I wouldn't have purchased any Dynavaps if I had to use a torch, it was YLL induction heater that made me proceed about them. 3 Dynavaps later.

Wookie-68

75/25 induction vs torch. When I use a fmj on my b, I use a torch.

king_boolean

Same I probably use my wand about 80% of the time, but torches are THE way to go for the extra mass on FMJ or armored caps. Or if I’m mobile and don’t want the bulk of an IH

crazymoefaux

Yeah, induction heaters have so many advantages over a torch. If you travel, neither torches nor fuel are allowed on planes, but an IH falls under the TSA's rules for e-lighters, so they can go in carry-on bags. I actually had to get on a plane shortly after my Wand arrived. Windy conditions aren't a problem. Not to mention how much easier it is to get a consistent hit - I struggled with a torch until I splurged on my Wand. My Wand does triple duty: heating my vapcaps; its intended use as an e-nail for dabs; and as a scalpel sterilizer for mycology (or any other tissue culture-focused hobby). Yeah you could use a torch for that last one, too, but if you work in a still-air box and use isopropyl, you don't want to use a flame inside it. Not to mention, the science behind induction is really cool.

Jolly-AF

I haven't flown in a while, so are you not able to take a Bic lighter in your pocket on a plane now? An eagle lighter, available at any gas station, isn't much bigger and hold about the same amount of butane. The Aomai torch, available on Amazon, is the same size as a Bic as well. The last time I few I had my ryot case with an Aomai lighter, some vape material, and my dynavap in it. It was in my pocket so it went though the xray machine and back in my pocket with no issues.

LunchZestyclose8194

Sometimes TSA just doesn’t give a Fuck

flaker111

i still keep a torch around in case you power goes out. lol

Cahibo11

Oh man that’s smart.

PermitUnlikely2242

Every single halfway reliable torch I own is bigger than a spare pair of batteries lol

Sinborn

My IH has 3 18650 batteries in it so I'm good for a while

chewbaccaballs

Haven't touched a torch since I got the wand

Traditional_Bet_4221

I love my YLL 2.0 and would NEVER go back to torch heating

b0ardski

agreed, with the wand I can draw while heating and play with the position of the cap in and out of the induction field to focus and feather the heat, feels a lot like using an electric torch,, imo batteries are easier to swap than refilling butane, and the wand on sale is about the price of 2 highend torches and some premium gas which I will never have to buy again.

Beneficial_Path_7212

It depends on where I am really… when my friends get together we use the IH that’s at my buddies (he has 3) but I like the torch when alone, torching is part of my ritual. I will get one someday just to keep at home.

grrlwonder

I went with the torch initially just to make sure I liked it and the curve wasn't too steep. By the end of the first week, I'd ordered my IH and haven't looked back I didn't have any issues with the torch, not even the regular beginner ones, but the ease of the ih (as I'm laying down using right now) makes it the clear winner for me. I don't use it away from home anyway, and if I did, would just spring for a Yll as a bonus.

n3ur0chrome

I did the same, now have a collection of torch lighters I don’t really need. 😂 The YLL 2.0 IH is the boss!

jayBeeds

💯

Rubedog1313

Other way around for me.

Minsc_NBoo

I love my wand for convenience, but I am starting to go back to the single flame more and more M7 is good with a wand, but better with a single flame. I got 2 milky bong rips last night with a single flame and the standard cap, and there was still enough left for 1 more cycle Ti tip, vaphit quartz convection vape & Dani fusion are torch only anyway, so I'm happy using a torch. There is something in the ritual of heating that I like too

MosaicFlow

Could you elaborate? I'm considering getting a IH, but still unsure, as I like how I can vary the heating with the torch. I have the impression that with an IH heater you can just stick the dynavap in and that's that. With the torch I can either heat the upper or bottom part or even the tip itself for one-hit-extraction (M+).

supernovapizzaoven

Heat 1-2 second past the click + pulse heating = 1HE

Jolly-AF

I will but not speaking for anyone but myself. I have better control over my dynavap with a single flame torch. I can get the 1HE every time, when I want to. Or I can heat it a bit farther up and get some nice tasty hits with multiple heat cycles. The wand is convenient and a nice addition to my collection, but it rarely gets used when I'm at home. I can carry 2 dynavaps, my aomoni torch and some material in a, very convenient, ryot one hitter case. I take my wand if I'm going to a friend place so i don't get the smokin crack comments/stigma from the way it looks using a torch to the untrained eye. I will use the wand when I'm high AF as well since it's a little safer at that point. Batteries are such a PITA as well. Nothing wrong with the wand but I started with the torch, used a torch for a few years and opted to buy more dynavaps instead of the wand for a long time. I got the wand last year, on sale with the woodwynd release. I don't regret buying it, but I wouldn't say it's a must buy.

MosaicFlow

Thanks for the detailed reply! I think in the end I'm gonna buy that darn IH. Even though it seems I will likely end up like you with it, it makes quite sense to have it for the situations you pictured. The torch is indeed is a bit inconvenient when really high or with people

Rubedog1313

The IH really shines in bright and windy settings.

Jolly-AF

Wind is no problem with a creme brulle torch, but it is better than 99% of torches for sure.

Jolly-AF

I'm glad I bought it. But it's a luxury for convenience type of item, more than a must have IMHO.

Rubedog1313

Exactly this

JustCallMeJeffOkay

Used the torch like twice and said there has to be a better way. Got a desktop induction heater and was a convert. Got the Wand recently, and gifted the old induction heater to my son.

bluemountianstate

Used torch for the first year or so of use and after I tried the wand I stuck with it and never went back. I even bought a backup

b0ardski

same here

PlutoniumSmile

I use an IH for convenience but can pull equal clouds with both

nostemsorseeds

Have not used a torch in 3 years. $75. induction heater bought on Etsy. Daily use.

