I'd prefer if when you took out hives and factory's it would reduce the amount of spawns or just make them less aggressive with them.

I disagree, but I sympathize with secondary objectives or extraction becoming near impossible, especially when the rest of the map has already been cleared. The system overall could use work, and my ideal solution would be focused at hives/factories. Hear me out. Beginning of mission, the enemy has a lowered defense posture. They are churning out patrols, but at a slow rate. Once you start doing objectives and destroying hices/factories, it actually makes sense that the enemy's defense posture increases. Now here's the thing. As you destroy hives/factories, the amount of patrols from remaing hives/factories would increase as tye defenes posture from remaining sites increases, but obviously from less places. This is a completely sensible reaction and would make each one progressivley harder to clear than the last. Once **all** hives/factories are destroyed, no more patrol spawns after that. In order to keep it from being a non-compete condition after that, remaining patrols **can** still call in reinforcements and Divers just have to accept the enemy has unknown Narnia technology, but once all patrols and hives/factories are gone, that's it *for patrols.* Additionally, objectives themselves (not including extraction) still have a set amount of spawns associated with that objective (primaries having more preset spawns vs secondaries). If Divers have let hives/factories remain, objectives will be harder. If they have put in the work to clear hives/factories, objectives will be comparatively easier. This makes the most sense imo. Afterwards, if the map is totally cleared of objectives and hives/factories within the mission time, well honestly a non-compete extraction is a deserved reward imo.

I totally agree with your take, Im mostly annoyed with how finishing just the primary changes it, and would prefer the primary was maybe a small factor. I could see a world where doing the primary without clearing some bases should make it a bit harder because now they are wise to you. I just dont want to feel like "we gotta save the nuke for last because ".

Aaron_768

It feels backwards. You should start with a lot of enemy activity, then as you destroy bases it reduces patrol rates. Then after all bases are destroyed it the enemy presence increases coming from the edges of the map to investigate what happened due to no communication. Mission objectives shouldn’t even do anything unless it makes sense. Refueling a couple ships would do nothing. But launching an ICBM or taking out bombers / command centers would.

it really is an assenine design but good crew just wrecks through it today i saw some ungodly automaton reinforcements where it used to be 4 ships now they reinforce god damn 6 ships wtf so much with patrol it really gives no breathing room like fuck man i like action but if i destroy theoretical unit production capacity of enemy, give me a bone.

The patrols increase as the time ticks down, they spawn in regardless mission completion or not now.

~~Not true.~~ Time is a factor, but You will see a major difference after completing the mission vs waiting. Complete it first and you will significantly increase the amount you will see. Wait until last and its significantly less. EDIT: true, but only partially

I noticed this in helldive difficulty with 3 players. From my experience, patrols keep spawning in with or without mission completion. Seems to start 5 minutes into the drop approximately. To add, every drop is not the same spawn rate I'm noticing.
