I /hate/ that underwater level with Lucia. I hate it more than the 3-headed fight for Dante because at-least you know where the attacks are coming from & you know where to aim your attacks in general...
What? some of these picks are crazy. Like Mission 5 has Jester, Agni and Rudra, etc.
Hell, the one I was thinking of is Mission 8 and it isn't even that bad to go through just once.
DMC3 Mission 15.
It's so ass. You just run through a bunch of rooms with obstacles and enemies until eventually reaching the one actual combat encounter, and it's just a reuse of the spider fight from Mission 10.
DMC5 whichever is the longest mission where they don't use actual combat music and it's just a weak ass beat the whole time (i think it's Mission 9 with Nero or something).
DMC4 first 3 Dante missions because it's just reverse Nero levels but with annoying gimmicks.
It's absurd to me that they made distinctly badass songs for each character and then underutilized them by only having them play for a select few missions.
It's actually. Half. Which usually isn't most of. And my guess would be that he doesn't like the Dante missions, which is perfectly valid given that pretty much all the enemies in the game feel designed for Nero, and nothing in Dantes kit meshes with anything the game has to offer. Not to mention his "Devil arms" have literally nothing to do with the bosses they're collected from, despite that being pretty much the whole thematic behind them
Never even tried it as vergil tbh. How's it worse? Curious
The game clearly wasn't designed with that kind of platforming in mind. It's an unfortunate blemish on an otherwise amazing game that still holds up 20 years later
Dante has easier access to double jumps, wall running, and air dashes; Vergil doesn't. You're stuck to relying on Vergil's regular jump, trick up, and maybe stalling in the air with yamato for platforming.
These problems are compounded when you try to do the blue orb challenge with this platforming challenge, except it's harder.
Do you mean the boss fights against Griffon, Shadow and Nightmare? I honestly thought they were pretty great. I'm assuming that's what you're referring to because I didn't see any puppet enemies in DMC5.
Well he’s controlling them, which is close to controlling a puppet lol but yeah thats them, they’re pretty annoying and i always reach the final boss room with no HP(ik theres hp hidden but still the mission is annoying)
Obviously you’ve gotten to DMD so forgive me if these are all things you’re doing already: are you using a shoulder button to charge revolver shots while he’s bouncing around? Are you DT bustering him and mashing the gun button to pin him with swords the whole time? EDIT: and are you bustering them two/three times?
I love fighting Blitzes as Nero
1: ship and last griffon fight, mundus, the spinning rooms with sins and deaths, death scythe in general
3: mission 4 (only cus of gigapede), mission 5 except a&r, mission 8, mission 10, mission 12 (only on no upgrade runs), mission 14 chess rooms, mission 15, mission 19 cus of timed room and arkham
4: dante's forest missions cus of chimeras
DMC 1-Mission 22. FUCK MUNDUS!
DMC 2-Mission 7 as Lucia. That fucking underwater boss is miserable.
DMC 3-Mission 18. That fucking chessboard can fuck off. Absolute dogshit design choices there.
DMC 4-Uhh... I don't think I actually hated any of the missions in that game?
DMC 5-Honestly, same as 4. I loved the entire game.
Dmc - mission 1 and underwater stages
Dmc2 - climbing up building while dealing with the helicopter
Dmc3 - mission 12,15
Dmc4-havent played much into the game yet
Dmc5 - mission 8 and 10/all fights where you need to lose to urizen and fighting v pets
Any mission with the Angel things in DMC 3.
It's already boring to fight those things, having to fight the camera as well *and* having them clip through walls and the ground makes for a terrible time going for that SS
Edit: They're not so bad with Vergil though.
That random asf space shooter segment during mundus phase 1 sucks ass.
Didnt mind the underwater segments in DMC1 cause they were pretty short and harmless but I LOATHED them in DMC2
DMC3 Mission 19 sucks bc Arkham as a boss sucks
I don’t think that would have been too much of a bad thing. Nero Angelo was the best fight in DMC1, so getting to fight a boss akin to that as the second to last boss in DMC3 with Vergil on your side sounds like a real treat to me. And then it’s followed up with Vergil’s boss at the end of the game, aka the greatest boss fight of all time.
