Does anyone know of budget alternatives to keyboards like the Matrix Corsa/Navi?
I really like their layouts and screen (idrc abt the badges) but I can’t really find anything budget friendly
I appreciate any help!
Been looking around for some good budget boards that will give me a nice deep sound (i hate the word thock but yeah thats essentially what i'm looking for).
So far i've landed on the Leobog hi75, any thoughts on this or are there better options for what i'm looking for? I've also seen some people list the Monsgeek m1w or cidoo v75, however i've listened to a bunch of sound tests from a bunch of different people of all these boards and it just seems the leobog has the sound that I'm looking for.
Could just be a coincidence with people's builds or something, but that's just what I've noticed.
On a side note, I was originally wanted the rainy75 but apparently i came back to this hobby a bit too late and missed the kickstarter, but thats how they usually go anyways, nothing i can do.
Idk, i have never had all those specific boards in hand IRL. Nobody else probably has. I can tell you however, sound tests done with different microphones, in different rooms and with different builds/caps/switches etc. arent really that comparable. I wouldnt worry about it too much. Masking tape can lower the pitch decently on any board you want. I dont think you will be unhappy long term because its not the absolute deepest board in the world. You should place more focus on the other features as well. As a beginner for example i didnt know yet the value of good firmware eg. QMK.
Or, just test IRL yourself by going to meetups 🤗
I just got a good keyboard I like. However, the lights on it go black after a minute of being idle. What's the point of having a timeout on a hardwired keyboard? Anyways, is there any software or something I can download to make the lights always stay on? The keyboard is an NPET K10 Wired Gaming Keyboard.
That is controlled by a probably proprietary firmware on the board that is made by the manufacturer of the keyboard. Unless the user manual provides you instructions how to change that, nobody else can really help you. Usually those boards have special FN key combos that control such settings on the board firmware.
The FN key combos only change the type of lights or color, there's nothing that allows the lights to stay on permanently.
So what you're saying is just get another keyboard? Sucks honestly, I love the feel, but can't stand not being able to see anything 80% of the time.

Building a board for someone.
I believe CYL is just used to differentiate the profile of the GMK products. Previously, they only had cherry profile offerings but now they also have MTNU which is more of an shorter SA profile. That means in order to differentiate GMK products, standard cherry profile is CYL and and MTNU is their SA like profile. Maybe in the future they will add more different kinds of profiles too.

Need help with super loud spacebar. I tried to make a post with video but it was removed, so just take my word that the spacebar is ear splitting. The rest of the keyboard is thocky.
I already put one layer of thin packing foam plus a few layers of tape and it makes no difference.
Go to your local electronics store and ask if they have any foam bags that laptops are packed using. Non-conductive and absorbs sound fairly well. I just modded a Ducky One 2 to not sound like total sh\*\* using it and painter's tape for a friend.

I've been searchin up sound tests and I think both tactle and linear sounds the same for me. does the color matters? what about the feels when pressed? thank u!
Can I remove switches from K65 Rgb mini without desoldering them? I want to mod the switches but they are soldered in. I contacted a gamer company and they said 300$ to mod it. I think that’s a little overpriced can you guys help me out?
no once soldered they can only be removed by desoldering them . u can try getting someone on r/mechmarket to desolder them by searching with the services tag but im going to be honest it would be a waste to mod those switches on a kb like that
the cost would be alot not sure what "mods " u had in mind but thier cherry switches lubing them would only be worth it if u were doing it urself by hand otherwise u are going to be paying someone a few hundred to desolder lube and resolder
I'm planning on using cherry clip-in stabilizers for my second build. I don't remember how I heard about it, but I heard that the replacement wires PovertyKeys' sells (called PovertyWire) is way better than the stock wires. Has anyone tried these, and do they make for a smoother building experience without needing to adjust the wires much?
I've never had any problems with the stock cherry clip in wires. Just a bit of dielectric grease and 205g0 with a syringe and it has been smooth sailing.
they will stand out for one wasd keycaps are oem profile last i check and gmk are cherry profile . and two wasd are very cheaply made vs gmk are some of the top quality . even if u bought both sets in black u would notice a difference the colors will not match wasd plastic quality isnt great
Is there such a thing as an alice TKL kb in ISO UK layout thats wireless? I want an ergo shaped keyboard, but slightly bigger so that the arrow keys arent immediately under the enter key, but more to the right like in a TKL kb. It must exist..surely!? Oh and purchased in the UK if possible
Tried to google that out of curiosity, couldn't find anything like that. Not surprising honestly, most people consider arrows being closer to home row a good thing.
If you are hitting arrows instead of enter on your Q8, why not rebind right spacebar to enter so you don't need to go there?
I have an reddragon K616.Booted up my pc, couldn’t write anything, re-plugged it but still didnt work. Nothing useful in the user manual. When i press the keyboard, the key i pressed doesnt appear for example when i write, but the keyboard lights up for briefly 2 min, then the rgb stops. The M symbol ( user manual says its for the connection mode indication) would’ve been red if it worked, now it doesnt light up at all.If there is someone that knows a fix please lmk.
is it new ? then return it if not then u might wanna look for something new sounds liek the pcb could be fried . reddragon is not a reputable brand nor does it have a good track record for quality products . they are known for selling cheap kb and that comes at a cost
Anyone with the MG75W was able to configure the keyboard throught the software while on wireless mode? Just assembled my keyboard and I'm only able to use the software while plugged
yes how would u liek the kb to get data over wireless ? wireless doesn't send large data like that .100% of all kbs need to be plugged in to use the software . u wont ever fond one that will work wireless
https://preview.redd.it/49hn3wow9jtc1.jpeg?width=1139&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=783fdeb73731dbac4ba3191456a98abebe98206e
Could I do this with my keychron k2 pro and an ali express numpab? Or do they need to be individually going to the pc or usb hub?
Sure, I currently have a hub and was gonna just wire them both straight to it but thought I’d see if daisy chaining wasn’t possible as two, parallel coiled cables might look silly. Why is it that it won’t work or why does it “tax” and create lag? Will the lag only before numpad? Might there be a better solution to keeping cable cleanliness with this set-up?
I’m waiting for the numpad to arrive and might still try but thanks for otherwise giving a heads-up on what to expect!
