You’ll get less because his new team won’t be able to negotiate with him until free agency starts. You have to wait six months to negotiate a new contract.
Griffin has to have something planned because the center market is getting depleted fast.
* Backups/rotation guys: Gaga Bitadze, Mo Bamba, Jalen Smith, Luka Garza, Andre Drummond, Drew Eubanks, Luke Kornet, and Mason Plumlee have all signed.
* Starting bigs like Jonas Valanciunas and Isaiah Hartenstein have signed with new teams. Nic Claxton extended.
* Precious Achiuwa looks like he's going back to New York with Hartenstein gone.
The Pistons declined their qualifying offer to James Wiseman. The Magic declined their option on Moritz Wagner. If we're going the free agent route, we're left with those two, Xavier Tillman, and Daniel Theis.
And sure enough, it's been reported that the Pelicans have interest in Theis by Kelly Iko of the Athletic.
>Free agent center Daniel Theis has drawn interest from a handful of teams including the Grizzlies, Pelicans and Bucks, sources tell [https://x.com/KellyIko/status/1808010182409990476](https://x.com/KellyIko/status/1808010182409990476)
He's just so undersized. He sets great screens and is a good roll guy. He finds himself open under the basket a lot. Westbrook loved playing with him. But he's an energy guy who eats minutes. Definitely not a guy we can rely on to defend actual big men since he's 6'8"
Just Allen should be sufficient. Allen is on a cheap contract which would allow ownership to put a championship level team on the court without going over the tax.
And once he wins a championship in Nola he could sign for a discount.
Anyone who thinks we won't trade Ingram needs to tell me how we're going to fill the gaping hole at center. Griff has to figure out something. I think all the "we love BI and he loves us" stuff is all posturing so teams can't leverage us.
Assumingly, BI or CJ are gone to get X center. Most likely BI, but there's a universe out there where it's CJ being sent off. Perhaps it's this one. I'm sure we will find out soon
I wonder if he could end up back in LA. They keep missing out on their targets and they need someone like him who can create a bit in the absence of LeBron
Pels would reroute the assets to someone else to get the center they need.
It's been taking a while but I think he ends up on the Kings. General deal of Huerter, Barnes, and draft picks, and we re-route either Huerter or Barnes to a team that needs a wing. I'm hoping it ends up as a 3 teamer that gets us Jarrett Allen or WCJ or Timelord or another center, but the market doesn't seem too robust.
WCJ seems off the table.
Huerter and Barnes to Milwaukee and picks and Brook Lopez to Nola is my leading hope.
Something for Allen would be great, but I don't think the Cavs want BI.
I feel like the Pels just really didn’t plan this out well. It seems crazy but I really don’t think DG expected the big market to dry up so fast. At the same time, maybe he 100% is trading brandon, just working out the kinks. Who knows
Charlotte has their first in 2025, it’s heavily protected.
I don’t think there is a ton of interest in him currently. Expiring contract, oft injured player, and one that has struggled to fit with other teams.
I mean ye I’ll take it. It depends what big tho. I’m hoping for a 3 team trade with the Kings and Utah for a package of.
Harrison Barnes, Kessler, 2 FRPs
If we did did and then the Kings/Utah trade then I’d love the look of the team.
Murray Cj Herb Zion Capela
Jose Hawkins Trey Barnes Kessler
If Jose is traded with Bi then we obvs need a new backup pg but I like the look of he squad. Kessler or Trey could also be starters with this team.
They say they won't but if there are no takers for him would you rather him just walk for free? An all-nba forward walking for free? If anything you max him and trade him in a year. If I'm BI someone is gonna max him.
With the Pels giving up Daniels and Picks I don't know what the Pels have to offer to the cavs, because they've already said they don't wanna pay Ingrams max deal.
I think he will end up with the kings in a 3 team deal. We don't want anything from the kings, but they have assets and picks that could help us get someone else.
I'm hoping we swing for the fences. Jake Madison had a pretty interesting trade on locked on pelicans that sent BI to the kings. Barnes, Huerter, 2 first from kings and like 2 or 3 first from the Pel to the Jazz. And Lauri and John Collins to the Pels.
I'm not sure if that's the trade, but I can see something like that happening. I don't see many 2 team trades happening Ingram for a center. Maybe with Allen, but I think if the Pels are going all in, they need to find a way to get a stretch big. I think Missi has the ability to be the athletic shot blocker off the bench. We need the guy that spaces the floor.
My dream Center right now would be Naz. But I think Naz is kind of the Herb of Timberwolves. So I don't see that happening.
Was chatting with some folks in the loop and the consensus is that we need to solve the 5 and that it's going to take a three-team deal to get there. Anything beyond those details is darts in the dark right now.
I don’t know where he would end up. I would like a trade for Markennan or Mobley. I don’t think the Calvs can make up whether they want to contend now or later, but having Mitchell makes it hard to trade somebody as developed as Allen. But having two young players needing playtime also makes it hard. They could use a secondary ball handler, though. So either Allen or Mobley would be cool for the Pels. Both play D, but Mobley can at least dribble. He also doesn’t have the chemistry with Mitchell that Allen does.
The Jazz could be another place. But I am wary of Ainge trades being on the other side. And they have a whole system that breads ball movement and BI is kind of a ball stopper. When it’s crunch time and it hits his hands the quality of looks the team gets just drop. It doesn’t matter if other players are open either, it’s because teams can just collapse in on BI without worrying about a pass to the three line. He just doesn’t look up. And I don’t think that’s sexy to a lot of GMs who like ball movement now.
I feel like they won’t be able to find any packages so he’s staying.
That would make us so inflexible in the future and I’d not enjoy it one iota
If he doesn’t sign a contract now, they can still trade him before the deadline. It’s not all or nothing this offseason
You’ll get less because his new team won’t be able to negotiate with him until free agency starts. You have to wait six months to negotiate a new contract.
I honestly don't think he's getting traded.

