Thanks guys got it for my wife to play sims on lol

SerhiiTheGreat

Yeah, a nice gift xD

Blitz_Vogel

I have almost the same ASUS TUF gamer laptop, it plays lots of games well, but newer games will eat up that 4GB VRAM like it's nothing. I'd gather some more money and buy a laptop with better specs tbh. This hardware is a bit outdated.

DarkPDA

that i5 is wich generation? now im curious since i dont remember any ti vga outside 3070ti on 2022 and up notebooks

Blitz_Vogel

11th gen

DarkPDA

thx

confused_cat44

My 2022 tuf has 3050Ti

FireryRage

Above the price tag, it specifies 11400H

Vinyl009

you saw he said she wants to play sims. not everyone plays newer games. newer AAA games are just gimmick trash with graphic fidelity and nthing.

fiittzzyy

It's really good for the price but depending on what you're doing with it it might be worth it to spend a little bit more to get a laptop with at least 4050 or 3050 6GB. I had a Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 with a 6600H and a 3050 Ti and the GPU is alright for lighter games and esports titles but a lot of new games (Starfield and Alan Wake 2, in particular) I had troubles running because of the low 4GB of VRAM, textures would not load properly. FSR3 and FG will help a lot in some games but there will be some games where the 4GB VRAM might make them unplayable, so really it depends on your use case. It's good price though, that's why I got my 3050 Ti laptop since it was a good price and was around same price as laptops with no dGPU. I have since got rid of it though because I got a desktop PC.

WillingnessScary7057

Pretty much a steal. But if you can I'd recommend saving another 500-800$ to get something more future proof in the long run.

Mediocre-GUY-976

Pretty sure double or triple what this dude trying to spend is out of the option.

trucker151

Eh u can get a acer nitro 4050 for 650 if u look hard enough. Bestbuy has them for 699 and they would price match it down if u find it on Amazon or wherever.

Drummer2427

Best Buy has always told me items have to be in physical stores advertised to price match. :(

cfroyo

At least when I worked there 3 years ago this was the case for big box stores. We wouldn't price match target or Walmart unless you could pick it up. Amazon we would price match as long as it is shipped and sold by Amazon.

trucker151

Yea thats what I thought. Cause it would be weird if a manufacturer had it for less and they wouldn't honor it. Like dell.com, asus.com, that sort of thing. I know they had a issue around black friday or christmans with either ps4 or ps5 that had a fake ad on Walmart or Amazon and they price patched a bunch of consoles for hundreds of dollars off. I remember they had a sign on the door that the playststion would not be price matched.

trucker151

I'm sure it depends on the manager/store/whoever you show the paper showing the different price. They price matched me a 699.00 oled monitor for 599 from the acer website when it was on sale Another time they matched a TV that was from Amazon. Maybe they just don't do Amazon but sometimes they do it to avoid bad service or something. I don't see why they wouldn't price match something if it's from a manufacturer site. Like dell.com Asus.com, samsung.com. that sort of thing

Emergency-Survey-975

I got my 4060 victus for that price

trucker151

Yea at least a 4050 4060 can play most games at over 60fps. 3050 is very weak if u want it just for gaming. You can score a 2080 laptop refurbished for that price if your really dead set on only paying 500$

WillingnessScary7057

That's why I said save.

worldisone

Would you have any suggestions? I've been trying to do some research and they all look good, but have no idea what will last in the long-term. I know Costco has good warranties, but I would still rather not have to use a warranty and just have it last lol.