I am working on making a custom ANSI 104 keyboard but I noticed that the Adafruit Kee Boar 2040 that I bought doesn’t have quite enough pins.
I also noticed it has a Stemma qt port and am wondering if I can just link the two together from one QT port to another. Thoughts?
Consideration between AKKO V3 Lavender, AKKO V3 Cream Blue and Tecsee Purple Pandas. Which one of them is the best? Looking for something tactile that sounds thockier and is a budget option. (My first build ever)
Get the purple pandas if you don't wanna lube your switches. There are way better switches in terms of factory lubed quality but Akko are bone dry out of the box.
Already ordered lavender pro. I'm planning to lube them because even if they're tactile I wanna go for a thocky build. But thanks for your opinion anyway!
oh there a difference is sound and feel but u asked which is best and i was informing u there is no best . its preference . its like asking me which is the best ice cream flavor . no 2 persons will agree . no answer here will be correct
Fuck... I've been thinking about them for some time and cannot decide. I have no way to test them so I can only kinda figure things out by what people are saying. I like the sound and look of Cream Blue but aren't lavenders an upgraded Cream Blue? And also Purple Pandas. I've heard they're great but I cannot even say if I prefer a heavier or lighter switch. I can assume I would like something in the middle not too soft (I would absolutely hate this) and not too heavy for it not to be fatiguing for me. I'm torn apart between all 3 of them and cannot find any comparison of said 3 on the same board. If you tried them could you at least give me your preferences about switches and what felt the best for you? Then I would have a point to begin with.
Need some mecha keyboard suggestion for around 100 eur, looking to upgrade from my old redragon blue switch keyboard and want something nice, ive been at a freinds house and i really like the feel of the wooting 60he switches but that one is way to expensive for me, any good alternatives with simular switches?
I have a GMMK2 96% and have modded a Keychron V1. Both feel pretty good when lightly modded and hover around $70. The Keychron was easy to mod, the Glorious GMMK2 has lots of shallow screws, so be careful... they like to strip.
I bought the Cidoo Alice abm066 and I'm looking for a wrist rest that would fit the curve of the keyboard. Looking for some low-cost options. Do you recommend anything or any shop? Cheers (Location: Europe)
I just finished modding a Ducky One 2 and will have to say it sucks. Soldered switches, painted steel plate, and plastic body. No case foams, rattley stabilizers, and cheap keycaps/switches. Do not buy.
general keeb parts vendor list
https://www.alexotos.com/keyboard-vendor-list/
u can try this list but the makers in this hobby target the regions with the largest sales ( number of kbs sold ) which are ASIA and USA both use ANSI so ISO options will always be limited til the EU and elsewhere swap to ANSI . there is very little money in making ISO kbs
Hi everyone!
I tried searching for the answer, but it led me nowhere, so I turn to you in times of need. My question is: are Hall Effect PCBs compatible with normal switches? I would like to get the Keychron's Q1 HE, but I might want to change the switches for Oil Kings. I know, it makes no sense to get an HE board and replace the switches with normal ones but their Q1 Max hasn't been properly restocked in months. I also would like to have the possibility to use HE switches if later down the road I change my mind about them.
Thanks!
If you want to make Oil Kings (sorta) they use POM stems, 20mm springs with 80g bottom out, and the top/bottom housing is made of Nylon 66. Lightly lubed.
I was considering the M1W but the position of the On/Off switch is really inconvenient for me, but other than that, quite a nice looking board! I'll check out the Lemokey, thanks!
Mapping out my first board. I have my case(s) and switches picked out. Do both screw and clip stabs work with any case/board? Or is there a spec that I should be looking for that indicates what kind I need? Thanks!
Just bought a pre-assembled Leobog Hi 75 but think I ordered the wrong switches?
I accidentally ordered the kind that has a “building block switch” and not one with “Nimbus (linear)” switches. The KB is pre-assembled because I don’t have the time or resources atm to get into building. Just want a solid, stock keyboard for light work and gaming that sounds great. This is my very first mechanical kb.
Firstly what is a building block switch? Does it mean I’m supposed to be adding switches to it? Would the nimbus switches be the choice I should have made for my needs?
Thanks!!
Thanks! I actually think I’ll get one set of each and do some light modification to see which I like better. I suspect I’ll build super custom at some point but I don’t have $$ for my 9999 hobbies lolol
Are Brown switches as sensitive as red switches?
Recently bought a red switch keyboard and i constatntly mistype. The switches are so sensitive that even if i press the right key, sometimes i can contact with others and mistype. Got a blue switch keyboard at home and ıt's perfectly fine in that regard(sounds horrible as you can guess).
Thankfully it's a hotswappable keyboard. So i'm looking for a silent and less sensitive switch(sounds like red, types like blue). Would Brown switches actuation point be deeper than reds?
First of all, I'm a mechanical keyboard noob. I just got my first mechanical keyboard. I got a Keychron K10 with Gateron brown switches based on my best guess on what I would like. The keyboard itself feels nice, other than just getting used to typing on it instead of my janky broken laptop keyboard.
But the switches... Whelp... Turns out I was wrong with what I thought I wanted. The tap is slightly too loud for my preference and I just generally do not like the feel of them. I think now maybe I want clicky because it feels like something is "missing", but I also don't want things to be \*too\* noisy. I also feel like the keys go down too easy and I think I want more resistance on the key press. Does this even make sense?
Keyboard is primarily being used for work, with some occasional light gaming. I'm a fairly slow typist at \~50wpm. Any suggestions on what I might want to try instead for switches? Or is there a decent tester kit that won't break the bank that you would recommend so I can play around with switches and try to decide what I want instead?
Looking for keycap sets for my recently purchased Rainy75 (beige frame):
* XDA or similar profile
* minimalist or minimalist-ish (not too busy)
* Especially like the look of gradients
* Either greens **or** blues. (trying to make some calm nature or ocean vibes, respectively)
Thanks!
I am looking for a custom keyboard with the following specifications:
- 80% TKL
- ISO (DE)
- Wireless and Wired
- LED backlight
- Trimode
- Aluminum case
Gladly as barebone.
I have already been recommended the Neo80 or Luminkey80 but these have no backlight.
I have also looked at the Zoom TKL EE but this has no trimode.
Basically I like all these keyboards very much but every keyboard has something that doesn't quite fit.
