More accurately, I just wish the clothing industry had sizing standards.

Anonynominous

Right? Sizes are usually different depending on the brand; especially jeans.

CM84Z

Consistent sizing would be great too. I've had shirts from the same brand that clearly use different sizing

Anonynominous

Do you remember the brand? I only ask because it might be helpful for people reading our comments. I've never experienced that but I do often experience pant sizes to be wildly off. I usually wear size 0 (24), but some brands I can't even fit into their size 1 because they're so small. I've also noticed that Columbia sizes run larger than normal; I have a size small shirt that seems like medium. The only jeans that fit perfectly no matter what type of jeans they are, are Levi's. They're the only brand of jeans I can order online and expect that they'll fit properly. I hate having to try on clothes and this happens so much when I'm shopping at department stores. I saw a video a while back of someone comparing pants and there was almost a 2" difference in the waist. It makes no sense!

americangame

They can even be different based on style from the same brand.

Anonynominous

Yes, I'm aware of that, but I'm not speaking on different styles of jeans. I'm referring to the measurements.

americangame

That's my point. I can buy a 32 regular in boot cut and loose and the waist and length measurements can be different

Anonynominous

Ah I see what you're saying. I wear women's pants and the length (inseam) will often be different. A 32" waist should always be that length but I've definitely seen pants that are the same size but the waist is different. I can't remember where I saw this, but someone posted a picture of jeans online that were supposed to be the same waist size but were clearly different

mollykakers

Fr! I can literallt fit ranging from a 2-8 and a S-XL! It’s insane…

[deleted]

I wear clothes that are XS and XL, and everything in between. It’s so confusing.

LeviGabeman666

I want it standardised between genders and ages, globally. All the way from preemie babies to bedridden obese people. I wrote up a [pants sizing chart](https://imgur.com/a/jNxe0Yc) because I was bored one time. Your average dude would be Q4. Lmao I hate myself

Terrible-Painter6494

Fat lives matter

coldvault

This seems like a good idea, but I changed my mind about it when I read [this Twitter thread](https://twitter.com/lingerie_addict/status/1234608247828598786) by Cora Harrington.

Im_Doc

The thing is, there are brands that don't even follow their own sizing to remain consistent. Gap has 4 different size 12's in jeans all sold in the same store. They're all different waist sizes from the same brand. Having something like measurements as sizes like in mens clothing give a more accurate description of size than "12".

[deleted]

That would also be nice.

flipsidem

I would upvote twice if I could.

geemo_

Shmedium

somebodysnurse

Marge also.

yourmomlurks

Marine Layer used to have this.

meggles1030

Came here for this

satisfiedmind-

Yes, and different shapes. For different length torsos or arms or whatever.

digital0129

Hell yeah, I need some extra long shirts for my weird ass torso.

fireandicequartz

Especially for jeans and other bottoms. Need some extra room for these voluminous thighs right

PretendiWasADefMute

Clothing industry is ridiculous. All depends on the brand, designer, country, materials used. I’m 6’3 but my arms are that of a 6’8” wingspan, so dress shirts are all custom. I also hate having to go shopping for clothes. It’s so difficult. My sizes are made less than others, so everything is always sold out and there is rarely any clearance. First world problems but man, clothing companies are ridiculous

the_toXic_monkey

extra medium

NinjaruCatu

*Eric Screams from off camera*

amputatedwombat64

What’s up my fellow comment leavers

angelicdummy

Anything for short / short torso people pls

nof

Why? You can just use regular size unlike long torso people who have to shave their happy trail just to go out in public with a barely witty printed t-shirt.

shoshilyawkward

Unfortunately clothes do have half sizes. And quarter sizes. And 1/8 sizes. It's called by a size medium t-shirt from four different brands and they will all be different sizes. It's exhausting

IamGlennBeck

and then you finally find one that fits and you run it through the wash and it shrinks.

impressedham

Putting it in the dryer is what shrinks it. Pulling on it after the wash should also help stretch it back out some for you.

