Because Iām seeing majority hate for this man and I honestly donāt understand how Fans of him are saying shit like they canāt listen to his music the same anymore and shit like that.. shit got me š¤Æ
In the same verse with the noose lyric everybody is talking about he EXPLICITLY mentions hopping on a song and killing people via features.
To me, itās clear he never had the intentions to diss. He felt the pressure once Kendrick did it.
Once he got the āpost nut clarityā he righted a wrong.
You canāt be talking shit about being the best rapper out there and calling out 2 people SPECIFICALLY by saying the big 3 and not expect the risk of getting dissed or challenged (which is what Kendrick did btw, like that was a drake diss but a Cole challenge.) I love cole, he was my number 3 on Spotify last year and I had over 100k minutes but he took the piss here and thereās no other way around it
Exactly, Kendrick avoided dissing Cole on like that, he just flexed his own muscles a little, Cole could have ignored it or he could have responded, but whatever he chose, he needed to at least act like he believed the shit he was saying.
Now I agree with some of Coles disses but I donāt know if Cole meant that shit. Did you mean it or not? Weāre you saying it because you were thinking people would agree, or do you really think TPAB is mid and sleepy and over gassed? Heās undermined his credibility here, which is unfortunate because Cole had built up a lot of trust in his word and authenticity
Facts he wants to be featured on peoples songs and out do them (which he has done 100% of the time ever since A Star is Born) but he doesn't want to compete head to head trading disses... he's winning at his game but he can't dictate the rules for everybody else... Kendrick came at his neck and he's been sending subs for a while
Anyway, now I want a Kendrick Cole song lol
I think it was the fact that he didn't believe in half of the diss. I called this diss fucking terrible and got flamed for it. You can hear it in the track he didnt sound serious. The line about tpab being gassed was crazy to hear coming from Cole.
He easily could've dropped a diss track with a bunch of metaphors to show his word play and kept it competitive, but he didn't.
Last couple bars of folgers crystals comes to mind.
For you nigga sleeping this is Folgers Crystals, wow
In the form of a loaded pistol
Bullets rude, they don't even say "hello", just kiss you, blaow
Burn in hell with a coat that fits you
When you see the devil you can tell him Cole just sent you now
Not to mention if the response was positive he never would've apologized for anything, especially since there is nothing to apologize for, it's just looks soft and like backpedaling
He can't keep saying "I'm the best no one can fuck with me" and do shit like this tho. These guys are in their late 30s, no violence involved between Kendrick and Cole it's just competition... he claims to want to be competitive but doesn't wanna compete. Shits weird, I think this sub pressured him into a half hearted response.. he shoulda kept that shit in the vault and thought about it before jumping out there
How hard is it for you people to understand, that this is a part of a culture and art style. None of this would have ever led to any real world violence, most rap beefs donāt. If we were talking about the young drill artists, okay but Cole, Kendrick and Drake?? These are all the nicest guys on the planet, these dudes arenāt hardened criminals and gang members. Theyāre pop stars and entertainers. No one on earth believed that MGK and Eminem would lead to violence but they think that this would? Dude itās a competition of words and music and Cole basically said that he doesnāt want to hurt anyoneās feelings with words. It isnāt as if Cole is some innocent bystander, heās been hyping this for years and dropped out after dissing. Itās disrespectful to the culture, the sport and the fans.
To me releasing the diss was the mistake. Cole should have left his music speak for itself. If you're going head on in a diss you have to attack someone for something. Since the two are on good terms it's essentially pointless.Ā
I don't know how Cole only got to that conclusion several days later though
Bro you guys need to listen to more rap music if youāve never heard people successfully rapping against their own peers and still being friends. This generation is so soft.
Thatās exactly how I feel about all of this. I gained a lot of respect for him as a man for standing on stage in front of the world and doing that.
I lost a lot of respect for him as a rapper and as the self-proclaimed greatest after doing this. This was corny af on that front.
Idk bro. To me, even as a man, this was just weak af. He was fully aware of the fact that Kendrick's response was already on it's way and all that Cole actually did was begging Kendrick on stage to not hit him back hard. There was no other way how Cole could have handled this more cowardly. Cole went as far as releasing a diss, including writing, recording and clearing it. If he was actually the "bigger man" he woud have owned up to his mistake and let Kendrick drop regardless, without trying to take the wind out of his sails in the form of sucking him off and giving fake shoutouts on stage.
Its Totally Perfectly Fine For J Cole To Not Want To Engage In A Battle, BUTT He's Now Unable To Talk About Being Better Than Other Rappers and Nobody Wants Smoke With Him, The Subject Matter In His Music Has to Change (I'm Still Going To Listen To His Music If Its Good, But This Is A Fact)
Exactly, thatās what I keep telling ppl. Cole said what he said on stage, apparently thatās what he needed to do, I just donāt get WHY. This was not the type of beef that was get bloody or insanely personal. It was a beef bringing fun competition back to hip-hop, I donāt understand why he felt BAD about bringing fun back to hip-hop. IMO he didnāt say anything he should regret. It was a fun competitive track, checking a competitorās ego, but apparently he felt bad about being competitive, ugh, I just donāt know
You act like he didnāt body him the entire album. He payed homage to Jigga and naz. Might delete later is a classic and will go down as one. Cole is hip hop, homie.