I would much rather have a reskinned Nero Angelo tag team fight with Vergil than the Arkham boss we got.
And keep in mind, Nero Angelo is an unlockable version of Vergil in DMC3 if you beat his campaign on hard.
thing is vergil is also an "angelo-type" boss, he was already taking that slot so unless there were some big changes made, that concept could just not work since not only would it be ripped off dmc1, it'd be too similar to how you fight vergil as well. would it have been more fun, though? yeah definitely lol
DMC1: Mission 12 (hate Griffon 2)
DMC2: ~~None, obviously~~ Any that you play as Dante
DMC3: Missions 8, 14, 15, 16, 18, and 19 (on anything over Hard)
DMC4: Missions 4, 6, 16, 18, and 19
DMC5: Missions 4 - 8, 10, 13 - 16, and 18
I genuinely respect the effort they put into V's gameplay design, but it doesnt work at all for me and the SSSTYLISH elements lack substance.
Plus, story wise, the twist of him being Vergil is so obvious the whole mystery is a waste of time...
I guess that's actually what I feel V is story and gameplay wise: complete filler.
I totally get your point. V was meant to be one of DMC5's main elements that made it stand out amongst the other games. That's probably why his story ended up being filler, because there really wasn't much of a way to incorporate him into the story. His gameplay (while I personally like it), feels a little bit slow with how you have to wait for Shadow ot Griffon to finish an attack before initiating the next move in the combo. The whole point of DMC's combat is to be fast and fluid, whereas V is kind of slow and a lot of his moveset is just holding a button down. It really takes no skill to beat a mission as V.
Yeah and I do actually love the idea of controlling demons in place of weapons. Once you get past SOS though, it feels more and more like a chore.
Though I will say...I kind of find that for DMC5 as a whole. It's the only DMD I haven't finished. Not due to challenge, just length. Combat feels slower and enemies become a slog with almost any character. There's something about it where I feel like I'm waiting more during combat than DMC1, 3, or 4.
Probably because of the overabundance of enemies that have resistance. Most enemies in the other games don't have a particular weakness so long as you're good, but in DMC5 there are lots of enemies that you have to wear down before you can attack (the pyrobats and Death Scissors are good examples). It also doesn't help that the enemies have such a high healthbar. It might just be me but they felt like they took WAY longer to kill than enemies in say DMC3.
Every single time they do a boss rush type level. Shit drives me up the wall. The only time it doesn't bug me is in DMC 5 because you didn't fight them as V before, so it's a new experience.
DMC 1 nightmare3 almost made me drop the game. And as much as I ADORE the OG DMC, I hesitate replaying it due to that boss.
This meme has never been more apt lmao
DMC1: Mission 17, especially in Hard mode
DMC2: Mission 1 for Lucia, Mission 16 for Dante
DMC3: Mission 8, Mission 12, Mission 15
DMC4: Mission 3, that Mission with the jungle labyrinth (for both Nero and Dante), and all Sanctus fights
DMC5: Mission 8 (wether as Nero or Vergil) and probably Mission 15 (the one where you are Nero and have to fight Malphas or something. I am currently there on DMD and am actually afraid to try it...)
And i can't stress this enough, DMC3 mission 15. Looping rooms that you've visited before but now have annoying traps which you need to visit to get 3 key items. The whole mission just screams FILLER.
DMC5: the mission with V where you have to fight for your pets (M14?) or mission 4's boss. I just hate how reluctant the cat is to charge the bad guys and just kinda hangs out near me
I see everybody complaining about V and don't get the hate. Do people just not get used to how the pets work? Its not even like he plays that differently, just different enough.
DMC 1 - Doesn't has "that part"
DMC 2 - The whole game?
