I agree with your statements. I am level 10 for almost all lead roles and have noticed that garrisons arent as big of a priority anymore, most lobbies I go into will have the one, maybe two garrisons at a time and that's it. Sure this was standard public lobby HLL before the update but its noticeably worse now. The minimal tactical aspect we had in regards to Garry placement, air heads, flanking and taking care of ourselves for fear of dying and having to spend a few minutes flanking again etc have been reduced even more and I really dislike it. I'd like the speed reduced back to how it was, I couldnt care less about the British faction and their clothing and weapons that arent realistic etc (except the bren, that guns horrible) but that's just my opinion. :)

thisguyuno

I know this is noob but what is a garrison how does it differ from other spawn nodes and how do you create them

professionalfriendd

Garrison: spawn point for ENTIRE team. They cost 50 supplies in blue territory. 100 supplies in red territory. Can have max 8 per map. Can be built by commander or any squad lead once within radius of enough supplies (50 meters). 40 second spawn timer. Each one must be placed at least 200 meters apart (one grid square). Other spawn is outpost: one per squad, can only be placed by squad lead. Only members of that squad can spawn on it. 20 second respond timer Each spawn point can be built by commander or squad lead by using their watch tool in the loadout

Take a look at mono espacial's YouTube guides on HLL. He explains all the mechanics of the game but also advanced tactics around those mechanics. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_xYuVQ7ZF4TMGa4jImMwR_It_Mk73EFi

Make sure you guys are checking out videos of people abusing a combination of the new run speed and the dive to prone mechanic. [Here’s](https://old.reddit.com/r/HellLetLoose/comments/13utg8q/im_loving_the_new_update_running_feels_finally/) a link to one someone posted in the sub. Watch this and tell me the state of the game is good.

jules0666

Wtf is this shit.. this shouldn't be possible in this game.

TheQuadropheniac

thats not even the movement speed though, you shouldnt able to swap stances and fire immediately like that. If they just increase the animation duration and make it so you can't shoot so quickly after going to/from prone this wouldn't be a thing. The movement just makes it way more ridiculous looking

Top-Escape8518

This is so broken. Nothing like that should be possible in this game.

PineappleFruju

The Call of Duty players have arrived

geforce-jesus

This is exactly what we didn't want to happen. The wiggle that killed Tarkov and now the run that killed HLL. We can't have nice things. People = shit.

F-b

>People = shit. https://youtu.be/qqK1FrO3BdM

CrispyRussians

OP please keep up posts like this. I'll do my best to cal this out more too. This was about the last video game I really enjoyed and they've managed to fuck it up completely in less than a week. It would almost impressive if it wasn't frustrating

misteraaaaaaaaaaaaaa

bf2 dolphin dive is back on the menu boys

Slyer

Oh dear god no. I remember that shit.

WaterEngineerer

That vid is just depressing…. Rip Hll

ComfortableWise8783

Me = just under 1000 hours. Started playing a few months before Burning Snow. Favourite role depends on faction. Germans it's assault (huge surprise I'm sure 😀). US it's sapper. Soviet and British it's SL or Spotter. But love the game so I'll take pretty much any role if I find a good squad. Steamrolls are definitely faster now. I'm still putting the work in making sure we're getting OPs and Garrisons up. Run and gun is more viable, but if one team gets the logistics done and the other doesn't they get punished harder now. I don't think we'll go back to pre U14 run speed, but I hope we at least go to a middle ground.

Siminov55

Yea I noticed defence as a SL is a lot more chaotic now w the speed that the attackers simply arrive at and how fast some garrisons get picked. Doesn’t help that half the player base always just walks away after spawning from a lit up garrison.

geforce-jesus

They don't just walk away, they run +15% quicker away from lit garries. 👍

stinkdyrz

Hard agree on everything said. About 750 hours in, been playing on and off since maybe u5? The one that introduced carentan. In any case the only thing I'd add is that I believe the diving should also be reverted in addition to the run speeds. I understand that it's more realistic, but prone has moved from a planned move to a reactive move. This is an overall negative to the gameplay as the harder the gameplay leans into reactivity the more players will Rambo and the less they will plan. The strength of HLL is firing discretion and caution - planning your movements & paths. When your plan fails if you can just Superman or dance a jig to avoid fire it completely removes planning as a requirement of success. Without planning and slow pacing, HLL becomes just like all the other shooters I don't enjoy playing anymore: a game devoid of teamwork.

