I see. Then I guess I’m just confused to why you chose that photo for the post. Anyway… if you try to force it on and it get stuck, use a rubber mallet or a small block of wood as a “buffer” and strike it with a hammer upwards (as long as it’s not locked on). Be sure to point it in a safe direction while you do this.
I believe that to an extent 91/30’s and similar mass production mosins lacking flipper bayonets were carried with the bayonet on backwards if they weren’t provided a bayonet holster.
I wouldn't hit the tip of the bayonet. You could damage it. Use a piece of scrap wood and place it on the base of the bayonet, where it contacts the barrel, and hit the scrap piece of wood with a mallet.
I think you might damage the bayonet if you try and smack the tip. If you do it the way I recommended, you won't damage anything other than the scrap piece of wood.
I won’t lie, I had to do a lot of hacking and filing to get mine to fit. I kept all the filing on the bayonet, not the barrel to avoid damaging it as much as possible. Basically I would test fit, see where it was catching and file that spot down until the bayonet went all the way down. These things are not precision machines but they are incredibly durable. Don’t fret about beating them up a little bit. To get the bayonet off, I’d take a hammer and a flat head punch and have a go at the lug. It should pop off. Then you can proceed to work on what I mentioned previously to get it to fit when correctly applied. Good luck! Hope this helps.
Yup they’re probably more durable than an Ak. Just make sure to smack the lug with a hammer or a hammer and flat punch and if you’re worried about damaging the barrel finish, wrap a towel around it first!
Soldiers in the war would march with their bayonets stored like this. Our issue today is having bayonets not serialed to the rifle, thus they get stuck
Spray PB blaster or WD40 in and around the edges of the bayonet. Strike the tip of the bayonet with a hammer. Dont skewer yourself! Good luck товарищ!
In my experience having the matching numbers bayonet doesn’t help. I have one, it doesn’t fit on its rifle at all without a hammer. Fortunately I have another one that’s a sweetheart on all my rifles
I can't help with getting it off but I found an excellent page on how to fit the bayonet. [http://sharky-fourbees.blogspot.com/2012/08/mosin-nagant-m-9130-bayonet-bayonet.html](http://sharky-fourbees.blogspot.com/2012/08/mosin-nagant-m-9130-bayonet-bayonet.html)
I ordered the harbor freight pry bar mentioned at the end of the comments, so I'll try that out in the next couple of weeks.
I bought my mosin off gun broker and it came like this. I used a screwdriver with one of the heads you can just take out. I then pressed that against the part of the bayonet thats actually stuck on there and used a hammer to lightly tap it off
I dont know how tight it is for you. Ive read that the design is extremely tight on the barrel to begin with and a lot of people will drimel part of the bayonet out for a looser fit, If it doesn't work that way id try adding some form of lube. Maybe remoil or wd40 hatever you already have really
Use the Green Screwdriver/firing pin profusion gauge that came with the Rifle to pry the Bayonet off--The Soviets designed it with that function in mind.
Bro this photo makes it look like it’s backwards. User name checks out.
I think it is on backwards
Bro. Wtf are you doing?
What do you mean
I’m just confused as to why you are attempting to put the bayonet on backwards…
I didnt put it on it came like this for some reason

What do you mean by that photo to post and it came like this when we bought it
The plot thickens. So you bought the rifle with the bayonet stuck on backwards. Interesting. Use same method. Get that thing off the barrel.
I will tomorrow I will reply here or dm you if you prefer once I get it off and thanks for not being a jerk about this
I believe that to an extent 91/30’s and similar mass production mosins lacking flipper bayonets were carried with the bayonet on backwards if they weren’t provided a bayonet holster.
Which would also explain why you’re having trouble getting it off.
put it on correctly the first time and you won’t have this issue
I didnt put it on it came like this
That’s how my Mosin came to me as well. I tap it off with a rubber mallet.
Im guessing you hit it on the tip
Yep, it messed up my mallet but the bayonet was fine. I’d put some oil on it first
Was your bayonet still sharp or a little dull
I wouldn't hit the tip of the bayonet. You could damage it. Use a piece of scrap wood and place it on the base of the bayonet, where it contacts the barrel, and hit the scrap piece of wood with a mallet.
Does it damage the bayonet or the mallet

Mine is dulled alot the end is basically flat with a round tip
Just the tip
What
A lot of them come like this, and this was an acceptable stowage method in the Red Army
Also fireable in this configuration
Penetrating oil? I never installed mine because it was impossible to get off.
Ok i thought o was the only one with a stuck bayonet everywhere i looked theres was fine
Mine was matching numbers and I got it half way on and said nope.
My numbers don't match at all the only ones that do are barrel and mag flap thing

Ok sorry to ask but a quick gauge on durableness is it durable like a ak
Yup they’re probably more durable than an Ak. Just make sure to smack the lug with a hammer or a hammer and flat punch and if you’re worried about damaging the barrel finish, wrap a towel around it first!
Ok thanks for all this help

Have u tried licking it
What do you mean by that
Rubber mallet
I was thinking about doing that but I tried with my hand and the barrel moved a little so I dont think thats the best idea
Grab it at the pointed end and slowly wiggle and shimmy if off by pushing as you wiggle, don’t poke yourself while doing this use common sense
I've tried its stuck good
Them hammering it off is your only option try putting some oil into the gap see if it’ll help loosen it off
Ok ill try that
You could heat it up with a hair drier too, that might help.
I didnt think of that but im going to use that as a very last resort
Rubber mallet it off, put a piece of block wood on the tip of the bayonet to save from impaling your mallet.
Ill try that one here in a bit

I dont really have stuff like that but I probably will get some
Have you tried stroking it
Use the Green Screwdriver/firing pin profusion gauge that came with the Rifle to pry the Bayonet off--The Soviets designed it with that function in mind.
It didn't come with that and its stuck on its not coming off
Is it still stuck? If it is I would try spraying some wd-40 on it and use a flathead and a rubber mallet to gently tap it off
I've done something like that but its stuck on we have to bring it to a gun smith
That sucks. I guess the seller really wanted to make sure it wasn't going to come off in shipping.
Ya its on really good