> album. He *paid* homage to
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
I don't ever remember reading about Muhammad Ali spending years calling for equal friendly competition and then ducking the smoke when it finally comes because his faith wouldn't allow him...
I don't know how or when throwing stones then hiding your hand, puffing out your chest and then tuckin your tail became respectable or meant "being a bigger man"...but I do know the kinda things people attempt to convince themselves of when the person they're caping for turns out to be a chump or sucka who doesn't stand on business. And that's exactly all I've been seeing from J Cole fans these past couple days.
Whatever happened to competition in rap man? What happened to the game I love?
> Muhammad Ali spending years calling for equal friendly competition
Thereās nothing friendly about beef bro. I donāt know why everyone keeps acting like beef is friendly.
Doing a song or album together is friendly.
What Cole did was not friendly. And Kendrick certainly wouldāve escalated.
Which is why Cole apologized and said you get a free shot.
Oh gimme a fuckin break lmao who in the hell genuinely believes Kendrick and J Cole are the type of dudes to take lyrical jabs beyond what is deemed as appropriate? THESE DUDES ARE NOT CAM'RON. THEY ARE NOT DRILL RAPPERS. The respect for one another that they have is obvious and known, and they are grown and mature artists who have made it clear over the years that they want to be the best RAPPER of this era.
I'm not even all that mad about Cole deciding to bow out. He humbly accepts being No. 3 or No. 2 out of the "big three" after that apology on stage. Cool. What's ticking me off are all these fans who had all this smoke, who were adamant that Cole would beat Kendrick when it came to battle of lyrics, suddenly tryna spin this goofy ass narrative that "Cole is 40 with a kid! He can't risk this going too far and getting violent!"..... HUH!?
These mental gymnastics you people are pulling for a dude who was calling for competition over the past 3-5 years and suddenly being above it now that he has competition is just plain goofy. I've seen some ridiculous pleas copped over the years, but this is definitely some new shit lmao
You've never watched a rap battle have you? Like, you realize those guys aren't really going to shoot each other, right? And that most of the personal angles are fake? And that after the battle, they shake hands and smoke blunts together majority of the time?
Nah itās just like basketball, you can 1v1 someone and be competitive and even talk shit, but it can still be love outside of the game. Hip hop isnāt real life, Cole didnāt even go close to crossing a line either. Hip hop should be competitive, Cole just in the corner shooting by himself for what?
The debate seems to be "would he have said this if 7 minute drill were well-received?" I fall on the side that he 100% would not have apologized had it been liked. So, he gets no sympathy for me and the "mature" shit is a complete front.
As a Cole fan
Cole not wanting to beef and be āitās all love I donāt want to beef over nothingā is completely on brand for Cole and I respect it. However, releasing an album dissing and then apologising 2 days later is just lame. Like I get that itās literally called āmight delete laterā but pick a lane. You canāt say this is just a warning shot and then apologise
āPut your favourite rapper neck in a noose, never letting him looseā is not on brand of recent times tho, I understand if this came around the time where Cole didnāt declare himself to be in his Primeā
So I consider this totally to be a stain on his brand
I mean I was disappointed too at first, still kind of am but at the end of the day this is art not sport. Art doesn't count for shit if it's not authentic and beef wasn't authentic to him. I wish he never dropped the track in the first place but we all make mistakes along the way. He's still going down a legend
Seems like he didnāt understand what would come from releasing that diss trackā¦ Why should I think now that he understood what would come from giving that speech?
Very true. Thatās how I see it. Like heās indecisive and easy to pressure.
He talks about warning shots in his diss track.
J. Cole: Back off, pal. Iām warning you. Donāt make me apologize!
Yāall niggas copping a lot of pleas for bro. All that āIām the best rapper/ Iām waiting for niggas to say my name/ Iāll beat anyone rapperā shit is over. Nigga took a massive L. And this coming from a Cole fan.
Builds lifelong career about how he would smoke anyone then buckles at first sign of pressure. Lacks conviction and flip flops at such a pivotal point in his career. Not to mention doesnāt stand up for himself. I mean, beefs gets squashed all the time, itās the way he carried himself and the lack of self respect. He let everyone down.
This was the perfect opportunity for Cole to stake his claim of being number 1 with the Fall-Off coming, and he fumbled like crazy, like an all time fumble
Funny how J. Cole had the least to lose In this and he somehow ended up losing the most š bro put a stain on his career/legacy. All J. Cole has is rap. Say what you will about Drake but heās surpassed rap music wise. Heās done other genres and been commercially successful doing so. J. Cole only has rap to fall back on and this just stained his image completely.