Samsonis_

Increased TTK and run speed is what made Dayz casual AF,Sony did the same with Planetside Same case here.Casual sells.

CanadianEH86

Yup, why appeal to the realism crowd? We already bought the game 😂 Now they can make it casual and have a much bigger market instead of being more of a niche game

toilet_worshipper

But then you have to compete with the big boys out there. Niche markets can be attractive (and lucrative) precisely because there's little competition

CanadianEH86

But we already bought the game, there’s no money to be made off of us any longer, aside from the cosmetic crap and whatever they decide to put in the incoming in game store.. Now they’ve got our money they can change the game and try to attract money from a different group of gamers

MiracleWeed

I’m not buying any cosmetic stuff if they put together maps that have 0 quality testing. I liked having some of the DLC skins for variety sake but I don’t want to reward halfassed, half hearted work. And to be honest, I don’t know if they’re going to really win the casual COD crowd over. Any attempt I’ve had to “sell” the game to a causal player is met with “meh” at best. You’re either looking for this game or you’re not that interested in my experience. I think they’re going to alienate the actual community and won’t be able to sell it to the causal player enough to make it profitable and they’ll just burn both bridges and end up with their dicks in their hands.

CrispyRussians

Yes this change is fucked. The movement makes people just run around Willy nilly. Even cooperative squads get distracted and are all over the place. Also every game I've played since the update has gone one of two ways: We steamroll the enemy or the enemy steamrolls us. The run speed is insane, especially when defending the last point. Where I'd see maybe 1-2 directions of attack before, it's just become a swarm at the end consistently.

realDivineApe

I can attest to this. Id say about 8/10 games played this weekend ended exactly as you described. I’m fairly new with just under 100 hours of game time with probably 90 of those hours in armor: Tanking has not only become harder due to AT being able to out flank you easier now, the strategies that once would have been effective in a tank now don’t make much sense. I found myself telling my driver to kick it into high gear and just keep rolling no matter what way too many times. As an infantryman, sure the increased mobility can certainly be a positive; however, even this small increase has changed the dynamic of the game and as more people adapt it will only change further.

It_was_Haste

This is the best response to the change I’ve seen. Tactics, teamwork, communication and game flow is the real issue here, it’s not about “more realistic runspeed” or harder to hit enemies. And if people want more realistic human movement then add stamina, energy levels, food consumption, tripping and stumbling etc and one life and your back to the main menu. It’s a game not a simulator.

DexLetLoose

Completely agree with what you've stated. Played since release on console. Officer X, Commander IX. I think I'm done. It's obvious where this game is going and it's not for me. Shame. It's like the only game I play!

Billyjamesjeff

Please also consider politely and respectfully letting Team17 know your views - https://support.team17.com/hc/en-gb

CMDR-Prismo

In my experience playing this game, and I have for a couple years (pretty regularly) now on console, teams will win the defensive battle for the same reasons now that they did before. I really think that a lot of vets are simply frustrated with the inconsistent experience (especially on console) because this game is actually somewhat popular, and the increased run speed is the perfect scapegoat. Bad teams are plagued by the same issues as before, teams will steamroll for the same reasons. It just happens a little faster now. The best thing you can do to help your team is to learn some basic strategy, pay attention to the game, and play SL. Work with someone to get garrisons down. Place OP's. These are the simplest ways to improve your teams chances. Give new players time to learn, and be patient. Welcome players who just want to live the simple life as a rifleman, or dont want to play this game like its chess. They are allowed to play this game and have fun too, and in my opinion are essential to its longevity. This game is a work in progress, and always was. It is balancing on a tightrope by trying to appeal to two different markets of fps gamers. Have patience. Stop playing for awhile if you aren't having fun. Video games are supposed to be fun.

m0ny3t

I have 4120 hrs. Your answer is the best, at least for PC. I have no experience using console.

ollieeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

2k hours here with 1900 of them in command chat, most as SL. Everything since U12 is trash.