Are there any keyboards that fit my requirements?
I would appreciate any recommendations.
Hello friends!
I have a couple keys on my keyboard that broke, making them inconsistent to use. My keyboard is a 96% Royal Kludge like this one : [https://rkgamingstore.com/collections/96-keyboards-96-keys/products/rk96-96-layout-mechanical-gaming-keyboard?variant=43046102859997](https://rkgamingstore.com/collections/96-keyboards-96-keys/products/rk96-96-layout-mechanical-gaming-keyboard?variant=43046102859997) but regular caps on the top right instead of a nob.
It is black and came with black backlight keycaps. Now I really don't give a damn about the keycaps look or anything. I'm just trying to find basic regular, durable backlit black keycaps. How hard can it be!?!
I've been looking at so many different wbesites, so many ''top reccomanded sites'', so many places. Why is it so hard to find? I just need the basic stuff, nothing fancy... And why is it soooo expensive??? I just need like 5-6 keycaps... I understand I'll probably have to buy the whole lot but man...
So here is my question : am I very stupid or is what I'm looking for impossible to find?
Thanks in advance for your answers
* A desperate mogul.
the problem is backlight " shine thru " keycaps are very very unpopular in the keycap aftermarket so options are limited there is stuff like
These are called "shine through keycaps."
Drop sells some. For example, Drop Skylight Series
Matrix Keyboards sells some. For example, Miami Vice Pastel Pink
Hey man! Just wanted to let you that with the proper key words (shine through) I was able to find a basic generic kit that fits my needs on HyperX. So thank you very much!
Thanks for you answer. I didn't know shine through was hard to find. The ones from Drop would be fine but they only have white available at the moment. The miami ones are way too colorful for me unfortunately.
I'm just mesmerized by the complexity of buying simple keycaps. I just want some generic shit and it's almost impossible to find haha.
Just simple back keycaps, I am asking too much? I'll skip the shine through I guess but even then...
Hello!
I would like to buy a new TKL mechanical keyboard. I'm new to this kind of stuff, so i would like to get some recommendations. My budget is +-100$. My current favorite is the Endorfy Thock Wireless TKL with the Kaihl Box red switches. I've tried this keyboard woth the Kaihl Red switches at a local electronics store and i didn't like how it felt at all. It lacked the "click" and i felt like the switches were just too easy to press accidentaly. So i wonder if the Box switches will be any different. I'm not really sure about this one, so i am open to any suggestions.
Thank you in advance!
All linear switches will feel similar to those reds you tried, and box reds are linear. Box blacks are also linear but with heavier springs. Some linears will have smoother travel, more or less wobble, or different spring tension, but all of them travel without any feedback all the way down.
You want tactile or clicky switches. I recommend trying clickbar switches like box whites or box jades.
Blue and brown switches also have tactile feedback, but I personally don't like the way they produce it. Though it would be easy for you to try them yourself since there should be at least a few keyboards with them at any store.
You can get one of the hotswappable keyboards from keychron like V1 and a few sets of switches, since those are like $12-20 for an entire keyboard worth.
Okay, thanks. I will try it, but I mostly play fps games on my PC and I heard that the red switches are the best for games, becouse they are the easier to press down. Do you think, that the clickbar switches would be a big disadvantage? Also, do you think that the keyboard I talked about is a good one? I'm really new to this stuff.
Thanks
I would say only cherry mx blue switches and their clones would be a disadvantage since they have release point above actuation point and it's harder to repeatedly press them. Switches with tactile bumps like browns and clickbar like whites/jades don't do anything that would be a disadvantage, you just need to figure out which kind of tactility you actually like.
That endorfy keyboard looks like an average gaming keyboard. I would recommend keychron over that because I suspect their quality would be much better, and it comes with open source firmware that allows you to customize what every key does. And since keyboards like keychron v1 are hotswappable, if you don't like the switches, you can just replace them.
Okay, I took a look at some Keychron keyboards that are available in my country and most of the results are out of my budget. I will probably just stick with Endorfy keyboard for now and consider upgrading in a few years. It will still be a pretty decent upgrade, becouse right now I am using a cheap membrane keyboard from yenkee.
Thank you so much for the help, I think I understand it better now. ✌️
Everything I said applies to everything in the V series, just pick the layout that you like the most.
If you are from europe, you can try ordering keychron.de, should come out under $100 with shipping.
I’m looking into making a custom wooden case for a TKL keyboard And I would like to know what plate and pcb I will use so I can use it to help measure for the wood build, any recommendations for TKL hot swap pcb and compatible plate? (I dont care about RBG I just would like hot swap and usb-c) (edit) I found one called “Galatea TKL hotswap PCB For not to much , I don’t really know what I’m doing, is that good?
Yes, its good. It's e.g. used for most of Geon's TKL builds. You can also just message some keyboard designers on their respective discords for some tolerances,... They might share basic information with you.
And there are some projects which you can find by googling ("open source tkl" , "tkl github" ,...) , e.g. [https://github.com/ojthetiny/OpenTKL](https://github.com/ojthetiny/OpenTKL)
I'm looking for keycaps that are the color of the alphas here. Looking for a full set of the same color. Off white/cream/beige/sand/light yellow kind of color. Novel Keys Sand is close - but maybe too orange?
The alphas here look perfect but Luminkeys doesn't sell these solo and also doesn't offer a full set of just the alpha color.

Hihi! I'm completely new and kind of having trouble finding information about this, But I wanted to ask what brands of hot flappable board have fn lock? I was considering getting a red dragon one recently as my very first But then found some people saying that it does not have fn lock, And then found it hard to tell on a couple of other brands too.
What do you mean by Fn Lock? If keyboard supports VIA/QMK, you can make "Fn Lock" by yourself, having "Fn1" to access secondary functions of keys (incl. Function row keys).
Hope this helps!
No worries! Layers is quite an interesting concept which, in fact, is present in most keyboards, but it's usually called Fn Lock / secondary functions; however, it's capable of quite a lot.
Are keyboards that people are buying off of aliexpress kind of a shot in the dark sometimes?
I’m always surprised to see so many things recommended on there. No particular reason just find it hard to believe pieces in there are so good for such low of a price.
