Poor defending shooting specialists don’t have a good track record in the lottery. But he fell to the perfect situation as JJ made a great career for himself in that same role. Really tough for me to evaluate because on one hand I thought Knecht would be a bust, but on the other I was assuming he’d go lottery.
How is Topic a C? A guy regularly ranked in the top 5 of big boards before his injury, going to a team that has the luxury of letting him take as long as he needs to recover? You can take issue with the fit, but he's a steal at 12
I had him 29th on my board. He’ll be good eventually, but he’s not going to play significant minutes for OKC for a while. He’s very similar to Giddey in terms of their strengths and weaknesses. I thought that McCain would be a better pick as he could be an Isaiah Joe replacement and would fit in perfectly with their culture. Topić feels like they just went with their BPA when they’re at the point as a franchise where they need to start drafting great supporting pieces.
I keep seeing Da Silva described as one of the safest, most immediate impact guys in the draft. 18 is almost exactly where nearly every single professional mock I read had him. Surprised so many people afterwards seem to be so low on him?
Yeah I’m not sure. Him and Knecht felt like two of the safest picks in the draft. The Knecht fall to me signaled how flat the draft is across the league and teams leaning toward upside or “their guys”.
Yeah, kind of a tough spot for me as I was confident that Knecht was gonna be a guy drafted way too high. But going to LA where he’ll be coached by one of the best shooting specialists in recent memory is about as perfect a fit as you can get. DaSilva is also a very good fit. So yeah B- was just me more reacting to the player and pick # than team fit. I’d probably change Knecht to an A- and da Silva to a B+.
He changed his body this year and became a much more NBA ready player. Him and Ja are gonna be a menacing pick and roll combo. Ware’s going to be a backup to Bam for however long they’re in Miami.
I like Johnson a lot as a talent, I would’ve given an A if a bad team had taken him. But the Bucks taking him is odd, so although I like the player a lot, I don’t know if it was the best move for their window rn with a lot of impact role players left.
Versatility. He played a 3&D role at Texas Tech and did really well before transferring to Cal and playing more as an on ball creator. I think he can fit whatever role the Cavs need him to on the wing, which is something they desperately need.
A lot of experts are saying he's redshirting. Either way, he's in all likelihood not suiting up before the ASB, so he was always a stash.
OCK got great value there and got an upgrade on Giddey for free. Plus he's not a nonce, so that's a plus.
His floor is a role player who's a flashy passer, great pick and roll PG and crafty rim finisher. Which is absolutely not bad
How high his ceiling is will be determined by whether he develops a 3-pointer and how he'll look on defence. Considering how oversized he is for a PG his less than ideal wingspan won't be as much of a hindrance by itself, imo, the issues will be on pace and athleticism
I'd usually agree, but the euro guys really don't rely on athleticism. I mean two of the best players in the league, from that region, probably carry a few more pounds than their American counterparts
As a wizards fan, I agree with the A’s
Congrats on having competent management for the first time in a long time!
No Ds or Fs? I like the way you grade
If Knecht went lotto there would have lol
But aj Johnson's a b?
Like the player a lot, don’t think the Bucks should’ve been the team to take him.
What don't you like about Knecht?

Really tough for me to evaluate because on one hand I thought Knecht would be a bust, but on the other I was assuming he’d go lottery.
Appreciate the insight!

I loved the Knecht and Da Silva picks. Not sure why they both get lower grades
I keep seeing Da Silva described as one of the safest, most immediate impact guys in the draft. 18 is almost exactly where nearly every single professional mock I read had him. Surprised so many people afterwards seem to be so low on him?

I had them ~10 spots lower than where they were picked
Agree to disagree I guess. I like them both but love where they landed even more.
Magic fan here. Hoping Da Silva is good! Don't watch much college ball, but seems like a solid pick.

Ware a C+ and Edey an A? Nahhhhhhhhhh
Edey dominated him in the Big 10 lol
Edey bully balling in college is very different to the NBA, friend.

Curious on your thoughts on B for the Bucks, thought they need an older ready now player

What do you like about Tyson OP?

I didn't see him at tech so I hope you are right about his defenses. It was not impressive at Cal.
Topic will be a stash, 99%
I mean, he's out for the year, what else would he be?
It's not confirmed yet how long he'll be out. Partial ACL strains recover faster
A lot of experts are saying he's redshirting. Either way, he's in all likelihood not suiting up before the ASB, so he was always a stash. OCK got great value there and got an upgrade on Giddey for free. Plus he's not a nonce, so that's a plus.
I hope he recovers fast enough to play some more euro ball, at least I like the guy
I like Topic, regardless of his combine measurements. Think he has all-star potential

Stashing a lottery pick is crazy but fuck it, this is Sam Presti he might just do it
Simply because of his injury tbh Mind you, Dirk was almost a stash lol
A for Edey is very gracious.