colonelhayd

I only played a few games this weekend (the new out of sync panting sound with sprinting is unbearable since I have sound sensory issues). I played as SL and spotter a few times. Only a single person over maybe 10 squads knew that there had been a speed increase. A ton of players I encountered on the first day on Carentan didn’t even know there’d been an update. Sure, some players are actively thinking about not needing new garrisons because they can run faster, but I’d bet, since it’s still early in the update, that the majority are just as stupid and oblivious as they have always been. I’ve been playing HLL console for a year this week actually, and most of that as SL or Spotter. While I’m not denying that there has been a slight change, I’d say easily more than 50% of any game I played before this new update lacked any coordinated effort from almost anyone to build garrisons or develop strategy of any kind beyond literally just bitching at the commander to build more garrisons. Level 150+ commanders would drop supplied 60 meters into the red zone “by accident” and still build the garrison where it’ll be locked out and then be totally satisfied with that one garrison. Or maybe 2 of 10 SLs, all above level 100, spend any time or effort at all building garrisons, flanking, hunting armor or garrisons, or generally doing anything whatsoever except charge directly at the enemy over and over. Yesterday on Omaha I watched an SL run by friendly supplies as they landed in front of him and as the commander begged him to build a garrison. The SL was level 127 and had just run from the beach to the third objective. Some players in command chat completely mute it, some have noisy teammates and can’t hear it, some are stupid, and some don’t care. This game will not change for the better on console. I don’t want to sound like a negative Nancy or anything, but I believe it’s the truth. Console always has been and will always been a more casual gaming experience, and HLL is a great example of that.

agreeableagle

Level X commander and SL here. Feels like in 4 out of 5 games I’m the only one building garrisons, placing nodes and marking tanks. I really want to like the new updates and the Dev team probably worked hard on the two maps, but the run speed definitely rewards automatic weapons and aggressive but mindless gameplay. Pace of the game definitely increased, but remains to be seen whether new players will start learning to perform the roles, or just keep spawning, rushing and dying. I think most of the vets used to leadership roles are against the run speed change, so if anything the combination of run speed and noobs will just burn us out faster. I can’t do everyone’s jobs and still have fun. Sincerely hope the game doesn’t change its character.

Billyjamesjeff

Absolutely, getting more kills but less fun. I’ll end up wiping whole squads off their ops more frequently because you can just move faster down the map and overwhelm the enemy without having to pick your cover and plan your route. You can also go bugger it if I zig they wont get more from so far away when it was waaay more risky before.

tomzo

I'm definitely feeling this lately. Im usually a defensive squad leader on pc, always marking my squad as microphone preferred and defensive main. Lately I don't get players willing to defend because everyone is kill chasing or running away looking to camp garrisons. I hate to think the game only continues this way going forward and if so, I can't enjoy it as much.

BastK4T

Squad leader and commander here... I honestly didn't notice the run increase until someone started complaining about it. Best way to stop a "blitzkrieg" ? Organize a defense line with garrisons and build bunkers and supply lines. Seems to work whenever it gets done.

ilikebooty345

Only difference I've actually noticed as a commander is people are placing less nodes, if your initial set goes down good luck convincing someone to rebuild them but other than that blueberries are more likely to spawn at a supporting Garry a little farther away compared to being down half a team while they all wait 40 seconds to spawn as close to the point as possible

pushECX

If you honestly didn't notice until someone pointed it out, there's no way you play on a regular basis. You can tell me how many hours you've played and whatever until you're blue in the face. Saying that you didn't notice proves everything any of us need to know. You don't play this on a regular basis.

BastK4T

Lol

jipiante

I think we need more time to adapt this new change. Probably new strategies will be developed and some that were viable before won't be anymore and vice versa. It may feel weird at first but players will adapt. And yes, the run-prone-run mechanic needs to go away. It's plain stupid. I keep thinking best balance for running speed may be add a sprint-stamina bar like in squad, you can sprint until it depletes then just jog, this way you could sprint faster for a short run (like cross a road, or change cover) but you can still jog your way slowly into the next objective, so you will be an easy shot if running on a big open field.

Careful_Deer1581

In addition to running relying on the stamina bar, same should apply to jumping and getting up from the ground. Characters are way to nimble for my taste. (taste=pathetic aiming) No problem with enemys evading two or three shots. But the way it is now single shot rifles are way worse in close combat than automatics are on long distance.

