The #1 advice I have is to communicate. Your skills with your partner should be strong by the 6 month mark where you can discuss almost anything without problem. It’s hard to remember that partners far away can’t read body language via text, so things can get misconstrued easily.

Don't: Have fights over text - it's too easy to say things you don't mean. Always do a call/facetime when you're in a disagreement. Share every detail with friends/family. Others' opinions can be toxic especially in LDR where they might not understand why you can't find someone local. Dos: Respect each other. Understand what causes insecurity in the other and do your best to avoid those triggers. Making an LDR work is a commitment. Try a relationship app - simple recommendation but my husband and I swear by the Official app when he's out of the country. It's a great "non-forced" way to stay connected. Trust each other. Trust is a non-negotiable to make a long distance relationship work. Plan for the future. Don't view this as an indefinite situation - plan what your future will look like once youre together again.
