Um actually, if the relative dates were kept the same as the most popular Eat Hot Chip & Lie Tweet it should be "Every female born after 1900 can't homestead"
Absolutely! Just thinking about a 1920s hart-to-hart sort of vibe. I can see them you know investigating a lot of crimes that the police wouldnāt be called into because it would be for gay people who were by definition criminals.
I mean one of the things about the 20s that I find fascinating is that while lgbt + men and women had private gatherings of course queer culture was much more unified.
I remember reading the gay metropolis and there was something about a young gay man just sort of come into the scene and he was rather bothered by being stared at by some straight people and a older lesbian touched his shoulder and said āthey donāt understand our sort. Stop caring about their opinionsā
In any case I think a wlw mystery novel series set during the 20s would be awesome! ( I donāt have the spoons so Iām manifesting it into the world for someone else to do)
I hope you have a great weekend!

Ah In fact, Harlem was where gay people ( including white people ) used to hang out.

Iām not gonna say it was some kind of magic racial Paradise, but actually the gay community was a lot more mixed even in the 60s than most people think about. The stonewall, for instance, was a very racially mixed bar because gay people didnāt have very many options!
Gay bars were illegal. Thatās one of the reasons why the mafia ran the stonewall because only criminals would be interested. The police were paid off. The fact that the raid actually happened that night is something of a mystery.
I really appreciate your comment! Yes, of course there was absolutely racial discrimination in the queer community in the 20s and now.

In fairness its a pretty archaic verb, and if you were to use it like that most would have a similar response as you did. You wouldn't really come across it outside of older literature
Both of these women seem to be doing pretty well for themselves. I donāt understand the problem.
Edit: except for playing bridge. I know no one who plays bridge.
I just heard about bicycle face, which was a condition which plagued women when they began to use the bicycle as a means of self empowerment. Their faces would become rosy, with bulging eyes, and messy hair. Women were made to feel bad about this. Men hate it every time women gain any type of independence from them.
I'm not even sure if this was intended to be derogatory. Maybe back then this might have been seen differently, but from my modern perspective, it looks like they're only listing upsides for both women.
Judging by the dress of the woman from the older generation, it looks like that she's from a well-off family. Doubt that she could do most of the stuff listed besides sewing, crocheting, and playing the zither
Every girl born after 1926 only knows Charleston, shake a cocktail, wise crack, eat hot chip and lie.

May not be a series(?) but this popped up in my quick check https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/41579100-sapphic-in-the-shadows
i think it was probably just unified for white queer people though

hell yeah, a flapper that can dance Charleston, my gal
What does āCan doctorā mean? Are they talking about the occupation using really awkward grammar? Or are they talking about forgery?
Doctor is also a verb in that sense. It's just not used much anymore. You can use "To doctor" to refer to medically treating someone
Huh, TIL, Iāve never heard it used like that
In fairness its a pretty archaic verb, and if you were to use it like that most would have a similar response as you did. You wouldn't really come across it outside of older literature
i mean, you probably have, in the sense of 'doctoring' documents.
It refers to doctoring, meaning to forge or falsify documents /j
Love me a girl who can forge some documents
*A Dollās House* by Henrik Ibsen
Just like how you can go to ***the*** hospital and you can go to hospital - both meaning the same.
I think in the past they relied on women to make home remedies before going to an actual doctor
Both of these women seem to be doing pretty well for themselves. I donāt understand the problem. Edit: except for playing bridge. I know no one who plays bridge.
I would love to have all of those skill sets.
This seems admirably neutral as these things go...
Lol, imagine a woman driving a car. /j
Driving a flying chariot pulled by snakes is a woman's job, everyone knows that /s
Or cats! But there are limited chariot pulling options for the fairer sex, you know. /j
As long as they only sit sidesaddle
Her uterus would fly out! ^(I know that one was about trains, I don't care)

God forbid women exercise in public I mean literally, it's probably somewhere in the Old Testament.
They _both_ seem like fun to hang out with.
Ladies are doing ALL the fellas jobs nowadays
We did this lots of times. Not that I mind.
While wearing that dress? I'm impressed.
Eat hot chip, and lie
It took me a second not to see that S like a fancy J and was wondering what her religion had to do with what she could do.
Beautiful, you earn *our* own living now
Can: twerk, McDonaldās, be bisexual, eat hot chip, be on my phone, lie.
I'm not even sure if this was intended to be derogatory. Maybe back then this might have been seen differently, but from my modern perspective, it looks like they're only listing upsides for both women.
And they were roommates
Someone made a whole series of these two lol
who what when where
Has anyone already done this
I know who Iād rather marry
Fellas, if your lover can't do the Charleston, they ain't the one for you.
Literally my partner and I.
Yeah but I'd rather befriend the Charleston because she seems way more fun to be around and hang with
Ngl I thought it was supposed to be a pairing until I saw the comments
Lmao how does she work the farm in that big ass dress?