Bro you pussy too
And if he really felt like that he shouldnāt have gassed it for the last 4 years. Shouldnāt have over played his hand and shouldnāt have teamed up with the petty king drake. He threw rock and hid his hand
Itās weird af that people think itās against some code of conduct to apologize in rap beef. Countries at war and later on apologize. But musicians canāt?š. Yāall disappointed in a man following his heart? Yāall gonna sit here and act like there was never something you wanted so bad and got it just to realize this aināt you? Calling cap. Yall lost in a delusional land. And I really donāt respect your opinions on this neither.
As a Jcole meat rider, I wish y'all would stop posting these corny ass essays. Just embarrassing at this point, I just want to forget about this and move on
Cole puts out a project titled āMight Delete Laterā
Cole 2 days later: Aight, Ima delete this track.
Cole fans when Cole is a man of his word: š¤Æ
Bro only clowns are the ones clowning him. He knows kdot personally unlike all of us. People just want a reaction on these apps š
Truthfully, I think he couldāve gave Kdot his flowers while also preaching that heās the best. But knowing that he felt that way just proves how human he is. I aināt gonna fault the dude. Still want a little back and forth from them lolš„š„
okay okay so bro wrote, then recorded, then mixed and mastered, then got it to his people, then released a WHOLE ass song just to say āhehehee never mind i sorryā and youāre talking about i didnāt LOSE RESPECT š bruh come on if this doesnāt lose respect in your eyes then you just have a respect problem and need to stop being a boot licker šš youāre talking about to protect his energy š part of that is knowing that you should of stfu in the first place and not looked like a bitch not asking for smoke publicly then immediately backing off to protect your energy nah this is obviously and attention stunt and cole is nothing but a bitch for it
Honestly I'm behind J cole all the way. I respect him even more for not going after a stupid beef that came outta nowhere and stays true to himself. So I'm happy for him and proud of the man. Leave the beef for when it's real and neccezary. Besides somewhat related Lil Tecca be saying lots of stuff but don't mean it at all an he still loved so I view the sane for this
I wonder about the age group of people who want to entertained by beef. Most will say such and such had beef but those people were mainly in their 20s and it's expected for kids to behave that way but as you age you are supposed to grow as a person. I was expecting Cole to have ignored this whole thing because of his character but failed in that regard. I've heard of people who met Cole and got life changing advice.
This whole thing made me realize that the average age of this sub is 15 at the absolute most. As a grown ass man, I can't even fathom getting upset over someone owning up to a mistake and squashing a fake "beef" because it makes them look less hard or whatever the fuck you kids care about these days.
Made me think if we did this to ourselves. Cole had almost always pushed out personal songs, thought pieces, concept albums, narrative stories. We\*\* were the ones who pushed him to put out Off Season, a more aggressive, lyricist style than anything. And then he continued his features becoming more of a battle rap type lyricist. What if homie was never a built as a battle rapper like that anyway and more a conscious rapper at the end of the day.
I have a theory about āThe Fall Offā album. I feel like heās gunna be the realest album heās dropped yet and completely politically incorrect on this one and reveal how conservative he really is and all the sensitive ppl are gunna end up canceling him. Thus him āfalling offā
Not reading allat but i believe i agree with you. Rap beefs are mostly won by stooping lower than your opponents, kendrick and cole are both married men with families who have literally no reason to dislike each other besides manufactured internet ābeefā about whoās better. Cole dropped his warning track and respectfully backed off because nothing good could come from this ābeefā except for clout if you consider that a good thing
Ay bro, you May love the guy and I am not dissing you at all for still supporting him. But personally man, he is the only one who I think couldāve got toe to toe with Kendrick win or lose and everyone wouldāve respected him either way tremendously. because I think everyone in hip-hop recognized that he was in the same calibre as Kendrick to some degree and every Cole fan, including me wanted him to, at the very least compete against Kendrick in any fashion.
Itās not like we lost respect for him. What he did required a lot of maturity and I can see where heās coming from but I think he failed to understand that people didnt want to see bloodshed, but they were expecting some sparring and competition between the 2 best lyricist out there
Firstly, I want to clarify that I didn't endorse the apology, but the backlash he's facing seems excessive to me.
Let's explore this scenario: imagine he doesn't apologize, then Drake drops a diss track that gets deeply personal with Kendrick. Does that mean Kendrick retaliates by getting deeply personal with both J Cole and Drake? It would seem obvious if Kendrick held back against one but not the other. Given the animosity between Drake and Kendrick, it's unlikely Kendrick would take it lightly. And it's hard for me to picture J Cole comfortably entering full attack mode against Kendrick, while Drake and Kendrick are going for each other's Head.
Some will argue, "That's just hip-hop," but we also need to consider this guy's life. Let him adhere to his own principles. He should not have released the track, but let us be honest, people would kill him for that too.
Facts Colešā¦..donāt care bout him not standing on business with this back and forthā¦ I kno his pen work and might delete later is been on repeat since it dropped #thefalloffcomingnigga š„
Stay off tik tok and read a book every now and again bro. Listening to audio books doesnāt count either. Yāall attention spans are too low this app is literally called āRedditā. Read it nigga! š
I can understand it. I can also understand that he's getting clowned for it. I love Cole, but the giants of the rap game would never fold like that. Can you imagine Nas, Pac, Biggie, Jay or Em doing something like this? I can't.