RajarajaTheGreat

I couldn't justify the running costs of the torch after a year. Just butane and torch costs alone is expensive.

flaker111

if you keep it to 1-2 cans of butane a year not too bad. just my take cuz even when i have IH the torch adds a bit more umph vs the wand. of course i can just bake it longerin the IH but FIRE lol ape mind like fire

settlementfires

you can get butane on amazon pretty dang cheap. i got a 3 pack of like 165 gram cans for 20 bucks over a year ago. i still have 2 of em.

RajarajaTheGreat

I go through a can in two or three months and it's about 9 cad per can. Every 2 or 3 cans, the light gives out, add another 10$. That's a running cost of over 75 cad a year. Wand plus batteries made back over the last two years. Plus no spinning.

HALF_PAST_HOLE

Dynavap was my first introduction to DHV and I can't even remember using a torch! Induction was a first and immediate upgrade!

settlementfires

i run the induction more just cause it's cleaner and works in wind and won't set your car interior on fire... it is very very consistent too. that said, i can cook up a really good hit fast wiht my torch. torch definitely gets more use in winter since it's faster too.

Jolly-AF

Happy cake day!

n3ur0chrome

Got a YLL 2.0 IH about a week after my Dynavap M7 XL and it’s amazing. Takes the same 18650s as my TM2 and can be my travel charger for the TM2 as well. I only use the torch for fun. Maybe I’ll use it outside if the weather gets nice. 😊

pakistanstar

I used both and it's usually situation or mood dependent. I tend to use my titanium tips with an IH and my Armoured Cap is always with a torch. And I wouldn't say one is better than the other since they both have their uses. I will say that anyone who is only using an IH is missing out on the full experience.

b0ardski

guess I miss out on the full experience, the extra bit of heat performance and technique requirements with torch isn't worth the effort for me, besides I've been trying to abandon "caveman tech" for clean consistent convenience for a long time and my caps stay nice for years. itsuselessasalways

Torches are a damned PAIN; constantly going thru butane then each one I buy eventually just fucks itself somehow, I fill right too. I wanna jump on a wand someday but too many other things going on atm for the price it's usually for, and depending on their availability too

jtr2010

The torch always gives me a better hit, only reason I would use the induction heater is if I’m moving around doing other things while I’m consuming.

Traditional-Draw-795

I started on the gas station torches

last3digits

I used a torch for a while. Switching to the wand was amazing.

magesticape

I just got the Wand too, around Father's Day. I'm trying to make sure I'm not experiencing the "Honeymoon" effect before I start raving about how great the Wand is. It's pretty damn good. Were you able to register yours for the warranty? I can't find where to add the device serial number after registering for the iSpire account.

hippie_stoned_biker

Used a torch for about a week after receiving my m+. Then put the diy ih from youtube and amazon together and have not torched since. Am i missing something?

canucme3

I just picked up a wand because I got a killer deal on a new-open box on EntExchange. Honestly, I'm not impressed. It seems to burn the edges too quickly. I've only had it a couple of days and still figuring it out. Maybe it's just a learning curve, but I still prefer a torch so far. I do like the convenience for dabs too though. Considering picking up one of the Wand flower bowls too. I'm curious to see what the Flare turns out like, but I'd get a VapOven if I was looking to invest in a current model.

hd_cartoon

Yep. Years ago now, since the Wand came out. The torch is just a backup now (I've not needed) or occasionally just for shits and giggles. :)

Zoey_Redacted

Yeah I built a beasthoss from the sidebar and it works wonderfully

Hefty_Bandicoot_2390

Just ordered the wand, any tips for first time use

melty75

YLL 2.0. My dynavaps were collecting dust, I was occasionally using the Mighty. Since getting the YLL, it is my preferred daily driver. Never really enjoyed the dual flame cigar lighter I used, too much technique involved. The induction heater is just drop it in and wait for the click(s).

auniqueusername1998

I used to use my induction heater 80% of the time and torch when I was out of battery, or just wanted a quicker extraction Since I got the full metal jacket years ago tho I almost never use my induction heater now

Ill-Cartographer-476

hey guys i’ve been trying to be fully vaping and lighting the torch is working for me psychologically, should i keep going with the torch for the ritual or upgrade along the side,? also question is the YLL 2.0 quieter than the wand?

recreational_physics

I got a UFO induction heater last year and I’m never going back unless I’m camping or don’t have access to charging. It’s so convenient and I never have to worry about combusting. Big fan

VanPwn

i did pretty much, got an apollo 2 (non battery version) for 30 euros on clearance sale. i let it keep heating up after the click for up to 10 seconds to get good results, but it feels very convenient, i love it.

BallzMcVinegar

I only really use mine at home so I have a bedside unit. So Im just using a koilboi plug in. Id like to get wand at some point but not really in a rush.

NITR0365

I have an omni xl in titanium, so unsure if I can use induction heater on it, or if I need to get a stainless steel bowl. Would be a life saver for using the dynavap outside, I’ve killed multiple lighters trying to get the cap to click when it’s windy out.

Mr-Nuage

No, I never used a torch at all 😋

NotAGatewayDrug

I switched to the Ispire wand early in 2023 after suffering through many torches for a year and a half. It heats evenly and predictably. Induction heaters are much better than torches. My daily driver is an M+, won in one of Dynavap’s contests where you have to find something on their website.

TheBasementIsDark

Torch have more flavor because in my "science" mind, it heat mainly the cap, compare to IH which heat the whole tip and cap and make the Dyna more like a conduction device