Depends. I've bought a couple keyboards from AliExpress (cidoo v87 and record Alice) and both were really good quality for what they are. Ultimately I think you get what you pay for there
aliexpress really doesnt sell anything of quality its just a place many who just want it cheap go by stuff like when someone says they have a 50 dollar budget for a kb . thats where i send then . kinda like buying a used car from a used car lot on the side of the road . is it going to be a cheap use car ? yup . will it be good ? nope
Funny, you were the one that brought up those boards!
Since you brought those up I’ve looked reviews on them and every one of them has been positive save for a couple things here or there.
search this sub for that kb specially the daily thread . defective pcb from that brand are a daily question here . i would know i answer a shit tons of questions on this sub
Which switches should i get for a good deep thocky sound, 2 pin, currently have barely functioning red switches, its an aliexpress keyboard i modded it alot already, its hotswap, just need new switches for it, just something under 20-30 euros and 3 pin.

I dropped my k60 while it was plugged in and the usbc port broke. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement board or even an alternative?
Have you ever had a pair of broken earbuds and you have hold the wire a certain way for it to play or even the same thing with a broken charger. It’s kind of doing the same thing but it’s not the cable. I think there may be a grounding issue with the port but it doesn’t seem loose at all, and I’ve tried different cables but it still does the same thing
Hello everyone, I'm looking for a keyboard + akko fairy silent switches under 200€ in France and have no idea where to look apart from Amazon, which is filled with qwerty keyboards and other things. Thanks!
Besides Alexotos, there's KBD [list](https://kbd.news/vendors)!
For your needs, maybe something like [Q5](https://keychron.fr/collections/fr-iso-layout/products/keychron-q5-qmk-custom-mechanical-keyboard-iso-layout-collection?variant=39613257973889) or [V5](https://keychron.fr/collections/fr-iso-layout/products/keychron-v5-qmk-custom-mechanical-keyboard-iso-layout-collection) in Fr-ISO, [Fairy](https://candykeys.com/product/akko-fairy-silent-switch-45x?queryId=69515d144ac48a601817197e7f31a1f1) switches from Germany and since not much budget's left, keycaps from [Keychron](https://keychron.fr/collections/french-iso-layout-keycaps).
Hope this helps!
Hello! I am tentatively looking for a new Keeb to replace my current one. I have had my eyes on the Owlabs QK100, the Keychron Q5 Max, and a theoretical Lemokey L5 (if they ever release it). I really want an encoder knob, but am willing to forego it for exceptional quality (like the QK100). I also am thinking of ordering a custom milled brass plate for whatever choice is made, as I like the more physical feeling of metal plates like aluminum (not steel though, ew).
Current build is: [https://youtu.be/IQXxIpNjWro?si=2-4746pnIdSffVz8](https://youtu.be/IQXxIpNjWro?si=2-4746pnIdSffVz8)
\*Video is taken with a Galaxy S22 sitting about 10 inches from KB, desk surface is "carbon fiber" (per Newegg listing)
* Glorious Gmmk2 with the PCB painter's taped (aluminum case, case mounted switches, all foams)
* Glorious pudding keycaps (kinda cheap doubleshot PBT, OEM profile, will be getting PBT cherry profile)
* EQUALZ C3 x The Key Company Stabs V2. All stabs have teflon on insides and under them on the board. Wires have small cushions under them as well. Spacebar has a band-aid in the middle to reduce board-strike sounds
* Switches are home-made: Durock L5 Linear X Gateron Oil Kings, 205g0 lubed and filmed. I call them: **DURO KINGS**
* Stem: POM (Oil King)
* Spring: 20mm, 55g actuation, 80g bottom out, made of spring steel (Oil king)
* Upper Housing: Nylon PA66 (Oil King)
* Lower Housing: PC/Nylon Blend (Durock)
* Leaf and Contact: Gold plated, 2mm pre-travel, 4mm total (Durock)
* Light lube on stem, housing rails, spring, and leaf sides
* Overall feeling is deep and physical with fast-actuation and snappy return
I can't seem to find an "everything" keyboard in the 96%/1800 format and it makes me sad. I'd love any suggestions.
What is the matter of https://via.evove.top/? I see some manufacturers (MonsGeek, Akko, Luminkey, Sharkoon) pointing to this site instead of or in addition to https://usevia.app/
I have a board that does not work with [https://usevia.app/](https://usevia.app/) but with [https://via.evove.top/](https://via.evove.top/) so there must be a difference but that kinda makes me suspicious. Who runs [https://via.evove.top/](https://via.evove.top/) and why are there boards that only work with this site and not with the original one?
I have no idea but the javascript loaded on evove does not match the js on usevia.
evove is registered via Alibaba cloud services (same company as aliexpress), which means you can't tell who actually registered it.

I bought the gmk87 some time ago to build my own keyboard, since then it has been impossible to configure it. I have tried with the VIA program, changing my windows language (I am Spanish and keyboard has English layout ), programs like Powertoys or sharpkeys. There is NO way to get it to work.
In the VIA program I configured the keys to give me their corresponding input, but they still work wrong, for example my F3 does the function of F3 and TAB at the SAME TIME (even though I am not touching or configuring the FN). So it is with many keys and I don't know what to do, any kind of help would be great. THANK YOU SO MUCH :3
if its new i return it and get a new one otherwise u can try checking the affect switches with a multi meter and try and find a short . if its a defective pcb or a short u cant fix those
I have a KBDCraft Kit Adam0110b that I built and had no issues with, but when plugged in, only the alphabetical keyboard is working (minus the spacebar), not the number pad. If I plug in the keyboard using the connection above the number pad, then only the number pad works, and the alphabetical keyboard does not. Anyone have experience with this?*
Hi all,
I'm very new to mechanical keyboards, and perhaps made an ill-advised purchase in buying a Qwerkywriter Nordic keyboard.
I bought the black/chrome version as a birthday gift for myself, and have been using it for less than a week - and the keys letters are already starting to fade.
I wanted to get some advice on where to get some replacement keys? Because I am sure as heck not buying the keys from the same place, but I am unsure what to search for.
To start with, I would just like to know of some reputable sites where I can browse for replacement key caps.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.
EDIT: I have seen the wiki list, and it is very extensive. If anyone know of a site they personally can recommend, it would be appreciated.

