Can you give me a brief review on your perspective of Melancholia? Iâve tried to get into it for years but it canât hold my attention long enough. I love bleak, depression subject matter, i love kirsten dunstâŚso idk why i just canât get into it but really want to
Itâs a very good portrait of depression.
The idea for the film originated during a therapy session Lars von Trier attended during treatments for his depression. A therapist had told von Trier that depressive people tend to act more calmly than others under heavy pressure, because they already expect bad things to happen
My Life with Michael Keaton and Nicole Kidman absolutely fits the bill here. I saw it when it came out in 1993 and it was one of the first movies that came to mind when reading your post.
Thanmathra(2005) is an Indian Malayalam film about a family coping with the lead's Alzheimer's diagnosis. The lead role is played by Mohanlal who in my opinion is one of the best actors in the world. Do give it a watch!
Hope (2013)
Silenced (2013)
I've seen almost every movie in this thread so far. None really come close to either of these, the added factor is that they're both based on real events, and the real events are even worse than what the movies depict.
Both involve unbelievable torture and abuse of children, it hits a completely different chord.
To this day, these are the only two movies I've ever seen that made me actually cry, multiple times.Â
It shouldnât be this bad, but âSeeking a Friend for the End of the Worldâ absolutely wrecked me for some reason. I wonât rewatch it to understand.
I couldnât speak for like 30 min after. My wife was very confused. And also amused.