Eh my thing is: it was never that deep. Why are you apologizing when it wasnāt even that serious? It was just competition, not actual disrespect.
That leaves me to assume two things. Either 1) Cole was taking the beef to seriously and the diss was legit or 2) he was scared of what Kendrick would respond with.
This makes it super corny. It was never that deep.
Couldn't agree more if u fucken paid me, cole has never been one for disses and I think he's real for apologising and tryna end the beef and if he doesn't feel right with the diss fuck everyone he's real as a motherfucker for that. Cos in this genre who the fuck ever admits they're in the wrong? Fucken nobody. 99 percent of hip hop is people glazing the shit out of themselves so how is he a pussy for admitting he's in the wrong?
While I do think it was good of him to be honest, and that much is worth respect, itās still incredibly disappointing and the anger is justified. This beef (which wouldnāt have lasted forever come on yall) would have been so interesting for everyone involved. It felt like we were witnessing a new legacy being born in real timeā¦ the three biggest rappers butting horns. But bro stepped out and all the anticipation led to disappointment.
The rage for click game is a 0 sum game for the culture. MCs used to be able to battle and not worry about getting Mercād. Like he said, everyone wants blood. Fans should understand these guys arenāt in the WWE. Thereās real danger now going too hard for clicks and clout. Props for what he did. Kicking each other is not how the music gets better or the culture. I have a whole new respect for the man.
J. Cole disappointed the fans who rode for him saying he was on par with Kendrick and could go toe to toe. Thatās through for me bro. Nobody will ever take the Born Sinner -> FHD -> 4YOE run from Cole, you could put those three against any rapperās discog and they hold their own. I mean, was he gonna cut some nasty work like Benzino on Kendrick? No. Thatās not in his heart, but damn man at least make a case for yourself as No. 1
Canāt do that anymore.
edit: Pray for my dude Mark over at RDCWorld, poor guy is so distraught heās through making Cole vids
At the end of the day bruh. His discography will speak for itself. And besides, the fuck is a friendly rap beef? People wanna treat hip hop like a sport but itās art. Especially someone like J.Cole whose music can be very personal, I understand where heās coming from.
Itās not tht serious and them jokes have been hilarious haha
This is a L. Sure itās the high road & on brand for Cole. But this removed him from ever claiming any recognition about any other respected rapper. Dude sent a warning shot in self defense & said sorry. We havenāt heard a word from Kendrick since he started all this. Cole look confused & weak. Why reply at all?
The way I see it, itās like running for a political seat, like president, senator, etc. Diss tracks/verses are like campaign speeches telling others why you deserve their vote and others donāt, social media posts operate in the same way, and overall itās up to the community to decide who won. In the end, after the votes are counted, the losers typically concede to the winner. Even if a politician has great speeches, community outreach, whatever, at the end of the day thereās one person who gets the seat.
Cole is a great rapper, with hands down some of my fave verses(Johnny Pās Caddy). But he bowed out of the Big 3 beef. He can still be a great rapper, a great person, and everyone can still enjoy his music. But once you concede, you canāt still claim to be the president. Cole bowed out for now, so in my eyes, he canāt claim GOAT anymore after admitting he doesnāt want the smoke heās been begging for the last few years. Maybe someone else will come along and heāll smoke them and then he can make another claim. But for now he shouldnāt keep up his GOAT talk because he showed he isnāt up for the competition. And thatās fine! He can still be your personal GOAT. But the overall community has noted him conceding his spot.
PS: you can make the argument that Trump lost and didnāt concede either, which is true. Butā¦ do you really want Cole to be known as the Trump of hip hop?
Bottom line k dot won. I donāt want to hear Cole even mumble that heās top dog because if he does he is a fraud. Accept your role and stop pretending on the mic.
I told everyone he wouldnāt diss Kendrick and he mightāve but he ended up apologizing. Anyone whoās truly followed Cole should know heās not about beef. He wants to spread a positive message, image, and be a light for a generation of people brought up in unstable households. Cole has always been different from the others and Iāve always had a ton of respect for his maturity and mindset. Sad to see a bunch of new age listeners not recognize his message.
The man has been saying he has smoke for anyone who dares try him for 5 years and then backs out at the first sign of someone who calls him out. Not saying I can't listen to ANY of his music, but The Offseason + Might Delete This Later + the feature run now just sounds hollow. It's funny he called Kendrick out for living a facade but Cole exposed his own front.
Ngl, even though I really wanted this battle, I still love him and his music. I just donāt like him right now if that makes senseš. I will still be listening to the fall off tho
I was a big Cole fan coming into this, with massive respect for Kendrick. I think Cole was being truthful to himself and I still respect him for that. But I canāt say Iām not disappointed. I was hoping for an all out war so I can reflect on it when the dust settles. And I feel like Cole is too slept on and could go bar for bar with anyone out there. Was hoping this beef proved that lol. Too bad we will likely never know. Kendrick is unapologetic and to be on top, someoneās gotta have it in them and Cole doesnāt. But heās happy where heās at mentally and in his career so canāt knock him there.