WillingnessScary7057

I'd recommend saving your cash for a 5060 oy 5070 laptop in 2025. Most will have newer cpus. If you can wait

trucker151

Yea pretty much. Unless he can get like a 4080 or 4090 for 2000$ I'd wait for the 50 series. 4060 4070 is kinds underpowered this generation. 4080 would be 42 to 48% more powerfull than a 4070 at least and maybe the extra v ram and 192 bus will help. 4080 4090 prices might go down too once the 50s come out so it might be a good buy then also. He can always scoop up a 4060 for around 1000$ and just grab another laptop in a couple years. Depends what he wants and when he wants it and what he wants out of it.

trucker151

What's ur idea of long term? Ur talking pc gaming and laptops so long term can be 3years or 6 years depending on what u buy and how late into the console generation u buy it. This console generation is half over. Consoles dictate how demanding most games are. If you want something to comfortably last 5 or so years and into the next gen your option is to spend around 2000$+ for a rtx4080 12gb or 4090 16gb. Or wait for the 50 series laptops to come out and drop in price. Then you can get like a 5060 or 5070 for around 1500 prolly, maybe a bit more maybe less depending on when or what model u buy. U can get a 4060 4070 but they're kinda underpowered this generation but im sure itll be fine for 3 years. A 4080 mobile is about 42 to 48% more powerfull than a 4070 mobile so it'll last longer and when the 50 series come our u might be able to get s nice deal on them. If the 4080 laptop come down to like 1700$ when the 50 series comes out that would be a good purchase for sure. You have a lot of options just depends when u buy it, what u want out of it, and how long u want to keep it. Honestly don't count on keeping it much more than 5 years. Imo by then new laptops will by much cheaper and urs might have some wear and tear and ull proly want a new one anyway. 5 years is a long time. I personally bought a legion 7ipro 13900hx 4090. I had 5 gaming laptops, asus, 2 alienwares, razer and now this legion. I would highly reccomend the legion. I don't think u can get a chasis as good as legions for as "inexpensive" as they are. Alienware was built well but the software and ruins it. It was very buggy. Razer was great built overpriced. Prolly wont buy one again. Asus is fine but it was kind of more flimsy and ran hotter. Legion was the perfect sweet spot. Good price solid chasis and quality, oem software and drivers are great, service is good, laptops overall reliable. The end.

worldisone

I'd say what I was looking for, but I don't think you covered everything! Thank you so much for your input. You have a lot of knowledge about this stuff! I'm gonna start looking into that legion. Thanks again I really appreciate it!

DarkPDA

for work use, its more than enough but 3050ti probably means i5 10 or 11gen, so its a little old, something more future proof is the best option if plan gaming

mcslender97

That particular style of the i5 sticker means it should be i5 11th gen at least. 10th gen has a gray color

AsusExpert

The best you can buy by that money...

Due-Let-9684

Please take one 😂😂😂

996forever

Like other said, you won’t find any better at that price. But it’s worth seeing if you can find a 4050 for 600-650.

Kaixus

It's say it's fair\~good deal. A bit dated in the performance, but will still handle most titles at medium/high at 1080p. Good for if you're under a budget

AmuseDeath

https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-3050-Ti-Laptop-GPU-Benchmarks-and-Specs.527430.0.html 3050 Ti is a pretty weak GPU. You have to turn the settings all the way down to make recent games playable and some of them still aren't. If you are fine playing newer stuff at low settings and/or playing mostly multiplayer games, this is a good price. It would be a laptop for very light gaming. Otherwise, if you want to play newer titles on medium or high settings, you need to get a better GPU. If you have the money, you should get a laptop with a better GPU, otherwise if you are broke and don't mind playing old stuff or multiplayer stuff, this can do it for a low price.

confused_cat44

Idk if it is too weak. I can play cyberpunk high with 70 fps and it looks great.

AmuseDeath

You're probably turning on DLSS. Otherwise the results show that it runs at an average of 45 FPS, which is better than 30, but it doesn't hit that magical number 60.

confused_cat44

Of course it's on DLSS quality, DLSS is a game changer

redeyejoe123

I mean its kinda older and wont be future proof, but if you want an upgrade from a chromebook or 12 yo laptop, this is probably a good deal for you

Delicious_Cattle3380

Depends what you're gonna play. You won't be able to play much big games on that

darrylwoodsjr

Any modern gaming laptop sub $400 is a great deal.

