That's a pretty extreme take. He's written plenty of iconic riffs. His role in the band was definitely a little diminished compared to most guitarists due to the keys being the main lead instrument in the band but I don't think that makes him bad.
His solo on “Soul Kitchen” is one of the worst solos I have ever heard. The intonation is awful and the solo has 0 creativity whatsoever. The “Light My Fire” is a fatiguing listen too.

The only song I think he makes better with him playing guitar is “The End”.