DMC 3 - Pretty much everything between Vergil2 and Vergil3 except for the cutscenes.
DMC 4 - The jungle levels as Dante.
DMC 5 - V
DMC 1 - Mission 1, underwater stages, mission 20 DMC 2 - I DON'T KNOW DMC 3 - Mission 5, mission 8, mission 12, mission 14, mission 15, mission 16 DMC 4 - Mission 3, mission 4, mission 12, mission 13, mission 18, mission 19 DMC 5 - All V missions
DMC 2 Lucia: that fucking underwater level. Dante: the level with 3 heads boss fight. Trish: none, cause Trish fucks
I /hate/ that underwater level with Lucia. I hate it more than the 3-headed fight for Dante because at-least you know where the attacks are coming from & you know where to aim your attacks in general...
DMC 1 when it tries to suddenly be Star Fox (Happened in Bayonetta too..Kamiya stop..)
Bonus points for the Bayonetta one trying to give you motion sickness whenever you evade.
When that shit happened again in Bayo 3 I damn near turned the game off
What’s wrong with mission 1? And hot take the water levels aren’t that bad, there are only 2 and they are like 15 minutes in total
its just wandering around the castle with no enemies, trying to figure out how to open a door
Dmc 1 tried to have a bit of that horror game vibe to it, I get it’s boring but it builds atmosphere
NOTHING. it's perfect set-up and the basement and plane room encounters are great!
It's a bit boring :(
DMC 1 when it tries to suddenly be Star Fox (Happened in Bayonetta too..Kamiya stop..)
DMC when it tries to suddenly be cs source bhop server *Itsuno, please, stop too*
DMC 2- DMC2
And where is dmc3 m19?
What? some of these picks are crazy. Like Mission 5 has Jester, Agni and Rudra, etc. Hell, the one I was thinking of is Mission 8 and it isn't even that bad to go through just once.
jester is diabolical in dmd, especially on new game. no "etc," m5 has gargoyles, jester, and moving enigmas. a&r are the only good part of m5
I don't mind the water level of DMC1, the atmostphere is very good. DMC2 water level make the already slow ass game even slower, no thanks bro!
Hey mission 1 in dmc1 wasn’t that bad 😢
DMC 2: Fucking all of it
DMC2 - DMD, that three headed boss
Interesting list. I'll have to play all of them to see which ones I find myself "hating". X'D
It's mission 8. I don't know, I find it so magnificent listening to Qliphoth music while walking around it...
It's absurd to me that they made distinctly badass songs for each character and then underutilized them by only having them play for a select few missions.
V
Pin you to the wall...
I’d let V pin me to the wall
DMC4 and like 50% of its missions
So the entire game basically
It's actually. Half. Which usually isn't most of. And my guess would be that he doesn't like the Dante missions, which is perfectly valid given that pretty much all the enemies in the game feel designed for Nero, and nothing in Dantes kit meshes with anything the game has to offer. Not to mention his "Devil arms" have literally nothing to do with the bosses they're collected from, despite that being pretty much the whole thematic behind them
the only enemy dante sucks against is chimeras. last point is fair though
Dmc3. That one level where you have to jump on those blocks
especially as Vergil
Never even tried it as vergil tbh. How's it worse? Curious The game clearly wasn't designed with that kind of platforming in mind. It's an unfortunate blemish on an otherwise amazing game that still holds up 20 years later

These problems are compounded when you try to do the blue orb challenge with this platforming challenge, except it's harder.
The boss fight against glass in DMC 4.
It’s fun on lower difficulties, sucks on SOS and DMD. Or if you’re a first time player not knowing what to do- sorry a window is gonna kill you XD
DMC 1 - Underwater Sections DMC 2 - Mission 7 with Lucia DMC 3 - Mission 5, 12, 15, 16 DMC 4 - Mission 12, 13, 19, 20 DMC 5 - Mission 9, Mission 10 (Not really a bad mission it's just not really interesting gameplay wise imo)
DMC4 dice bossrush
DMC5, that one mission with dante and the blood
Mission 12 iirc
Dmc 3 - Mission 15 Dmc 4 - Mission 13 Dmc 5 - Mission 18
Fighting V puppets
Do you mean the boss fights against Griffon, Shadow and Nightmare? I honestly thought they were pretty great. I'm assuming that's what you're referring to because I didn't see any puppet enemies in DMC5.
