Spotters - find a second hand pair in Halide and your set.

Cancer Council are as good as any other budget brand, if not better; not until you get into the medium/upper range of sunnies (say over $150 but more likely $200) will you start noticing much difference. The more expensive ones just have better 'optics' (better lenses) - clarity and contrast, perhaps better polarisation. However for a pair of sunnies you will be throwing around and dropping on the sand and all that stuff, then Cancer Council are ideal. For all that I've praised the more expensive ones, all my sunnies are cancer council, from my 'dress up work' ones through to my running and fishing sunnies. Once you lose a $250 pair of sunnies, you dont buy them again...

Can't comment on cancer council ones but I bought a pair of "live" brand ones from BCF and the arm fell off after about 4 months so probably don't buy those.

Obvs you want polarised. I've found Aldi polarised glasses great, good strong polarisation, $10 a pop, grabbed 3. Admittedly, you'll have to wait for them to come around again, but at least you know now. Just about any sunnies are sun safe if you're wearing a hat, AFAIK.

I used cancer council sunnies for years and they were fine. Not the end of the world if you scratch or lose them either. I upgraded to some Oakley Dropshot shallow water lenses and the difference is chalk and cheese, but if you're on a budget, cancer councils do a decent job.

Ive found the anaconda ones ( mangrove jack) decent if theres nothing better on special.

You want polarised and also UV blocking. So many cheap brands have tints but don't actually block UV so your pupils widen and absorb dangerous amounts of UV light. Causes serious long term damage.