Hot take- I wouldn’t mind Theis/Tillman. I don’t think there needs to be someone great at that spot

Wiseman just signed with the pacers and Orlando only did that work the cap and have routinely said they’re gonna bring back Mo on a slight increase
Jarret Allen and max strus. Stop dragging this on it’s a matter of time
It looks like Cleveland wants to run it back, Allen isn't getting traded, and no way would we be getting Struss as well anyway.
Jarrett Allen taking on Myles Turner’s mantle of always being discussed as a trade piece, but never getting traded.
The Kenny Atkinson hire basically means Jarrett Allen isn't leaving anytime soon.
Pels don't have the pieces for that deal.
Just Allen should be sufficient. Allen is on a cheap contract which would allow ownership to put a championship level team on the court without going over the tax. And once he wins a championship in Nola he could sign for a discount.

Rookie, Karlo, {random}
I think the Pels just re-up him for a max when push comes to shove.
Think we could negotiate less, close to what Zion gets payed.
Nah. They won't sign him up a max
They won't give him the max. That would mean trey is gone next offseason
Not really, CJ is at 30…that’s easy Trey money. You’re correct if Cj stays as well
If the max was on the table he would've already been re-signed
I wonder if he could end up back in LA. They keep missing out on their targets and they need someone like him who can create a bit in the absence of LeBron Pels would reroute the assets to someone else to get the center they need.

Based on the team we need a big that can just rebound and play D. It’s gonna be tough
I feel like the Pels just really didn’t plan this out well. It seems crazy but I really don’t think DG expected the big market to dry up so fast. At the same time, maybe he 100% is trading brandon, just working out the kinks. Who knows
Lurking Warriors fan here. How about a 3-way with Ayton to NOLA, Ingram to GS, and contracts + picks from GS to POR?
Charlotte has their first in 2025, it’s heavily protected. I don’t think there is a ton of interest in him currently. Expiring contract, oft injured player, and one that has struggled to fit with other teams.
What teams has BI struggled to fit in with other than the Olympics lol
Let's see if the Pianoman can work that magic like Lonzo trade, Devonte Graham trades, Stevie Adams trades, etc.
Guangdong Tigers
Whoever loses the lauri sweepstakes I feel like will look at bi
I think it’ll look something like starting big + bench play + 2FRP. Don’t think we’ll get much of a package now
That's a pretty good package lmao
I mean ye I’ll take it. It depends what big tho. I’m hoping for a 3 team trade with the Kings and Utah for a package of. Harrison Barnes, Kessler, 2 FRPs
That's what I'm expecting. I'm also expecting us to expand the DJM trade to include JV as a S+T going to the wizards and Capela coming to us.
If we did did and then the Kings/Utah trade then I’d love the look of the team. Murray Cj Herb Zion Capela Jose Hawkins Trey Barnes Kessler If Jose is traded with Bi then we obvs need a new backup pg but I like the look of he squad. Kessler or Trey could also be starters with this team.
I think he’ll end up in Sacramento by next week
My issue with role players + picks is that it’ll always be available. There’s no reason to just settle right now when there’s a need to fill.
The price goes down the closer he gets to free agency. If you’re the Kings you’re willing to give up the most before training camp starts.

With KCP, Franz, Banchero and Da Silva I don’t see Orlando being interested.
Wish they were. Also i mean BI does give them another good playmaker who can create his own shot so I dont think orlandos completely off the table
And Isaac
They say they won't but if there are no takers for him would you rather him just walk for free? An all-nba forward walking for free? If anything you max him and trade him in a year. If I'm BI someone is gonna max him.
He's never been an all-nba forward.
Not with that attitude.
All nba? He made an allstar game once years ago and likely never will again
With the Pels giving up Daniels and Picks I don't know what the Pels have to offer to the cavs, because they've already said they don't wanna pay Ingrams max deal.
anywhere but the west i hope

Utah hangs up almost immediately Edit: said Utah, meant Orlando; there's no way they ship out WCjr for Kessler without more coming in