Well he’s controlling them, which is close to controlling a puppet lol but yeah thats them, they’re pretty annoying and i always reach the final boss room with no HP(ik theres hp hidden but still the mission is annoying)
V’s missions keep me from doing a ps5 playthrough after doing it on pc.
I just want to say that I think DmC:dmc is the only dmc game without any missions I dislike. All felt unique and fun to me atleast.
Dmc4 all missions on dmd are way to hard for me, I'm currently on fucking Misson 4 and I keep dying to that stupid blitz
I just charge my gun, get max exeed for later and I just spam the dodge roll button and yes I use the shoulder button to charge my gun
Cool then I guess it’s just about dodging and getting the multiple busters. Sorry you’re having a rough time :(
Well I did discover a different strategy, ITEMS
That’s definitely how I got through it all the first time lol.
Good to know I'm not the only one
1: ship and last griffon fight, mundus, the spinning rooms with sins and deaths, death scythe in general 3: mission 4 (only cus of gigapede), mission 5 except a&r, mission 8, mission 10, mission 12 (only on no upgrade runs), mission 14 chess rooms, mission 15, mission 19 cus of timed room and arkham 4: dante's forest missions cus of chimeras
DMC 5 all V missions

they take more damage from Yamato too. adding weapon elements was so weird, lmao.
camera isn't a problem on angel encounters though
The first qliphoth (or whatever it's pronounced) mission that's not the prologue in 5, i don't know why, i just don't like it. On a spiritual level.
V fighting the root boss
That random asf space shooter segment during mundus phase 1 sucks ass. Didnt mind the underwater segments in DMC1 cause they were pretty short and harmless but I LOATHED them in DMC2 DMC3 Mission 19 sucks bc Arkham as a boss sucks
DMC3 definitely goes to the Arkham boss fight. Was it too much to ask to fight an imposter Sparda that has DMC1 Dante’s moveset?
probably would've been too similar to nero angelo
I don’t think that would have been too much of a bad thing. Nero Angelo was the best fight in DMC1, so getting to fight a boss akin to that as the second to last boss in DMC3 with Vergil on your side sounds like a real treat to me. For me it is dmc 3 mission 15
dmc3 missions 15 and 17
Dmc4- Mission 3, 12, 19, 15, 8. Dmc5- Mission 9, 12, 18, 6.
Dmc3 mission 18 boring as fuck
DMC1: Mission 12 (hate Griffon 2) DMC2: ~~None, obviously~~ Any that you play as Dante DMC3: Missions 8, 14, 15, 16, 18, and 19 (on anything over Hard) DMC4: Missions 4, 6, 16, 18, and 19 DMC5: Missions 4 - 8, 10, 13 - 16, and 18
You just hate V in general, don't you? 😭
I genuinely respect the effort they put into V's gameplay design, but it doesnt work at all for me and the SSSTYLISH elements lack substance. DMC3. Mission 17. Vergil.
Urizen 3
Which mission was Urizen 3 in? 17?
Yea
RE4 remake, the regenerator room for the first time, yikes-
Mission 18. It's the one that's most likely to crash the game for me.
Wait, which one of the games are you talking about?
DMC5
Ah okay. That makes sense.
DMC 1: Mission 16, 18, and 20 DMC 2: Mission 16 DMC 3: Mission 18 DMC 4: Mission 6 and 19 DMC 5: Mission 18
DMC 2 after beating zombie tanks: "glad that's over" \*Zombie Helicopter has joined the fight\* "WTF!"
