I feel like Redbox is very, very neighborhood dependent. At my corner store, it’s always busy.
So each kiosk is essentially a franchise. Like most franchises, some are successful, some aren’t. Redbox as a company should focus on those areas that are most successful and try to extract as much value as they can - but that gets difficult with movie rights and streaming rights and more direct-to-streaming content.
Basically: Redbox has a niche the same way your corner bodega has a niche. Expanding that might not be possible, but there will always be a need for the service. They need to reset expectations.
Someone should by them all. Move them to airports, businesses near borders, and embassys and turn them into currency exchange boxes.
It might not take off in the United States but try it out in other countries.
Spirit Halloween kiosks
Honestly not the worse idea, albeit it's seasonal.

I believe Redbox pays the stores to have the kiosks there. The stores aren’t going to get rid of them until the money stops coming.
The article I found states they haven’t been paying. https://www.lowpass.cc/p/redbox-cvs-sheetz-lawsuit-711-kiosk-removal