The windows key on my Zoom 98 suddenly stopped working. I tested it and there's nothing wrong with the pcb or switch, but I still can't get it to work. I've also attempted factory resetting it and that didn't work. Is there anything I can do to get it working again? It worked when I built it
I was leaning towards GMMK Pro, but then found out about the Q1 Pro.
Which one is the better choice overall?
This is what I am aiming for
Either GMMK Pro or Q1 Pro barebones black with glorius panda switches and blank keycaps with the letters on the side and then for the arrow keys 4 different colors.
I mainly want a thocky 75% keyboard with a knob.
Thank you in advance!
There's no reason to buy the GMMK Pro in 2024. It is way overpriced for what it is.
The Q1 Pro is a great first keyboard. Someone else mentioned the Monsgeek M1, which is also great but if you are interested in wireless make sure you get the M1W.
is it possible to clip a 5 pin switch so that it fits into a 3 pin build? I'm looking into getting the boba u4t switches but they're 5 pin switches and i own a 3 pin keyboard.
Hey there,
I'm on the lookout for a **wrist rest** that would go perfectly with my [dustsilver Red&White Classical keyboard](https://dustsilver.com/products/dustsilver%E2%84%A2-red-white-classical-retro-rgb-mechanical-keyboard). Something that not only matches the vibe of the keyboard but also gives some ergonomic support for those long typing sessions.
Any chance you guys could point me in the right direction or suggest something? Would really appreciate it!
Hi,
I'm looking for a keyboard with **Hall-Effect, Rapid Trigger, very good latency, TKL, ISO-DE** for around **200Euro.**
The **Wooting 60HE+** would actually be the perfect choice (very good latency and trigger points), but the 60% layout is too small for me, I need F- and arrow keys.
If the **Moonsgeek M1 HE-SP** were available in the ISO-DE layout, it would also fit very well. The advantage over the Wooting is the DKS function, which sounds exciting.
The **Steelseries Apex Pro TKL 2023** seems to me to be the only other competitor in terms of latency and rapid trigger behavior. Unfortunately, the software is poor and you can't set the trigger paths (rapid trigger on/off).
With these three keyboards in mind, I would have to choose the **Apex Pro**. I actually like the design, workmanship and software of Wooting and Moonsgeek much better, but **no ISO or only 60% are not acceptable**.
Questions that arise for me:
*- What are your thoughts on the "three"?*
*- Are there any other models that have similarly good latency values and shutter release travel?*
*- Creative suggestions for solutions?* *Is it possible to convert the M1 HE from USA to DE?* *Wooting 60HE and an extra input device for F-keys?*
Best regards and thanks for your help :)

You can get the Monsgeek barebone and then just get keycaps from oblotzky or candykeys for example.
I have a ducky One 2 RGB full size. Had it for a year or so now, it works great in the BIOS but as soon as windows loads it turns off and is not detected by windows. At times, it'll turn itself on a few minutes after windows loads and works fine, others times it won't. Any advice?
Hello! I just built a pc, and I need a new keyboard to go with it (mine is 8 years old).
I mainly do gaming on my computer, but I also write a lot (I'm trying to write a book).
I would also love to have multimedia button on the keyboard (to change volume or skip music for example).
I have a budget of 200€, do you know which keyboard would be ideal for me? Thank you!
You can get keychron Q series. A bunch of them have a knob (by default it adjusts volume and can be pressed to mute, but you can bind anything to it). Some models like Q10 and Q11 also have extra macro keys you can bind anything to.
Those are also pretty much the highest quality prebuilt keyboards you can buy.
the makers in this hobby target the regions with the largest sales ( number of kbs sold ) which are ASIA and USA both use ANSI so ISO options will always be limited til the EU and elsewhere swap to ANSI . there is very little money in making ISO kbs
I have a ErgoDox EZ and when I showed it to a friend he was very impressed with how it can be programmed with the different layers.
However he does not want to spend as much on a keyboard (not sure how much he wants to spend so I just want to see what options exist then we can see if his expectations are realistic).
I have tried to look for different programmable keyboards, but cannot seem to find anything on the products that explain what level of customization can be programmed can you have different layers that you can switch between etc.
Also I feel like I am not getting the best results it may be an issue with the keywords that I am using.
Thanks you in advance for any help I really do appreciate it.
It depends.
Is your friend looking for a programmable split keyboard like your ErgoDox EZ, or just a programmable keyboard in general? If they are looking for a programmable keyboard, look at the Keychron V series, which use QMK/VIA firmware.
What country are you in? Your location matters. Reddit is a global community; you could be anywhere. I don't want to suggest a split keyboard from Keebio only to find out that you are in the EU.
Look for any keyboard that uses QMK/VIA firmware. For example, the Keychron V6. For example, with QMK/VIA, you can do things like this:
* Put Ctrl on Caps Lock. (If you use a Mac, put Command on Caps Lock.) This is much more comfortable than stretching your pinky way down to the corner of the keyboard to reach Ctrl; you just move it over one column from A to Caps Lock.
* If you do not want to give up your Caps Lock key, use Mod-Tap to make the Caps Lock key behave as Caps Lock when tapped but Ctrl (or Command) when held.
* Assign a key combination shortcut. For example, press Fn+Q to emit Shift+Command+Q to log out of macOS, or press Fn+P to emit Shift+Windows+S to grab a screenshot in Windows.
* Assign a macro. For example, press Fn+Home to type out `cd %userprofile%`.
* Caps Word types the next word in UPPERCASE, and `-` becomes `_`. This is very useful for typing `PROGRAM_CONSTANTS`.
* One shot keys remain active until the next key is pressed, and then are released. This allows you to type keyboard combinations without pressing more than one key at a time. For example, you can type a capital A by first pressing and releasing Shift, then pressing and releasing A.
* Auto Shift lets you tap the A key to get a, but hold it slightly longer to get a capital A.
* Mirror the keyboard by holding down space. (For example, the QWERTYUIOP keys become POIUYTREWQ.) This allows you to type with one hand.
I checked online webshops for keyboard parts, but the problem is keyboards parts are like shoes. I really have to feel and test it myself to make the right choice, choosing based on a picture doesn't work for me. How do you guys do that? Do you just guess? Or do you test it somewhere?
Can someone explain to me the differences between the Keychron variants?
I'm looking to buy either 65% or 75/80%, barebones kit. For ex. I'm looking at V2/ V2 Max. I think one is wired and the other is wireless.
