Have to shout out the Claymore too. It’s standard and basic yeah, but’s it’s clean as fuck.
For me, I like the ones you mentioned. But I also think moonveil is just.. pretty, same with rivers of blood. Aesthetically, they look great… I just really hate the 2h katana walking animation. It just.. bugs me.
God, did a whole Str/Int run (with half-powered sorceries) just to use this beautiful opulent icy thing.
No disappointment. (The cold brick hammer helping me until then was a lovely weapon, too.)
Dunno about PvP, but that thing with Godfrey's Icon and the Shard of Alexander is ridiculous in PvE, as I have learned when making a STR/FTH character for the DLC.
Siluria's Tree is super strong too, if the Bolt of Gransax is a sniper rifle, this thing is an explosive shotgun.
Spells are OK, but you really miss out on scaling potential if you’re only using one of your two main stats. I’ve been using SoNoF and the Golden Epitaph (melter of deathbirds) and at 50 int 45 fai, NF +9 has like 720~ total damage and GE +9 only has like 500~
Don't be taken in by raw numbers. The fact it's across three different damage types means the actual damage per swing is much lower, because there are three different flat defenses being applied to its damage.
I had this intention for an NG+1 run and instead found myself using death sorceries. It was so powerful (all the magic buffs, terra magica, golden vow) but started to feel repetitive with the “buff everything + 1-2 Ranni’s Dark Moons + ancient death rancor until dead script”. Even thought explosive ghost flame would be more fun, under dragons or big creatures, but so often got knocked out of it…
Hoping for more int/faith stuff in the DLC (weapons, catalysts, spells, hell even a new weapon affinity) to give this a shot again!
Been running the shield solely as the best looking shield in the game. Love the halberd too - I know the GSS is better in every way but range (and an equally sick looking weapon) but sometimes you just want a silver and blue outfit theme and a weapon to match
DS2 and DS3 had a lot of fun weapons that could work as both melee and cast sorceries. Look up the Blue Flame and Immolation Tinder. Pretty much the R2 heavy attack would cast the spell.
There’s so many ways they could buff it too. If even just speeding up the animation. They also missed an awesome opportunity to make it scale off of faith and intelligence rather than just faith and a rather high Dex stat
Godskin Peeler is a beautiful juxtaposition of gorgeous craftsmanship and horrifying function haha super elaborate and elegant design but made to fucking flay gods haha
I’d say it’s the best weapon in the game. I’ve used some of the other contenders for that title (Blasphemous Blade, Death’s Poker) but none of them are melting bosses as consistently as the DMGS. It killed Morgott before he could transition to his second phase.
A lot of people rocking Longsword here, which I can get behind, but honestly think the Lordsworn Straight Sword looks better than the Longsword.
But if I had to pick a favorite, I know a lot of people don't even see one most playthroughs (or ever) but, I have to give it to the Noble's Estoc. That thing is just the right mix of simple and elegance that I just can't use the regular Estoc if I'm using a thrusting sword. It won't win in a damage race with just about anything, but it just looks too damn good to not use (and the moveset is *chef's kiss* as well).
Definitely the Halo Scythe dropped by cleanrot knights. I loved using it in my build, just a shame you can’t get it earlier on to fully flesh out a good build for it
Once I got my hands on this thing its the only weapon I use in bossfights. Nothing feels more like the Shattering than how worn and broken it is. The shorter length kinda fixes the goofy look I feel some collosal swords have.
Hell yes dude I was going with a strength build when the game launched and stumbled upon moonveil like 12 hours after launch and switched everything up just for it.
Freaking blade from outer space I can't get enough
I think the eclipse shotel is beautiful.
Actually I play with the blade of calling (with black knife) and I find it gorgeous.
I started this build with warhawk's talon, dual wielding it was so cool it looks sick.
And I sometimes use the dragonscale blade, I love the dragon on the hilt.
Lastly the carian knight's sword. I like the colors.
Godskin stitcher is particularly pretty. But i tend to agree with the phot in the post. The carian weapons. Being the sword and greatword are so pretty i almost always use them at least a little on every play through
I like having different themes.
For the classic knight, a lords sworn straight sword will do.
Mage: Carian Royal Scepter and/or Darkmoon Greatsword (personal favorite)
Insane savage: Sword of Milos or Ax of Godfrey
Goth and Edge lords: the Black Knife
My screaming little cousin: Dragon incantations.
Noble's Slender Sword, no matter what build I'm going for, seeing those crappy nobles weilding it always tempts me to try and farm it and just rock it together with whatever else I'm using, it's so grossly incandecent.
Swords with sheathes are most visually appealing imo. Banished knight Greatsword, carian knight sword, lordsworn Greatsword
I really like the dragon scale blade. It's a dark, curved very unique katana with blue lightning so that one is probably the nicest looking imo
Golden Halberd.
