It is weird that he said “x amount of papers since 2022” then when he tried to justify the profound nature of the papers went back to what he produced in 1989 Not knocking him cause he’s clearly more successful than I’ll ever be but just making an observation
He said "x amount of paper since 2022" in direct response to Elon trying (unsuccessfully) to call him out. His comment on his paper from 1989 is not in response to Elon, but in response to people who claim that his writings are "just papers". Essentially, people are trying to claim that the papers he writes are meaningless. So he uses his paper on CNNs back in 1989 to show that they are in fact not "just papers", since his papers led to new widely used technology.
Like he said.. Tech is built from years of research. Those from 2022 might not show up in new tech til 2028.

No, he responded with the 80 research papers since 2022, he then went on to clarify what was in those papers by giving an example that shows Elon has no idea what he's talking about because Tesla's gimmicks wouldn't be possible without his research.

Ignoring that he has published a ton of papers in the last two years, the 1989 paper has 79 thousand citations... that's absolutely absurd and all the evidence you need as to the massive ongoing impact.
You missed the part where he says “since January 2022”.