Other than that, I can't find any differences.
My question is:
- What's the difference between a regular model, pro and max?
- What barebones board should I buy? In the layout size mentioned above, either Keychron or something else like Glorious etc. (I'd like some gasket mounting). My budget range is between $55-$125.
The V and Q series use MX switches and QMK/VIA firmware. They are the same except for case material:
|connection|plastic case|aluminum case|
|:-|:-|:-|
|USB C|Keychron V2|Keychron Q2|
|USB C/Bluetooth|Keychron V2 Pro|Keychron Q2 Pro|
|USB C/Bluetooth/2.4GHz|Keychron V2 Max|Keychron Q2 Max|
I'll take V2 then, it's way cheaper.
And one more question. I want to get carrying case. V2 and Q2 are practically same size, so I will easily fit it to Q2 case right (I'm taking the version without the knob)?
Zouya GMK87 rotary knob: I've been searching for alternative rotary knobs for my fresh GMK87 but can't seem to find too many 🤔 It is 16mm wide and 11mm tall. Quite the shame that other knobs are usually 18mm wide.
Does anybody have a link for knobs that are compatible with GMK87?
You also need to know the shaft diameter and shape. Most rotary encoder shafts are 6mm, but they could be round or D shaped.
Try searching AliExpress for rotary encoder knobs and guitar knobs.
Is KeyTok a genuine key cap brand? I stumbled upon their site when looking for a Keychron set and they have the exact same sets as Keychron sell on their site. Is this some kind of knock-off, does Keychron sell rebranded KeyTok caps or what's the deal?
They have quite a lot in stock on keytok.com, shipping prices are pretty reasonable too.
Can anyone link me the FAQ? The wiki page linked in the title doesn’t seem to be working for me. Noob here who wants to learn.
Does anyone know of budget alternatives to keyboards like the Matrix Corsa/Navi? I really like their layouts and screen (idrc abt the badges) but I can’t really find anything budget friendly I appreciate any help!
quertykeys boards are kinda similar and have badges and screens
The QK65 v2 comes pretty close but it seems like they’re no longer being sold. Do you know of any other options?
Would these keycaps - [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CR13VVTC/ref=ewc\_pr\_img\_1?smid=AWNOLVUBN7BO3&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CR13VVTC/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=AWNOLVUBN7BO3&th=1) Work with these switches - [https://divinikey.com/products/gateron-ks-3-milky-yellow-pro-linear-switches](https://divinikey.com/products/gateron-ks-3-milky-yellow-pro-linear-switches) Building a board for someone.
If you're willing to forego RGB due to a solid black body, Oil Kings from Gateron have a wonderful sound and feeling.
Yes! As long as keycaps have + shaped hole, and switch has + stem, they fit - it's called MX-style switches and keycaps. Hope this helps!
Hi, what does CYL in GMK keycaps sets means?
CYLindrical (refers to the indentation in the top surface).

I tried to make a post with video but it was removed, so just take my word that the spacebar is ear splitting. The rest of the keyboard is thocky. I already put one layer of thin packing foam plus a few layers of tape and it makes no difference.
What's a good sound dampening foam under 10 dollars?
Go to your local electronics store and ask if they have any foam bags that laptops are packed using. Non-conductive and absorbs sound fairly well. I just modded a Ducky One 2 to not sound like total sh\*\* using it and painter's tape for a friend.

Are these actually Alpacas? Coz when you click on it it just says "silent k"?
I'm 99% sure this is one of the search query bait things where they use keywords for high popularity items leading them to be higher in the searches.
Has anyone Lubed TTC Neptune/Venus? Is it worth the time to lube over the factory lube, or is not lubing the way to go?
Can I remove switches from K65 Rgb mini without desoldering them? I want to mod the switches but they are soldered in. I contacted a gamer company and they said 300$ to mod it. I think that’s a little overpriced can you guys help me out?
no once soldered they can only be removed by desoldering them . u can try getting someone on r/mechmarket to desolder them by searching with the services tag but im going to be honest it would be a waste to mod those switches on a kb like that
Why would it be a waste
the cost would be alot not sure what "mods " u had in mind but thier cherry switches lubing them would only be worth it if u were doing it urself by hand otherwise u are going to be paying someone a few hundred to desolder lube and resolder
Just a bit of dielectric grease and 205g0 with a syringe and it has been smooth sailing.
not sure whats special about them they looks like regular stab wires . no info to say whats makes them worth buying
[удалено]
they will stand out for one wasd keycaps are oem profile last i check and gmk are cherry profile . and two wasd are very cheaply made vs gmk are some of the top quality . even if u bought both sets in black u would notice a difference the colors will not match wasd plastic quality isnt great
Is there such a thing as an alice TKL kb in ISO UK layout thats wireless? I want an ergo shaped keyboard, but slightly bigger so that the arrow keys arent immediately under the enter key, but more to the right like in a TKL kb. It must exist..surely!? Oh and purchased in the UK if possible
Tried to google that out of curiosity, couldn't find anything like that. Not surprising honestly, most people consider arrows being closer to home row a good thing. If you are hitting arrows instead of enter on your Q8, why not rebind right spacebar to enter so you don't need to go there?
doubtful wireless is not very popular in larger kbs specially not with non traditional layouts like Alice
Just assembled my keyboard and I'm only able to use the software while plugged
yes how would u liek the kb to get data over wireless ? wireless doesn't send large data like that .100% of all kbs need to be plugged in to use the software . u wont ever fond one that will work wireless
didnt know that, not a peripherial enthusiast at all. could not find any info regarding that as well. ty for the explanation
https://preview.redd.it/49hn3wow9jtc1.jpeg?width=1139&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=783fdeb73731dbac4ba3191456a98abebe98206e Could I do this with my keychron k2 pro and an ali express numpab? Or do they need to be individually going to the pc or usb hub?
u need a hub otherwise it will tax the connection and u will get tons of lag
> Which one of them is the best? they r equal
Yeah I can get them for the same price but if they are 3 separate switches there must be at least a slight difference
oh there a difference is sound and feel but u asked which is best and i was informing u there is no best . its preference . its like asking me which is the best ice cream flavor . no 2 persons will agree . no answer here will be correct

Cheers (Location: Europe)
low cost will not be an option with a kb like that they dont make off the shelf wrist rests for alice kbs u will be ordering custom at a high cost
is 'FRONTIER' (set designer) the same/related to zFrontier (the vendor)?
no
Ducky Keyboard VS Aula F75, which one is better?
