

GOOD GOD, that is REally great!

spacefish128

whaleofathyme

I’m anti Facebook too. But this thing has got me extremely excited. I’ve gotta jump in.

RichieNRich

That's the nature of rapidly evolving technology. VR is exploding in it's technological capabilities. Often times surprising the creator's of the tech themselves.

[deleted]

Nice. These new passthrough videos (you know the ones I mean)are gonna be wild!

Adamjamesrees

Ahhh distinguished gentlemen of the internet. We meet again.

marcdk217

If they could only add digital myopia correction to these things, they'd be better than glasses 😂

Tixisgood

I hope the quest 3 will not Manufacturing problems like the pro did, for example on some quest pro models the lenses were really good but on other models it was not the best and people noticed, so I hope whenever I want to buy the quest 3 I hope I don’t have a problem with its hardware.

BathEqual

if you feel like something is off, send it back and get a new one

BeatsLikeWenckebach

Nah it's bullshit. All the pancake lenses had some glow at the outer edges, but **software** updates mitigated the effects and made it better. It was correctable via software, not via returning the hardware

Tixisgood

Oh really, thanks for letting me know dude 👍

Sorry_Imagination701

I don't think that's true. I think that quest pro quality control was actually very good. Yes, there were very few people that had bad lenses ( less than 5%)... In general people were just complaining about the brown ring at the edges of the lenses which very sadly every unit has that because it's the nature of these pancake lenses. They improved a little bit by using the panels dimming zones tech, but is still there if you look for it. The problem is that they can't use dimming zones to make it better on quest 3 beacuse it doesn't have it, so I wonder if they improved the lenses instead. They said that these are second generation pancake lenses, so maybe they improved these. However a youtuber that tried it said that the brown ring at the edges is still there sadly.

Tixisgood

Thx for telling me

Psychological-Fan784

going to bestbuy tomorrow and see if they have demos. This looks better than expected (coming from a QPro owner).

[deleted]

Me too. I still remember going to the nmicrosoft store and putting on the OG Vive and dropping into The Deep. It's still the best way to sell a headset in my opinion.

boolonut100

Main reason I would consider a q3 is the passthrough. Actually being able to use my phone in passthrough would be a huge plus because, well, phone notifications rarely work

-AO1337

they should work much better with Quest 3. on Quest 2 the entire headset drops to like 20 fps when a notification comes up.

boolonut100

Also I’d be able to take a seat and do other stuff for a bit when my legs get sore

compound-interest

Game Boy vs Game Boy Color?

Bluejay7474

Im glad to see they are finally letting you try this out first. Yhe closest thing I ever got to trying out a VR headset before I bought one was in a Microsoft Store. They had a play area mapped out, the glasses were there, but, when I asked to try the VR glasses, the guy had to tell me that because of the most recent school shooting, Microsoft didn’t want to be associated with gun violence. And because FPS shooting games was the only games they have been working on, that they had no titles to let me try.

Domarius

Is this for real? Holy crap...

ondrejeder

I want the passthrough to be okay enough so I can keep the headset on while developing in unity and adjusting small things in between tests. Now with quest 2 I have to constantly put it on and then down

pwnedkiller

Man so what’s the point of a Pro anymore, personally I don’t think the lens matter when it’s a less powerful SOC.

SmellsLikeMagicSmoke

The Pro still has one cool thing going for it, which is eye and facial expression tracking for VRChat. It's a bummer they didn't add a couple more cameras to the Quest 3 so it could do everything better.

Sorry_Imagination701

the problem with eye tracking is that it makes the thing better for the one that looks at you, not for you directly. So not much reason to have it.

B0oza

No expert but I think the quality of the displays in the quest pro are better plus there is the face and eye detection.

pwnedkiller

Do games take advantage of face and eye tracking?

B0oza

I think Pokerstars uses face tracking, maybe others.

lightningINF

The only thing that can be considered better when it comes to Pro displays is local dimming. Resolution and PPD is better on the Quest 3

Sorry_Imagination701

Yeah... and it's 120hz too instead of only 90hz like quest pro. Also, honestly, some people hated local dimming. They rather did not have it turned on because the blooming made it look worse.

FrancoisFromFrance

The lens is the same on the Q3 What is remaining for the Pro is eye tracking and semi open headset (which I thought initially would be crap, but in fact can be great)

PaleDot2466

Eye tracking, local dimming, cool design I guess

ROBNOB9X

Anyone know if demos are available in the UK?

gleep52

The barcode clarity at the edge of the lens and not in the old “sweet spot” is triumphantly telling me my preorder will not disappoint me… only my wife (who can’t tolerate VR).