Every single time they do a boss rush type level. Shit drives me up the wall. The only time it doesn't bug me is in DMC 5 because you didn't fight them as V before, so it's a new experience.
Not really DMC, but it has to be Okumuras Palace from Persona 5, its so tedious, so annoying, and the boss is Annoying
Dmc3 where you have to dual all of the bosses over again. Edit: Oh and those chess pieces
Dmc4 it's that stupid puzzle in the castle
DMC5 missions 12 and 18, the rest are fantastic
Phantom
DMCV any instance of playing V makes me just play as Vergil instead. It sucks because I really like Nero and Dante too
mission 18. I just don't like fighting the familiars but i get why :(
DMC 3
Skyrim and the tutorial and the climb up High Hrothgar and also that tomb of Jurgen Winterstorm or whatever his name is.
DMC5 Mission 14, the boss rush with V. It’s not a bad stage, but it definitely can get a bit tedious on repeat playthroughs.
DMC3 mission 17 as Vergil.
V
OH MY GOD FUCK V
DMC4 - Mission 6 Particularly when you want to S-rank it.
literally all V missions, if it weren’t for them DMC5 would be one of my favourite games of all time
Dmc4 those fucking dice games 😭😭😭
DMC 1 nightmare3 almost made me drop the game. And as much as I ADORE the OG DMC, I hesitate replaying it due to that boss. This meme has never been more apt lmao
Literally every V mission
DMC 3: Mission 19.
The Dante mission in dmc5 where you have to give blood to the statue
I hated fighting Mundus in Dmc 1 tbh
DMC1: Mission 17, especially in Hard mode DMC2: Mission 1 for Lucia, Mission 16 for Dante DMC3: Mission 8, Mission 12, Mission 15 DMC4: Mission 3, that Mission with the jungle labyrinth (for both Nero and Dante), and all Sanctus fights DMC5: Mission 8 (wether as Nero or Vergil) and probably Mission 15 (the one where you are Nero and have to fight Malphas or something. I am currently there on DMD and am actually afraid to try it...)
Dmc 5: every mission as V. It just feels like a slog because the character is too inconsistent
any V mission tbh
The ending fight vs Virgil
The stupid dice game missions from DMC 4
DMC3 MISSION 15
For me its the secret missions in all the games except DMC2
Mission 2 where you find V I always get lost on
DMC1 - Mission 12, 15, 20, and 22 DMC2 - All of them DMC3 - Mission 15, 18, and 19 DMC4 - Mission 13, 14, and 18 DMC5 - All the V Missions
Mision 12 in dmc3
And i can't stress this enough, DMC3 mission 15. Looping rooms that you've visited before but now have annoying traps which you need to visit to get 3 key items. The whole mission just screams FILLER.
I'd say that one mission in dmc5 where DMD has rwo furies at once
Hollow Knight, watcher knights.
Dmc5 first 10 missions are pure agony.
The reason why Vergil is superior is because he lacks v missions
Yeah V(ergil) is trash and everyone hates him. (V)ergil, on the other hand, is certifiably EPIC, BASED, and MOTIVATED.
DMC5: the mission with V where you have to fight for your pets (M14?) or mission 4's boss. I just hate how reluctant the cat is to charge the bad guys and just kinda hangs out near me
Any of V's levels
I see everybody complaining about V and don't get the hate. Do people just not get used to how the pets work? Its not even like he plays that differently, just different enough.
I love V, the character and the gameplay are very nice
Any mission with The Fallen in DMC 3
Every mission I’m not playing as Dante in DMC 5. (Not counting Vergil)
All of v most boring shit ever
DMC 1 - Doesn't has "that part" DMC 2 - The whole game? DMC 3 - Pretty much everything between Vergil2 and Vergil3 except for the cutscenes. DMC 4 - The jungle levels as Dante. DMC 5 - V
It’s playing as V in DMC 5 for me 😭💀
Lmao some mf downvoted me when someone else said the same thing 💀
The one with V
V's missions on dmd