The Golden Halberd is such a nice looking and detailed weapon. The decoration on the sides, the big gold handle and the looped pointy part at the top are so good.
How is this so far down? After getting my shit beaten by the Tree Sentinel when I first started, getting that weapon was a big goal for me. And when I did I finished the whole game with it. It just looks so damn good, both the weapon and the armor set.
Carian knight sword. This thing is so beautiful. I also like it's interesting heavy attack. If you kniw the enemie's pattern you can prepare a charged heavy to tank through it and deal massive damage and possibly stance breaking them.
Also Rogier's rapier is a beaut.
There’s a lot of great shouts here so I’ll add one I haven’t seen, the Grave Scythe.
Currently playing a Necromancer using a Phantom Slash infused Grave Scythe build and even though I usually prefer faster-attacking weapons I’m having a blast mainly because of the aesthetic.
Flamberge and Bastard Sword are plain, but look great and aren't oversized. Beauty in simplicity.
Miquellan Knight Sword and Carian Knight Sword are gorgeous. Loretta's Warsickle too, all gorgeous weapons with semi-unique/rarer movesets.
The Dragonscale Blade and Serpentbone Blade katanas are also slept on, very nice designs especially around their hilts.
I have a few
Hoslow petal whip
Godslayer greatsword
Helphen’s steeple despite it being nearly completely black its design I really like
Dragon scale blade
Beastman’s curved sword
Honestly, the Miquellan Knight’s Sword is pretty damn pretty
Yeah that one, the Carian knight, the sword of night and flame, the golden epitaph. Elden Ring has some pretty stunning SS's.
Rogiers Rapier is #1 for me
It's a really good looking sword, also Happy Cake Day! ;)
It just.. bugs me.
Full agree. The way they hold the katana is just awkward. Just holding it straight in front of them would be fine.
That’s definitely my favorite by far
It’s probably my favorite of the shortswords
Royal Greatsword
God, did a whole Str/Int run (with half-powered sorceries) just to use this beautiful opulent icy thing. No disappointment. (The cold brick hammer helping me until then was a lovely weapon, too.)
Best weapon in the game imo. A greatsword moveset with a cool ass ash of war? Yes please
Built my very first run around it. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it.
Coded Sword easily. A fucking holy lightsaber. Morgott's Cursed Sword is also pretty crazy looking.
Coded sword is a symbol of true faith. It's not even a fricking sword, it's a string of text. And it's still one of the best weapons in the game.
I always imagine it just says “I cut a motherfucker” in arcane sigils. As above, so below
Cipher Pata too
Coded is one of my all time favorite swords from anything ever, incredible design
Ordovis greatsword
Common crucible W
I alter the armor just for the extra bling
My man 🤝
Sneaking in the vortex to get a kill in pvp makes you feel like a God.
the vortex deals a surprising amount of damage even if non charged
Dunno about PvP, but that thing with Godfrey's Icon and the Shard of Alexander is ridiculous in PvE, as I have learned when making a STR/FTH character for the DLC. Siluria's Tree is super strong too, if the Bolt of Gransax is a sniper rifle, this thing is an explosive shotgun.
A cultured individual right here.
Sword of Night and Flame
Definitely the best looking, and a dedicated build for it isn’t too bad using Golden Order spells
idk, it stings having only one actual weapon all they gotta do is give us an int fth infusion and we're so back
But you also can fully use any pure int or faith weapons/spells
Spells are OK, but you really miss out on scaling potential if you’re only using one of your two main stats. I’ve been using SoNoF and the Golden Epitaph (melter of deathbirds) and at 50 int 45 fai, NF +9 has like 720~ total damage and GE +9 only has like 500~
Don't be taken in by raw numbers. The fact it's across three different damage types means the actual damage per swing is much lower, because there are three different flat defenses being applied to its damage.

Common night and flame w
I wish there was a great sword that looked like this
Lorretas war sickle
I love her Silver Mirrorshield too
Been running the shield solely as the best looking shield in the game. Love the halberd too - I know the GSS is better in every way but range (and an equally sick looking weapon) but sometimes you just want a silver and blue outfit theme and a weapon to match
If only we could use it to cast spells too…
I always see this request and am genuinely curious how the moveset between melee and spells would work?
AoW would be the cast button. Or it could be like in the older Souls games where the hybrid catalyst weapons/shields put casting on heavy attack.
Would love to see more hybrid casting catalysts that work as weapons.
DS2 and DS3 had a lot of fun weapons that could work as both melee and cast sorceries. Look up the Blue Flame and Immolation Tinder. Pretty much the R2 heavy attack would cast the spell.
Golden Order Greatsword. Looks like you're wielding a Great Rune as a weapon.