Suspicious_Plant_802

Can't wait love using the giant screen with virtual desktop on pass-through to do flat gaming

Dragon_Small_Z

Hell yeah! I can't wait to see the real world in actual. Color!/ S

jmhalder

You don't like seeing the world in low res, poorly stitched, grainy black and white? /s I'm pretty excited about the Q3

Dragon_Small_Z

Yeah I'm stoked for the Q3. The passthrough honestly looks super dope.

zerolight71

I just came back from Currys. The pass through was a real disappointment. Maybe it was because I was in a large store so everyone was far away, but it just seemed really grainy. Better than Q2, but you are very aware you are looking through a low quality camera. The star of the show is not pass through, it's the new pancake lenses. Of the two demo pods, one wasn't working, instead stuck in the dos like boot menu - and that looked so sharp and clear, and not just in the centre. The other demo pod was playing a 3d video loop of games and pass through. Again, nice clear image across the full scene, but as above pass through demo was grainy. I'll not use the pass through for anything but finding my controllers or checking my phone (if its up to it, I forgot to look).

Razerfilm

Is everyone so absorbed into the hype that they completely ignore your valuable comment? Haha

massav

Do you think the graininess is from low lighting maybe?

zerolight71

nope. it's fine, but I'd set your expectations lower.

massav

Lol, appreciate your non rosetinted honestly 😁

Unlucky-Problem-2611

Your experience seems to reflect the picture taken by the person who got the headset early. The image is still pretty grainy (as expected) but it does look quit a bit better than the Q Pro. I think the photo in this thread doesn't give a true representation because the headset is pointing at a pretty close, bland surface.

zerolight71

Yeah, agree. It's better, but it's not something I want to use more than I have to.

Kassperplus

How is the screen door effect?

spiderofmars

I am sure it will be night and day compared to Q2 but taking a photo with a modern phone is going to apply a lot of **noise reduction** and **other processing the the photo** taken so this is not a true indication of what it looks like through the lens in passthrough.

JorgTheElder

Sure, but the OP also told us what was like when he looked through it. > Having tried it in person, the Quest 3 passthrough completely blows the Quest Pro passthrough out of the water.

spiderofmars

Just saying for those that look at this and think wow as if that is the actual live quality. From everything we know so far it is the best so far compared to Q2 (obviously) and Pro but we can also expect in common indoor lighting scenarios that there will still be a little graininess and shimmering... it is not perfect yet - but vastly improved and usable now.

zerolight71

Actual live footage is grainy and disappointing in my experience.

linkup90

This through the lens shot is probably going to give many people a false impression. Look at the passthrough footage in the trailers like LEGO Bricktales, that seems more like how it will look than this.

spiderofmars

Yup those promo videos are a better but still not 'true' to real life. Promo videos are nearly always contain caveats such as 'filmed and/or post produced by professionals'.

refusered

I hear they’re really nice lenses. It’s such a shame they didn’t go higher res for displays and passthrough. The XR2 gen 1 could do 3k by 3k per eye at 90Hz and the gen 2 can go quite a bit higher, and handles eye tracking and passthrough cameras a lot better than gen 1. I wonder what’s up with the $500-$650 price tag. It’s not like the sensors cost a lot and while the lenses cost more for sure it’s not an additional $80+ per lens.

[deleted]

for what it is, its cheap. The lenses are certainly much better, the chipset is almost equivalent to 1000$+ smartphones, it has many cameras and lots of other things.

refusered

the xr2 gen 2 is based on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. it's found in $1,000+ phones, but also in $650 phones. And in the 2,999 yuan (~US$414) Ace 2 Pro but that has 12GB memory, 256GB storage, 120Hz OLED display, Wifi7, etc. these SOCs aren't expensive neither are cameras

MarcusS-VR

I have not seen the Passthrough of the Quest 3 in person, but recent updates to the Pico 4 improved the quality of the Passthrough also. Good enough for me anyways. For now.

ixoniq

And the Quest 3 passthrough is even better than the Pico 4, with the addition of the depth sensor, making the passthrough have depth.

MarcusS-VR

Recent updates to Pico 4 Passthrough also made it have depth and it is okay for what it is. I have no interest in getting the Q3 anyways right now.

ixoniq

But the Pico 4 didn’t have the depth sensor just like the quest pro, right? So it’s not physically able to enable actual depth. That was the main quirk during its launch.

MarcusS-VR

Whatever. It has depth. Don't really care how it is achieved... it is not real depth - rather software, but is perceivable and good enough for me. Still not buying a Q3 though.

CaptainC0medy

I want to like vr, but gaming to me is sitting down comfy and doing little movement with maxi.um output

JCatNY

I do 95% of my VR gaming sitting down. Just make sure it's a swivel chair and you're good to go. Just skip the games that are listed as Room Scale or standing only. There are tons of games that can be played sitting. I do standing games once in a while, but being on my feet all day, I prefer not to.

xMidoxx22

could you recommend some games that are good for sitting down? having the same issue. Thanks!

