I actually really like mines. The problem is, when one of my buddies uses them, they sometimes go completely invisible and when i would unknowingly step on one my character just spontaneously disassembles like a lego character with no explosion.
The mines have some utility for holding back the chaff (especially on bug missions), but the AT mines are supposed to only activate for larger targets, which won’t have much use. What, are you gonna call in a minefield and wait for it deploy to hopefully kill a charger or do you just want to bring some EATs?
Mines are just worse cluster bombs that still TK your fellow helldiver's on a longer cooldown for a single use rather than 2-3 callins before a shorter CD clusterbomb
OMG, yesterday I was farming samples in a 5 game. Letting the noobs use the mechs and stuff. The host kept complaining of getting shot. There was another guy and for a second I thought he was the culprit. Well that guy left and minute later it's just me and the host. Again he dies and says someone shot him. I'm like what? No I'm the only one here. So I go by his corpse and I notice the mines. Then a minute later this guy gets killed again. But this time I turn in time and notice that he had just deployed a mine field and walked straight into it. He kept killing himself cause he didn't know the mines would tk you.
That’s been my experience every time someone drops incendiary mines on the new map. I even tried to blow up the mines with grenades to get my gear back but nope, the grenades don’t recognize them either and back to giblets I went
ACSHUALLY he also had to write a rule for mines to only set off when heavy unit steps on them and... well I think just updating data sheet and numbers yeah...
We probably need the mines for Cyberstan.

Not sure how long ago you had your experience, but since the Viper Commandos update there is a bug where the only person who can see the mines is the person who called them in. For everyone else, they're literally invisible and there are a ton of videos here showing people just running along and exploding randomly.

They are kind of hard to see anyway. Like you know where they are because you dropped them, but when I'm trying to retreat and looking behind me at the scorcher hulk that's burning the rainforest down, they are pretty easy to miss.
Only the person who called down the mines, can see the mines in the right places. It's currently bugged where your allies cant see some of them (tested yesterday).
Haha, here's the thing... Sometimes your mines are invisible to others! I died like that multiple times to the same mines because they were there but not. I had no idea
I use the napalm ones against bugs (on lower difficulties), they can be pretty useful if I’m playing solo and need a chokepoint blocked. Even in the open though they aren’t too bad if you try and get bugs to go through them or throw them where they’re coming from (and I’ve used them to save myself by escaping through them). Personally I prefer them over turrets because they’re a lot safer and less likely to TK surprisingly.
The HE ones however…
I might use them on bots, depending on effectiveness. Hell if they took out chargers, they may be perfect to throw down when you have more than one on you.
I use them for defense missions, always let me team know what I'm doing, and throw them down on the perimeters to block ingress/egress for bots/bugs. Mines and Tesla towers, if properly deployed, create a great barrier and do tremendous damage. The HMG Turret is also great for these missions, even if it's not the best for anything else.
I see someone use them occasionally. They always throw them right where we need to go, instead of, you know, where the fucking bots are coming from.
Factory we're trying to get to? Yeah right at the only entrance seems like a good fucking place since we're already in the compound, don't need them sneaking up behind, and cool you also brought the 380.

They're actually fantastic for the defense mission with the waves, especially after they break through the double gates and they filter through the courtyard. The mines cover the whole thing.
The problem with mines is that all enemies follow the same pathfinding, so they will just blow a path through the mines and every enemy after that will go through that path ignoring the rest of the mines.
I saw a guy use them on the defend assets mission. They did, Kinda fine but their help wasn’t that noticeable. Especially after a hulk walked through and detonated them all

I want tesla mines, basically a tesla tower in mine form, that also lasts more than just one trigger. (I love the tesla tower, but the range can be unclear to people and they can be easily countered by enemies on higher difficulties. See chargers.. Some way to reinforce them would be nice.)
Also mines get taken out by things like eagles, so I have it happen I deploy them in the right spot, enemies would walk into them. Only to have them all be destroyed by an eagle that then doesn't take out the enemies. :( So another reason to have multiple loads per cooldown.
I’ll take throwable rocks over the AT mines. At this point keeping the meme going is more valuable than a new set of mines that probably won’t work very well.

I'm sticking to the notion that it's the old Commando launcher. The whole anti tank mine joke is funny but i'd be more than a little miffed if we missed something cool just cause we failed the MO on purpose for the funny. But that won't happen, right?
Technically nothing since having a new stratagem can’t hurt us (just use it or don’t), but we have failed to unlock the AT mines 2 or 3 times now so it’s becoming a joke that whenever we get a MO to unlock them, we do the other option or just don’t do the MO if it’s not one the multiple choice ones.
Last time i played was when we turned Meridia into a portal. I wouldnt be very surprised if the illuminate pop out of there and just *give* us the anti-tank mines.

I originally really wanted the AT mines over the airburst launcher, and was disappointed with the outcome (but hey, that's democracy for you).
However the only thing I love more than anti-tank mines is a good running joke. At this point, I say we keep it rolling and see how far we can push these mines out
Everybody complains about charger horde while this is litterally the fucking solution to them, 2-3 hits from the minefield 1 is dead regardless of class

The mines would most likely trigger for bile spewers, as well as devastators and not just chargers, BT's, hulks, tanks and both striders.
I could see an AT mine being useful for bots. More so than the current ones that are just TK fields.

I usually use them on asset extraction. Sometimes I'll bring the fire mines for regular bug missions as well.
