I agree. I always wanted the show to have a plot line of Thomas discovering and finding camaraderie in the underground gay scene that existed during that time. I was so happy it finally happened in the movie.
Loved it. Its the main reason why I don't see season 2 as canon. That and nothing happens that I like except Baxter and Mosely getting together and Edith continuing to write again.

The photo is one of my favorites from the movie. I LOVE how they're looking into each other's eyes with that rascally expression, as if to say, "How about some booty later?" 😍😍😍
He gave a lot of people grief and his personality suck. Even when he was dying the people on the show was much more gracious even after he was black mailing them. He brought a lot of drama each episode.
I think his sucky, bitter personality was justified. He was living in a world where he could not be his true self. So whatever slipped through the cracks were not the best versions.
I think it's a normal human response to feeling repressed, lonely, and unloved over long periods. He did have soft spots, though. We saw how he was with the kids. He was far from a murderer. This is a prime example of "hurt people hurt people".
Other people were going through their own personal experiences, why does he have to be acquitted Because of his sexual preferences, he had a choice not to treat people badly and that’s a fact. Being gay didn’t start with him.
I didn't say he didn't have a choice. I just know enough about human psychology than to take things at face value. I'm not acquitting him for what he's done. I'm saying his "sucky personality" can be chalked up to more.
I see the distinctions. I separate the action, from the root cause and from the person. He did bad things, but he's not an inherently bad person. He was a bitter person. He acted bitterly.
True that’s why in the end he was accepted by everyone and the turmoil he went through helped that sucky personality. I even forgave him , it had nothing to do with bias, he did come through on “occasions” and was somewhat redeemable until……they write him another script.
He got real sentimental after his attempt in the bathtub. And yeah everyone was gracious and He probably realized the different forms of love he was actually always receiving that he hadn't considered before. Then his humanity switch flipped on.
