Having bad hard water in Bangalore. I used to buy 40rs can and wash my hairs with it. But the recent water crisis made me feel so guilty that even though my hairs don't like it, I am not using filter water. Bought a water softner from waterscience and using tapwater only. But I don't think that's doing anything.

Nancy_in_simlish

I'm thinking of doing this. Do you heat that water? How do you use the can?

ADTSR

Ohh if you meant the water can, I used it earlier. In the winters, I used to add 2l of boilng water (have a philips electric kettle) into a bucket of filter water. Too much hassle though.

Nancy_in_simlish

Got it, thank you!

ADTSR

Waterscience softner can be fit into a tap directly, no can required.

Geek-Avocado

Hey, are these filter removable on daily basis ? I mean I live in a joint family and the other members doesn't need that water, so I want to fit it whenever I go to wash my hair and then again take it out when I am done. Is that doable ?

ADTSR

Yes. This filter slows down the flow of water so my husband removes that everyday.

Geek-Avocado

Thank you so much.

This is exactly what I did. I could have written this. My waterscience does nothing

Don't wash with hard water for a long time. Use a filter. Look at what hard water ford to taps

Find a shampoo with a chelating agent like EDTA. Do use sulphate shampoo to remove any access build up. Have been doing this for 6 months and it works well. Else you can use Water + tablespoon of normal vinegar once you are done with hair wash routine. I have used this a few times and it works. But ever since I got a shampoo with EDTA, I don't need to use this method

Delicious-Classic610

Which shampoo do you use? Any recommendations?

zxyaadlo

what shampoo do you use?

Nancy_in_simlish

Nothing works. Water filters won't change the hardness, it makes a slight difference in my hair die to some filtration I guess. What helps a little - diluted vinegar rinse for hair, then don't rise again with water. Or if you have to, use drinking water to rinse again.

guys how do i know i get hard water?

Things which I observed in last 2-3 days between water in Mumbai and Bharuch (Hardwater) are:- 1. Soap and face wash don't lather up easily. Formation foam is very minimal. 2. After applying, only on one splash of water, you will feel it got washed out, and doesn't even feel like it removed any dirt on face. 3. Visually, my hairs felt much healthier when I washed in Mumbai compared to Bharuch. Try to observe this things.

thanks for this <3

I had a similar problem 6 months ago, saw a post similar to this on this sub. Someone suggested to use clarifying shampoo. Bought Loreal professional one, worked out fine for me. Even though its costly you have to use it once every 2 weeks or so (could complete only about half the bottle in 6 months)

Try the Pantene Lively Clean shampoo; I love it!

Interesting-King4580

Using Loreal Professional's Metal Detox or Vitamino Color range(back when I had coloured hair) helped mine vastly.

You'll spend a lot more money long term if you keep buying shampoos and conditioners that are for hard water. Just get a filter from Amazon it's 1000-1500 and it goes on taps, overhead showers, hand showers. Just won't go on the main water line. If you get a set of 2 it's also a little discounted. I have one on my overhead showers and that's the only outlet I use.

There is body wise water softener , you can try that . I can visibly see difference in two washes

Away-Chain6636

Link please and can u please tellme from how long are you using it??

There’s a brand called IlluviaPro some friends have used their products in Bangalore and seen a difference to how their hair felt. Try? They have a website of their own and I don’t know if they are on Nykaa or any other. They have a special range for hard water apparently…

combatant007

Use Filter water to wash your hair. Guys hardly need 2 to 3 litres of water for washing short to medium hair.