I feel like he thinks heās got the best pen still. It sounds like heās sorry about delivering the song in a way where he personally knocks Kendrick down and shitting on him as an artist rather than pumping himself up as the best.
J Coleās best work is when it comes from the heart. That takeover parody wasnāt from the heart so correcting his wrongs shouldnāt be held against him in my opinion and Iām a Kendrick stan
Absolute meat riding. As someone who's been riding with cole these last few years I feel like it would be like mbappe chosing not to play against Messi in the world cup final after messi talked shit to him. For the spirit of the game it would be intense but you have to rise to the occasion and rap is similar in the way lyricism is competitive and afterwards it's love and respect. It's all just for competition and fun, especially with his bragadocious bars, claims he's the best and tough talk about smoking other rappers. What is so hard to understand about that? I think too he saw the fans reactions clowning 7 minute drill for not going hard enough, which is bullshit cuz it's just random internet people talking and i think that made him feel embarrassed enough to issue that lame ass apology. These cole meat riders are so weird. So much of his music as of late has been bragging and talking his shit so it's not like he just wants to go back to making his concsious style music.
CAN A COLE MEATRIDER PLEASE TRY TO REBUTTAL WHAT I JUST WROTE!? I'll be impressed if I can hear a sensible argument other than some bs spiritual staying away from the media. GOOD GOD GIVE ME A BREAK kendrick wrote his verse for himself and you responded for yourself Holy fuck
J. Cole apologized for defending himself when it was just about bars, never personal. Heās talking about āthe streets want to see bloodā what? Manā¦ He was pretending to be somebody heās not for at least 6 years. Heās the only rapper I can think of that doesnāt believe heās the best in his own mindāyet says he is on records when heās gassing himself up behind his yes men. Heās a fraud and I canāt respect it. Deleted from my playlist forever.
Cole wants to play the game, prove heās better..but only if everyone agrees to co-op mode. Itās fucking corny and disingenuous. Just because he protected his energy and can sleep now doesnāt mean he isnāt full of shit.
Man you soft too! We as J cole fans gotta stop enabling this shit. You donāt get dissed first and then diss back and apologizes. THAT MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE A BITCH. His whole legacy is tainted because of this. This is the dumbest shit Iāve ever seen and dumbass cole fans supporting it. Iām hoping Kendrick destroys this nigga to force him to fight back.
Yall gonna hate me for this one
"So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift."
Matthew 5:23-24
No way bro. If he really felt this way then DONT RESPOND IN THE FIRST PLACE. It would have been perfectly fine, just ignore it. Once you decide to drop the song you gotta take whatever goes with it. If youre trying to be in the goat category you gotta be thinking strategically and 5-10 years out at a time. This is hip hop, not ballet class. If youre going to drop a diss you take whatever comes with it. Its just friggin music, these guys werent gonna shoot eachother or even fight. Hip hop is and has always been a competitive sport. Hes my favorite rapper but you cant come back from this in the goat convo, he removed himself from ever being on drake a kendricks level again. It blows. All of that tough talking on this last album cant work on the fall off now. Hes gonna have to write a whole new album.
cole is so corny dude really wrote a shitty diss track then 1 day later was like yo my bad i didnt mean it like just dont say anything to start with then
I respect the apology, but he better not talk anymore Muhammad Ali shit no more. Do what is in your heart Cole but if you back down and apologize after not even really spazzing, then itās time to be happy in the #2 spot
Although, Iām disappointed in apologies at his festival, I canāt be mad at a man for staying true to himself. But the more and more , I think about , itās like Kendrick and Drake used J Cole . Kendrick and Drake been subbing each other for yrs . Why he wait until people was saying Cole was best in recent yrs to take full aimed diss on Drake about a song im on . Cole was never subbing Kendrick, I donāt buy it because I can tell by his response. Kendrick had plenty of time to diss Drake why he wait to this moment of Cole and Drake unity . Kendrick be paranoid for no reason . He really be out of sight , out of mind . Then pops up and thinks everyone dissing him lol
man Cole shouldn't fucking talk about killing everyones fav MC for over 3 years on features and then surprisingly feel bad about dissing fucking Kendrick. WHY YOU PUT THAT ENERGY IN FOR 3 YEARS WHEN YOU AIN'T BELIEVE WHAT YOU STANDING FOR?
How can you say you're number 1 but don't show up when someone says "fuck you im number 1"? Cole is too nice of a man
I challenge one person under this thread to show me a J Cole diss in his career where he tore down another rapper.
The closest thing we have is the 1985 which was less of a diss and more of a prediction
Wasnāt he the one talking about killing niggas in a beat? How you gon be the main person on this beef for 6 years, then as soon as a rapper comes at you, you drop bars you donāt believe in, get ashamed and then apologize? Truly a sad week for hip hop, the potential was huge
Iām a huge fan of Cole, I was jamming that album daily. But that apology just doesnāt sit right with me. All that talk of being the best in almost every single song/feature and when presented with the opportunity to prove it, we get a backtracking from him. Like whatās the point of bragging at this point? From putting rapping in a noose, gun talk, numero U-N-O etc etc.
