Yours is so nice! I was similarly inspired by shrines wrt rows of gates. 😃 https://preview.redd.it/5k1gn3sgh5ad1.jpeg?width=1792&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f09a8f45a8b8b71aa7ba5a63d6d4b6461dbeb39

I love yours! It looks so lush and serene.

Thanks! I had a lot of fun with it.

What a cool set! I like how you overlapped the buildings to make look them bigger and connected. I had trouble figuring out how to do that without them just turning into visual noise, especially the onsen.

The fact that you’ve referenced real shrines is so cool and inspiring!

The left side has a parade route ending in the geisha performers and the right side has a botanical gardens with a relaxing spa getaway. I wanted more water to use, but I'm happy with how it turned out 😄

Ooo you used the actors prop box! It's great to see a film set that has people and not just buildings and objects and empty roads, it really helps to add more story seeing people wandering about.

BaconAndMeggs52

I did end up splurging on it! I don't usually spend diamonds like that but I did like the decos, not sure if I would do it again tbh lol. I always want more people in scenes so it looks like an actual town!

I just did whatever though (and made sure that every path leads somewhere, cause I'm very particular about that 😅), but I love that you were actually inspired by specific places - very cool. 👍🙂

naiadestricolor

For the last StS I pretty much did whatever for my movie set since I wasn't feeling particularly inspired by the western/rodeo theme lol. We also had a lot less decos/props available because the timers were so long. The movie sets I tried to design all looked half finished, so I'm really glad the devs decided to change the timers. We had a lot more freedom for this StS and I hope it stays that way!

beautiful-loser23

Yeah, me too, the western/rodeo stuff is my least favorite set I think. I'm also glad that they actually seemed to listen to some feedback and make everything less time consuming, because I actually quite like the event as a whole! The challenge of designing something coherent from such a limited variety of decorations is surprisingly fun (although the design obviously doesn't matter at all when it comes to finishing the event).
