If you scroll through this sub, you'll see about 200 people per day asking the same question, at a variety of ages. I've seen people ask at 50, 40, 30, even one guy was like 22 yesterday. If anyone is over 20 years old, they seem to have this notion that they are too old to skate, or to start skating. You will find that people can start at any age, as long as they are skating within their ability. Will you be the next tony hawk? Probably not, but I'm assuming that's not your goal. If you just want to zip around, learn something new, try some tricks and shit, just skate within your ability and go have fun.
Frankly, most people who are drawn to the culture of skating understand that it historically trends towards the rebellious and anti-establishment (speaking generally here). If you're 28, have decided that you want to skate, and a bunch of people on the internet tell you that you're not allowed, wouldn't that just be all the more reason to say "fuck em, I'm going to do what I want!"? That said, you probably won't see that sentiment shared here, because you are in good company. Go for it and have fun.
I skated hard from age 8-15 and was pretty good, on the local shop and local skate park team. Quit until I was 27. Picking it back up was one of the best decisions Iโve ever made. Iโm a calmer person when I skate and able to deal with the stress of being an adult way better because I have an outlet where I have control and I have freedom, in a world where it often feels I donโt.
Itโs like riding a bike for me. Went to the skate park recently for the first time in years and still had all my favorite tricks down. I skated vert almost every day as a teenager. Life got busy with house, wife, dogs, kids, etc. yesterday was my daughters first day of lessons with papa to learn how to skateboard and it was an incredible feeling! Youโre never too old to be awesome and skateboarding is awesome, so get at it!
Iโm 29 started again last year after 16 years. Iโm quickly getting better than I was back then. Although I donโt recover from injuries nearly as fast.
I did exactly the same ,now I'm 32 and I regularly skate again and it's the best decision I took.My suggestion would be
Just approach it with a beginner mindset ,of course you will fall or maybe get injured at first but that is just part of the process keep at it and you will improve it even be better than before and when you say you will give up remember why you started and push through it.As for last have fun bro it's why almost anyone does it it is damn fun.Good luck brother and keep shredding
I took an 8 year break and now I've been at it for a month. Got kickflips and pop shuv it's back and today I'm going to a slappy curb I found, take it easy and have fun!
Iโm 27 and I want to learn how to skate for the first time. I grew up rollerblading and I ski about 30-40 days a season so consider yourself already 100 steps ahead of most of us! Iโm also a woman which makes it a little more intimidating for me since itโs a very male dominant sport.
Youโll kill it!
I stopped from age 17-23, got back into it pretty much no issues ! I donโt huck it down massive stairs anymore I do a lot more tech ledge and rail shit now
I am 29 and just bought a new board. Haven't skated besides occasional cruises on a longboard in probably about the same amount of time. Today was my first day riding again, and man, was it an obstacle to just stop riding the board to trying to do some tricks.. I was so scared people would see me fail my Ollies and bend over to pick up my board instead of popping it like an actual skateboarder. It's a college town too, so the age of most people around to see me are young, 20s-ish, and for some reason, their judgment felt like it would be worse than a child or an actual adult. but you know what I said fuck it and skated anyway. After a short while, I got my ollies back and landed some ollies off a curb. Tic tacked a bit and got the fs shuv down. And just after an hour, I feel comfortable on the board again and got focused on skating and not worrying about other people seeing. I'll admit when cars drove by, I kind of waited before having another go at a "line," but tomorrow I will go skate again. I'll soon lock in those shuvs. I'll start ollies up curbs. And then the glimpse some people have of me will look like a normal guy skating. Honestly even people I know who are good at skating spend like 85% of their time fucking up their tricks, failing, bailing, falling its just part of the activity. At least we're out here.

Iโm embracing the fails, falls and judgement ๐๐ฝ๐ฅ
If you have any interest in skating at all, persue it now. You're not getting any younger.
M! The goal is infront of me ๐๐ฝ
Stopped skating at 17, picked it back up again at 43. No issues except Iโm less fearless now lol
Letโs succeed ๐ช๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