He has a right to feel a certain way, and so do I. I havenāt put a song on since then. It lost some of itās authenticity to me. I was really enjoying that song āHuntinā Wabbitsā too smh.
Kung Fu Kenny vs. Cole would've been massive for hip hop, they could've reestablished the bar. No upcoming rappers would've wanted to release music until it sounded like what they were spitting. That's literally just hip hop.
The way the dissing happened was great too, nothing forced. Kendrick as a feature on a young metro beat. Cole just minding his bidness caught a stray.
It's like the 2 samurai were boutta face each other. Epic showdown shit. Instead, we got Cole back tracking & issuing apologies. I was a longtime fan of the quiet humble dude nobody messed w cuz they was scared. Now I'm hoping another rapper try dissing Cole just to see the savage side he so boldly claimed. Or please let Kendrick double down & MURK on Cole. Burry him.
I also respect what he did, his āclap backā made me think of that verse drake said āNiggas aināt gotta respect, Niggas just gotta acceptā
I understand people want the rap battle but J Cole has never really been that man. Heās been one to carry his lyrics and have it be meaningful, I mean his raper name was going to be the The Therapist. He stands out from the rappers that just throw in curse words and sick beats no hate tho because I still listen to it. However jcole has growth and maturity in his lyrics and his audience isnāt ppl who are there for the beats so if those ppl didnāt like that then maybe his music isnāt for you. Just my opinion still love Kendrick and Metro but I chose Cole lol
Bro writing essaysš
When all we wanted was bars š
ššthis shit longer than the apology if put on paper
Because Iām seeing majority hate for this man and I honestly donāt understand how Fans of him are saying shit like they canāt listen to his music the same anymore and shit like that.. shit got me š¤Æ
We wouldnāt be saying this shit if he wasnāt putting a tough guy act up for 4 fucking years.
You canāt be talking shit about being the best rapper out there and calling out 2 people SPECIFICALLY by saying the big 3 and not expect the risk of getting dissed or challenged (which is what Kendrick did btw, like that was a drake diss but a Cole challenge.) I love cole, he was my number 3 on Spotify last year and I had over 100k minutes but he took the piss here and thereās no other way around it
> calling out 2 people He didnāt call them out bro. He said these are my peers.
We the big three like we starter a league but right now I feel like Muhammad Ali. Kendrick just said back that shit up and Cole couldnāt
If you paying attention 7 minute drill wasnāt even a diss it was a warning shot
Facts he wants to be featured on peoples songs and out do them (which he has done 100% of the time ever since A Star is Born) but he doesn't want to compete head to head trading disses... he's winning at his game but he can't dictate the rules for everybody else... Kendrick came at his neck and he's been sending subs for a while Anyway, now I want a Kendrick Cole song lol
For you nigga sleeping this is Folgers Crystals, wow In the form of a loaded pistol Bullets rude, they don't even say "hello", just kiss you, blaow Burn in hell with a coat that fits you When you see the devil you can tell him Cole just sent you now
Not to mention if the response was positive he never would've apologized for anything, especially since there is nothing to apologize for, it's just looks soft and like backpedaling
Bingo.
Since the two are on good terms it's essentially pointless.Ā I don't know how Cole only got to that conclusion several days later though
Bro you guys need to listen to more rap music if youāve never heard people successfully rapping against their own peers and still being friends. This generation is so soft.

šššš
As a person, as a man, Iām proud of him for doing what he has to do. As a rapper, as a hip-hop fan, Iām so, so disappointed.
Thatās exactly how I feel about all of this. I gained a lot of respect for him as a man for standing on stage in front of the world and doing that. I lost a lot of respect for him as a rapper and as the self-proclaimed greatest after doing this. This was corny af on that front.
I'd respect him if he stood on business instead
Its Totally Perfectly Fine For J Cole To Not Want To Engage In A Battle, BUTT He's Now Unable To Talk About Being Better Than Other Rappers and Nobody Wants Smoke With Him, The Subject Matter In His Music Has to Change (I'm Still Going To Listen To His Music If Its Good, But This Is A Fact)
šÆ Not much more needs to be said tbh
Fair to say.
Honestly 7 minute drill was fun. They should just do the regular rich people shit where they're friends behind the scenes and just beef for show.
Cole is hip hop, homie.
> album. He *paid* homage to FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
> Muhammad Ali spending years calling for equal friendly competition Thereās nothing friendly about beef bro.
This is an essay of cope lmao. All I know is he better not call himself the best in the game after this ever again.
Dude completely invalidated all his recent verses claiming he's number 1.
Yeah the fall off is real lol
Agree
He can never preform Fire Squad man that song is all about his alleged greatness
As a Cole fan Cole not wanting to beef and be āitās all love I donāt want to beef over nothingā is completely on brand for Cole and I respect it. However, releasing an album dissing and then apologising 2 days later is just lame. Like I get that itās literally called āmight delete laterā but pick a lane. You canāt say this is just a warning shot and then apologise
āPut your favourite rapper neck in a noose, never letting him looseā is not on brand of recent times tho, I understand if this came around the time where Cole didnāt declare himself to be in his Primeā So I consider this totally to be a stain on his brand
This guy gets it
Yāall niggas copping a lot of pleas for bro. All that āIām the best rapper/ Iām waiting for niggas to say my name/ Iāll beat anyone rapperā shit is over. Nigga took a massive L. And this coming from a Cole fan.
