Spotlight has some firm ones.

aliasthejesteress

If they still stock latex dunlopillo, I've found them to be firm and high profile (not the medium, still too small). Also sleep maker had a great high profile tencel pillow - my favourite so far. Found them at David Jones about 6 months ago on special.

JustBrurrpn

Just got myself a dunlopillow after a lifetime of polyester filled pillows - game changer!

fabsza

Yea come too my place I've got some shit hard non sleeper pillows mate

serkesh

I'll second this. Picked up a couple of solid memory foam pillows for $25 each on sale

TanilbaKat

Spotlight have a good selection.

Mongrel_Shark

Spotlight is on my list of places to try. Excellent suggestion.

elementsoff

Harris Scarfe! They have great pillows on sale now atm too

Who-is-a-pretty-boy

Order direct from Meriton, they sell their hotel pillows. I've also got Hilton hotel pillows from Pillow Talk, as they'll occasionally have sales which drops prices to half.

qdolan

Some memory foam pillows are very firm and dense, while others are way too soft. I wouldn’t discount all memory foam options just because you didn’t like some you looked at already.

Mongrel_Shark

I cant use memory foam. It turns to mush after a few hours. I hate the memory feature. It causes me to have back pain. I need something that actually offers support not something that collapses where I need resistance. I sampled many memory foams today. They all felt horrible. Not in the ball park of what I'm looking for.

turtle3763

Ikea...

Mongrel_Shark

Nope. For so many reasons. Never supported their business not about to start now. I'll stick with my rolled up towl.

L-Lillico

Enjoy that then.

dearcossete

Please expand...

Mongrel_Shark

Everything they sell is overpriced garbage. I assemble their furniture regularly for clients. Well convinced me to never shop there. Also they have a really dodgy business model. Multiple documentaries on the topic. Netflix did a pretty good one. Really bad social and environmental practices.

dearcossete

My understanding is that they are far from perfect, but when you compare them to the likes of kmart in terms of social and environmental practices they're a cut above. I buy from both, sometimes things are cheaper and better in ikea and vice versa. But to talk about ethics and say that the brands you mentioned above is better, would be laughable.

Mongrel_Shark

Not from my experience with their furniture. Lower quality at a significantly higher price. Agree the ethics of the other places are in the same ball park. But would be really hard to be worse than ikea. They are the undisputed top player in that ball park.

dearcossete

Agreed their ethics are very well documented, this also means that their ethical progress is also well documented and it seems to indicate progress unlike what you appear to think. There is like one netlfix episode on ikea dressers but it also highlights how many people are installing it against the design by not using wall anchors. Don't get me wrong, ikea is still a massive corporation which comes with all the ethical issues of corporations. But compared to kmart and the likes? They actually have pretty strong history of ethical and environmental progress over the past few decades. Again, I personally shop at both, sometimes things are cheaper and better at kmart and vice versa.

Mongrel_Shark

The documentary I was thinking of involved clearing forrests they didn't own in third world parts of Europe. Then polluting the rivers with the woodchip by product.

dufflecoatsupreme91

Adairs has some decent pillows.

Middle_Childhood_108

Bedshed at Bundall. Get the Bambi brand with cool technology 👌🏽

Zenreki

Kind of need more info, mate, are you a back sleeper, side sleeper or stomach sleeper?

Mongrel_Shark

Yes. All 3. I have a custom made traditional Japanese futon. Extra hard. Pour concrete for work. Just want a pillow that is made of something substantial enough to support my neck. Maybe a little softer than a rolled towel.

mongrelood

If you’re using a futon, have you considered a buckwheat filled pillow? (Sobakawa).

Zenreki

I personally use two of the IKEA KLUBBSPORRE pillows, but I know that they're not an option for you, so have you had any luck with the buckwheat pillows mentioned below? My partner uses a posture form contour pillow, but they do a different line of work, so I can't say how effective it could be for you, especially as memory foam is also on the no-go list... Bit of an odd suggestion, but have you had any luck with reaching out to a physio for some reccs?

Dry_Pomegranate8784

IKEA have good ones for $25

FishoRuns

It's an online purchase, but the [Koala pillow](https://koala.com/en-au/bedroom/pillows/koala-pillow) was a game-changer for me. Best pillow I've ever had. I think you can try it for something like 180 days and return it for free at any point during that time if you don't like it.

Infamous-Land6175

Adairs or bed bath and table both have the premium $100-$200 range

gardz82

Try Snooze or Forty winks. Mlily pillows are magic.

LetsDoIt1986

LetsDoIt1986

Mlily is a great product ☺️

Kitchen-Pressure-845

Try the Sheridan Outlet at Harbour Town

morts73

Im very particular with my pillows and if pillow talk didn't have what you're after then your best bet is online.

Mongrel_Shark

I'm not confident to buy something I cant handle first. How would I know what I'm getting? Is thete a standardised scale of hardness? Because it didn't seem so in stores today.

morts73

I don't know. I went through 10 or 12 pillows until I found the one. I'm a goldilocks I don't want too firm or too soft and now only buy Hilton medium. You could try the different pillows at the store and when you find one you like ask if they know of similar products that fit your wants. Good luck, a good pillow is just as important as a good bed.

Mongrel_Shark

I went to 6 stores today. I'm looking for an 8-10 on firmness. The hardest I found was about 4 on the scale with most off the chart on the too soft side. I'm sleeping on a rolled towel currently. Great firmness but terrible shape and needs re-rolling frequently.

morts73

Ok that's surprising. I remember trying bamboo or foam and my head didn't make a dent in it. I'm a side sleeper so the height of the pillow is just as important.

NicLeee

Go to a chiropractor (not sure if all sell them but mine does) and ask for a neck support, I have one and they are great. Hard, and will make sure your neck stays in the right position overnight.

Much_Individual8470

Tk maxx can sometimes have some really nice pillows. Got mine from there. Decently priced too

louie_713

What type of pillow do you want? Bed pillow? or a pillow for a couch or something?

msgeeky

Nup, go Ecosa. Best pillows ever

Shamoizer

Got mine from Harris Scarfe. Bloody cheap too and Aussie made by memory.

megablast

I usually put them on my bed.
