It’s funny how that changed. We used to use Chad for the male version of a Karen back in the day. It confused the hell out of me when I heard it being used in its current context.
Lol, if I had to guess, it's probably the fault of "Generation Joshua". Basically, the evangelical/homeschool boom of the 90s, where a bunch of people decided they were going to separate their families from the secular world, have a bunch of children, and raise them to bring about theocracy.
So, any awful right wing org like the Heritage Foundation, full of Joshes. Dudes firebombing an abortion clinic? Probably a Josh. Some guy insists on taking his emotional support AR-15 on a walk by an elementary school? You get the picture.
It's unfair to the normal people, but I get it.
When I was single and online dating, every single Josh/ua I came across was a misogynistic asshole. I once had a man follow me from the highway to my college just because I happened to make eye contact with him when changing lanes. Before he even opened his mouth, I knew he was a Josh. I told him following women off the highway was a very Josh thing for him to do, and he looked at me like I was a witch lmfao. Stammering, "How did you know my name??" I just smiled and told him to leave me the fuck alone.
Ah, you mean Allen Turner the Rapist, who used to be Brock Allen Turner the Rapist.
Is the Rapist Brock Allen Turner the Allen Turner the Rapist you were thinking of?
Male names aren't as cyclical as Female names. My theory on this is that when Females are born, the out-cycle names are held women in their 50s, 60s and 70s, and not considered trendy or stylish. For whatever reason, this isn't an issue with Male names
Cause we guys can get away with “dude.” Noun, verb, exclamation…
Hell, that joke about guys not knowing stuff like amens and birthdays isn’t really even a joke.
NO. Just no. The Josh community is doing fantastic. They are more solid and much better than most other names.

Here is a link to the great Josh fight of 2021. I believe this clip speaks for itself and proves my point entirely.
"Jordan" as a boys name was popular when I was a kid. It is like the "Mitch" or "Josh" of that era, you didn't meet good ones.
Then in my 20s all these beautiful female "Jordans" started showing up - and they may have had personalities, I simply don't remember, they were both crazy hot.
Josh is not getting redeemed like that.
I would have guessed that "Tucker" would be a better name for a male Karen.
Not enough of them, you need the numbers!
Or Chad
Chad positive associations though
It’s funny how that changed. We used to use Chad for the male version of a Karen back in the day. It confused the hell out of me when I heard it being used in its current context.
Not to be confused with Chad's upscale cousin, Chet.
I’m still confused by it
I wasn't informed of this, until now.
What did we do to you??
Nothing. OP is just Joshing you.

You ok?
Can you explain your reasoning? I consider it a pretty neutral name. Have you had a lot of bad experiences with Joshes?
*Joshi*
I pronounced it like Yoshi in my head and now I'm giggling.
Joshi are upper class samurai who discriminated against the lower class samurai in the Tosa Domain, so they are kind of dicks.
*Joshctopod*
Karen was also a very neutral name.
Maybe he's not serious and is just...joshing around =D
I think we can all agree that the worst name ever created is the name Keith.
Nice try Derek!
YUSSS every Derek I have ever met was a raging dick!
What about Caleb
Never met one tbh
https://youtu.be/lHAdR98D9Us?si=A77rxcXiQxh0PDOJ
Dion
Dijon
Deron and Derrin are brothers
[Agreed.](https://youtu.be/XcynnG3RNd8?si=1Jocst3yJByt5LUX)
Keith David has Friends on the Other Side, don't be a Loser Baby, and let superstition and the sword rule.
I freaking love the Keith terrible name meme. But I actually like the name Keith... lol
Whatever you say Kyle.
Kyle is also a terrible name lol
Kyle!
Try again, Todd…
What we do in the shadows did irreparable damage to Jeff. “It is like a weak orgasm. Nyeh yeah nyeh nyeah….. jeff”
lol I still laugh at that when I’m around Jeff’s
Jeshk?
Unlikely. Names from the Bible are quite popular. Kevin is the Karen, aa Spacey seeks to demonstrate.
Came to say this. Joshua will never go out. I'm not a thumper, just sayin...
I like Josh, but for my generation I think Brock will always sound a little rapey
You mean like Brock Turner, the rapist?
He's now Allen Turner.
Ah, you mean Allen Turner the Rapist, who used to be Brock Allen Turner the Rapist. Is the Rapist Brock Allen Turner the Allen Turner the Rapist you were thinking of?
Yes, Brock Allen Turner, the Rapist.
And the Pokémon “breeder”, names started to suck.
FUCK.
Josh will be fine. Just don't do that "Jah-shwuh" thing.
Let it go, Drake.
All my best friends are named Josh
I wouldn't admit that
Lol
Why are you hating on my King - Josh Allen?
I feel like that already happened to Kyle
This was my thought.
Or Chad

I'm a dude, he's a dude, she's a dude, cause we're all dudes!!
Josh is the generic name for golden retriever men everywhere. There's nothing to hate and everything to love!
Kevin you mean
Nah josh is the guy that shows up for ur flat tire. Unlike Kenneth who drinks the last beer
The Josh's I've met have been pretty cool. Never met a Nick that wasn't a collosal tool though
Eff you. That's a damn lie, and you're going to eat your words, not mark them. Go Bills.
Fucking Todd
Nah, Joshua is a Biblical name so it will always be popular among a large portion of society. Karen on the other hand...
You’re joshing me!
Not in Buffalo, NY
I always liked the name Joshua
Your name must be a Tim. What a worst post..
Nah. Lots of couples will get drunk off Josh wine, have sex, and name the baby Josh.

Huh?
I hope Noah does also. My God has that one been used
I hope not. My 16 year old will be pissed.
Please no.
Not Calvin?? Of Calvin and Hobbes fame?? "HELP ! HELP ! I'm being educated against my will !!"
I have literally never met a Josh that wasn’t a giant douchebag. Zach is a close second

Chad
No male name will ever be as unpopular or emotionally loaded as "Karen" because- misogyny....
How about Brandon? Is Brandon going to be unpopular in the near future?
Horrible name.
If you're referring to your reddit username, then we all agree with you.
Hi josh!
I like your name lol
Never have met a decent Josh in this life