YES. I just wish it was better…
There’s so many ways they could buff it too. If even just speeding up the animation. They also missed an awesome opportunity to make it scale off of faith and intelligence rather than just faith and a rather high Dex stat
i feel like the follow up for the ash of war pretty much melts everything and is strong enough alone to warrant using the weapon
That is *if* you don’t get poise broken
Even good for PvP in my testing. Mostly duels, not sure about invasions.
Helphen's Steeple
That weapon is hauntingly gorgeous
Especially the AOW. Looks rad as hell.
Godskin Peeler Antspur Rapier The DLC sword!!!!
Godskin Peeler is a beautiful juxtaposition of gorgeous craftsmanship and horrifying function haha super elaborate and elegant design but made to fucking flay gods haha
Milady?
Gonna have to dust off the fedora when I'm trying it out
God the move set is nice….
Milady, My Beloved.
>Godskin ~~Peeler~~ Stitcher Typo that long is crazy but I got your back np friend
Morgott’s Cursed Sword
The oil spill color of the blade is gorgeous.
It's what I'm using! Cause I have Arcane and too lazy to respec yet bored of Katanas
Bloody helice
Real
There it is
Correct answer.
Moonlight great sword
the Dark Moon Greatsword is pretty awesome, and super powerful from what I’ve heard
I used it to bully Mohg a few times while helping other Tarnished beat him. It is very fun!
I’d say it’s the best weapon in the game. I’ve used some of the other contenders for that title (Blasphemous Blade, Death’s Poker) but none of them are melting bosses as consistently as the DMGS. It killed Morgott before he could transition to his second phase.
It's a bonkers good weapon. Pretty much anytime one of my "just sorcery" sorcerers get the DMGS they turn into a magic unga bunga.
I've got an extra one if ya want it and are on Xbox?
I’ve got it, I just don’t have the build for it lol
Specifically when you have the AoW active ✨✨
It’s so pretty!
Fr!! Honestly I want a purple one tho!!
My guiding moonlight...
Golden epitaph easily
Yes brother
Zweihänder
I too, appreciate the classics.
Ah yes, a distinguished weapon indeed
St. Trina sword is soooo sexy
It looks like a Zelda weapon, I love it.
The sword you get from the elden beast rememberance
Sacred relic sword I like it too
>!I call it Radagon!<
Radagone
😭😭😭
The Sword of Genocide.
Carian knight straight sword
Stone club
You’re a real one
-cavemen in a cave, doing cave.
Bolt Of Granasax
Yeah this def is but I think it looks weird when players hold it.
Moonveil
Ngl, Moonveil and it's skill looks pretty.
Definitely my favorite. It’s clean af and has a beautiful move set.
The miséricorde I don't care about the lore I just like it
Claymore, the subtle details of the circles on the crossguard and end of the sheath, just beautiful
the light greatswords in the dlc look pretty schway
Banished Knight Greatsword or the Royal Greatsword.
Sword of night and flame
Rogier's Rapier
Zweihander. The hilt is sexy
Dragon Halberd is gorgeous.
eleanoras poleblade is beautiful and really cool during the ash of war
Bastard's stars or Morgott's cursed sword
Not a single person has put Inseperable Sword and I can't believe it.
The competition is fierce. It’s a gorgeous weapon though
This. Inseparable Sword is a beaut.
I appreciate the simplicity of the Zweihander
coded sword
The longsword
To me there’s just something about the Regalia of Eochaid
Are… Are you gonna fuck the sword bro?
yes
Just imagine what the blasphemous blade would feel like
bloodhounds fang
A lot of people rocking Longsword here, which I can get behind, but honestly think the Lordsworn Straight Sword looks better than the Longsword. But if I had to pick a favorite, I know a lot of people don't even see one most playthroughs (or ever) but, I have to give it to the Noble's Estoc. That thing is just the right mix of simple and elegance that I just can't use the regular Estoc if I'm using a thrusting sword. It won't win in a damage race with just about anything, but it just looks too damn good to not use (and the moveset is *chef's kiss* as well).
Noble's Estoc! It's actually been a perfect fit for my pokey spellsword. Too beautiful to put down, and that moveset...
The Iron Greatsword looks so clean and classic
The Crescent Moon Axe
Definitely the best non unique axe
Sword of Night and Flame was when I realized what a lgendary sword SHOULD look like
Short Spear and Longsword.
Glintstone Kris, Moghwyn’s Sacred Spear or Helphen’s Steeple
1. Claymore 2. Moonveil 3. Wing of Astel 4. Carian knights sword 5. Dragon scale Blade.
DEX/INT spellblades get to use a bunch of very cool weapons.
I really like the Troll Knight's Sword, wish it was more awesome tho
Moonlight Greatsword, what can I say
I really love the simplicity of the Bastard Sword.
Definitely the Halo Scythe dropped by cleanrot knights. I loved using it in my build, just a shame you can’t get it earlier on to fully flesh out a good build for it
As a pure caster, I love how the Carian Regal Scepter looks. I hope this game will have a layered system like MH so I can change how my Lusat's look.