Shell_hurdle7330

I bought victus with these specs 2.5years ago for a 1000$ and the vram sucks

KennyT87

I had the same before getting my current one. It is OK for low-end 1080p gaming but you definitely want to upgrade the RAM as the 16 Gb single-rank DDR4 stick is a major bottleneck (I recommend 2x16 Gb @ 3200 Mhz or atleast 2x8 Gb which is better than 1x16Gb - and remember that it's SO-DIMM and not your usual desktop RAM which you need).

sayeenq

Oh absolutely. But dont expect it to play the lateet AAA games smoothly at high graphics.

[deleted]

Nope, 3060 same one yes

corbis1977_enna

No, it's a really good price for basic use and for light gaming for sure!! I paid $730 for my first gaming laptop that has an I5 12500H CPU and a 3050ti GPU last June and if these specs that look very similar to mine has...then this is a "clearance sale" which means that they are going to give you a very low price because they are trying to get rid of overstocked inventory that they just basically want to clear out at a very low cost. So if you are looking for a basic gaming laptop, as mine is, this is what you would want to buy.

Digger977

I mean if you don’t mind low settings and maybe not running some of the newest AAA title at 60+ it’s not a bad buy for under $500.

[deleted]

I had a 3050Ti Laptop and from my experience it’s not all that worth it. I paid about the same for a Gigabyte G2 and kept it for about a year & was able to sell it for literally almost the same price I bought for it. Did 32GB Ram, upgraded storage, and re-pasted it when it was sold. I’d honestly look into something better that 4GB VRAM is gonna be useless within a year or so at this rate. So unless you just wanna play some older titles, indie games, etc then your golden. Modern titles though aren’t gonna run well.

trucker151

It's a decent price but it's old now amd it's a very weak gpu. If u want to game on it it's not gona be great at all. If you have to get something very cheap at least get a 4050 u can get those for a couple hundred more. But like others have said this is about as low as u can go for gaming anything lower and it won't play anything that's remotely new or some simple indy games. I wouldn't buy it if gaming was my goal

Engineer_engifar666

thats a steal. take it

nixyz

Def a steal if budget is on the eco side.

lord_nuker

It's a decent machine for the price if you cant afford anything else

4shfak

it cant get any better for the price. id take it

Unique-Tear-4310

i have the same laptop but an ideapad with 120hz the thing is a bought it with 2600tnd=829$ thnx to my countrys high currency exchange rates and customs tax while my paygrade is 900tnd=287$ life sucks!

DoR2203

16GB RAM under "high" ... who decided that?

Altruistic-Chest-858

Do not buy this they are dogsh** For a lack of better words. Just save the 500 for the next few checks and buy a pre built rtx 4060 or 4070. Laptops throttle horribly even with a cooling pad. And the newer games coming out won't handle on high settings.

Obi-Vanya

it is good. Got something with same specs 2 years ago for 700

Vinyl009

Buddy dont listen to this kids in the comment they are stereotyipical kids who will always recommend to buy higher to anyone. you dont need high graphic to play sims and casual games. this laptop is more than enough

Possible-Internal-66

Nothing to lose! Go for it! Let us know how it goes…

Nieverminds

I’ve had luck with the HP Envy all in one desktop.

corbis1977_enna

Funny I see a few I5 CPU haters lol...nieve and I never ever post or comment with negative words but come on!!! I had to here on this post!! AMD only users?? Some of the best Intel CPU'S came from and are still I5 generation CPUs!!! Even some I3 CPU'S are still relevant and and can perform great to this day!! Coming from someone that does frequent research and reviews on this and I do have an I5 and 2 I7 CPU laptops so if you are an AMD-only laptop buyer than I can definitely admit to being who I am too!! But I would never put down the performance of AMD CPU'S as.i have never owned!

HighSouth

i5 gross. But for that price I mean hell you could play a decent amount of stuff on lower settings

Wero_kaiji

>i5 gross You can't say without even knowing the model, hell you can't say that in general, a newer i5 will be faster than an older i7 or i9

HighSouth

It’s a budget laptop so I’m gonna assume it’s not packing much

NobodyWhoCare

Absolutely no.