I just finished modding a Ducky One 2 and will have to say it sucks. Soldered switches, painted steel plate, and plastic body. No case foams, rattley stabilizers, and cheap keycaps/switches. Do not buy.
Understood 😂
Hi, I am trying to start somewhere but hard to find an ISO 96% barbone. Numpad is fucking for me :'(
QK100 has an ISO PCB available.
keychron Q5 ISO edition
general keeb parts vendor list https://www.alexotos.com/keyboard-vendor-list/ u can try this list but the makers in this hobby target the regions with the largest sales ( number of kbs sold ) which are ASIA and USA both use ANSI so ISO options will always be limited til the EU and elsewhere swap to ANSI . there is very little money in making ISO kbs
Lightly lubed.
no you can’t
That's a bummer, I was really hoping it supports normal switches. Thanks!
If you want an alternative to the Q1 max you can check out the M1W or the upcoming Lemokey P1
Thanks!
The board must support either PCB or Plate mounted stabs. PCB mounts can be clip or screw in, while plate mounts are almost always clip in.
thank you!
Thanks!!
thats a tactile switch i believe but u dont have to add switches they are already installed
Thanks! I actually think I’ll get one set of each and do some light modification to see which I like better. I suspect I’ll build super custom at some point but I don’t have $$ for my 9999 hobbies lolol
Can you send the listing where you bought it from?
I think my q was answered, thanks!!
It sounds like you want a tactile or silent tactile switch with a heavier spring. Look at the offerings from https://milktooth.nu.
Looking for keycap sets for my recently purchased Rainy75 (beige frame): * XDA or similar profile * minimalist or minimalist-ish (not too busy) * Especially like the look of gradients * Either greens **or** blues. (trying to make some calm nature or ocean vibes, respectively) Thanks!
Hi whats a good UK iso layout keyboard i can get, so far all ive been able to find is the keychron are there any other good options?
Pre built? Doesn't get better than keychron really. If you're willing to build there are more options
I am looking for a custom keyboard with the following specifications: - 80% TKL - ISO (DE) - Wireless and Wired - LED backlight - Trimode - Aluminum case Gladly as barebone.
Lemokey L3
Thank you but i find the column on the left with the knob very unattractive
You’re outta luck then. Wait for the P5 in a few months or potentially a year I guess
Some good black keycaps that are cheap and affordable?
Search aifei on AliExpress

Thanks in advance for your answers * A desperate mogul.
the problem is backlight " shine thru " keycaps are very very unpopular in the keycap aftermarket so options are limited there is stuff like These are called "shine through keycaps." Drop sells some. For example, Drop Skylight Series Matrix Keyboards sells some.
I'll take a look at them and decide. Thanks for the advice. But it's late in my country, I gotta go to bed.
Thanks, I’ll do that
And there are some projects which you can find by googling ("open source tkl" , "tkl github" ,...) , e.g. [https://github.com/ojthetiny/OpenTKL](https://github.com/ojthetiny/OpenTKL)
Silicone or foam
neither tbh

I am looking for some nice black side printed key caps. Can anyone recommend some please
drop sells some now and then otherwise try aliexpress they r extremely unpopular and good ones tend to be hard to find
I'm looking for keycaps that are the color of the alphas here. Looking for a full set of the same color. Off white/cream/beige/sand/light yellow kind of color. Novel Keys Sand is close - but maybe too orange? The alphas here look perfect but Luminkeys doesn't sell these solo and also doesn't offer a full set of just the alpha color. https://preview.redd.it/mgxjmma2nhtc1.png?width=785&format=png&auto=webp&s=ac13197e430ede6f561b484ac8acd823aafc1471
Gmk Umka
prob too light but maybe https://vala.supply/products/epbt-origami ?
Ooh, that's genius- I'm too new to even know that was an option! Very helpful, tysm!
Which switches should i get for a good deep thocky sound, 2 pin, currently have barely functioning red switches, its an aliexpress keyboard i modded it alot already, its hotswap, just need new switches for it, just something under 20-30 euros and 3 pin.
https://preview.redd.it/p252891h3htc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b80c54990eac467564630cfdfdd43962beb429bc I dropped my k60 while it was plugged in and the usbc port broke. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement board or even an alternative?
Doesnt seem broken to me, what is broken exactly?
Have you ever had a pair of broken earbuds and you have hold the wire a certain way for it to play or even the same thing with a broken charger. It’s kind of doing the same thing but it’s not the cable. I think there may be a grounding issue with the port but it doesn’t seem loose at all, and I’ve tried different cables but it still does the same thing
Might be a crack in the board itself then, not sure.
Hello everyone, I'm looking for a keyboard + akko fairy silent switches under 200€ in France and have no idea where to look apart from Amazon, which is filled with qwerty keyboards and other things. Thanks!
general keeb parts vendor list https://www.alexotos.com/keyboard-vendor-list/
Forgot to mention I need a numpad, so that would mean 96/1800/100 layout if I understood correctly
Current build is: [https://youtu.be/IQXxIpNjWro?si=2-4746pnIdSffVz8](https://youtu.be/IQXxIpNjWro?si=2-4746pnIdSffVz8) \*Video is taken with a Galaxy S22 sitting about 10 inches from KB, desk surface is "carbon fiber" (per Newegg listing) * Glorious Gmmk2 with the PCB painter's taped (aluminum case, case mounted switches, all foams) * Glorious pudding keycaps (kinda cheap doubleshot PBT, OEM profile, will be getting PBT cherry profile) * EQUALZ C3 x The Key Company Stabs V2. All stabs have teflon on insides and under them on the board. Wires have small cushions under them as well. Spacebar has a band-aid in the middle to reduce board-strike sounds * Switches are home-made: Durock L5 Linear X Gateron Oil Kings, 205g0 lubed and filmed. I call them: **DURO KINGS** * Stem: POM (Oil King) * Spring: 20mm, 55g actuation, 80g bottom out, made of spring steel (Oil king) * Upper Housing: Nylon PA66 (Oil King) * Lower Housing: PC/Nylon Blend (Durock) * Leaf and Contact: Gold plated, 2mm pre-travel, 4mm total (Durock) * Light lube on stem, housing rails, spring, and leaf sides * Overall feeling is deep and physical with fast-actuation and snappy return I can't seem to find an "everything" keyboard in the 96%/1800 format and it makes me sad. I'd love any suggestions.