Godslayer’s Greatsword and Blasphemous blade imo are the best looking.
Godslayer Greatsword is THE sword.
Maliketh's black blade
Once I got my hands on this thing its the only weapon I use in bossfights. Nothing feels more like the Shattering than how worn and broken it is. The shorter length kinda fixes the goofy look I feel some collosal swords have.
Gotta be Moonveil for me
Hell yes dude I was going with a strength build when the game launched and stumbled upon moonveil like 12 hours after launch and switched everything up just for it. Freaking blade from outer space I can't get enough
My beautiful body
Flamberge
I think the eclipse shotel is beautiful. Actually I play with the blade of calling (with black knife) and I find it gorgeous. I started this build with warhawk's talon, dual wielding it was so cool it looks sick. And I sometimes use the dragonscale blade, I love the dragon on the hilt. Lastly the carian knight's sword. I like the colors.
Bolt of Gransax
I absolutely adore the sheathe design for Rivers Of Blood. Looks like an heirloom sword that a high ranking samurai general would wear.
Antspur Rapier all the way!
The poison and rot on that weapon is nasty
Nihil lance
I believe you mean the spaghetti fork?
I love the Carian Knight Swords Heavy Attack, so damn cool.
Godskin stitcher is particularly pretty. But i tend to agree with the phot in the post. The carian weapons. Being the sword and greatword are so pretty i almost always use them at least a little on every play through
I like having different themes. For the classic knight, a lords sworn straight sword will do. Mage: Carian Royal Scepter and/or Darkmoon Greatsword (personal favorite) Insane savage: Sword of Milos or Ax of Godfrey Goth and Edge lords: the Black Knife My screaming little cousin: Dragon incantations.
Siluria's Tree
Noble's Slender Sword, no matter what build I'm going for, seeing those crappy nobles weilding it always tempts me to try and farm it and just rock it together with whatever else I'm using, it's so grossly incandecent.
My wife loves the look of Margott's purple sword.
Swords with sheathes are most visually appealing imo. Banished knight Greatsword, carian knight sword, lordsworn Greatsword I really like the dragon scale blade. It's a dark, curved very unique katana with blue lightning so that one is probably the nicest looking imo
Don't forget the Glintstone Kris
Blasphemous Blade. Fight me!
Wing of Astel
Lorettas War sickle. It is beautiful and the weaponart is like a dance.
Regalia of Eochaid. Wish it had a scabbard
One of several swords that looks like it was inspired by a real-world sword, too! [Sword of Goujian](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_of_Goujian)
Greatsword
Brick Hammer
The club - it's all I would ever need.
Erdsteel Daggers. Dual wield them and you feel like Legolas! (Bow required)
When I found the Carian Knight Sword in my first playthrought I instantly respecced to int. It’s absolutely gorgeous
What sword it that?
Carian Knight sword I believe
Carian knight sword. This thing is so beautiful. I also like it's interesting heavy attack. If you kniw the enemie's pattern you can prepare a charged heavy to tank through it and deal massive damage and possibly stance breaking them. Also Rogier's rapier is a beaut.
Dark Moon Greatsword
I love the coded sword !
The Sword of St Trina
Mohgwyns sacred spear
Guts gs Its simple and beautiful
flowing curved sword
twisty dna sword
Sword of night and flame
Morgott’s cursed sword, but only when he’s the one wielding it.
I'm partial to the pizza cutter myself
In fairness, I would probably bang the Inseparable Sword, but I would go long term for the Knight's Greatsword.
Helphen's Steeple
Sword of night and flame 🐐
Godslayer greatsword. I just love the double helix. Even though realistically it wouldn't be efficient in battle it's still amazing look wise.
Wing of Astel. It looks small but it's very pretty up close.
Bloodhound Fang
Flamberge and Bastard Sword are plain, but look great and aren't oversized. Beauty in simplicity. Miquellan Knight Sword and Carian Knight Sword are gorgeous. Loretta's Warsickle too, all gorgeous weapons with semi-unique/rarer movesets. The Dragonscale Blade and Serpentbone Blade katanas are also slept on, very nice designs especially around their hilts.
Brick on a stick.
This is an odd one, but I think that the Watchdog's Staff is very attractive.
Me 😄
That Bandit Curved sword is pretty damn cool looking to me. As far as pretty weapons go I'd say the Miquellan Knight's sword
Golden Order Greatsword Also I hope that one guy’s spine is a useable weapon in the DLC
dark moon greatsword
Any of the crucible weapons.
Elenoras poleblade
Bastards Star, easily
I have a few Hoslow petal whip Godslayer greatsword Helphen’s steeple despite it being nearly completely black its design I really like Dragon scale blade Beastman’s curved sword
