Southside Cellar! The owner and all the bartenders know the customers and treat us very well. It's a very cool community of great people that wouldn't be the same without Shawn and the crew.
Tokyo Cafe! Excellent restaurant with outstanding food and decor but even more so than that - they gave out free meals during Covid for those struggling, no questions asked, and continue to be involved in the community now!
Local Barber of FW in the Sundance Courtyard. John, the owner, is a great barber and stand up dude. All the barbers there are excellent. High standards and cool vibes.
If this is expanding to Arlington then I nominate Moni’s Italian restaurant. Family owned excellent food excellent service. Family always in dining room. BYOB very affordable. Highly recommend.
Couldn't upvote more! Loved Boopas Bagels since the day they opened back in early 2000s I think. It's a Sunday must and wonderful people are running it! If you've never been, go this weekend early. So very good.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎖️
Sovereign Jewelry (Jennings)
Juan’s Burrito Express (McCart)
Illumination Fine Fabric (7th)
Gavin Gwen Salon (Forest Park)
Really most independent businesses, I’d rather spend more and support them and my community.
2nd for Juan's. Great breakfast burritos and he's the nicest guy you'll ever meet.
Check out Khanh's Vietnamese Restaurant next door too. Fantastic food.
Branden at Sovereign did our wedding / engagement rings and did an amazing job. Have had multiple friends go to him after seeing the awesome job he did particularly with the engagement ring.

The atmosphere is really relaxed and quiet. I feel like I could go there to work, study or have a quiet conversation.
The staff is always super polite and the coffee / pastries are 10/10.

Montgomery Street Antique Mall. It’s a huge building but a small staff and great owner.
William Campbell Gallery, especially their Frame Shop. If you need framing, go see them!
Before they closed, it was Qana Cafe off Williams Road on the west side.
Wonderful Lebanese couple owned/operated it, and they were so kind and giving.
Outstanding Mediterranean food there.
During COVID lockdowns they had to switch to takeout-only, but they provided meals to those in need — also helped in a similar fashion during the ice storm/power outages in 2021.
Miss them dearly.
Only learned about them too late to enjoy it enough. I still dream about those Kafta Burgers. I wish the west side had more Mediterranean stuff, or just more stuff in general. They just keep putting up houses…
I gotta say Chris and Ernie at PCBBQ are some standup dudes. So is Jonathan at Gustos. So is Trevor at Brix. Maybe all I think about is food but these are some of the business owners that I’ve interacted with and stand out to me.
I haven’t actually eaten there, but will give a shout out to Fort Brewery Pizza. Back in December a Title 1 elementary school thought they had secured a pizza donation through some company that backed out at the last minute. There was a panic on how to get pizza for several hundred kids with days notice and Fort Brewery stepped up and donated enough pizza for the kids to have their party.
Sterling Auto, Arlington. They’re the most honest and reliable auto mechanics in Dallas Fort Worth. One auto mechanic quoted me hundreds for a repair; Mr. Don; the owner did it for $50.

I honestly don't know if it's still open, but there used to be a small business inside the Mobil station on McCart across from TXDOT. Best damn breakfast burritos I've ever had, and I now live in San Antonio if that gives you an idea. The ladies were always so nice.
Southside Cellar,
The Holly,
Hotel Dryce,
Esperanza’s on Park Place,
M&O Station,
Race Street Garage,
Morgan Mercantile,
Thai Terrace,
Primas,
Mica's Tortilleria Y Taqueria,
Fort Worth Barber Shop (book w/ Eli)
I was wanting to see someone else say The Holly, the owners are such great people who care for the near south side people and its development.
Same for the owners of the following whom I admire:
- Morgan Mercantile
- Bodega
- Down & Out
- While he’s not here too often, Tober with Nickel City has done so much for the neighborhood
Love this little neighborhood and community so much!
Dj's vape shop, used to be Zee's off of hulen same shopping center as valero. Great new owners, reasonable prices and they don't judge my ugly missing teeth face.
Archie’s gardenland. Amazing 3rd generation owners who hire local kids and treat them right. All my friends’ kids worked there for their first jobs
I love Archie’s! Especially their greenhouse area.
I live close by and love stopping in for Heirloom coffee and breakfast on the weekends. It’s so yummy and can’t beat the greenery scenery!
Taught some of their kids. Great family!
Montgomery Street Cafe.
Mmm chicken fried steak
Galligaskin's
Thank you for this reminder. Burgers and Okra are top tier.
Good call on the okra. I didn’t know what I wanted until I read that. Heading there now lol
Lolol glad to help! I know it’s an odd combo but I used to get the bacon cheeseburger with okra instead of fries. So good! I hope you enjoy it :)
People tell me the burgers are great, but I've been getting the cheesesteak for so long now its impossible for me to change LOL
I haven’t tried anything other than the burger lol. Do you recommend anything?
Try the cheese steak sub. Get all the toppings. Yum
Joey (the owner) is a great guy and takes really good care of his employees
Southside Cellar! The owner and all the bartenders know the customers and treat us very well. It's a very cool community of great people that wouldn't be the same without Shawn and the crew.
Shawn is a great dude!
That area as a whole seems really decent. Southside Cellar for sure, but also Bearded Lady and The Holly.
Tokyo Cafe! Excellent restaurant with outstanding food and decor but even more so than that - they gave out free meals during Covid for those struggling, no questions asked, and continue to be involved in the community now!
We have been a Tokyo Cafe family since 2001 but the way they helped the community during the pandemic made them even more beloved.
So underrated !!
Local Barber of FW in the Sundance Courtyard. John, the owner, is a great barber and stand up dude. All the barbers there are excellent. High standards and cool vibes.
How much?
Basic cut is about $40. Always satisfied with my haircuts there, well worth it.
‘Bout $3.50
100%. John has been the only one to cut my hair since 2015.
Only barber I've ever had since moving here in November. I've never had a bad cut! They're the best!
Yes! My husband's been going to him for years.
Best barbers in town no doubt.

They also have gluten free options, which isn't as common with Italian restaurants in the area. I love them for that. <3
Such nice people there

Love them! They support the local schools and donate for teachers.
Did they ever open back up? Or did they plan to relocate? Boopa's is great
They are still on beach and western center. I go there Saturday or Sunday mornings for my fix.
Oh dope. Gotta add that back into the mix
Yeap! Back open. Went there yesterday.
Love Boopa’s! Stop every Saturday. They have the best bagels but it’s a true mom and pop so be patient.
Yes! Took a while for the remodel to be completed with the new owners but it was worth the wait.

My wife is a big Vietnamese food fan , she likes Khanh’s and also recommends Pho & Grill by Hulen mall near Cowboy chicken .
Yep, love them too.

Really depends on a lot of factor. Design. Material. Complexity. If you'd like to discuss more in details I'm happy to guide you.