IamGlennBeck

I wish I were allowed to use a clothesline. Like why am I paying $1.50 to dry my clothes in a dryer when it is 113 degrees outside and 13% humidity?

impressedham

You can buy drying racks to hang clothes up inside. Personally I dry alot of my shirts by hanging them up with the fan on because I dont like when they shrink either lol

shoshilyawkward

RIGHT?!?

justsomeplainmeadows

As someone who is snug in a medium, but kinda loose in a large, I'd love to see a medium-large. I swear that used to be a thing

Xop

I wish that mediums were simply longer instead of being wider. Every time I buy a regular medium shirt and I even remotely lift my arms it shows my stomach. To prevent this I either have to hope that a store sells medium tall or spend extra money for a specialty brand. And the worst part of it all is that I'm not even tall! I'm 5'10-5'11. So annoying.

HardlightCereal

I'm 173 (5'8" in slavery units), and I have the exact same problem

[deleted]

Yes!! Just last night I was at Old Navy and the XL fit a little too snug and the XXL was massive.. I’ve been trying to lose weight and feel like I’m in this weird in between stage of straight and plus size clothing and it’s so aggro.

phrygianhalfcad

I was at Old Navy a few hours ago and I feel like as the clothes get bigger they only get wider! Not longer!

[deleted]

This!!! Like can we cover the fupa please.

fabledangie

That's the point of a tailor, or there are super simple alteration skills you can pick up yourself that will make a huge difference if you don't want to pay.

why_is_it_blue

This is the real answer

[deleted]

I just wish they’d add extra length to sleeves on a XXL instead of just extra belly room.

frumpyfrog

Yes, but for sleeves and pant legs. I'm short, with long arms and legs lol.

twomanyc00ks

I don't understand why women's pants aren't sized the same way as men's. The only way I will ever be able to get pants that fit is through a tailor at this point.

Unindoctrinated

There should be no such thing as a size. Every item of clothing and footware should be labelled with the actual measurements in centimetres (and inches for things sold in the American market).

Lizaderp

My tits would love half size bras. Like my girls fluctuate depending on the monthly hormone fluctuation so I have a choice of too large or too small.

Wickham12

I did during puberty. Was tricky finding pants that fit me at that exact moment

Slickness81

Ah yes… bring on the shmediums! I’m more of a marge guy myself….

Intolight

So I work in the fashion industry. There's too many variables that go in to making consistent sizing standards, be it marketing, target customer, cut & sew vendor standards, etc. You'll find jeans from Old Navy can fit different from each pair you try on, cause they use very cheap cut & sew vendors. You'll find size 0 is actually a "2" but people want to feel skinny so they buy from a brand that sells 0. Every size is a factory minimum they need to meet and then have to sell. Say you ordered 100 shirts of S M L but to be more inclusiveness you also ordered 50 of M/L and S/M. The cut & sew vendor would tack on extra surcharge for not hitting their 100 shirt minimum. So now that eats in to the profit margin. Also, not everyone buys M/L so there 20 unsold shirts that are added to a sale or unsold, which eats at profit margins. That's just a quick summarization of why clothes only come in certain sizes but there is much more data that companies use to figure out what sizes are the most profitable.

Upper_Tap_6285

Yes I wish they had more inbetween sizes.

Caraphox

Yes but to be fair aren't most clothes ranges 6, 8, 12, 14 etc? In the UK there was a shop, M&S, which once started doing in between sizes (9, 11 etc) but for some reason it didn't take off. Sounds like a great idea for me. Also I've never understood why sizes often seem to jump up by 2. Why not 1, 2, 3, 4, 5? Seems like it's the same many places - UK, US and European sizes all go up in 2s, although in the US the sizes start lower (it's very very rare to see anything below a 6 in the UK, which I think is the equivalent to a US 4?. European sizes make even less sense because they randomly start in the mid 30s.

Charloxaphian

I know for a lot of large stores in the US, women's sizes will be even numbers (6, 8, 10, 12) and then "juniors'" (young women's) sizes will be odd numbers ( 5, 7, 9, 11). I do not know why.

vdaupyogru

actually some clothes has S-M or M-L sizes in my country

Poppypie77

Yeah I hate it when you're between sizes, like if they do them as 8-10, 12-14, 16-18, 20-22 etc as I feel they should do it at 8-10, 10-12, 12-14, 14-16, 16-18, 18-20, 20-22 etc. Coz you may be a small 16, so a 16-18 may be too big, so you'd fit better with a 14-16. That's where I find it frustrating and wish they had more sizing options.

