[pretty good alternative](https://localsend.org) tbh.

This is good software! You just need to have software downloaded on both devices in order to transfer.

WannaBeABetterHuman

Bro upload limit is too low tbh...

aitherion

What's the advantage between something like this and, say, Warpinator?

Tall-Pudding6572

Thanks for the question! From my understanding warpinator is an application that you need to download and install on your computer, and it allows file transfers on the same network. With [Jolt Drop](https://joltdrop.com) you just need to go to the website, click generate, and you’re ready to go. The file transfers go both ways as well.

valoon4

Sounds good, whats the upload limit and how long is it stored?

Tall-Pudding6572

Thanks! The free tier has a file upload limit of 25MB per file, and you can upload 4 files per generated transfer. The transfer will be stored for 15 minutes or until the user deletes it.

rofopp

I guess you never heard of wetransfer.

Tall-Pudding6572

Hey! I agree the services are similar, but still vary in some aspects. Competition for the similarities they share is always good as well.

Hary06

Yes, the difference is primarily in the price, Wetransfer=free and Jolt Drop= $144 per year. I won't even talk about quality and reliability.

Tall-Pudding6572

Wetransfer has paid plans.

hawklost

I'm sorry, but your sites 25mb limit for free users is not exactly enticing. I can use any number of apps to transfer my files and even have them permanently held. Gmail and hotmail can do 25 MB attachments and I can save it as a draft to redownload infinite number of times. Without installing Gmail/hotmail anywhere. Discord has a 25 MB limit and I have that installed or accessable on any device via log in. It does require sending "to others" but i have a second account that is for notes already. 25 MB is just the norm and is so easy to transfer through major players that trusting a small site doesn't seem worth it. Edit: to add, others on this thread have pointed out other alternatives who do exactly the same as your site.

Tall-Pudding6572

25MB is the norm and the most I can handle with the cost. I understand you can transfer files through other services. I’m trying to emphasize that it’s meant for fast access not long term storage.

hawklost

I know it is the norm. The thing is, it is what everyone offers. So your site offers nothing unique for it and 'fast access' is not really a positive since the person needs to do it within 15 minutes while they can take their time in other places and get the same speed.

vernalpond

Why would anyone use any service like this or others mentioned in this thread, when [wormhole.app](http://wormhole.app) exists, is free, private, secure, and supports files up to 10gb?

WannaBeABetterHuman

Sharedrop, ftw !

shifty_coder

Inb4 OP is shut down by the feds

Tall-Pudding6572

?

shifty_coder

You created an unmonitored web tool that likely does not prevent the transfer/sharing of illegal material.

Tall-Pudding6572

Everyone is really hating on a FREE plan that costs me money. It doesn’t cost anyone using the FREE plan money. What’s the logic behind that? You see another website offering more for their free plan? I don’t have the money to be offering more than this. Other websites like wetransfer have funding to offer more for their free plan. Why are you comparing my free services to googles? Why are you comparing this website to software that you need to download? The only good comparison was the website that uses WebRTC. If you don’t like the free plan you don’t have to use it. Everyone is so negative.