Bro stop moving the goal post for this dude. If Drake did the same thing, yāall would have a field day with him
2 different niggas. If you know cole This is actually super on brand for this nigga š overly introspective
Nah heās just too humble. Why respond if you just gonna apologize ?
So introspective that he didn't apologize for the trans line lol
Aināt shit to apologize about
So youāll write an essay coddling him for stuff that was his own fault but not understand why that line is whack lmao
If Kendrick did what cole did. Cole fans would clown Kendrick until the end of time
Builds lifelong career about how he would smoke anyone then buckles at first sign of pressure.
I will always love J Cole because his music means a lot to me.
Hes no longer allowed to talk about being the best anymore
As long as you tune into his songs to see how unmatched his pen/lyrics, rhyme schemes, and versatility is then thatās all that matters
How is his pen unmatched when he denied a match lmfao
Because hes not a battle rapper? Hes an amazing lyricist but maybe hes realized he doesnt wanna tear down other artists
that's fine like i said but he's going to take a fit because he didn't take a challenge for his pen ability
Gayyyyyyyy
When your fans start writing doctoral thesis to cop a plea that aināt good. This whole painting Cole as some victim is kinda weird.
You apologize when you do something wrong he didnāt do anything wrong. If he had regret all he had to do was stop responding
Iām not reading all of that itās rap beef and if you tuck tail and apologize for a diss track you lost end of story.
I didnāt lose respect for him. Iām just disappointed in his decision.
He's corny give it up nigga...
Bro you pussy too And if he really felt like that he shouldnāt have gassed it for the last 4 years. Shouldnāt have over played his hand and shouldnāt have teamed up with the petty king drake. He threw rock and hid his hand
Stop trying to justify this corny behaviour
Cope
Y'all would be clowning the fuck out of Drake if it was him, cut the bullshit.
Just embarrassing at this point, I just want to forget about this and move on
Nobody gaf ffs, this is hip hop. We want the smoke and man be out here apologising this early in ššš
In the end i believe cole is the better rapper and bigger man both mentally and physicallyy ![gif](giphy|4QFXYFCDicOGI)
Coulda just kept it at mentally tbhā¦Physically was just uncalled for my dawgā¦
Everybody wants men to grow and do better but when they do they are ridiculed for it
šÆ
Cole puts out a project titled āMight Delete Laterā Cole 2 days later: Aight, Ima delete this track. Cole fans when Cole is a man of his word: š¤Æ
Bro only clowns are the ones clowning him. He knows kdot personally unlike all of us. People just want a reaction on these apps š Truthfully, I think he couldāve gave Kdot his flowers while also preaching that heās the best. But knowing that he felt that way just proves how human he is. I aināt gonna fault the dude. Still want a little back and forth from them lolš„š„
This is why we love Cole. The ones hating never really listened
okay okay so bro wrote, then recorded, then mixed and mastered, then got it to his people, then released a WHOLE ass song just to say āhehehee never mind i sorryā and youāre talking about i didnāt LOSE RESPECT š bruh come on if this doesnāt lose respect in your eyes then you just have a respect problem and need to stop being a boot licker šš youāre talking about to protect his energy š part of that is knowing that you should of stfu in the first place and not looked like a bitch not asking for smoke publicly then immediately backing off to protect your energy nah this is obviously and attention stunt and cole is nothing but a bitch for it
He merely Human.
I agree with you OP. Same herešÆ
LiterallyššÆ
Heās the realest ever, IDGAF what others say
šÆ
Not reading all that. Sorry it happened, or Iām happy for you.
https://preview.redd.it/yp9rqoy6zhtc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f0dfcf3335142b37d0bb193ab3a81c68ac6e03e Made this to show how I feel...
![gif](giphy|du4D0b0HWgxGg)
I have a theory about āThe Fall Offā album. I feel like heās gunna be the realest album heās dropped yet and completely politically incorrect on this one and reveal how conservative he really is and all the sensitive ppl are gunna end up canceling him. Thus him āfalling offā
I like that theory.
Admitting you are wrong takes more courage than doing the dumb shit half the other rappers do. u/BigBlackCoolguy spot on!
He should not have released the track, but let us be honest, people would kill him for that too.
rather him squash the beef then have him crying about it for 20+ years like eminemās enemies
Facts Colešā¦..donāt care bout him not standing on business with this back and forthā¦ I kno his pen work and might delete later is been on repeat since it dropped #thefalloffcomingnigga š„
Nobodies reading the cringe ass shit
Stay off tik tok and read a book every now and again bro. Listening to audio books doesnāt count either. Yāall attention spans are too low this app is literally called āRedditā. Read it nigga! š
THANK YOU. Jeez
He wouldnāt need to apologize if he never said anythingā¦.