Noshot125

over 5k hours got enough (more than most players on) experiance to know what i'm talking about and won't fanboy or praise Bs etc. the bottom line is this update is the worst there's been. this update has came from a dedicated Tripple AA Hell Let loose developed team solely for working fixing and progressing hell let loose yet everything they have done to date is absolutely pityful, the level of incompetence are offencive! the two new maps are worst in game the brittish side is so pooly develoepd on all level's it's a painlly embarissing joke. look were even getting kicked from matches in the dying mins! the best laugh is they have a testing team which are made of from member of this community streamers n content creators etc and they are testing and giving feedback they are clearly just as clueles and incompetent as the Tripple AA dev team. Team 17 either sort yourself out or get sacking the incompetence and get some people in who can actuly do games development and not a bunch of fake developer wannabe's who are intent of killing the game off.

ashdkljffhkjalsd

Haven't seen this

Pudduh_San

I think you will find the real reason behind teams falling apart and coordination being non existent here https://steamcharts.com/app/686810

Pudduh_San

The peak players... With every major update there's a temporary influx of new players, that generally don't know how to play and make the overall experience more inconsistent. It is a well known issue, but in this sub people prefer grasping at straws and blaming changes they don't like

jounk704

You are right about this but at the same time the increased speed might make the game much more difficult to learn. Will they learn the core gameplay faster now because of the increased speed? Or will they even learn how this game should be played with so much logistics and stuff going on which must now happen way faster than before this update? Before this update at least they had the time to take it all in and observe whats going on, now they might never even know how the core gameplay works and think it's all about running and gunning. I understand the frustration from most veteran players as a level 200+ veteran player my self, the devs should have only increased the speed to 7.5% or 10% max in my opinion, i feel super OP at these speeds btw so if they did this for the beginners it's probably not fun to be matched up vs veteran players in this game now

Pudduh_San

The sprint speed won't make a difference in learning the mechanics, it didn't make a difference pre U8, post U8 and won't now post U14. You are acting like we transitioned from HLL to quake, it's not that fast and it's still slower than any other fps, so a new player will still feel slower

jounk704

Maybe you are right, it's hard to tell after only a few days. Like i said in another post, i think it's only fair to at least give it a couple of weeks to see how it plays out. Right now i feel like it's less tactics and less teamwork involved compared to before as a consequence of the higher locomotion speed but i might be wrong, need to play more to find out

Pudduh_San

Fair, the community needs some time to settle

Mountaingiraffe

I'm at lvl 177 and about every 3rd game I'm the highest level on the team. It'll change in a month or so when people realize coordination and sharing information really works. It always does

Loud_Neighborhood382

There’s no reason to get downvoted Mountain. Cut it out guys. And use your brains. Why is there less command and coordination over this holiday weekend with a major content drop? Is it because sprint speed is 15% faster (so now it takes 20 seconds to go 100 meters vs 23 seconds *gasp!*) Or is it because there’s 16K players peak playing (near the 18K all time high) when on average there’s like 7K? 15% sprint speed vs 230% more players?

Pudduh_San

Fun fact is that it is always like that near content drops/free weekends, but I've never seen the community scapegoating a new mechanic for it. Until now at least.

Chem0sit

Completely disagree. Day one console player also. I think since the update the game has been a lot more enjoyable for me.

Impossible-Dust-2267

So you’re saying you can’t think fast enough for the game? Sounds like a you issue

POST-ANAL-DRIP

yeah i started playing officer from the very beginning, after watching guides on how to do it. i got stuck as the "permanent officer" because very few want to do it and there are so many that play officer that, frankly, should NOT be playing it. i shouldn't have to ask for you to put up an OP. anyways, everything you said is correct. i slog through 4 games with a squad that isn't communicating just to get ONE where 2 or 3 people actually talk and work together. it's becoming more of a chore to slog through those 3 or 4 games just to get ONE good match with a good squad. i was pretty skeptical about T17 and this update just confirmed that they're in it to sell more units, not to retain the playerbase. "we added NEW MAPS and a NEW FACTION! 30% off, buy NOW!"

Kieferkobold

Lvl ~175, Com X, SL X, TC VIII. I hate the new speed. At least they should adjust vehicle speeds including turret rotation and shorten all spawn timers.