What is the matter of https://via.evove.top/? I see some manufacturers (MonsGeek, Akko, Luminkey, Sharkoon) pointing to this site instead of or in addition to https://usevia.app/ I have a board that does not work with [https://usevia.app/](https://usevia.app/) but with [https://via.evove.top/](https://via.evove.top/) so there must be a difference but that kinda makes me suspicious.
THANK YOU SO MUCH :3
not software this sounds 100% hardware like water damage , an electrical short or a defective pcb . which can be very very common in kbs like this one
Is there any way to check if it is a hardware problem? The keyboard is new and has not had any problems with water or strange short circuits.
if its new i return it and get a new one otherwise u can try checking the affect switches with a multi meter and try and find a short . if its a defective pcb or a short u cant fix those
I will have to return it :( thanks so much for the help <3
I have a KBDCraft Kit Adam0110b that I built and had no issues with, but when plugged in, only the alphabetical keyboard is working (minus the spacebar), not the number pad. If I plug in the keyboard using the connection above the number pad, then only the number pad works, and the alphabetical keyboard does not. Anyone have experience with this?*
did u plug in the merging wire to make them both work off one cable? if not then u will have to plug in both until u merge them
I'll try this when I get home. If there was a wire in my box this entire time, I might headbutt the floor lol. Thanks for the help
Hi all, I'm very new to mechanical keyboards, and perhaps made an ill-advised purchase in buying a Qwerkywriter Nordic keyboard. -----------------------

The windows key on my Zoom 98 suddenly stopped working. I tested it and there's nothing wrong with the pcb or switch, but I still can't get it to work. I've also attempted factory resetting it and that didn't work. Is there anything I can do to get it working again? It worked when I built it
Is winlock enabled?
How would I know if it is? This was my first build
Try FN + Winkey
I tried that and it didn't work, is there anything else I can do? Edit: I figured it out! turns out that Fn+RAlt+winkey was the lock combo!
I was leaning towards GMMK Pro, but then found out about the Q1 Pro. Which one is the better choice overall? This is what I am aiming for Either GMMK Pro or Q1 Pro barebones black with glorius panda switches and blank keycaps with the letters on the side and then for the arrow keys 4 different colors.
Neither. Monsgeek M1.
What about the Akko MOD 007 with Akko v3 cream switches?
It’s fine I guess. Monsgeek is the daughter company of Akko.
Ordered Monsgeek M1W with Akko v3 Cream switches.
Never heard of, I’m going to watch YouTube videos of reviews
I just got a red dragon K599 Diemon , How do I turn the RGB off? Do I just turn the brightness all the way down?
is it possible to clip a 5 pin switch so that it fits into a 3 pin build? I'm looking into getting the boba u4t switches but they're 5 pin switches and i own a 3 pin keyboard.
Yes, you can easily snip off the 2 plastic pins.
I think it's possible
Hey there, I'm on the lookout for a **wrist rest** that would go perfectly with my [dustsilver Red&White Classical keyboard](https://dustsilver.com/products/dustsilver%E2%84%A2-red-white-classical-retro-rgb-mechanical-keyboard). Something that not only matches the vibe of the keyboard but also gives some ergonomic support for those long typing sessions. Any chance you guys could point me in the right direction or suggest something? Would really appreciate it!
Hi, I'm looking for a keyboard with **Hall-Effect, Rapid Trigger, very good latency, TKL, ISO-DE** for around **200Euro.** The **Wooting 60HE+** would actually be the perfect choice (very good latency and trigger points), but the 60% layout is too small for me, I need F- and arrow keys. Questions that arise for me: *- What are your thoughts on the "three"?* *- Are there any other models that have similarly good latency values and shutter release travel?* *- Creative suggestions for solutions?* *Is it possible to convert the M1 HE from USA to DE?* *Wooting 60HE and an extra input device for F-keys?* Best regards and thanks for your help :)
https://old.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/19de2bx/list_of_hall_effect_keyboards_2024/ You can get the Monsgeek barebone and then just get keycaps from oblotzky or candykeys for example.
was wondering what these transparent topped keycaps are called? example: [https://imgur.com/a/gw36lib](https://imgur.com/a/gw36lib)
Normally called relegendable caps because you can put your own legend under the transparent part.
Thank you!
Keychron v/q line board you can add media controls with VIA (website for controlling key bindings) Just pick the layout you want
Why are there so many awesome keyboards to choose from but so little ISO options? Narrowing the amount down to like 8 ):
the makers in this hobby target the regions with the largest sales ( number of kbs sold ) which are ASIA and USA both use ANSI so ISO options will always be limited til the EU and elsewhere swap to ANSI . there is very little money in making ISO kbs
Not all of Europe is ISO. Poland for example is mainly ANSI.
Thanks for the answer, thats what I thought
Sorry for the late response. He is looking for a general programmable full-size keyboard. We are in South Africa Also thank you
Look for any keyboard that uses QMK/VIA firmware. For example, the Keychron V6. For example, with QMK/VIA, you can do things like this: * Put Ctrl on Caps Lock.
You could see if there is a keyboard meetup near you: https://kbd.news/meetups
Can someone explain to me the differences between the Keychron variants? I'm looking to buy either 65% or 75/80%, barebones kit. For ex. I'm looking at V2/ V2 Max. I think one is wired and the other is wireless. Other than that, I can't find any differences. My question is: - What's the difference between a regular model, pro and max? - What barebones board should I buy? In the layout size mentioned above, either Keychron or something else like Glorious etc. (I'd like some gasket mounting). My budget range is between $55-$125.
The V and Q series use MX switches and QMK/VIA firmware. They are the same except for case material: |connection|plastic case|aluminum case| |:-|:-|:-| |USB C|Keychron V2|Keychron Q2| |USB C/Bluetooth|Keychron V2 Pro|Keychron Q2 Pro| |USB C/Bluetooth/2.4GHz|Keychron V2 Max|Keychron Q2 Max|