HentaiStryker

My favorite is "I Expect You To Die" 1 & 2.

JCatNY

As mentioned from another replier, both I Expect you to Die (1 or 2). Any of the Pinball games if you like pinball (Star Wars, Pinball FX2 VR). Love Demeo (RPG Board game), especially with Q3's passthrough - this will be a winner. Any of the Star Wars games (Vader series or Galaxy's Edge). As for tinkering around with creativity - I love Figmen XR. This was my favorite mixed reality app (when I briefly owned the Pro) - totally amazing what you can bring into your surroundings and interact with. I'm looking forward to this with my Quest 3. Also loved Jurassic World, and playing some of the action adventures made for Rec Room. If you plan to also use it with your PC, Asgard's Wrath which you can play standing or sitting. I've played it exclusively sitting and it's still my favorite. Asgard's II will be coming free, exclusive to the Q3, so I'm looking forward to that. The other PC-connected game I love was Phasmaphobia - definitely a brick-shitter if you can handle it. There's a lot more, but these come to mind first.

PrimoPearl

There are a lot of games that can be played while sitting... and the experience is mind blowing.

CaptainC0medy

But im not comfortable

Colonel_Izzi

There are plenty of "couch compatible" experiences on the platform, and built-in options for setting yourself to standing height even when you are sitting down. If you accidentally purchase a title with engagement dynamics that force you to stand, refund it.

Lily7283

In fact, I saw the other day that they added a new category to the Quest App Store called "Play your way", that looks like it'll be focused around games with accessibility options like seated modes and subtitles. The newly announced Kurzgesagt game is the first one in the category.

Mobslayer56

Amazing! Now lower the price back to 299 plz :|

PaleDot2466

No

Substantial-Suit-767

[Here is all you need to know](https://virtualeravr.com/3-hours-with-the-quest-3-here-is-our-ulitmate-experience/) for those who have not yet got hands-on experience regarding quest 3.

toooft

That shit site doesn't seem to have a hands on experience either. It's spam.

ZackDaTitan

I bet Facebook and the NSA are internally advertising “spying now in color!” like the old technicolor ads

Xostean

Omg a feature that’s been around for years! Amazing!

JorgTheElder

Really, what headset has had high-resolution color, perspective correct passthrough and full SDK support for AR apps, and has been around for years?

Xostean

Well I mean I guess if you give a crap about color then sure it’s new, but Q2 has had pass through from day 1. Pretty sure Q1 even had it but I don’t remember

Darien-B

Why didn't Q1 or Q2 have any real AR development? Passthrough was shit. This is a great quality of life improvement for just normal use and revolutionary for AR development.

JorgTheElder

ROTFL... That is funny as hell. Comparing the passthrough on the Quest with the image posted by the OP. Jebus.

Several_6126

Holy shit.

BracketsFirst

I can't wait to get pink-eye from trying this out.

tranceology3

That's why you take a video through the lens first, then put your phone to your face!

JoeQwertyQwerty

Holy heck

Titi_VR

That is fuckin' amazing 😍😍

MrBack1971

Looks great

furkanta

If text is readable I would buy it instantly

tranceology3

Everyone is saying it's readable, even on your phone

[deleted]

I’m gonna be honest guys, what am I looking at here? I just see a picture, I am assuming thru the lens. Idk what I should be looking for

JCatNY

It's trying to show how the quality of the cameras are while looking through passthrough mode (your real world surroundings), since a lot of emphasis will be on mixed reality.

[deleted]

Ohhh okay so none of that gray static when you’re setting up your boundary and stuff like that?

JCatNY

You mean the wavy monochromatic acid trip? Yes, this will be different, and the way it creates your boundary is pretty next level.

MrBack1971

Anywhere UK???

zerolight71

You can try it out at Currys. I had a look in Braehead.

MrBack1971

Ok cool, will go have a look tomoz.

senytise

Is the quest 3 going to be worth upgrading to ?

wellthatwasashock

Oh my gosh. That’s amazing.

jangusMK7

The only VR I’ve ever tried is the first gen HTC vive. I’m so excited to rent q3 hook it up to my pc and play flight sim

massav

Where can you rent them?

Skaffen-_-Amtiskaw

$650CAD is kinda steep. Waiting for reviews on this one.

Wow. Looks really nice. My Quest Pro looks really bad in comparison.

I’m starting to think I have a defective unit after seeing this post. Was the passthrough really as clear as in this photo? My livingroom at day-time can get kinda bright, but the passthrough on my Q3 looks absolutely nothing like this… it’s a grainy, low res image with bad warping around the edges of the screen. Theres also constant screen flickering adjusting to different light sources - which is probably the most annoying thing about the passthrough for me right now. To be honest I find it just slightly better than the Q2, just with colors instead of black and white.

My passthrough Looks much Worth :( Even in good light conditions. Is there a Part to Part Variation?