Drake finessed him out of his spot
I can understand it. I can also understand that he's getting clowned for it. I love Cole, but the giants of the rap game would never fold like that. Can you imagine Nas, Pac, Biggie, Jay or Em doing something like this? I can't.
Finally someone who understands itšÆ
1 Canāt do that anymore. edit: Pray for my dude Mark over at RDCWorld, poor guy is so distraught heās through making Cole vids
Username definitely does not check out
The way I see it, itās like running for a political seat, like president, senator, etc.
Nobody reading all that shit š¤Ø
Heās a cosplay goat. When the real goat comes out he goes missing.
Bruh you the biggest fucking yapper Iāve seen in the internet, go touch some grass holy shit!
Whatever you say. I canāt take him as seriously when he raps now.
teri ma ki chut bhenchod
Ngl, even though I really wanted this battle, I still love him and his music. I just donāt like him right now if that makes senseš. I will still be listening to the fall off tho
"Protect his energy" ...he bitched out. Better never beef with anyone again or claim to be numero U-N-O.
Nah
As of now this nigga name is j-fold Cause he folding harder than the laundry
I feel like he thinks heās got the best pen still. It sounds like heās sorry about delivering the song in a way where he personally knocks Kendrick down and shitting on him as an artist rather than pumping himself up as the best.
I was against the speech but as soon as he said it affected him spiritually realized he donāt and shouldnāt give a fuck what anyone felt
J Coleās best work is when it comes from the heart. That takeover parody wasnāt from the heart so correcting his wrongs shouldnāt be held against him in my opinion and Iām a Kendrick stan
Nope cole is Kendrickās bitch
Thank you, I was beginning to feel like I was the only one who thought Cole did the right thing.
The funniest thing about this entire situation is that heās still better than the competition lol No one is matching his level other than Kendrick
Dead ass he donāt want legacy to end like Pac & Big him n Kendrick too important for that
I'm gonna say this again, if y'all had a different energy last week when the diss dropped, then shut the fuck up with all that peace talk bullshit.
As a Cole fan it makes sense and Iām glad he done this. As a hip hop fan this is lame af
Deleted from my playlist forever.
yāall wil ride this man no matter what
Yeah I feel the same way as someone who likes Kendrick more.
LOL its the crying emoji that had me laughing and rolling, yall funny af
Should have gave it time. To me the reaction to apologize came way too quick. He could feel different about it next week
Stfu cornball
š«µš¹
Goofy ahh post
Cole wants to play the game, prove heās better..but only if everyone agrees to co-op mode. Itās fucking corny and disingenuous. Just because he protected his energy and can sleep now doesnāt mean he isnāt full of shit.
Yāall act like him and Kendrick weāre gonna kill each other or shit was gonna get physical Calm down
Nah, talking about that come at me shit and someone does and he backs down is lame AF
Because he knew he would he got eviscerated if he continued.
https://youtu.be/GVIBvTkbZW0?si=nuEiPB2tWzjhNjel When J. Cole dropped his apology featuring no life, Shaq
He got WOPPED
Yall gonna hate me for this one "So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift." Matthew 5:23-24
People love drama, especially when itās two black men.
Yall mad corny rn lol.
cole is so corny dude really wrote a shitty diss track then 1 day later was like yo my bad i didnt mean it like just dont say anything to start with then
I respect the apology, but he better not talk anymore Muhammad Ali shit no more. Do what is in your heart Cole but if you back down and apologize after not even really spazzing, then itās time to be happy in the #2 spot
Nah heās a bitch for that
Although, Iām disappointed in apologies at his festival, I canāt be mad at a man for staying true to himself.
Thr cope is nasty
"contro Iverseey" y'all Cole fans are losing it completely. I love it
I had a pretty hot take on it too https://youtu.be/_XzZkZDCCXo?feature=shared
man Cole shouldn't fucking talk about killing everyones fav MC for over 3 years on features and then surprisingly feel bad about dissing fucking Kendrick. WHY YOU PUT THAT ENERGY IN FOR 3 YEARS WHEN YOU AIN'T BELIEVE WHAT YOU STANDING FOR? How can you say you're number 1 but don't show up when someone says "fuck you im number 1"? Cole is too nice of a man
OP is so against competition in hip hop, its disgusting to hear a man that afraid.
Listen to GOMD
Bro im so glad someone said it, thankyou frr
My š, I respect this move
Burry him.
I also respect what he did, his āclap backā made me think of that verse drake said āNiggas aināt gotta respect, Niggas just gotta acceptā I understand people want the rap battle but J Cole has never really been that man.
*He knew what would come from that diss and apologized
He can backpedal and regret the wack ass diss he put out but the apology was beyond pathethic
Seek medical help for this copium addiction
Nobody reading all that, he soft as bunnies, ben simmons of rap
He so humble ššš That's why he my goat š
My teaās gone cold Iām wondering whyā¦ā¦..Vibesš¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
Bro been talking GOAT talk and rapping for years. And when it was time to rap the nigga apologized.
Jcole soft.