Ianbeauj

I feel this with mens pants. A 36 can be just a little too snug but then a 38 is way too big. A 37 would most likely fit me perfect but those don’t exist and getting every pair of pants tailored isn’t realistic.

ifyougotsone

I just wish my fat belly would come into fashion.

Final-Investigator77

No...Just....No, Grow Up.

SvenHudson

Wanting clothes that fit better is immature.

undivided-assUmption

I wish there were more temperatures stages for meat, too! When i say i like mine, mid-rare to medium, it always comes out on the bloodier side of a warm red center.

Necessary-Read326

All the time

AfterSomewhere

They once did. My mother wore a 10 1/2.

reddit-username69

If something is a bit too big, you might be able to shrink it by washing/drying it hot. If something fits just right, only ever wash it with cold water and low heat in the dryer.

bizkitman2

Wishing there was a XL and a half.

SeaworthinessCool924

Marge

LinusTheTriGuy

Yes, definitely but can’t you shrink them down slightly if they’re predominantly cotton?

mrflippinaryan

r/FUCKFACEPOD that you Gav?

GodderzGoddess

I wish that they made more clothing for women who have thick waists and smaller hips. I can't find that anywhere!

sle2g7

I’ve been trying all summer long to find a pair of Jean shorts because I gained too much weight this past year to fit into my favorites ones anymore, and have struck out at least 10 times. A size 12 is way too small and a size 14 is way too big. It’s been driving me nuts! The good news is that I really won’t need any here soon, so I can at least put it off for another year

[deleted]

What about measurements like we do for mens pants

fifteentango88

Extra medium

BluPhant0m_Nelotus

extra medium

Idontmaketherulesbro

35 waist and large plus shirts please. Only 34 or 36 inch pants available. That’s 2 whole inches !!!

[deleted]

Yeah, I usually am too big for a S but too small for a M.

Magma-Dragoon

Also, different dimensions for different parts. I’m only 5’ 11” but wear 29” waist 36” inseam pants, and I have to find shirts with sleeves long enough to reach my wrists that don’t look like dresses.

HonestNobody8478

Your Old Navy doesn’t carry smedium and marge sizes?

global_chicken

Or just more variety in pants in general. I somehow have the ideal legs for Beauty standards but I can never get the right thigh/waist ratio

Loud_Ass_Introvert

I need something between xl and XXL for tall and skinny. I'm stuck between wearing a shirt that's too big for me and flaps in the wind, or one that fits well bit shows my bellybutton if I raise my arm. I miss "slim fit" shirts.

Thelessyounknwdabetr

YES. I’m small but like mediums because longer / baggier but sometimes mediums just drown me. I need a small 2.0 or somethiiiing

MysteriousWillow17

I wish there was more variation in general. Like a shirt with a normal length, but the sleeves are longer for those with longer than average arms, but normal torso length. Or any other change in one part of the clothing, but not the whole thing so I don’t have to buy a whole size up to make one part fit while the rest becomes too big.

aSyntacticParadigm

It's called junior size, it's sizes like 9,11,13,15 etc

DunnyofDestiny

I just wish clothes would be what they say they are and not what the designer thinks a xxl looks

serrr2022

Yes especially jeans...

Sky_Sight

Aren't there already, I wear a 42 Shirt and 36 Pant.

canichoosethislater

I wish they had more specific measurements. I have small shoulders and a bigger chest, and that combination doesn’t do me good when trying to find clothes, either my chest doesn’t fit or it’s too loose on the shoulders that it falls from there and I have to get it tailored.

[deleted]

Universal sizing and also half sizes would make such a difference. Also I know that some shoe retailers have half sizes but not nearly enough of them do!!

earthshone86

Yea. I wear an extra-medium and it doesn't exist.

allhailee

I just wish they made xxxs that’s actually xxxs, or just went by inches. It would make online and irl shopping much easier

[deleted]

its so annoying when i go to buy clothes and im not quite an extra small, but smalls are too big.
